Chapter 206

Hiccups POV:

It's been six hours since Ngalvod disappeared into the sky after taking Taz and Darce with him to who knows where, but I had the feeling that those two were going to receive proper punishment for their crimes. After that I spent time explaining things to all the warriors who had been freed from their chains and were very confused as to what happened to all of them. Once I had explained everything to them, they all left the mountain to return to their homes but not before promising me that they'd tell their leaders what has happened and that I'd be rewarded for saving them and their land.

I on the other hand stayed behind since I needed to do some thinking after what I'd just gone through which brings us to now, with me sitting on the edge of the mountain while looking out at outback with the sun only minutes from rising as I smoked my pipe. The reason for this is I couldn't help but feel the ache in my heart at the loss of my personal paradise where I had accomplished my life goal of creating a utopia for both human and dragons. Along with this I was also able to start a family and it was a world where I didn't fail to save Hadasa from the curse and allow her to live her life as a human in my life and not a flower in my garden. Giving up that life was not an easy thing for me to do in the least since it felt as if my very heart was being ripped out of my chest using blunt knives and rusty ones as well.

This was a pain that would last a long time and when it would come to an end, I have honestly no idea but even when it calms down, it would still be there, just as a phantom pain. It was then I heard footsteps with the sound of a gentle humming coming from behind me and took a breath knowing who it was immediately without needing to turn around. I pulled my pipe out of my mouth and let out a small puff of smoke and said.

"I wasn't expecting to see you here Koen." Koen walked up next to me and sat down with his legs dangling over the edge next to mine.

"When one of our warriors returned and you weren't with him, I grew concerned but then I remembered what happened to you and I figured you could use someone to talk to." I took another puff from my pipe.

"Yet it took you six hours to get here." He chuckled.

"Hiccup, I may be powerful mystic, but I am still an old man." I nodded.

"Judging from the fact that you know what happened, I'm guessing you really were the one who helped get me out of that prison I was trapped in." He nodded.

"The gods saw you needed help and although they were unable to pull you out of the prison, they were able to send me in to help break you out of your prison." I took a puff from my pipe.

"Do you think you could have waited at least a few more minutes." He chuckled.

"I am sorry my friend but if I waited any longer than I feared I would not have been able to pull you out." He then smiled. "I am sorry I had to ruin your fun though, I admit those women were quite pretty." I gave him a playful glare.

"Watch it as two of them were my wives and one was someone I deeply cared about." I unintentionally let a little pain sink into my voice when I said this last part and I'm guessing Koen noticed since he asked.

"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to her?" I took a puff from my pipe.

"She was being possessed by a plant demon and when it got out of her body, she became a flower that I planted in my garden." I sighed. "Not being able to truly save her is one of my life's greatest regrets and I'm guessing in my prison, I was able to bring her back and have a life with her." He nodded and patted my shoulder.

"I am sorry to hear that my friend." I nodded in thanks. "And what of the children, are they your own and waiting at home for you?" I shook my head.

"No, me and my wives don't have any children, but they are definitely something I've longed to have with the girls I love." I sighed. "I'm just not sure it's time to have kids though since I'm not done travelling the world yet and along with that, I'm not sure the girls are ready for this step in our lives." He nodded.

"There's more to it, something you didn't mention." I raised my hands before dropping them.

"Am I really that transparent." He shook his head.

"No, I just have a gift for reading people." I sighed.

"It's just that, I'm always travelling and taking on so many threats and even when I'm home I'm always so busy trying to keep things running smoothly." I looked down at my hands. "I'm just worried I won't be a good father to them." He patted my back.

"That is a fear we all have when we think about taking that next step in our lives and when it comes to how your wives feel, just talk with them as that is the best way to find out how they feel about it." I nodded.

"Thanks Koen." I then saw the sun begin to peak over the summit. "We better head back soon." He just smiled at me and raised a hand.

"Not yet, the sunrise is a truly beautiful thing to see from up here."

