Chapter 17
Sesshomaru is too focused on his business, looking through documents of various merges and deals. Soon enough the phone chimed to get him out of his infinite mind of business ideas. He glances at the screen, showing it's an email from his brother.
'Hn. Might as well see what Inuyasha found out.' He said to himself in his head. He clicks the icon on his computer to read the email
Sesshomaru I've just received this email from the laboratory about the sample that Moroha was able to get her hands on. Here's what the lab discovered.
For it may look like cherries blossoms. But that's not it. This is from a demon tree called a Neru Memori. Not much has been known since its existence. From what we found from the plant is that it releases a substance that will make anyone who inhales its scent too much to have amnesia, loss of consciousness and other nerve reactors. I would advise that you let your brother know about this as well as soon as possible. I'm just curious about where this plant was from.
Sincerely
Dr. Ukimori
Sesshomaru may have been living for a very long time but even he would've known a demon tree or two. The only one he knows is the one that created the sheaths for the Tenseiga and Tetsusaiga. But otherwise, he hasn't come across another demon tree.
"It would appear that this tree is the mastermind. But I'm not completely sure about this." He as he heads out of his office and up to Towa's bedroom. He can see that the door is open and is able to see Towa awake. He knocks on the door to get their attention.
"Oh, hello, Father." Setsuna said to him. Towa hands the sword back to him. "Did the Tenseiga locate the victim?" He asks her. Towa nods. "Yes. It brought him here." She said as she gestures to show her father the half bull demon. "Gin Fugimoto, this is my father, Sesshomaru Takahashi."
Gin immediately bows very low. "It's an honor to meet one of the greatest demons." He gloats to him.
"Has anything else happened after reviving him?" Sesshomaru turns to the twins, hoping one of them would give him an answer.
Both shook their heads. "No. So far he has told us how he died, he doesn't know who killed him." Setsuna said to him. "We can't have him go to school with us. It might create chaos." She adds.
Sesshomaru looks to see the boy is still bowing. "Raise your head, Gin." He demands stoically.
Gin does obey the order. "For you to be brought back to life, I would need you to help my daughters on their mission. Instead of being at the school, you'll stay here until everything clear. Is that understood."
Gin nods. "Understood Lord Sesshomaru." Sesshomaru turns around, "Towa, take Gin to one of the guest rooms." He tells her without looking at her.
"Oh of course." Towa responds and takes the boy to one of the guest bedrooms in the manor.
"We kind of told Gin about it before you arrived, father." Sestuna informs him.
Sesshomaru nods and leaves the younger twin alone.
After dinner, Moroha is about to take the dishes and put them into the dishwasher. "Honey, why don't you get yourself cleaned up. I got this." Kagome urges her daughter to leave the kitchen.
"Oh ok." She walks upstairs to her bathroom to wash up.
Inuyasha knows one thing, if Kagome wants to do Moroha's chore, there's hell. "I'll do that." He offers. But Kagome gives him a look. "I would like to talk about something." She said to him as she gathers the pots and pans and soak them in the large farmer's sink.
"About what?" Inuyasha as he tries his best to help, but Kagome's look just freezes him on the spot.
"About having Moroha paying you back for a plant the you bought at the nursery." Kagome said as she starts the dishwasher.
Inuyasha tries his best to be the bigger man. "She left the house without telling us. She broke one of the rules." He points.
Kagome crosses her arms. "I'm aware of that, She's fourteen Inuyasha. She's not a little kid anymore." She said in her motherly tone.
"I don't care. There's no telling what could have happen to her is she wasn't careful." Inuyasha tries to defuse the situation in a calming manner.
"You're just being overprotective. I get that, but you just take it too far and too seriously." Kagome narrows her eyes.
"I just told her that she owed me. I didn't mean money." Inuyasha tries to defend the tension. Kagome keeps her sight on him "And what would it be that Moroha repays you with?"
"I want her to get the top grade of her science project." He admits casually.
Kagome groans as she rubs her eyes. "Honestly, Inuyasha. This again. Why can't you just forget about the stupid debt you put her into."
"Then what is she ever going to learn about her mistakes? She needs to think these things through." He snaps at her quietly. If there's one thing he doesn't want to do is make a scene that would reach Moroha's ears.
"You are going upstairs and apology to her. And I don't want to hear another word about this." Kagome said to him in a warning tone, as well as pointing to the stairs, and that's one thing Inuyasha cannot escape from. A wife's wrath.
"Of course." He surrenders.
Moroha is in her bedroom after taking a really long shower. Her hair is in a fluffy red towel with her deep red robe on. She's in the middle of her homework other than the science project. Currently she's on her algebra homework.
"You can come in, Dad." She said without turning her head. The door opens to let Inuyasha enter the room quietly. "Hey." He only said to her.
"What is it that I have to owe you? My allowance?" Moroha asks, keeping her focus on the subject.
Inuyasha sits on the edge of the girl's bed. He can smell how upset she is about earlier that day. "Look, why don't we just forget the owing thing. I'm just worried that something happened to you when you left the house. My instincts got the better of me to get you at the greenhouse."
Moroha doesn't seem convinced about the whole explanation. Inuyasha is about to stand until he picks up Kagome's scent of not doing what he is told. "What I'm trying to say is that I'm sorry. I shouldn't have acted that way at the greenhouse."
That made Moroha quite curious. "What brought this up? I know for certain that you didn't really want to be up here."
Inuyasha sighs, "You told your mother about what happened, didn't you?" Moroha nods. "I know for sure that if I told mom about what happened, she'd make you come up to me and apologize. I know how she can be when she's upset about something that I'm in."
"Look, Moroha. The next time you want to go somewhere, you have to let us know. We can't be with you if you sneak off."
Moroha nods. "And I'm sorry I didn't tell you where I was going. How was it that you were about to tell?" She asks him.
Inuyasha smirks. "You know about the security system of this house." Moroha nods. "There's a perimeter that sends a silent alarm to my phone. If you would pass it, I'd get the alert."
"Ok." She hugs him. He immediately returns the hug. "Now, which subject on you working on?" He asks over her shoulder to see what's on her desk.
"Algebra."
Inuyasha snickers. "Ah man, you managed to pull it easily. Your mother on the other hand, isn't that great, but she managed to pass."
"I managed what exactly, Inuyasha?" Kagome crossed her arms with a suspicious look.
"That you…" Moroha was about to repeat what Inuyasha said, but he covers her mouth. "Never mind what she said." He laughs nervously.
"I'm just messing with you." Kagome snickers at the scene. "Don't worry, she already knows about my times at school with algebra. But it's actually geometry that I suck at."
