Two weeks ago

In Paris, a bright sunny day paints the city with a golden hue, casting long shadows across the cobblestone streets. The Seine glimmers under the azure sky, as people stroll along its banks, savoring the warmth on their skin. Café terraces buzz with chatter, as the aroma of freshly baked croissants fills the air. The Eiffel Tower stands tall, its silhouette against the clear sky, while parks burst with colorful blooms, inviting locals and tourists alike to bask in the beauty of the day.

As Marinette drives through the sunlit streets of Paris, the gentle breeze carries the scent of spring blossoms through her open window. Arriving at her studio, she greets everyone with a warm smile and a friendly "Bonjour" as she makes her way to her office. The sunlight streaming through the windows fills the space with a soft glow, inspiring creativity and fueling her passion for design.

"Bonjour, everyone!" Marinette's cheerful voice echoed through the sunlit studio, her arrival marking the start of another vibrant day in Paris.

"Bonjour, Marinette!" The chorus of replies was accompanied by smiles and nods from her colleagues, their faces illuminated by the warm rays pouring in through the large windows.

"Beautiful day, isn't it?" Marinette remarked, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm as she set down her bag adorned with playful designs of ladybugs. Ladybugs are her trademark inspired by her dad's nickname for her.

"Absolutely gorgeous," agreed one of her coworkers, leaning back in his chair to steal a quick glance out the window at the cloudless sky stretching endlessly above the city.

"It's putting me in such a good mood," Marinette said with a grin, her fingers absently tracing patterns on her sketchpad as she made her way to her office, passing by shelves lined with bolts of colorful fabric and inspiration boards adorned with sketches and swatches. "Let's make today a productive one, shall we?" she called over her shoulder, her voice filled with determination and positivity.

In the heart of Paris, nestled within the opulent walls of a majestic mansion, Tikki, the head maid, started on her daily journey to the study. The grandeur of the mansion enveloped her with its rich tapestries and ornate chandeliers as she glided across the polished marble floors. With practiced grace, Tikki approached the study, her keen senses attuned to every creak of the antique floorboards beneath her feet. Ready to attend to the needs of the mistresses of the house, Tikki exuded an air of quiet efficiency, her dedication to her duties unwavering amidst the splendor of her surroundings.

As Tikki entered the study, Mei glanced up from her sewing, her eyes alight with excitement. "Can you believe Marinette's wedding is just around the corner?" She remarked.

Tikki nodded, a fond smile gracing her lips. "It feels like just yesterday she was a young girl playing in these halls."

Mei chuckled softly. "Time flies, indeed. Have you heard about the dress she has chosen?"

Tikki shook her head. "Not yet. But knowing Marinette, it'll be absolutely stunning."

Mei paused in her stitching, a shadow passing over her face. "It's been quite a journey, raising Marinette after Sabine and Tom passed away," she said softly, her voice tinged with both sorrow and pride.

Tikki nodded sympathetically. "You've done an incredible job. Marinette has grown into such a remarkable young woman."

Mei smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Tikki. And having Lila by her side all these years... They've truly become like sisters."

Tikki's eyes softened. "It's heartwarming to see their bond. They've supported each other through so much."

Meanwhile, in her room, Lila was getting ready for the day when her phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was Alya calling. With a practiced smile, she answered. "Hey, Alya," she greeted, her voice laced with false enthusiasm.

"Hey, Lila! Just wanted to make sure you'll be early to help decorate for the party tonight," Alya said cheerfully.

Lila forced another smile. "Of course, Alya. I'll be there bright and early," she replied, her tone dripping with insincerity.

After Lila hung up, she let out a frustrated sigh, muttering to herself, "Alya can wait. I have more important things to do than decorate for a dumb bachelorette party."

Later on, as Marinette delves into a meeting about the new designs in her collection, the atmosphere brims with creative energy. Sketches and fabric samples adorn the table, while her team discusses patterns, colors, and silhouettes. Suddenly, amidst the flurry of ideas, the topic of her upcoming wedding in Paris emerges, casting a different kind of glow in the room. Laughter and excited chatter fill the air as Marinette's colleagues share their thoughts and suggestions, adding a touch of personal warmth to the professional setting. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the fashion world, love and celebration find their place, intertwining seamlessly with creativity and dedication.

"Alright, let's focus on the new designs for the spring collection," Marinette said, her tone businesslike as she directed the conversation to the task at hand.

"But speaking of spring, Marinette, how's the wedding planning going?" Chloe, one of her closest friends and colleagues, chimed in with a mischievous grin, her eyes twinkling with curiosity.

Marinette couldn't help but laugh at Chloe's enthusiasm. "It's going well, thank you for asking! We're finalizing some details, like the flowers and the menu. It's all so exciting."

"Ooh, Paris in the springtime! How romantic!" Alya, Marinette's best friend, exclaimed, leaning forward eagerly. "Have you decided on a dress yet?"

Marinette nodded, a soft blush gracing her cheeks as her fiance was standing next to her. "Yes, I think I've found the perfect one. It's classic yet modern, just like I envisioned. And the venue we'll be at my house... it's going to be absolutely magical."

"Can't wait to see how it turns out!" Jay, Marinette's fiancé and the model for her fashion line, chimed in with a playful smile. "But for now, let's focus on these designs. We have a deadline to meet, remember?"

The group nodded in agreement, returning their attention to the sketches and swatches laid out before them. The soft hum of conversation mixed with the scratching of pencils on paper filled the room, as they delved deeper into the intricacies of their work. Amidst the excitement of wedding planning and the pressure of meeting deadlines, Marinette remained grounded in her passion for fashion, eager to bring her vision to life on the runway.

