Chapter 7- Fist of Fury

Danny and Colleen continued to stare at the portal, which had just materialized. It was quite small right now, and did not look like it could accommodate even one person, never mind an entire army of The Hand.

"It looks very small", Colleen noted. "How will they even get through it? Doesn't even look big enough for one guy, never mind an entire army.

"The Iron Fist was needed to unlock the door", Danny explained to her. "Now, it shall open up on its own."

Colleen's eyes widened as the implications of what Danny had told her started sinking in. "You mean….it will get bigger?"

"Much bigger", Danny said with a sigh and groan. "And there is nothing we can do to stop it as of now." He scoffed. "Some Iron Fist I am, opening up the way for those people."

"Its not your fault, you didn't know", Colleen assured Danny, but he shook his head.

"I should have known!" Danny said angrily. "The constellation symbols that I used to get to that house, and then the tablet I used to get here, its almost too convenient that I managed to find the places and a tablet which all led me here."

"You think they tricked you into getting here?" Colleen inquired.

"Maybe, maybe not, but I definitely fell into a trap."

"Don't think they wanted you take that medallion though."

"Maybe they thought they could protect it and lead me to the tablet to divert my attention to here", Danny realized, a little glad that at least part of their plan had failed too.

But none of that really mattered considering this portal was open now, and even if none could get through now, when it got big enough, they would get through it.

"What do we do now?" Colleen asked, Danny continuing to stare at the small but corporeal rip in between dimensions.

"Well, we can't stop The Hand or this portal right now, but its impossible for us to get through to warn K'un-Lun considering how things stand right now", Danny told her, then turned around. "Best bet for now is to leave and think on what to do next."

Colleen looked at the portal one more time, then turned around as well, both of them walking out of the room and then the building, knowing there was nothing that could be done about the portal or The Hand as of now.

Iron Fist intro plays and is shown, displaying a shadowed figure doing martial arts with a dark-greenish background, and it ends with the title screen.

Chikara Dojo

Claire looked up as the door opened, Danny and Colleen walking in, the latter closing the door. Claire was relieved to see that they weren't wounded all that badly, but their faces made it clear that they definitely had bad news with them.

"How bad is it?" Claire inquired.

"Really bad, but can be worse", Danny said to her. "They tricked me into using my Iron Fist to hit a machine and it activated a portal to K'un-Lun for them to get through."

Claire's eyes widened. "How can it be any worse than this then?"

"The portal is very small, too small for even a single person to go through, it will take a while for it to get big enough for an entire army to pass through, a few weeks pretty much", Danny told Claire at that point, and she sighed in relief.

"Well, you were right, it could be worse", she noted, Danny shrugging and walking ahead.

"Yeah, but I got tricked", Danny noted, gritting his teeth and clutching his fists before unclutching them. "I should have seen it coming!"

"Its all right, Danny", Colleen sighed, deciding it was time to confess now, especially since she'd made the right choice now and broken away from The Hand and Bakuto at long last. "You're not the only one who has made mistakes."

That made Danny look at her with a puzzled expression. "What do you mean by that? I was the one who was tricked, you did nothing wrong, you even went with me to help me out."

Colleen sat down, her back straight, hands clasped tightly together. She took a deep breath, steadying herself, and when she finally spoke, her voice came out low and unsteady.

"Danny, there's something you need to know... about me. About my past. I... I was with The Hand."

Danny froze, his eyes widening as he turned sharply to face her. For a moment, the room fell deathly silent, as if even the city outside had paused to listen. Claire's eyes widened, her fingers twitching against the countertop. Colleen forced herself to meet Danny's gaze, though her voice trembled as she continued.

"Bakuto... he trained me. Raised me, even. I didn't know—at least, I thought I didn't—what they really were. Not until I heard what they did at the hospital, what they did to those kids, to your friend, Claire." Her voice hitched, and she swallowed hard, fighting back the lump in her throat, Claire just staring at her. "I broke away from them today. I swear I did. But... I didn't know how to tell you before. I was afraid of what you'd think, of how you'd react."

Danny's face twisted with a mixture of anger and disbelief. He stepped forward, his fists clenched at his sides, and the heat of his frustration radiated off him in waves. His words came out sharp, cutting through the tension.