I could hear a bit of mischief in his voice but before I could ask him what he was thinking, he pointed towards the rising sun and I turned to watch. It was then the sun shone brighter than I'd ever seen before as the sound of a roar echoed across the land as a giant serpent flew from the rising sun and rapidly flew at us. In the time it took me to blink it was able fly over us and began rapidly circling us, creating a smaller portal compared to the one Ngalvod created. It was then a bag fell from the portal and landed on my lap before the serpent flew back towards the sun and vanished in a flash of green light. I looked down at the bag before turning to Koen who smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder as he said.

"You didn't honestly expect such a great deed to go unrewarded, did you?" He gestured to the bag. "In that bag you will find your reward for what you did, and I hope their gifts will help you in the future." I raised an eyebrow.

"You know what's in here?" He took his hand off my shoulder and shook his head.

"I do not but I am hoping one is a form of transport as the trip up this mountain nearly killed me." I chuckled as I stood up.

"Well we better get away from the edge since the last thing I want is for us to fall off the cliff in shock." He smiled and nodded before we walked away from the edge and then when we were a good bit away from the edge, we sat down across from each other, cross-legged. "Let's see what I was given from the gods of this land."

With that said I began unloading things out of the bag, one by one while stopping to examine each item for only a few seconds since I was eager to see everything it held. There was a small orange crystal shaped like a flame, standing on three curved legs and a tear shaped hole going through it which was the first thing I pulled out of the bag. This item was followed by a carved piece of wood I immediately recognized as a local weapon known as a 'boomerang' but this one had runes carved into it that were glowing light blue. Then came a golden frilled lizard statue that fit into the palm of my hand but I could feel the power within it and knew it was more than what it seems. Following this was a dark orange crystal piece that I recognized as a new island piece which I was looking forward to exploring after I put it in place. Finally, there was a single scale that looked to be constantly changing color and I knew it was a scale from Ngalvod which I'm guessing was a gift for my services. I looked over the gifts and whistled before I said.

"Now this look to be quite a few interesting gifts." Koen looked at me.

"You know what these items do." I shook my head.

"No but finding out the capabilities of the gifts is part of the fun of getting new stuff from the gods." He chuckled. "Now let's get to work."

2 weeks later

It's been two weeks since the day I received the gifts from the gods and those days have been spent studying my gifts and finding out all their capabilities. To begin with there's the crystal flame that I learned could grow to the same size as my torso and then let out the same heat of a regular fire without the smoke and when I held food in the opening in the middle, it would cook. This thing was basically a crystalized fire that could still be used meaning it was a portable campfire that I could use wherever I went without fear of it being extinguished. I knew it would be helpful in the colder regions where wood is scarce or where the wind picks up quickly meaning, maintaining a flame would be hard to do.

Then there's the boomerang that I admit looked normal at first but when I tried it out, I learnt it was anything but a normal boomerang considering its abilities. To begin with I started out by throwing it like a regular boomerang but I was shocked when it never stopped flying or turning around like a regular boomerang until I held my hand up which is when it spun around and returned to my hand. After this I tried using it against a dead tree and learnt that it could cut through the wood as if it were made of butter so I knew it would come in handy for taking enemies out. Along with this I learnt that I could it to target something while it's still in the air after slicing something up from when I first throw it. I learnt this ability when I threw it at a tree branch but then while the boomerang was flying away I decided to use a boulder as the next target but before I could summon my boomerang back to me it attacked the boulder. What's more it didn't stop until I summoned it back to my arm at which point the boulder was close to being nothing more than a pile of rubble.