As Lila descended the stairs, her sleek, elegant figure caught Mei's eye from the study doorway.

"Lila, you look so beautiful. Where are you going?" Mei's voice carried a warm tone.

"With Alya," Lila replied with a practiced smile. "I'm going to help her decorate for Marinette's bachelorette party."

"Oh, I'll go with you. That way the three of us can finish quickly. Let me just go get changed into my dress," Mei suggested, already heading up the stairs with purpose.

"No," Lila interjected quietly, her smile masking any reluctance. "I'm sorry, but I can't wait for you. Plus, are you really in the mood to go to a bachelorette party?"

"Well, I think that it will be fun," Mei hesitated, pausing on the staircase to meet Lila's gaze.

"What do you plan to do, Mom?" Lila's tone held a hint of mockery. "You'll be the only elderly woman at the party. I know Alya invited you, but it's a party for young women."

The sting of Lila's words lingered in Mei's expression, her smile now tinged with sadness. "Alya didn't tell me that, but I guess you're right."

"I advise you not to go, so you don't feel out of place," Lila's smile remained fixed as she turned to leave.

Just then, Tikki emerged from the kitchen, observing the scene with curiosity. "Madame Mei, Marinette just called and said that she has a very complicated day so she can't come to pick you up, but to tell the driver to take you to Alya's house around 4."

"I don't think that I'm going," Mei replied, her forced smile not quite reaching her eyes.

Tikki's surprise was evident as she spoke, "Why not if you already have your dress ready?"

"Yes, but I'm feeling really tired, and it's a party for young women. I have no place there. I'm going to call Alya to let her know," Mei explained, continuing her ascent up the stairs towards her room.

Lila stood confidently in front of an apartment door, her excitement evident as she anticipated the events that were about to come. She knocked, a mischievous grin playing on her lips.

The door swung open, revealing Jay standing there with a smirk, his eyes twinkling with anticipation. Lila's grin widened as she stepped inside.

As Jay closed the door behind her, Lila turned to face him, a playful glint in her eyes. "Hey there! Ready for some fun?" she teased, her voice laced with anticipation.

Jay chuckled softly, his smirk growing wider. "Always," he replied, his tone filled with eagerness as he led her further into the apartment.

Lila felt a rush of excitement at the prospect of their time together. As they settled in, the thrill of their forbidden romance enveloped them, their connection strong and unapologetic. For Lila and Jay, this clandestine affair was a thrilling escape, a shared secret they shared without hesitation.

Before the bachelorette party, Alya received a call from Mei expressing her regrets about not being able to attend.

"Hey Mei, what's up?" Alya answered cheerfully.

"Hey Alya, I'm calling to let you know that I'm not going to be able to make it to Marinette's bachelorette party tonight," Mei's voice sounded slightly strained.

Alya's brows furrowed in concern. "Oh no, is everything okay?"

Mei sighed. "I'm just not feeling well today. I've been feeling tired and a bit under the weather, so I think it's best for me to rest at home."

Alya's expression softened with understanding. "I'm sorry to hear that, Mei. Don't worry about the party. Your health comes first. Do you need anything?"

Mei chuckled softly. "Thanks, Alya. I'll be okay. Just tell Marinette I'm sorry I couldn't make it, and I'll make it up to her soon."

"Of course, Mei. Take care of yourself, okay? We'll miss you tonight," Alya replied, her tone filled with genuine concern.

"Thanks, Alya. Have fun, and give Marinette my love," Mei said before ending the call.

Alya sighed, feeling a twinge of worry for Mei but also relieved that she had reached out. She made a mental note to update Marinette about Mei's condition when she saw her at the party. With that, she returned her focus to the preparations, hoping that Mei would feel better soon.

As the afternoon sun began to cast long shadows across the studio, Marinette realized it was time to leave work early to attend to some last-minute wedding preparations. With a quick goodbye to her team, she grabbed her bag adorned with playful ladybug designs and hurried out of the bustling studio.

Outside, the golden glow of the setting sun bathed the streets of Paris in a warm embrace, casting a magical aura over the city. Marinette hurried along the cobblestone sidewalks, her mind buzzing with thoughts of the upcoming wedding and the tasks that awaited her.

Rushing to her car parked nearby, Marinette hopped in and drove off towards her first destination: a quaint Parisian boutique. With the wind in her hair and excitement in her heart, she navigated the streets with ease, her anticipation growing with each passing moment.

Arriving at the boutique, Marinette stepped inside, greeted by the scent of fresh flowers and the soft melody of classical music playing in the background. She exchanged a warm smile with the shopkeeper before diving into the racks of wedding gowns, searching for the perfect accessories to complement her dress.

After selecting a delicate veil and a pair of elegant heels, Marinette made her way to a nearby florist to pick out the final touches for her bouquet. With expert guidance from the florist, she chose a stunning arrangement of seasonal blooms, each one carefully selected to complement her wedding theme.

With her wedding preparations complete, Marinette got back into her car and headed straight to Alya's house for the bachelorette party. As she drove through the bustling streets of Paris, a sense of excitement bubbled up inside her. Tonight was about celebrating with her closest friends and letting loose before the whirlwind of wedding festivities began.

With a smile on her face and a heart full of anticipation, Marinette arrived at Alya's house, ready to kick off the bachelorette festivities in style.

Later that day Lila and Jay sat in the dimly lit living room, their voices hushed as they discussed their ongoing affair and the plan they had concocted. Jay's engagement to Marinette added a layer of complexity to their scheme, especially given Lila's disdain for her. Jay leaned in close, his expression serious as he reiterated their strategy.