"You were with them? With the Hand? All this time, you knew what they were capable of, what they did, and you let me think you were on my side?! Colleen, they've killed people! Good people, innocent people!"

Colleen winced, the guilt pooling in her chest like a lead weight. She stayed seated, forcing herself to maintain her composure, but her voice grew more desperate. "I didn't know who to trust, Danny! When I met you, I thought you were... misguided. I thought maybe you were the one who was wrong about them, that The Hand was... something else. I was torn, and by the time I realized who they really were, it was too late, and we fell into their trap. I wanted to tell you, I did, but... I was afraid."

Danny's expression hardened, his jaw clenching as his voice grew colder. "Afraid of what, Colleen? That I'd find out you've been lying to me? That you've been a part of everything I've been fighting against?"

She looked down, her voice barely above a whisper as she replied, "No, I was afraid because I didn't know if you were right, if I was... with the bad guys. I thought maybe you were just—"

"Crazy? Delusional?" Danny's words cut her off, and the sharpness of his tone made her flinch.

Sensing that the conversation was spiraling out of control, Claire stepped forward, raising a hand in a placating gesture. "Danny, just... take a breath. Colleen made a choice to leave them, to come clean now. It counts for something, doesn't it?"

Danny turned toward her, and for a moment, his expression was a raw mix of betrayal and pain. He gestured toward Colleen, his voice bitter. "Does it? The Hand attacked the hospital, Claire. They killed your friend. And she—" he shot a pained glance at Colleen, "—was with them."

Claire's face softened at the mention of her lost friend, and though the pain flickered in her eyes, she took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice steady. "I know what they did. Believe me, I know. But I also know people can change. Colleen's here, she's telling you now. Maybe she's trying to make things right."

Colleen's shoulders slumped, tears welling in her eyes as she whispered, "I'm so sorry, Danny. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I just... I didn't want to lose you."

Danny looked at her, and for a moment, the hurt in his eyes was open, raw. But then he shut down, closing himself off. He took a step back, shaking his head slowly. "It's too late for that, Colleen. I don't even know who you are right now. You were with them. You stood by them, even while I was out there risking my life, thinking you had my back."

Colleen started. "Look-"

"You've been lying to me this whole time! How do I know you weren't leading me into a trap this entire time?"

"I chose to help you! I'm not with them anymore, Danny, but I didn't know how to tell you. I thought I could—"

"You thought you could what? Make me trust you and then turn me over to Bakuto?"

Colleen's heart ached at the distance growing between them, the distrust in his eyes, but she couldn't find the words to bridge the gap. Claire glanced between them, wanting to help but knowing that her words couldn't change what had already been said.

Danny turned toward the door, his voice low and resigned as he spoke. "I need... I need some space. I can't be here right now."

He moved toward the exit, his steps heavy with the weight of their shattered trust. Colleen stood up, taking a half-step toward him, her voice breaking as she called out. "Danny, please—"

He paused at the doorway, but he didn't turn back. His voice came out quiet, almost too quiet, as he replied, "I thought I knew you, Colleen. But right now, I don't even know what to believe anymore."

He opened the door and stepped out, letting it swing shut behind him with a dull thud. The silence that followed was deafening, leaving Colleen standing alone in the dim light of the dojo, tears slipping down her cheeks. Claire moved toward her, hesitating for a moment before placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Give him time, Colleen," Claire said gently, her voice tinged with sympathy. "This is... a lot for him. For all of us."

Colleen nodded wordlessly, but the ache in her chest felt like it was breaking her apart. She knew that, even if Danny came back, things between them might never be the same.

Claire then sighed. "But…even I'm not sure what to make of this right now, frankly."

Colleen looked at Claire. "When you told me what they did to those kids, and to your friends, that's when I knew they were not who I thought they were." She looked down. "I'm sorry." And then she looked back up at Claire. "And thank you."

Claire could see the sincerity and remorse in Colleen's eyes over having been part of The Hand for so long, and just shook her head, putting a hand to Colleen's shoulder.

"You're welcome."

Rand Enterprises

Ward took a long swig from his flask, then heard the door opening and quickly scrambled, putting it inside, but in the process, fell out of his chair, which was when Joy peeked her head in, and her eyes widened.

"Oh my God! Are you all right?" Joy inquired, Ward groaning as he picked himself up.