There's also the frilled lizard that I learnt was meant to give my prosthetic a major upgrade with a new ranged attack that I had to say was pretty powerful. After I picked it up in the palm of my prosthetic it came to life as the wrist lifted up allowing it to crawl into my prosthetic. This was followed by an immense pain that always comes when my prosthetic gets an upgrade and once the pain was done, I was able to check out what it was able to do. I was now able to make a golden lizards frill come out from my wrist and at first, I didn't know what it did until I notice it was not only reflecting the suns light, it was absorbing it. When I felt the suns light flow into my arm and I had to admit it felt strange but in a good way and when I felt it was full I thrust my arm forward and was shocked by what happened. A beam of light like the one my Egyptian statues create shot out of my fist but unlike the beam my statues made which was huge and makes things explode, this one was the size of my fist and goes right through the target, leaving a hot hole going through it. This was not a weapon I was going to take lightly but I was definitely going to be using it against the more powerful beasts I face if I wanted to avoid getting close to them.

Finally, there's the scale that like the frilled lizard was pulled into my arm from the wrist and like the lizard, it was painful for a few seconds before it stopped. When it was done my prosthetic now had a new engraving on it in the form of Ngalvod wrapping around the upper part, of my arm and I knew it was his blessing. Still though I felt that there might be more to it than meets the eye, but this is something that I knew only time would tell so all I could do was wait. Still though I was grateful for this since it means I'll be able to open a portal back to my island but first I needed to find a good spot to set it up.

Besides getting used to my new gifts, I'd been communicating with my wives using my wedding ring who then, spoke to those on Berk who were curious to know what I'd been up to. It was during this time I told them about the land and all I'd learnt about it from the people but I didn't tell them about my latest, life risking adventure though since that is something I'd prefer to tell them in person. Besides that, I learnt from them that everyone was eager to find out what my latest expedition involved and if I'd gone up against any monsters yet. It was mainly the twins who wanted to know this since they always enjoyed watching me fight them and how I take them out with the more violent battles being their favorite unsurprisingly.

When I wasn't talking to my wives though I was spending time out in the land enjoying the strange beauty it held but I did have a bit of trouble with the occasional predator, seeing me as a threat and attacking me when I was sitting down to enjoy some water. These were mainly just venomous snakes that I'd just restrain with my prosthetic by grabbing their heads before tossing them away and allowing them to slither off. The only other problem I had were dingo's, but they weren't difficult to deal with since I'd mostly just have to throw them a piece of meat and they'd leave me alone. Some of these dingo's would even reappear from time to time and sit down in front of me as if they were asking for me to give them some more meat, which I was always happy to do.

I'd especially grown close to a male who I believe left his pack since I learnt from Koen that they often did this since they either preferred to live in solitude or wish to form their own pack. It reached the point where I woke up one morning and left my tent to find him lying outside, waiting for me alongside Koen who the dingo was growling at. I tossed the dingo a piece of meat calming him before Koen chuckled and told me I'd gained a new friend who seemed to be very protective of me. I just told him that the dingo just wanted the meat I gave him before Koen went onto explain that there were occasions where dingo's raised by people return to the wild but occasionally, they'll bond with humans again. This explained why this dingo wasn't so hostile towards me when most just took the meat I gave, glared at me and then ran off back into the outback. Koen could tell I'd formed a good bond with it and it would look to me as its master from now on so I'd named the male dingo Warraguland he'd now accompany me on my trips into the outback.

My little trips into the outback with him lead to me discover a female kangaroo with an injured leg and a joey in her pouch that had to be four months old at most, surrounded by a pack of dingo's that I'd fed from time to time. Because of this I knew they'd listen to me if I tossed them a few large chunks of meat and they ran off, leaving the mother alone with me. I could tell she was just being protective of her little one but the wound on her leg was bad and if it wasn't taken care of then she'd be easy prey for multiple predators and her little one would be a snack for them. I could tell it didn't trust me so I used my calming flute to get close and then used a small puff of my knockout gas to put it to sleep before I carried it back to the village to tend to its wound. Thanks to Koens skills she was back on her feet just a day before she took off with her joey without a second glance, but Koen patted my shoulder and told me she was grateful, but her offspring comes first. I still see her hanging around the edge of village probably thinking it was safer for her and her young to remain close to those who helped her.