"Now that I'm engaged to Marinette, we need to be more cautious than ever," Jay began, his voice low but resolute. "We'll continue our affair in secret until after the wedding. Then, once we're married, I'll file for divorce and secure my share of her assets."

Lila nodded, her eyes gleaming with determination as she absorbed Jay's words. "And then we can finally be together, without her standing in our way," she added, a hint of contempt in her voice.

"Exactly," Jay affirmed, his gaze intense as he met Lila's eyes. "But until then, we need to be careful. We can't let anyone suspect what we're planning, especially Marinette."

Lila's heart raced with anticipation at the thought of their eventual escape from Marinette's influence. "I understand," she replied, her voice filled with determination. "We'll keep our affair discreet and stick to the plan, no matter what."

Just then, Lila's phone buzzed with a reminder, and she glanced at the screen with a sigh. "I need to go soon," she said reluctantly, her disdain for Marinette evident in her tone. "It's her bachelorette party tonight, and I can't avoid it."

Jay nodded understandingly, his expression sympathetic. "Be careful," he cautioned, his own feelings towards Marinette of obligation. "We can't afford any slip-ups, especially with her."

With a nod of agreement, Lila rose from her seat, steeling herself for the upcoming ordeal. "I'll see you soon," she said softly, her gaze lingering on Jay for a moment longer before she turned to leave.

As Lila headed out the door, her mind filled with thoughts of the evening ahead, she couldn't shake the feeling of resentment towards Marinette. But with their plan in motion, she knew that every step she took brought her one step closer to the future she and Jay had dreamed of rich and together.

As Marinette stepped into Alya's beautifully decorated apartment, she was greeted by the excited chatter of her closest friends. The room was adorned with streamers, balloons, and an array of delicious snacks spread out on the table.

"Marinette!" Alya exclaimed, rushing over to give her friend a tight hug. "We're so glad you're here! Welcome to your bachelorette party!"

Marinette beamed, feeling a rush of gratitude for her friends' thoughtfulness. "Thank you all so much for putting this together," she said warmly, looking around at the familiar faces of Chloe, Rose, Juleka, Mylene, and Alix.

Chloe, always the life of the party, grinned mischievously. "Get ready for a night of fun and surprises, Marinette!"

Alya nodded in agreement, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "We have games, snacks, and even a little something special planned for you later," she teased, winking playfully.

Rose, the epitome of sweetness, chimed in with a smile. "And don't worry, Marinette. Everything will be completely wholesome," she reassured, earning a round of laughter from the group.

Juleka, ever the supportive friend, stepped forward with a shy smile. "We just want you to have the best time before your big day," she said softly, her sincerity evident in her words.

Mylene, full of energy as always, bounced on her toes eagerly. "Let's kick things off with a game!" she suggested, reaching for a deck of cards on the table.

Alix, the adventurous one of the group, nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a plan. What do you say, Marinette? Ready to have some fun?" she asked with a grin.

Marinette nodded enthusiastically, feeling grateful for the love and support of her friends. "Absolutely! Let the bachelorette festivities begin!" she exclaimed, ready to make memories that would last a lifetime with her closest friends by her side.

As the bachelorette party buzzed with energy, Alya found a quiet moment to draw Marinette aside, sensing her friend's unease.

"Marinette, I spoke with Mei earlier," Alya began gently, her tone soft yet reassuring.

Marinette's eyes widened with concern. "Is everything okay with her?" she asked, her voice tinged with worry.

Alya nodded, offering a comforting smile. "She's not feeling well, Marinette. Mei called me earlier to say that she's feeling tired and decided not to come to the party tonight."

Marinette's shoulders sagged with relief, though she still felt a pang of concern for her aunt. "Oh, I hope she'll be alright," she murmured, grateful for Alya's update.

Alya squeezed Marinette's hand reassuringly. "Me too, Marinette. But she assured me that she just needs some rest. Let's focus on enjoying the party and celebrating your special night," she suggested, hoping to lift Marinette's spirits.

Marinette nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "You're right, Alya. Thank you for letting me know," she said, feeling a sense of gratitude for her friend's support.

With Alya's comforting words in mind, Marinette returned to the festivities, ready to immerse herself in the joy of the celebration surrounded by her closest friends.

As Marinette and Alya mingled amidst the party, Marinette couldn't help but notice the absence of another friend and family member.

"Hey, Alya, have you seen Lila around?" Marinette inquired, a curious expression on her face.

Alya's brows furrowed slightly, a hint of irritation flickering across her features. "No, I haven't seen her," she replied curtly, her tone tinged with frustration.

Marinette sensed Alya's annoyance and furrowed her brows in concern. "Is everything okay, Alya? You seem a bit tense," she remarked, her voice filled with concern.

Alya let out a frustrated sigh, her irritation evident. "I just wish I knew where Lila was. She was supposed to help me decorate for the party, but she never showed up," she explained, her tone tinged with disappointment.

Marinette's expression softened with understanding. "I'm sorry to hear that, Alya. Maybe she got held up with something. I'm sure she didn't mean to let you down," she offered, trying to console her friend.

Alya nodded, though her frustration still lingered. "Yeah, maybe you're right. I just wish she would have let me know," she muttered, her tone still tinged with annoyance.

Marinette placed a comforting hand on Alya's arm. "I'm here if you need anything, Alya. Let's not let this spoil the party. We'll figure it out," she said reassuringly, offering her friend a supportive smile.

With Marinette's comforting words, Alya's tense expression softened slightly, and she nodded in gratitude. "Thanks, Marinette. Let's focus on enjoying the party," she agreed, her tone more relaxed as they returned to the festivities together.

