A/N: Nick goes missing and Lorelei is in the hospital. Sean and the gang come together to find Nick.
Welcome to the start of season 3. The next couple of chapters will be in Sean's POV since Lorelei will be out of action for a little bit. I may include other POVs, we'll wait and see.
After meeting with his brother, Sean waited in his car outside the hotel. He didn't believe a word his brother had told him. About being welcomed back into the family, the insinuation that he would be able to keep Lorelei with him. His brother didn't seem to be aware that Nick knew his secret, so Adalind must have kept her mouth shut about that. His brother was up to something, and Sean was going to find out what it was.
He followed his brother's car from the hotel to a nearby container yard. Keeping a distance, Sean watched as his brother met with Baron Samedi briefly before leaving separately, the Baron loading a coffin into a truck. Sean did not have a good feeling about it. Of course, his brother was responsible for the cracher-mortel causing trouble in town. But for what reason? Sean found himself distracted when attacked by victims of the cracher-mortel. It wasn't until he woged that he was able to fight them off successfully, leaving them unconscious on the ground. As he was checking out the shipping container his brother had been in, he heard a phone ringing that was not his own. Looking around, he spotted a phone on the ground. Picking it up, he saw the caller was Hank, and after answering it realised it had been Nick's phone. Nick and his friends were at the yard, and Nick seemed to be missing. Sean's heart sank as he realised who had been in the coffin. His brother no doubt had the cracher-mortel attack Nick and was planning on fleeing the country with him. If he had Nick, did that mean he would also go after Lorelei? Or did he have her already? Hank hadn't mentioned Lorelei being present. Where was she?
It seemed the victims of the cracher-moretel he had encountered were not the only ones at the yard. As Sean drove to the centre of the yard, he saw his officers and a large group of victims being rounded up by them. Sean pulled up and directed Nick's friends to get in, before heading to the airport.
"Where's Lorelei?" He asked, as he navigated his way out of the yard.
"She's back at the spice shop." Rosalee answered from the backseat.
Sean nodded, hoping she was still there. Surely his brother didn't know about the shop. He prayed he was correct, and his soulmate was safe and sound, waiting for the group to return.
"I saw them carry a box and load it into a van." Sean explained to them after leaving the yard.
"What kind of box was it?" Rosalee asked.
Sean glanced at her in the rearview mirror. "It, uh, looked like a coffin." He replied. "My guess is that put Nick into this death state, just like the others."
"Oh my god." He heard Juliette say from the back.
"My guess is with the right paperwork, which they have, they could transport him out of the country, legally." Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Hank on the phone.
"So, does this mean the Baron is working for your brother?" Monroe asked, also in the backseat.
"Yeah." Sean answered, glancing in the rearview mirror. "All this madness was just a side journey to distract us from what they were really after."
"Nick." Juliette said quietly. "And Lorelei."
There was moment of silence before Rosalee spoke up. "You know, I'm not sure that Nick or Lorelei would react the same way that the others did."
"Because they're Grimms." Monroe said.
"They're not exactly normal." Rosalee told him.
"Will someone call Lorelei, make sure she is alright." Sean asked, as they approached the airport.
"On it." Rosalee said.
There was no answer from Lorelei, which was concerning. Rosalee tried to alleviate their concerns by suggesting Lorelei could be sleeping. It had been a long day, after all. Sean hoped she was right.
"I've got airport police." Hank told them before returning to the phone conversation. "This is Detective Griffin Portland police; we are in pursuit of a suspect driving a black van heading for a private jet on your field. Approach with caution. We need the van detained and the plane prevented from taking off."
They pulled up on the runway not long after, to find airport police there, two bodies on the ground and the plane gone.
"No, no, no!" Juliette cried as they watched the plane take off. Sean felt a sense of despair, praying that Lorelei was not on that plane. That she was safe and sound at the spice shop.
Sean turned away to head back to his car. Juliette grabbed his arm. "You have to do something; you have to stop that plane." She told him.
"There's nothing we can do, in a matter of minutes that plane will be over international waters, and we can't touch them." Sean told them.
"Can't they scramble jets or something?" Rosalee asked.
"They won't do that unless there's a terrorist threat." Hank told her.
"Well, where are they taking him?"
"Somewhere where my brother can control him. My guess is Austria."
Sean's head snapped to the side as Juliette slapped him. "Your family's responsible for this. I swear to God you better get him back."