"All….good", Ward said, but his slurring and expression made it clear to Joy that all was not good.

"What is going on with you?!" Joy finally asked, having had enough. "You keep going out of here at random times, you slip over your words, and your feet, as I've just seen, and you get angry over the most minor things!"

Of course she knew the reason, considering she'd met Harold, and knew what Ward was hiding, but he didn't know that she knew.

"Look, I'm fine, just too stressed is all", Ward told her while raising his hand, and Joy scoffed in anger and disgust.

"You're a very shitty liar, Ward", Joy snarled, and then stormed off.

"Joy!" Ward called out as he held out his hand but she'd already shut the door to his office, and all he could do was stare after her sadly.

Danny was near the building in which the portal was opening, just staring at it, thinking of the portal that was still in there, widening ever so slowly. Plus this was where he and Colleen had battled The Hand together, as a team, as partners, as people who'd each other's backs, as friends.

But….was it all just a lie?

The rubble was still scattered nearby, and Danny walked through there, his anger simmering just beneath the surface. The air still held a faint trace of smoke and dust, mingling with the cold city breeze. He clenched his fists, feeling the residual heat of the Iron Fist's power in his knuckles. Focused and determined, he started to scan the area, using his heightened senses to pick up anything unusual, using his chi and honed senses to try and get anything.

The sound of muffled footsteps, subtle but rapid, caught his attention—right on the side of the building. He closed his eyes, centering himself, allowing the quiet of the now cleared area to reveal what was hidden. He caught faint whispers, quick breaths—voices speaking in hushed tones, laced with urgency. The distinct cadence of their movements and the clipped, sharp consonants of their language were unmistakable to him: the Hand.

Danny adjusted his stance and moves through the rubble, keeping to the side as he zeroed in on the sounds. As he approached the origin of the noise, he spotted two figures, dressed in dark clothes, slipping down the side street now. They carried themselves with the controlled precision of trained operatives, but their steps had a nervous edge—like prey that knows it's being hunted. They hadn't seen him yet, but Danny hung back just enough to avoid detection, his anger sharpening his focus.

Soon enough, they reached a playground, which was when another Ninja leapt at Danny from the side, throwing him to the ground, but Danny kicked him away and stood up, and saw a few more charging him, so he rolled back and rushed off, leaping over a fence. One tried to leap at him but he spun and kicked that one's feet, taking him down.

He then ran further through bushes, and slid underneath a jungle gym before reaching the other side and turning around, blocked two of their blows and kicked one back before avoiding one's swing, as he held onto a slide and dodged more swings, the swords hitting the slide instead.

Then he pushed one Ninja off while another kicked him into a wooden playset, and he leapt onto the swing's other side to avoid being hit, before dodging a Ninja's strikes that struck the wood, after which he ended up kicking the Ninja on the head, knocking him out.

Another one swung at him from above but Danny dodged and tripped the Ninja with his feet, making him fall down, after which he blocked and dodged another's blows, being kicked back, only to smack him away, then grab onto the wooden playset and lift himself up to dodge a sword swing, when from above, he got kicked by a Ninja and was sent rolling down.

He picked himself up and rushed to the jungle gym, smacking one Ninja away and backing to avoid another's swings before holding onto the jungle gym and kicking his hand to deflect his swing, after which Danny kicked him out.

One Ninja kicked his side, making Danny let go of the jungle gym, and then he blocked that one's kicks before raising his head above the jungle gym and dodging sword swings from a Ninja there, and he kicked the two Ninjas below away, before dodging another sword swing by the Ninja above.

At that point, he grabbed the guy's feet and threw him from the jungle gym onto the ground. One Ninja rushed at him from the side with a sword but Danny dodged, and as another Ninja leapt and grabbed onto the jungle gym to kick him, Danny grabbed onto it and flipped onto its other side instead, grabbing a Ninja's feet and throwing him down, after which Danny punched him out.

Danny then grabbed onto the jungle gym and avoided more blows before leaping onto a Ninja, knocking him out. He slid underneath the jungle gym to its other side as a Ninja leapt right at him, but Danny kicked him away with both feet.

Then he rolled away to avoid the swings of a Ninja trying to strike him with his sword, and used his elbows to deflect his arms, before rolling away again and kicking his feet as he went down, and then Danny kicked him away.

