Chapter 12
Hearing a student's death over the PA speaker in the school building remains silent at a much longer time than anticipated. Even though the girls are new at this place, each one feels a different way of such sorrow around them. Moroha in her classroom feels something off, a certain item that she can't tell what it is exactly. Towa is somehow feeling dread since the student was in her class period. Setsuna, however cannot really feel any empathy or sympathy for the place.
Moroha found that out the hard way. One day they found a pet getting hit by a car a few years ago. Moroha was upset while Towa tries to calm her down. But Setsuna just walks away. Moroha turns towards her way, asking her why she would walk away from the scene. Setsuna nonchalantly answered that it's none of their business. It didn't end pretty when they began fighting, even Towa tried her best to intervene, but both moms have to do the task. Kagome had to take Moroha inside while Rin had to scold Sestuna for her attitude and behavior
According to Towa, even though she and Setsuna are twins, they respond differently. It turns out the Sestuna inherited Sesshomaru's stoic demeanor. So it was natural for Setsuna to behave like that.
After the first period of class, the school continues to be silent. Not a single person would speak, until the PA chimes, "Due to the unfortunate death of Gin Fumimoto, I have considered to end the school day so everyone could go home." The headmistress said through the speaker. Usually hearing that announcement would cheer in excitement, but not this one. The bell rings to dismiss the students. The girls meet up at the roof that they had their lunch the other day.
"Something isn't right about this." Moroha said as she has her arms crossed. Towa and Setsuna nods. "Indeed. Why would a student's death dismiss the school?" Setsuna asks her own set of questions.
"Not only that, but why didn't the students say a word about it. Even the dismissal was abnormal." Towa adds her concern.
"I guess there's more than just a student's death. I think that someone is making this up." Moroha said with a deep thought look. "We need more information about the death."
"We cannot enter school grounds to look through the system to find his house." Setsuna points out. Towa narrows her eyes. "So far this is just bizarre. We were in the middle of doing the regular school duties while trying to figure out the mastermind of the cases that Grandpa Toga told us about."
"Should we tell our parents and explain to them why we were dismissed so early today?" Moroha asks as she pulls of her iphone. The twins nod. Moroha dials her father's name on the screen to call.
"Hey Moroha, aren't you supposed to be in class?" Inuyasha asks as he answers the call.
"Dad, there was a death at the school this morning, so they just dismissed us." Moroha explains to him.
"You or the twins aren't hurt?" Inuyasha in his fatherly tone. "No we're ok, dad. But I think that someone in the school is the one who might have killed the kid."
"Ok, you and the twins head back home. I'll meet you there." Inuyasha said to his daughter before hanging up.
"Dad wants us to be at my house so we can go through this." Moroha said as she puts her iphone away into her backpack pocket. She leaps off the school roof with the twins and head back to her house.
Back in the vehicle that Inuyasha and Kagome hide in to make sure that Moroha is doing ok. "We're going back home." He said to her.
"Why?" Kagome asks him as he gets to the driver seat while she gets into the passenger seat. "There was a death in the school." Inuyasha answers her. Kagome gasps. "Moroha and the twins are OK, right?"
"Don't worry, they're fine. They're on their way back home. We might as well tell Sesshomaru about this as well." Inuyasha groans in the end.
The girls enter Moroha's house through the backdoor. It doesn't take long for the parents of both families to arrive in the driveway.
"Towa, Setsuna." Rin comes out of the car and hugs her daughters. Kagome does the same thing with Moroha. "We're ok. There's no need for tears." Moroha said to her mother while returning the hug.
"Inuyasha told me about what happened. I would never expect a student's death to dismiss the entire school." Sesshomaru said as they take their respective seats in the dining room.
Back at the school, shortly after the students left, the faculty gather at the Auditorium. Headmistress Yuki Yahamito gets to the podium on the stage. "I would like to thank you for dismissing the students, for Gin's death shouldn't be on their minds at the moment." The faculty remain seated in their seats. "As such, the boy's family has informed me about this morning."
"But why would we dismiss the students?" One member asks her.
"Like I said, the students shouldn't go through such a thing. Even if they have to learn the stages of grief, it'd be too much for them to bare." Yuki explains to the one who asked.
"I will resume our sessions tomorrow. You should schedule your lessons for the following day. We'll make a memorial for Gin. It's the least we should do." Yuki suggests as she leaves the room. Little did anyone know is that a hidden camera catching the act.
The dining room has a few gadgets and ipads on their stands scattered around the table. "So the headmistress was the one who decide to dismiss the students." Inuyasha said to the group. "But we still don't know how the student died in the first place?" Moroha said to him.
Towa types down the student's name. "Gin Fumimoto, a 10th grader, intelligent, athletic and brave. Has been discovered in the gymnasium's storage room early this morning. According to the teacher who opened the door was shocked to discover the body." She reads the article.
Moroha writes down the location of the body. "The Gym's storage room. Ok so far we have the spot of the body. How did Gin died?"
Towa looks through the article. "Unknown at the moment."
"But how was it that Gin was inside of the storage room? That door has a lock system on it. It has to be someone in the school who knows how to use it." Sestuna said as she does her part to look through the school's map.
"So far the lockers requires our fingerprint to open the doors. I take it that the only ones who are allowed to open that door was the gym teacher." Towa speaks as she tries to go through the boy's history. Then she has an idea. "Do you think that there's a file of him from the guidance counselor?"
The other two girls look at her. "That might help, but the thing is that the counselor writes the files on paper, not on the computer. So we would have to go there to find it without being spotted." Moroha said to Towa in hope.
"Not yet." Inuyasha said to them. The trio look to him. "So far, the news is fresh and there's chaos. It's too soon. We need to know the autopsy of the boy's death. Until then, just act natural so no one would get suspicious about your task. Try to find clues, hints, leads to see if anyone has a grudge or something against him."
Kagome nods. "He's right, girls. If you go through this blindly, you'll have a mislead. We cannot afford that risk."
"But…" Towa tries to reason.
"Not one of you are to continue on this mission until it's certain that it's safe enough." Sesshomaru spoke in his usual stoic tone. He knows for sure that if he talks like that, everyone obeys him without a doubt.
"Yes father." Towa as well as Setsuna said to him simultaneously.
Even with his presence so close to him, Inuyasha knows for a fact that he also has to obey his brother's orders, even if it isn't directly for him.
Soon after the little meeting, the twins head back to their home with their parents. Moroha knows for sure that this day has really gotten her on the edge. After a short lunch, she heads down to the basement to do her warm ups.
After a few stretches, Moroha did her usual moves to keep her mind occupied instead of the morning events. 'There's got to be some way.' She growls as she did her scratching techniques. Attack after attack, kick after kick, none of them are even enough to get the frustration out of her system. "AHH!" She just shouts.
Kagome is in the living room reading the paper until she finds the article that happened at Sakura Hills. She is about to go to Inuyasha who is working from home since the mission is on hold. That is until she hears Moroha scream.
"Inuyasha, I just heard Moroha shout from downstairs in the basement." Kagome walks to him. "She's just having her fits. Let her be for a while." Inuyasha said without looking from his laptop. Kagome however isn't convinced. "That shout isn't like the other ones. I think she needs some…" She is about to turn towards the basement door until Inuyasha takes her wrist.
"Kagome, I think that what happened at the school is affecting her that none of us can tell. Let her take her frustrations out a bit further. I'll keep a close eye on her through the camera down there." Inuyasha assures her.
Kagome nods, even though she wants to do the mother's duty of helping her daughter. But for this one, isn't meant for that.
