Thirty years ago within the breeding grounds...
'So all the Menos here have managed to evolve into Adjuchas?' an Arrancar with long fingers, short blonde hair, and a bird-like mask asked the Guardian of the Menos forest.
'Yes Aisslinger Wernarr' the Hollow answered respectfully. 'Within only a few months, pretty much fifty Adjuchas, were made out of the seventy thousand Gillans that have been gathered here and will be sent away to be made into Arrancar immediately'
Wernarr hummed in approval. 'I see...well it is good that the shepherd is doing a good job in raising his flock huh?' he half-completed half insulted, though the Guardian took it in stride.
But then Aisslinger noticed a young horn helmet Adjuchas, that was slowly eating on the remaining Gillians.
'This one...'The Arrancar said while pointing at the boy with his long fingers. 'How long has he been here for?'
Guardian then looked at the child with a dismissive snort. 'Oh that is just Wonderweiss Maragla who has been here since this camp was first built, but still hasn't reached the peak of his power yet despite all the hollows he has eaten and on top of being a very troublemaker'
Aisslinger then raised his eyebrow in curiosity. 'Really and tell me how many Gillains has this child devoured?'
The Guardian then thought about it for a moment and then answered. 'I would say...about ten thousand or more'
'Over ten thousand...' Wernarr pondered. 'You know most Adjuchas, usually reached their peak after devouring only a third of that...' he then stared at the Guardian. 'Do you think he has the potential to become a Vasto Lorde?'
The large Hollow nodded. 'That is what I believe, however, him eating Gillains alone doesn't seem to be enough'
Aisslinger then smiled cunningly under his mask. 'Well...we will just have to change that don't we?'
The Arrancar then walked towards the lone Adjuchas. 'I heard that you have been causing trouble for my colleague here, mind telling me why?'
Wonderweiss looked up at Aisslinger and growled bitterly. 'You know damn well why' he looked away. 'I never asked to be part of this stupid army, to fight and die for some delusional old fuck, and nor do I care for a flying rat's ass for any of the other bastards like him or you...' he cursed and stared hatefully at the Arrancar.' So you can take your condescending shit up with someone else that gives a damn'
Wernarr raised an eyebrow at the cursing mouth of the young Hollow but merely chuckled in response. 'What if I tell you that there is a chance to earn the freedom you desire?'
The boy then winded his eyes and stared at the older man. 'Are you messing with me or something?'
Aisslinger then shook his head. 'You are not the only one who is dissatisfied with Barragan's rule Maragla, as there are many like you who simply wish to be left alone only to be forcibly drafted. Though few like you would dare rebel against our king' he then got up close to Wondeweiss's face. 'However, even those few who fell in line realized that they could earn their freedom by defeating his Majesty's enemies
The boy then looked at the Arrancar in confusion and yet temptation. 'You mean...if Barragan wins the war against the Humans and the Quincies...he would let me go free?'
Asslinger then turns his back on Wonderweiss. 'Within reason... after all for those who serve his majesty faithfully and dutifully in winning the war, then it is possible they can bargain their freedom once they served their purpose' He then frowns. 'However...to those that continue to defy him or even act in noncompliance...will just be killed and eaten'
The thin Arrancar then turns himself around to face the boy. 'So I give you a choice, would you rather fight and die like a rabid dog or submit and earn your privilege?'
Wonderweiss Maragla then lowered his head and thought long and hard at what Asslinger said, his futile efforts to escape the camp and the inevitable fate that awaits him if he kept rebelling.
So with a defeated sigh he got himself off the ground and lifted his hand, while the Arrancar smiled in victory and took it.
'That is what I thought'
And so Wonderweiss accepts Asslinger's offer into becoming an Arrancar in Barragan's army, hoping that by serving his time and acting loyal he would gain the freedom that was constantly denied by him. Yet as the decades passed, the war against the Soul Society and the World of The Living continued to drag on with no end in sight, and despite all the Hollows, Humans, and Quincy he has eaten and the strength he gained from that, he had yet to evolve to the level of a Vasto Lorde.
But then again he never actually believed he would get his freedom to begin with.
Present time...
Margela grinned in delight as he saw Cang Du stand and stretched out his claws. 'Well doesn't this day just keeps getting better!' he shouted out in delight. 'I always dream of getting payback for his humiliating me back in Tokyo and now I can do so without holding anything back!'
The Sexta's spiritual pressure then surged, as he darken his aura and shook the buildings and streets around him while everyone else in the group but Cang struggled to stand up and breathe, which made the latter look at them in concern.
'BG9, Lamperd, Mizuiro and Keigo...' Cang spoke to them. 'I want all of you to get as far away from here as possible and retreat to the Palace of Governance' The Sternritter then branded up his metal claws. 'I will handle this Espada on my own'
Liltotto then grunted. 'Are you sure Cang?' she questions her comrade. 'This guy ended up bodying Merinias and it took Candice using the Nail, just to take down the guy that was ranked lowered them him' she looked up at Wonderweiss. 'Given how powerful that second form makes them, it's suicide for even a Sternritter to take on an Espada alone right now!'