At that moment there was a knock on the door and Alya went to open it. It was Lila holding her usual fake smile and a gift bag in her right hand. "Nice of you to join us Lila I didn't think you were coming."

"Well you were wrong." Lila replied before walking in and headed straight to Marinette and hugged her. "Marinette, congratulations."

Marinette hugged back. "Thanks Lila but where were you?"

"I was getting your gift but it took longer than I thought." Lila replied as they broke the hug. She then handed the gift bag to Marinette.

Marinette happily opened the gift bag and it was a ladybug theme scrapbook with the names of Marinette and Jay on it. "I love it, Lila, thank you."

"I wanted to give you something very special. Something that showed my sisterly love." Lila replied. "This scrapbook has room for your wedding and honeymoon pictures so enjoy it."

'Enjoy it Marinette because that will be the only thing you'll have of Jay Land. Memories only memories.'

After Mei finished a call with a family friend, Tikki gracefully served her a cup of steaming tea, her movements imbued with a sense of quiet elegance. With a gentle smile, Tikki placed the delicate china cup in front of Mei, the fragrant aroma of the tea filling the air.

Mei sighed contentedly as she accepted the cup, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort wash over her. "Thank you, Tikki," she said softly, her gratitude evident in her tone.

Tikki nodded in acknowledgment, her expression serene as she took a step back to give Mei a moment of quiet reflection.

As Mei took a sip of the fragrant tea, her thoughts drifted to the upcoming wedding. She couldn't help but feel a sense of joy knowing that so many of their loved ones would be there to celebrate Marinette's special day.

"It's going to be a beautiful wedding," Mei remarked, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she savored the soothing warmth of the tea.

Tikki smiled gently, her eyes reflecting Mei's sentiment. "Indeed, Madame Mei. Marinette's wedding will be a celebration to remember," she agreed, her voice soft and reassuring.

With each sip of tea, Mei felt a sense of anticipation building within her. She knew that Marinette's wedding would be a joyous occasion, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. And as she sat in the opulent study of the mansion, surrounded by the quiet elegance of her surroundings and the comforting presence of Tikki, Mei couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and happiness that Marinette brought into their lives.

As Mei and Tikki continued their conversation over tea, Mei couldn't help but express her happiness for Marinette finding a wonderful partner in Jay.

"You know, Tikki, Marinette has found such a great man in Jay," Mei remarked, her tone filled with genuine affection. "He truly adores her, and you can see how much they care for each other."

Tikki nodded in agreement, her wise gaze filled with understanding. "Yes, indeed, Madame Mei. Jay is a fine young man, and he brings out the best in Marinette. They make a lovely couple."

Mei smiled warmly, her heart swelling with pride for her niece. "They do, don't they? I'm so grateful that Marinette has found someone who loves and supports her unconditionally."

As Mei took another sip of tea, her thoughts turned to her own daughter, Lila. Despite their differences, Mei couldn't help but hope that Lila would find happiness and love of her own one day.

"I just hope that Lila finds someone who makes her as happy as Jay makes Marinette," Mei said softly, her voice tinged with a hint of wistfulness.

Tikki regarded Mei with a gentle smile, her expression full of compassion. "I'm sure she will, Madame Mei. Everyone deserves to find love and happiness in their lives," she replied, her words imbued with wisdom.

Mei nodded in agreement, her gaze thoughtful. "You're right, Tikki. I suppose love has a way of finding us when we least expect it," she mused, her heart filled with hope for Lila's future.

Mei soon started to confide in Tikki about her plans to leave the mansion, Tikki's understanding gaze softened with empathy. Mei's hesitation was palpable, her words carrying the weight of uncertainty.

"Tikki," Mei continued, her voice tinged with apprehension, "I've been thinking a lot about the future lately. Lila and I... I'm not sure if staying is the right decision."

Tikki listened intently, her features reflecting a mixture of concern and compassion. "Madame Mei, it's understandable to feel conflicted about such a significant change," she offered gently, her voice a soothing presence in the midst of Mei's turmoil.

Mei nodded, her expression troubled as she grappled with her emotions. "The truth is, Tikki, Lila doesn't want to leave. She's grown up here, and the thought of starting over somewhere new... it's daunting for her," she admitted, her voice laced with guilt.

Tikki's understanding gaze softened further, her wisdom shining through her gentle demeanor. "Change can be difficult, Madame Mei, especially when it involves leaving behind the familiar," she acknowledged, her tone reassuring. "But sometimes, it's important to consider what's best for both ourselves and those we care about."

Mei's brows furrowed as she contemplated Tikki's words, her heart heavy with the weight of her decision. "I just want what's best for Lila," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tikki reached out, placing a comforting hand on Mei's shoulder. "I know you do, Madame Mei. And whatever decision you make, know that I'll be here to support you both," she reassured, her presence a steady anchor in Mei's sea of uncertainty.

As Mei and Tikki sat together in the tranquil study, Mei found solace in Tikki's unwavering support, her heart heavy yet hopeful for the future that lay ahead. And amidst the opulent surroundings of the mansion, Mei couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the bond they shared, and the strength it gave her to navigate the challenges that lay ahead.

Their conversation paused as they heard the familiar sound of laughter and chatter drifting through the mansion. Mei's gaze flickered towards the door, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips as she recognized the voices of Marinette and Lila returning from the bachelorette party.

"They're back," Mei remarked softly, her eyes reflecting a mixture of warmth and affection.

Tikki nodded in agreement, her wise gaze filled with anticipation. "Let's go greet them," she suggested, rising from her seat with graceful ease.