Now I was standing at the portal door I'd opened with Warragulat my side, Koen and Ngarra in front of me and all my gifts from the gods, stored in my spiderpack except for my boomerang that was now in my prosthetic. Ngarra stepped forward smiling and said.

"Hiccup, my people will never be able to thank you for all you have done for us and how you were able to rescue Ngalvod saving our land." I shrugged.

"No need to thank me, I was just doing what needed to be done." He chuckled.

"Humble as ever." I just smiled.

"It's who I am." Koen then walked forward.

"Never change Hiccup and although it may be some time, I look forward to seeing you again." I smiled.

"The feeling's mutual but next time, let's leave the need to face evil psychopaths and dark spirits, out of the trip." He chuckled before he pulled out a single knife with patterns resembling Ngalvod carved into it.

"A little souvenir to remind you of the battle since you could not bring back a souvenir from it." I smiled and put the blade away in my coat, allowing my spiderpack to take it.

"Thankyou." They both bowed before I allowed the portal door to open behind me. "I'll see you both next time I visit."

They both nodded before I turned back to the portal with Warragulat my side and made my way through to return home to my island. Before I could make my way through fully though the sound of something rushing towards me caught my attention and I turned to see the kangaroo rushing towards me. When she reached me, she stared as if she wanted to know where I was going, making me smile and gently pat her head as I asked.

"You two come to see me off?" She just stared at me before Koen chuckled.

"I believe she wants to go with you Hiccup." I raised an eyebrow. "Can't blame her though, she knows that with you, she and her joey will be safe and it's easy to tell she trusts you." I smiled.

"Alright then girl, let's go home." With that said I lead her and Warragul through the portal door.

10 minutes later

I was back on my island and partially covered in dragon slobber thanks to my dragons being happy to see me back home where I belonged but easy to tell they scared the islands new inhabitants so I had my dragons back off while I played my calming flute. Once they were calmed down, I took them to my barn until I could set up the new island piece where they'd be able to roam to their hearts content. After I made sure they were comfortable and wouldn't be a bother to the other animals I took off on Toothless towards the statue so I could add the new island piece. Along the way though I used my automatons to see what was happening around my island and Berk before I saw everyone was pretty much doing their own thing with Astrid, helping train the riders while Blanca was in the gazebo enjoying tea with Verta.

Now I was standing in front of the statue and pulled out the new island piece and watched as the map of my island rose up from the ground before the piece flew out of my hand and took its place circling around the coliseum by the forest. When I took a look at it using my spyglass, I saw it looked to be an environment of the Australian Outback and knew it would be perfect for my island's new inhabitants. I turned to Toothless and said.

"Come on bud, let's go check out the new section of our home." He growled and nodded before I mounted him, and we took off.

3 hours later

It's been three hours since I released my new island piece and that time had been spent letting everyone know I'm back from my trip, doing a fly over the new island section, releasing the new inhabitants into the new section and getting a kiss from each of my wives. The last hour had been spent using my illusion spider to show them all what happened in Australia and all I accomplished while I was there. When it came to my fights against the yara-ma-yha-who's the twins thought they looked pretty cool while everyone else felt they looked disturbing and I had to agree with those people. The only thing I didn't show them was my fantasy since that was something, I proffered to keep that to myself and after showing them all came the question and answer session. This leads to now with me sitting down in the great hall in front of the people going through the question and answer session with the people. It was then Snotlout yelled out.

"HEY HICCUP!" I turned to him a little annoyed before I asked.

"Yes Snotlout?"

"We all saw what happened when you first met that shadow thing and weird guy and what happened when you broke free." I nodded. "But you never showed us what happened in that prison you were trapped in that would make you want to stay in it like that weird guy said?"

"It just put me in my vision of my own perfect life." He raised an eyebrow.