Cang then stared harshly at Liltotto. 'And it is even more suicidal, for a group of wounded soldiers to continue fighting an enemy that can easily body them' He retorted evenly and the woman went quiet. 'Leave...and I can assure you I will defeat this enemy, regardless of what power he wields'
The rest of the group looked at Cang in worry, but Liltotto just sighed and gestured to all of them to leave, and before she did the same she glance on look at her alley.
'Be sure to come back out of this alive Du' she demanded and then disappeared with the use of the flying step.
'Hmph...' Wonderweiss huffed. 'I don't know why you even bothered to send them all away. When I can just quickly kill you and come back for them later' He stretched out his claws. 'But then again it's not like you have any better options'
Cang then got into his fighting stance. 'If you think it is that simple then come at me then' he challenged.
(Soundtrack of Choice: Impatience)
The Espada then smiled in anticipation before lunging at the Sternritter with murderous intent and launching a barrage of fists and kicks upon his foe hoping to overpower him through sheer speed and might.
Yet Cang, much to Wonderweiss's confusion and frustration couldn't land a single blow on him. Despite him being faster and stronger than him, at the same time, Quincy never attempted to land a blow on the Arrancar himself.
Getting impatient the Espada then jumped away from the Sternritter and fired a massive Cero Oscuras that spanned over the horizon. The dense spiritual energy vaporized every single structure that was engulfed by it. All the while, the Arrancar boy smiled, knowing there was no way his enemy could escape it.
'Are you seriously going to stand around there like that?' Cang called up from behind Wonderweiss who looked at him in shock.
'But ho-'
'Don't be so daft' Cang interrupted. 'Yes, normally a cero of that scale would be impossible to dodge...if I had done it after it was fully charged' The Espada then looked at him in bafflement. 'But lucky for me you telegraph that attack so well that I was able to evade it in the split moment before it fired'
Wonderweiss then grunted in annoyance and then chuckled. 'Heh okay, I will admit you got pretty smart and nimble since our last fight I will give you that...' He then used sondio to appear on Cang's left side with a clawed arm already lunging at his face. 'But that can only take you so far!'
However, before the blow could land The Sternritter of the iron duck under the blow grabbed the arm and flung the Espada into the ground with a huge crash that sent dust and debris flying everywhere.
'Funny...' Cang responded passively. 'I was going to say something about you over-relying on your own transformations'
Wonderweiss then quickly got himself up from the ground. 'SHUT UP!' He roared before rushing at Cang again only for him to sidestep at the last minute and push on his back with enough force to send him ramming into a nearby office building.
'And also ironic...' Du then descended to where his foe landed. 'Once you said that we Sternritters rely too much on our Schrifts and are helpless when stripped away of them' He then glared at the rising form of Wonderweiss. 'But it is obvious that the same thing applies to you. When faced with an opponent you cannot easily depower and overwhelm'
The young Arrancar then chuckled before sneering at Cang. 'And you think you are that said opponent?' He spat in fury. 'I have already managed to take out one of your strongest Sternritters with ease and nearly several others had you not interfered' Wonderweiss then chuckled once more. 'And in the end for all your back talk the only thing you managed to do was evade and avoid me like a coward!'
The dark-haired man then raised an eyebrow and then looked down at his right hand. 'True I have been doing nothing but avoiding you...but that is simply because I wanted to get a feel of your fighting style and movements' He then gave the Espada a lowly look. 'And I have to say...I am sorely disappointed
WonderWeiss then rolled his eyes at him in spite. 'And you think I need actual skill to take you down?'
Cang then shook his head. 'It's not just a lack of skill it's a lack of instinct'
The Arrancar's blood then went cold.
'W-what did you say?' he stuttered and questioned, While the Sternrriter went on to answer.
'What I am saying is that you lack necessities of what even the lowliest of Hollows have, you lack the drive to win or even the will to survive and this is shown in no less than your fighting style. Where you purposelessly let yourself open, get easily distracted, and toy with your enemies constantly instead of immediately finishing them off' he then stared pitifully at the Arrancar. 'Even now you are holding yourself back just to wear yourself out'
WonderWeiss then remains silent for a long moment, before giving the Sternritter a broken smile.
'...So what?' The boy almost cried. 'So what if I don't have it in me to win or live?' he then laughed low and harshly. 'Such motivations...are irreverent in the grand scheme of things or at the very least when it comes to me and you Cang' He then walked towards the stoic Quincy. 'And you want to know why?' his spiritual power then began to rise. 'It's because in this reality and any other, sheer raw power is what decides everything and without it, such things like drive and will mean fucking squat and better left discarded into the void!'
Cang then looked at his foe in sympathy. 'And you child...are naive if you think that power can't be achieved by any of that' he then raises his glove.
'God's Shield!'
Suddenly Cang Du was engulfed in a pillar of light that then quickly shattered to reveal his holy form. Which was composed of two metal wings and gauntlets. While Wonderweiss stared at the Quincy with murderous intent and hatred.
Yet a vast majority of it was not directed towards him...