Mei followed suit, a sense of excitement bubbling up inside her as she made her way towards the door. Together, she and Tikki stepped out into the grand hallway, where they were greeted by the sight of Marinette and Lila making their way towards them, their laughter echoing through the mansion.

"Welcome back, Marinette, Lila," Mei greeted warmly, her smile radiant as she embraced her niece and daughter.

Marinette returned the embrace with equal warmth, her eyes sparkling with joy. "Thank you, Aunt Mei," she said, her voice filled with affection. "We had such a wonderful time at the party."

Lila's smile was bright as she hugged her mother. "Yes, it was so much fun! Thank you for letting me join, Marinette," she said gratefully, her tone sounding genuine.

Mei's heart swelled with love for her niece and daughter, a sense of contentment washing over her as she held them close. In that moment, surrounded by the warmth and laughter of her family, Mei couldn't help but feel grateful for the bond they shared and the moments they cherished together.

As they stood in the grand hallway of the mansion, Mei, Tikki, Marinette, and Lila shared a moment of quiet happiness, their connection strong and unwavering amidst the beauty and elegance of their surroundings. And as they exchanged smiles and laughter, Mei couldn't help but feel a sense of hope for the future that lay ahead, filled with love, laughter, and the enduring bond of family.

"Aunt Mei, are you feeling alright? Alya told me that you weren't feeling well." Marinette stated.

Mei smiled warmly at Marinette's concern and replied, "Oh, don't worry about me, Marinette. I just decided to take it easy tonight and skip the party."

As the conversation flowed, Marinette couldn't contain her excitement about the beautiful ladybug-themed scrapbook Lila had gifted her at the party. Pulling it out of her bag, she eagerly showed it to Mei and Tikki. "Look what Lila made for me! It's absolutely stunning. She even included Jay's name in it." Marinette's eyes sparkled with gratitude as she flipped through the pages, finding neatly labeled sections for wedding and honeymoon pictures.

Mei's heart warmed at the thoughtful gift, and she smiled at Marinette's excitement. "It's lovely, Marinette. Lila really outdid herself with this one."

Meanwhile, Lila's smile remained fixed, concealing the resentment she felt towards Marinette. Seeing Marinette's joy only fueled her hidden animosity, but she kept up her facade, nodding along with the conversation as if everything were fine. Deep down, however, a storm raged within her, fueled by envy and bitterness.

"By the way Aunt Mei did Jay call you? My cell phone battery died, and I was hoping to hear from him." Mei's gentle shake of the head disappointed her.

Feeling a bit disheartened, Marinette excused herself from the conversation and made her way to the study to call Jay from the landline. A sense of melancholy lingered as each ring went unanswered, leaving Marinette feeling a bit deflated.

As Marinette hung up the phone, her heart sank further, weighed down by a sense of disappointment. Just then, Lila entered the room, her cheerful facade still in place as she asked, "Marinette, any luck contacting Jay?"

Marinette forced a smile, trying to hide her disappointment. "No, Lila, I couldn't reach him. Maybe he's just busy." Despite her attempt to sound optimistic, a hint of sadness tinged her voice, unnoticed by Lila, who simply nodded in understanding before launching into a conversation about other topics.

Just as Marinette was about to reply to Lila, Tikki entered the room with a smile. "Marinette, Jay's waiting for you in the main hall," she announced.

Marinette's face lit up with joy, her previous worries melting away in an instant. Without a moment's hesitation, she rushed out of the room, a wide grin on her face. As she reached the main hall, As Marinette stepped into the main hall, her eyes immediately sought out Jay's familiar figure. There he was, standing tall and handsome, a warm smile lighting up his face as he caught sight of her. Marinette's heart fluttered with excitement as she made her way towards him, her steps quickening with each passing moment.

"Hey, Jay," Marinette greeted breathlessly, her voice filled with warmth as she approached him.

"Hey, Marinette," Jay replied, his smile widening as he opened his arms to welcome her. "I've been waiting for you."

Marinette melted into Jay's embrace, feeling the familiar comfort of his arms around her. As they held each other close, the world seemed to fade away for Marinette, leaving only the two of them in her own little bubble of happiness.

"I missed you," Marinette whispered, her voice soft as she buried her face in Jay's chest. "I know that I saw you earlier at work but in the time since then it felt endless."

"I missed you too," Jay murmured, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of Marinette's head. "Being away from you even for a moment feels like an eternity."

Marinette looked up at Jay, her eyes shining with love. "I feel the same way," she admitted, her heart swelling with emotion. "You mean everything to me, Jay."

Jay's eyes softened as he gazed down at Marinette, his expression filled with adoration. "And you mean everything to me, Marinette," he confessed, his voice filled with sincerity or that's what he wanted her to think. "I never want to spend a moment apart from you."

Marinette reached up to cup Jay's cheek, her touch tender and loving. "You don't have to," she whispered, her voice filled with conviction. "We'll always be together, no matter what."

With those words, Marinette and Jay shared a sweet, tender kiss. Marinette knew that she had found her forever in Jay, and she wouldn't have it any other way.

As Marinette and Jay shared a tender moment in the main hall, Lila watched from a distance, her eyes filled with jealousy and resentment. Hidden behind a pillar, she couldn't help but feel a pang of envy as she witnessed the love between Marinette and Jay. Despite her efforts to conceal her true feelings, the sight of them together stirred a storm of emotions within her, fueling her desire to sabotage their relationship. Though she knew that would ruin the plan she has with Jay. Lila was willing to wait because soon Jay and half of Marinette's money would be all hers.

Later that night Marinette lay in bed, her thoughts drifting back to Jay. She couldn't help but smile as she recalled the warmth of his embrace, the tenderness of his words, and the way his eyes lit up whenever he looked at her.