"I'll do everything in my power to keep Nick away from my family, but I can't stop that plane." He told her, as Hank's phone rang. "And don't forget, my pregnant soulmate could be on that plane as well."
The others hadn't seemed to consider that possibility, obviously still believing Lorelei was back at the spice shop.
Hank finished his call. It had been Sergeant Wu, advising that they had contained all the victims of cracher-mortel at the container yard, however they weren't sure what to do with. Hank advised he would be sending someone down. He turned to Rosalee. "That stuff you made works right?"
"Yeah."
"You're going to have to make a whole lot more of it."
"What about Nick?" Juliette cried out.
"Look, they had to file a flight plan. I can check with the FAA. Once we know where they are going, maybe we can intercept."
"I'm sorry, but what about them?" Monroe asked, referring to unconscious airport officers.
"It's too early to treat them. We're going to have to take them with us." Rosalee replied.
The group headed back to the spice shop. Sean was desperate to see if Lorelei was there. He wasn't a religious man, but he was praying that she was, none the wiser to what had happened.
"Oh my god." Rosalee said as she entered the shop.
The sight that met them was bloody. The shop was trashed and there were the bodies of two men laying on the floor. "Oh my god, Lorelei." Juliette said, rushing into the side room where Lorelei was laying on the floor beside a loveseat.
Sean rushed to his soulmate side, ready to sweep her up in his arms but Juliette stopped him. "We don't know what kind of injuries she has."
"Is she alive?" He asked, as Juliette checked her pulse and Lorelei's body for injuries.
"She is. And she doesn't appear to have any visible injuries."
"What the hell happened here?" Monroe asked, surveying the damage.
"My brother." Sean growled, taking Lorelei's small hand in his own larger one.
"Cap." Sean looked over at Hank, who held up a white cloth. "Smells like chloroform. She must have taken out her attackers before succumbing to the effects. This guy has a broken neck. And this one…" He pointed to the second man. "I'm not sure what she used, but it looks like a stab wound to the neck. Must have hit the carotid artery."
Sean glanced down at his soulmate. Only she would be able to kill two men while succumbing to the effects of chloroform. "We should get her to a hospital. Chloroform came have some nasty side effects, not to mention what it could do to a growing foetus." Rosalee said, having moved to Lorelei's side as well.
"We can't exactly call an ambulance, you know, on account of the dead bodies." Monroe commented.
"Is she safe to be moved?" Sean asked Rosalee and Juliette.
Rosalee nodded. "I don't think those guys got any hits in. She should be right."
"I'll take her to the hospital. You focus on the antidote, and we'll worry about the bodies later." Sean said, scooping Lorelei up in his arms. "Hank, get in contact with the FAA and find out where that plane is headed".
A couple of hours later, a doctor approached Sean letting him know that Lorelei and their baby were ok with no apparent lasting effect from the chloroform. However, they did want to keep her in overnight for observations, especially since her blood pressure was quite high. He let him know that Lorelei was starting to wake up albeit was a little groggy, and that Sean could see her but not for long.
Sean entered the room, sitting down in the chair beside Lorelei's bed and took her hand. Lorelei stirred, her blue eyes flickering open and landing on Sean. A smile crept across her face. "Hi." She said, a voice a little croaky.
"Hi." He said, brushing a strand of hair off her face and tucking it behind her ear. "How are you feeling?"
"Mmm, tired. Heads all fuzzy."
Sean smiled softly. "That's to be expected." He told her.
She shifted slightly. "Nick…Monroe…everyone?"
Sean assumed she wanted an update on how her friends had gone at the container yard. He couldn't tell her the truth. Not yet, not while she was so fragile. She needed to focus on herself and their baby at the moment. "They are back at the spice shop, making more of the antidote. There were more victims that they initially thought." Lorelei nodded slowly; her eyes drifting shut again. Sean pressed a kiss to her hand. "I'll be back later."
"Ok."
As Sean left the room, he spoke briefly to the two officers he had called in to keep watch, in case his brother tried again. Once he was sure his soulmate was safe, he headed out, determined to track down Nick Burkhardt and deal with his brother. For good.
A/N: And there's the first chapter of Season 3. What did you think? I am also still taking suggestions for Sean and Lorelei's baby girl, so pop your suggestions in the comments. I am leaning towards a variation of Marie as the middle name, possibly Marielle but nothing is set in stone.