"Your perfect life?" I nodded and took a sip of my drink. "So, it was your life as it is now." I shook my head.

"It was different."

"How is your life not perfect now?" Before I could reply he continued with. "You have two hot wives, your own island, a fortune in jewels and gold, multiple houses across the world, you've been to Valhalla, incredible skills in so many things and you're the next chief of Berk." I nodded. "What could that perfect life you were in have, that you don't have now?" This was a question I was hoping to avoid since that ideal life of mine was personal, so I simply looked down.

"That's for me and me alone to know." With that said I stood up. "And this brings an end to the question and answer session as I have things I need to do today so I will bid you all a good day and return to my island so I can begin exploring the new island section." With that said I left but as I did my mind thought back to the fantasy and knew there was something I needed to do.

5 minutes later

I was at the back of my garden looking down at a single white rose I planted a long time ago, but this was not just any flower, this flower was once the woman Hadasa. She was a woman who while under the influence of a demon named Arbutus took over a city and turned me into her devoted husband who lived to be with her and see her happy. When I finally broke out of her control, I knew my feelings for her were made but I could easily tell the feelings she had for me was real and I thought she would be the woman I shared my life with until Arbutus got in the way and made his existence known. Once Arbutus was defeated there was nothing, I could do to save her and all I could do for her was honor her last request before moving her flower body to my garden. It was then I sensed someone approaching me before the voice of Astrid said.

"So, this is where you were." I nodded. "We figured you'd be exploring the new island section." I sighed.

"I will but for now I just need to think about some things." Blanca then asked.

"Is this about what happened in that prison that trapped you in your ideal life?" I nodded before Astrid walked up next to me and rested her hand on my shoulder.

"Hiccup, we want to help you but before we can help you, we need to know what happened in that prison that makes it so different from what you have now." I took a breath.

"Alright, I'll tell you." Before I looked up and turned to them. "We're going to need to find a place to sit then since if I'm going to tell you this, I'd like to be comfortable." Before I could begin walking away Blanca placed a hand on my shoulder making me turn to face her to see her gently smile.

"I feel it best we hear the story here." She gently forced me down to the ground as she walked behind me and sat on her knees before she gently lay me back, so my head was on her lap while Astrid sat down next to me and said.

"Alright, let's hear what's this ideal life of yours has that you don't have here." I took a breath.

"I was able to achieve my goal of a dragon, Viking utopia." I smiled at the memory before I frowned. "I never failed to save Hadasa and she was one of my wives alongside with the both of you, we had a life together." I closed my eyes. "Each of you had given me a child, I had become the father to two daughters and a son." I sighed and rubbed my eyes. "They each had a dragon of their own who was a hatchling off Toothless and one of the furies." The girls giggled before Astrid said.

"So, he was able to get together with the females instead of getting a rejection with one of their blasts." I sighed.

"Yeah and I'm guessing the reason he didn't fail in my ideal life is because he's my best friend and I want him to be happy." They nodded before Blanca gently caressed my face.

"Hiccup, we may not be able to give you the children in your ideal life, but we will one day give you children." I smiled.

"And I'll love them all the same." I turned to the flower that was Hadasa. "I just wish Hadasa could be a part of it." Astrid gently ran a hand through my hair.

"Hiccup, when love is real it'll find a way." I looked at her. "That's something I've learnt from the relationship we all share." I smiled at her before I pushed my body up.

"Thanks for listening to me girls." They smiled at me.

"We're your wives, it's part of our job." I rolled my eyes while smiling and slowly getting up.

"Well I better get to the new island section to do some exploring and to release the islands new inhabitants." Astrid smiled.

"And what animals did you bring back this time?" I turned to her and smiled.

"I'll show you." With that said we left the garden but not before I turned back to the white rose and said goodbye to it.