"Tikki, I can't believe how much I love Jay," Marinette whispered, her voice filled with awe and affection.

Tikki nodded knowingly, her gentle hands arranging the blankets around Marinette with care. "It's eviden Marinette. Your love for Jay is truly remarkable," she replied, her tone soft and understanding.

Marinette sighed happily, feeling a sense of comfort in sharing her feelings with Tikki. "I never imagined I could feel this way about someone. He's my everything," she confessed, her voice filled with emotion.

Tikki smiled warmly, her eyes twinkling with kindness. "Love has a way of surprising us, Marinette. But it's clear that Jay holds a special place in your heart," she said, her words echoing Marinette's own sentiments.

As Marinette drifted off to sleep, her heart filled with love for Jay, she knew that she was blessed to have Tikki by her side, supporting her in every way possible. With Jay and Tikki's unwavering presence in her life, Marinette felt a sense of peace and contentment like never before. And as she surrendered to the embrace of sleep, Marinette whispered a silent thank you to Tikki for her steadfast companionship.

The next day, Marinette decided to surprise Jay after his photo shoot, eager to spend some quality time together. She arrived at the studio with a bright smile, her heart fluttering with anticipation.

As Jay stepped out of the photo shoot set, Marinette's eyes lit up at the sight of him. "Surprise!" she exclaimed, rushing forward to envelop him in a warm hug.

Jay, ever the charmer, played along, his smile seeming genuine as he returned Marinette's embrace. "Marinette, what a wonderful surprise! I'm so glad you're here," he said, his voice filled with affection.

Together, they made their way to Jay's dressing room, Marinette chatting excitedly about her day as Jay listened attentively, his mind already drifting to other plans.

Once inside, Marinette settled onto the couch, her eyes shining with adoration as she gazed at Jay. "I just wanted to spend some time with you," she confessed, her voice soft.

Jay's smile faltered slightly, as he remembered his rendezvous with Lila. But he quickly pushed the thought aside, focusing on Marinette with practiced ease. "I'm so happy you're here, Marinette. You always brighten my day," he said, his words smooth and convincing.

Just then, Jay's phone buzzed with an incoming call, displaying Lila's name on the screen. His heart skipped a beat, panic flooding his senses as he glanced at Marinette, who was oblivious to the caller's identity.

Quickly composing himself, Jay silenced the call, dismissing it as an unknown number. "Sorry about that, must be a wrong number," he said casually, hoping Marinette wouldn't suspect anything.

Marinette nodded, none the wiser, her attention still focused on Jay. "No problem, Jay. So, what do you want to do today?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

As Jay launched into a plan to spend the day together, his mind raced with thoughts of Lila and the delicate balance he was trying to maintain. Deep down, he knew he was playing a dangerous game, but for now, he pushed aside his doubts, determined to keep Marinette in the dark for as long as possible.

As Jay and Marinette were deep in conversation in his dressing room, they suddenly heard a commotion outside. Jay's heart sank as he recognized Lila's voice, filled with anger and frustration.

Panicking, Jay quickly moved to intercept Lila before she burst into the room. "Marinette, wait here for a moment," he said hastily, flashing her an apologetic smile before stepping outside to face Lila.

Lila stood in the hallway, her arms crossed and her expression thunderous. "Jay, how could you stand me up like that? I waited for hours!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with indignation.

Jay's mind raced as he scrambled for an excuse, knowing that Marinette's trust was hanging in the balance. "Lila, I'm so sorry. It was completely my fault," he said earnestly, trying to calm her down.

Just then, Marinette emerged from the dressing room, her curiosity piqued by the conversation. "What's going on?" she asked, her eyes darting between Jay and Lila.

Quickly, Jay and Lila exchanged a knowing glance, silently agreeing on their cover story. "Marinette, I'm so sorry," Jay began, his voice filled with remorse. "I wanted to plan a surprise for you, and I asked Lila for help. But I got caught up in the shoot, and I forgot all about it."

Marinette's eyes widened in understanding, sympathy flooding her features. "Oh, Jay, I had no idea. Don't worry about it," she said reassuringly, giving Jay a comforting pat on the arm. "Why don't you two go get the surprise now? I'll wait for you at home."

Relief washed over Jay as Marinette bought their story without hesitation. "Thank you, Marinette. We'll be there soon," he said gratefully, before turning to Lila with a grateful smile.

With Marinette's blessing, Jay and Lila hurried off to retrieve the 'surprise', their hearts racing with the close call. As they disappeared down the hallway, Marinette couldn't help but smile to herself, grateful for Jay's thoughtfulness and eager to see what surprise awaited her.

Marinette arrived home, her mind still swirling with thoughts of the surprise Jay had planned for her. But amidst the excitement, she knew there were more practical matters to attend to. She had made a decision, one that she felt was important for her future with Jay.

Gathering her resolve, Marinette called her lawyer, Mike Sparks, to arrange a meeting. Mike had been a trusted advisor to Marinette for years, a mentor and father figure who had guided her through both personal and professional matters.

As they sat down together in Marinette's cozy living room, Mike listened carefully as Marinette explained her decision to share all her financial reports and ownership details with Jay in preparation for their marriage.

"Marinette, are you sure about this?" Mike asked, concern evident in his voice. "You know how important it is to protect your assets, especially in such a high-profile relationship."

Marinette nodded, her determination unwavering. "I understand, Mike. But I trust Jay completely, and I want to be transparent with him about everything," she replied, her voice resolute.

Mike sighed, knowing that Marinette was unlikely to be swayed once her mind was made up. "Very well, Marinette. If this is what you truly want, I will arrange for the reports to be prepared for Jay," he conceded, his expression gentle yet cautious.

Grateful for Mike's understanding, Marinette smiled appreciatively. "Thank you, Mike. I know this might not be the conventional choice, but I believe it's the right one for me," she said, her eyes shining with determination.

With a nod of acceptance, Mike assured Marinette that he would handle the matter with discretion and care. As they concluded their meeting, Marinette felt a sense of relief knowing that she had taken a step towards building a future based on trust and openness with Jay. And with Mike's support, she felt confident that she was making the right decision for herself and her relationship.

Later that evening, Marinette found herself sitting in the garden of her family's estate, sipping tea with her beloved aunt Mei. The evening breeze gently rustled the leaves of the surrounding trees, creating a peaceful atmosphere.

"Aunt Mei, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about," Marinette began, her voice tinged with a hint of hesitation.

Mei looked at her niece with a gentle smile, sensing the seriousness in her tone. "Of course, Marinette. You know you can always confide in me. What's on your mind?"

Marinette took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts before continuing. "It's about the mansion in LA that I inherited from my parents. I've been avoiding the topic because... because it brings back painful memories."

Mei reached out and gently squeezed Marinette's hand in a gesture of comfort. "I understand, my dear. Your parents' passing was a tragedy, and it's natural for certain places to evoke difficult emotions."

Marinette nodded, grateful for her aunt's understanding. "Exactly. That mansion holds so many memories, both happy and painful. I've been hesitant to even visit it, let alone consider renting it out."

Mei listened attentively, her expression filled with empathy. "It's okay to take your time, Marinette. Healing is a process, and you must prioritize your emotional well-being above all else."

Marinette sighed, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders as she shared her feelings with her aunt. "Thank you, Aunt Mei. I needed to hear that. I think I'll wait until I feel ready before making any decisions about the mansion."

Mei smiled warmly at Marinette, her eyes reflecting pride and love. "You're stronger than you realize, Marinette. And you have a family that supports you every step of the way."

With a renewed sense of clarity and determination, Marinette hugged her aunt tightly, feeling grateful for her unwavering love and support. As they sat in the tranquil garden, surrounded by the beauty of nature, Marinette knew that she could face any challenge with Aunt Mei by her side.

The next day Mike Sparks arrived at Jay's apartment, his mind buzzing with apprehension. He had known Jay for a while, but there had always been something about him that made Mike uneasy. As Jay opened the door, his slick smile did little to dispel Mike's unease.

"Ah, Mike, come on in," Jay greeted, gesturing for him to enter. "What brings you here today?"

Mike maintained his professional demeanor as he stepped inside, his gaze steady. "I'm here on behalf of Marinette," he began, his tone businesslike. "She's asked me to provide you with her financial reports and ownership details in preparation for your marriage." Mike hands Jay all the documents.

Jay's eyes gleamed with interest as he looked through them, and Mike couldn't shake the feeling that Jay's motives were less than genuine. As they sat down, Jay's questions seemed to focus more on Marinette's assets than on their relationship.

"Mike, you know how it is," Jay remarked casually. "Marriage is a partnership, and it's important to be transparent about finances. Especially since we plan to marry under community property."

Mike's suspicions grew with each passing moment, but he maintained his composure. "Of course, Jay," he replied evenly. "But I must emphasize the importance of trust and respect in any relationship."

Jay's smile faltered slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. "Of course, Mike," he said smoothly. "I appreciate your concern, but I assure you, I have Marinette's best interests at heart."

Mike nodded, though he remained unconvinced. As he prepared to leave, he couldn't shake the feeling that Jay's intentions were far from honorable. But before he could make his exit, a thought struck him.

"Jay, there's one more thing," Mike said, his voice tinged with gravity. "In Marinette's parents' will, there's a clause stipulating that if she marries under community property, she stands to lose her inheritance."

Jay's expression shifted from smug confidence to genuine shock, though he quickly masked it with a dismissive shrug. "Well, that doesn't matter to me," he replied nonchalantly. "I'm marrying Marinette for love, not money."

Mike regarded Jay with a skeptical eye, his doubts deepening. "Of course, Jay," he said, though his tone held a hint of skepticism. "Good day."

As Mike left Jay's apartment, he couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. Though Jay's words were reassuring, his actions spoke volumes. And as he made his way back to his office, Mike couldn't help but worry about her future with a man whose motives seemed more financial than romantic.

Marinette sat in her cozy living room, surrounded by stacks of wedding magazines and a checklist of last-minute preparations spread out before her. Alya sat beside her, offering words of encouragement and support.

"Okay, Marinette, you've got this," Alya said, her voice brimming with enthusiasm. "Everything's going to be perfect."

Marinette smiled gratefully at her friend, her nerves beginning to settle. "Thanks, Alya," she replied, taking a deep breath. "I couldn't do this without you."

Before their conversation could continue, Tikki hurried into the room in a flurry of red and black.

"Marinette, quick! Jay's surprise is outside!" Tikki exclaimed, her voice urgent.

Marinette's eyes widened in excitement, her heart racing at the thought of what Jay could have planned. Without hesitation, she leaped to her feet, Alya following close behind.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go see!" Alya exclaimed, her own excitement mirroring Marinette's.

The two girls dashed outside, their laughter ringing through the air as they raced towards the surprise awaiting them. As they reached the front of Marinette's mansion, they came to a sudden stop, their jaws dropping in awe.

There, parked on the curb, gleaming in the sunlight, was a brand new car, its sleek lines and polished exterior sparkling with promise.