Nightfall

It's been hours since I visited Hadasa in the garden and told my wives what happened in my own personal paradise prison and the majority of that time I had mostly been exploring the new island section while also helping the new inhabitants settle in. Warragul had dug himself a nest to sleep in while the kangaroo who I'd named Kalina took off with her joey who I'd named Tau, the minute we entered the new land section. I couldn't blame her though since I wanted to explore the new piece myself and took off to check it out and see what this new section had to offer since it mostly looked like a desert land.

I spent an hour exploring the new island piece before I found a cave built into a large mountain, but the entrance was covered in multiple paintings of the lands people. This was something that showed me that the cave was not normal, so I decided to investigate it a bit more and found myself walking down a long tunnel, decorated with paintings depicting the dreamtime. When I reached the end of the tunnel, I found myself in a cavern with a single stone pedestal with a didgeridoo in the middle of it with carvings into the pipe making it look like scales. The end of the digeridoo was carved into the shape of the serpent with the tail that was carved into it leading up to the head, so it looked like the rainbow serpent and pretty cool as well.

Figuring it couldn't hurt to give the digeridoo a try, so I took it off the pedestal and began playing it and listened to the sound of the music coming out of the mouth. For a few seconds I just played it and listened to the music until a navy-blue mist began seeping out of the mouth, but I couldn't stop playing for some reason as the mist quickly filled the cavern. Once it was completely filled the mist cleared but I wasn't in the cave anymore, it looked as if I were standing in the void that was filled with multiple stars that were a multitude of different colors. It was then I heard the roar of the rainbow serpent and looked up to see it flying in the distance as the stars began moving around, forming a beautiful scene. It was in this scene I surprisingly felt truly at peace in this scene and I knew I'd be visiting this place a lot in the future since it really was a nice place to be.

After that I spent most of my day letting the islands inhabitants know I was home, washing off the saliva from the licks from my dragons and cleaning up Toothless after another failed attempt to woo the female furies. Following the cleanup of my dragon and best friend, I had to take a bath to wash off the excess goo and soot along with the saliva from his sloppy thankyou licks. This bath was followed by a quiet dinner with my wives who prepared my favorite meal to welcome me back. After dinner I went to the library for some quiet reading before bed but when I did get to bed my wives officially welcomed me back and this leads up to now.

With me lying in bed with no clothes and my wives on either side, also wearing nothing but unlike me they were fast asleep while I was laying down and staring at the ceiling. No matter how hard I tried sleep continue to elude me due to the thoughts that continued to plague my mind, all these thoughts were connected to my personal prison and the talk I had with the girls about it. It kept me thinking about my future with kids and if Astrid was right about love finding a way to bring Hadasa back to her true form so I could share my life with her or let her free to live her life as she chooses. I let out a sigh and closed my eyes to try forgetting about my problems for now or at the very least join my wives in the realm of sleep.

Nobodies POV:

The light of the moon shone down on the mountain where the villains Taz and Darce were defeated but it is through the darkness of the night a figure made their way across the top of the mountain. The figure stopped in front of one of the smashed ruin stones that once held the serpent Ngalvod and kneeled before picking up the rubble one piece at a time and placing each piece into a leather bag. When he finished loading the bag up, he looked at the full bag smiling as he said.

"Rubble to others but despite the destruction of the rune stones, these still possess a great deal of magic." The figure sealed the bag. "Perfect for helping my master return to this world once they've absorbed some magic." With that said the figure jumped off the edge of the mountain and disappeared into the darkness of the night.

AN: And that brings an end to this chapter and a reappearance of the mysterious figure but who this figure is and who the master he serves is something that shall be revealed at a later time. In the meantime I've been told I should try taking some time off to replenish my creative juices and I have to agree with the one who advised me to if the last few chapters are anything to go by so sorry. I will however be posting a poll on my profile and I ask that you vote so I know your thoughts on some things so keep an eye out. Next week Sunday the Poll will be taken down and replaced with another so keep an eye out for that one to and sorry for the delay in the next chapter but please review kindly and have a nice day.