"Oh my gosh, Marinette, is that...?" Alya trailed off, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Marinette nodded, her heart overflowing with gratitude and love for Jay. "It's a car," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "He got me a car."

Alya squealed in delight, throwing her arms around Marinette in a tight hug. "Girl, you are one lucky bride-to-be!" she exclaimed, her excitement contagious.

As Marinette basked in the glow of Jay's surprise, she couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation for their future together. With Jay's love to guide her, she knew that nothing could stand in the way of their happily ever after.

As Marinette and Alya stood in awe of the car, Lila emerged from the house, her eyes widening at the sight before her.

"What's all the commotion about?" Lila asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Marinette turned to Lila, her expression overjoyed. "Oh, Lila, don't act dumb. You helped Jay with this surprise," she said while giving her a quick hug.

Lila's smile faltered for a moment before she quickly recovered, playing along with the lie. "Oh, right! Of course, I did," she replied, her voice sounding overly enthusiastic.

Marinette broke the hug with enthusiasm. "And who picked the color?" she asked,

Lila hesitated for just a moment, her eyes darting away briefly before she replied, "Jay did, of course."

She turned her attention back to the car, her mind already racing with plans for her upcoming wedding.

As Marinette and Alya admired the car, Lila's smile masked the simmering resentment she harbored towards her cousin. Lila seethed with envy, her jealousy fueled by a deep-seated desire for what Marinette had.

As Marinette and Alya continued to celebrate, Lila's mind raced with thoughts of betrayal and revenge. She relished the thought of tearing down Marinette's happiness, of claiming what she believed was rightfully hers.

But for now, Lila maintained her facade, her smile never faltering as she played the role of the supportive cousin. And as she watched Marinette's joy, a wicked satisfaction filled her heart, knowing that she held the power to destroy everything Marinette held dear.

Marinette, oblivious to Lila's true intentions, basked in the excitement of the moment, her heart overflowing with gratitude for Jay's gesture. Little did she know, the very person she trusted most was plotting to shatter her world.

Marinette ran inside the house and called Jay to thank him. As Marinette poured her heart out to Jay over the phone, little did she know that his intentions weren't as pure as they seemed. Behind his charming facade lay a calculating mind, driven by greed and deceit.

While Marinette showered him with gratitude, Jay's thoughts were consumed by a different kind of appreciation – for Marinette's wealth and status. He saw her as nothing more than a means to an end, a golden ticket to a life of luxury and privilege.

As Jay listened to Marinette's words of love and gratitude, he couldn't help but smirk to himself, knowing that soon he would have everything he ever desired – her money, her mansion, her connections. And when he was done with her, he would discard her like yesterday's news.

But for now, Jay played the part of the doting fiancé, his words dripping with sweetness and affection. He knew that as long as Marinette remained oblivious to his true intentions, his plan would continue to unfold without a hitch.

As Marinette hung up the phone, her heart overflowing with love for Jay, she had no idea that the man she trusted with her deepest secrets was nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing, waiting to strike when the time was right.

Lila stood on Jay's doorstep, her frustration simmering beneath the surface, she couldn't help but feel a pang of anger at his neglect. All day she had tried to reach him, her calls going unanswered, her messages left unread. And now her emotions threatened to spill over.

Jay swung the door open, his expression distant and aloof. Lila's anger flared at his dismissive attitude, her frustration reaching its boiling point.

"What's going on, Jay?" she demanded, her voice sharp with anger. "You've been ignoring me all day."

Jay's expression remained impassive, his gaze cold and distant. "I told you, I've been busy," he replied curtly, his tone harsh and dismissive.

Lila's anger flared at his callousness, her frustration boiling over. "Busy doing what? Avoiding me?" she shot back, her voice laced with sarcasm.

Jay's jaw clenched at her words, his patience wearing thin. "I don't owe you an explanation," he retorted, his voice dripping with disdain.

Lila's heart sank at his harsh words, the reality of his indifference hitting her like a punch to the gut. She had given everything for him, sacrificed her own happiness for a love that had never truly existed. And now, faced with his cruelty, she felt a sense of betrayal unlike anything she had ever known.

Jay took a deep breath in frustration. "I've been dealing with some... complications."

Lila rolled her eyes. "Complications? What kind of complications?"

Jay hesitated for a moment before sighing heavily. "It's Marinette," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I can't marry her under community property."

Lila's heart sank at his words, a mixture of disbelief and betrayal coursing through her veins. "What do you mean, you can't marry her under community property?" she asked, her voice trembling with emotion.

Jay took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he was about to say. "There's a clause in her parents' will," he explained, his words heavy with resignation. "If she marries me under community property, she loses her inheritance. Therefore I decided to stay married to her to enjoy her money."

Lila's mind reeled at his revelation, the pieces of the puzzle clicking into place with a sickening clarity. She had been nothing more than a pawn in Jay's twisted game, a means to an end in his quest for wealth and power.

"And what about us?" she whispered, her voice barely audible over the sound of her own heart breaking.

Jay's gaze flickered with annoyance at her question, his irritation palpable. "There is no 'us,' Lila," he said coldly. "I told you, I'm staying with Marinette. That's all there is to it."

With those final words, Jay slammed the door in Lila's face, leaving her standing alone on the doorstep, her heart shattered into a million pieces. She had been a fool to believe in his lies, to trust in his false promises of love.

With tears streaming down her cheeks, Lila turned away from Jay's door, her spirit broken and her resolve hardened. She may have been betrayed, but she refused to let Jay's cruelty destroy her completely. And as she walked away, a fire ignited within her, fueled by the pain of his rejection. She would find a way to make him pay for his deceit, no matter the cost.