Another charged as Danny rolled back and got up, trading blows with him, only to be punched back as another kicked him and another tried to slice him but he used the elbow to deflect that Ninja's arm, only for the middle one to kick him back near a dustbin.

Danny picked up the dustbin and threw it at them as they backed to avoid, and then ran as the Ninjas rushed after him.

He ran near some swings and knelt down, making one Ninja trip over him and fall down, and then he grabbed that one's sword before getting up to block a swing, and he went onto the pole's side, leaping up to avoid two swings, and falling upon one to throw him down, and then he rolled away while blocking strikes by two more, before slicing at one's foot as he gasped and went down, and Danny spun, then sliced the back of his neck, taking him down.

Danny then threw the sword at the feet of another charging one as he went down, then grabbed the sword of the one he'd just beaten, rolling away and getting up as he blocked more sword strikes.

The three Ninjas kept clashing with him before he threw his sword at one who dodged but Danny leapt and kicked him away while grabbing another and flipping him down as he took his sword. Then he rolled away to avoid the swing of the one standing and rushed to a swing, leaping on it and kicking one Ninja down, then blocking the strike of the next one.

Then he leapt upon the swing and sliced another down, before clashing with another and kicking him away, then lifting another by both feet and throwing him off too. One remaining Ninja kicked him away with both feet but Danny got back up, ready to fight more.

The Ninja tried to strike but Danny blocked his swing and punched him away before slicing him out. Then, he noticed some remaining Ninjas sneaking away and continued to follow them.

Rand Enterprises

Joy was on her laptop, having opened it in incognito mode, and was looking through various financial deposits that had been 'off the books' over the years. Harold had given Joy this information secretly to quell her doubts, but also warned her to not investigate anything beyond this, regardless of how curious it got her.

She looked through all the deposits, the flow of money now making sense to her as she realized it was either to maintain the penthouse in which he'd hidden himself, or to do stuff for these dangerous people with whom he'd gotten involved, sadly.

Joy scrolled down, looking through older deposits, and also found some from the time when her father had been legally alive. As she scrolled further down, one date really got her interest.

Something had been stored in a warehouse of their company literally a day after the plane crash that had killed the Rands (other than Danny of course) had been reported.

This was….new. Getting up, Joy walked out, only to see Ward walking out himself, and stopped him. "Ward!"

Ward turned to look at her. "Yes?"

"I noticed something was kept in a Rand Enterprises warehouse just a day after the plane crash that killed the Rands", Joy said to him, and his eyes widened in shock, clearly at her finding out. "What was that about?"

"I have no idea, Joy", Ward said with a groan, causing her to scoff in disgust.

"You and your lies!" She said angrily.

"Look Joy, whatever it is, I think you should stay away from it, it won't be good", Ward tried to warn her.

"More excuses", she said while shaking her head before storming off back into her office, Ward sighing as he couldn't think of anything to say to her regarding this.

The Ninjas led Danny deeper into the city's labyrinthine backstreets, weaving through alleyways and slipping into the dense residential neighborhood nearby. Danny kept his distance but stayed close enough to observe as they slipped into a nondescript apartment building—one of many, but its worn exterior and flickering lights make it an ideal hideout. He watched through a window as they exchanged quick words with more shadowy figures, gesturing toward a hidden back room. The scent of oil, wood and metal wafted through the air—an armory.

Danny slipped closer, taking a position on a fire escape that let him peer into their makeshift base of operations, knowing that a confrontation was inevitable.

The Ninjas went into the armory. Using his chi, Danny got the window open, and jumped inside, grabbing a big but thin log, then lighting up his fist with chi as he touched the log, and its tip burst into flames.

"Hey!" He called out, causing the Ninjas to turn to him as they got out of the armory, and Danny rushed at them with the burning log, making them back off due to the fire, and he held it out at them.

Then one of them threw an entire rack of weapons in his direction, causing Danny to let go of the log as he'd to roll away to avoid the rack.

As he got up, they charged him, but Danny spun one around and punched his side before throwing him off, then backed to avoid blows by two more, before his knee was kicked as he went down, but smacked that one away, only to be kicked by the other one, and a barrel was kicked in his direction. Danny got up and leaping, kicked the barrel back at the Ninjas, who'd to dodge it themselves.

Then Danny smacked one away and grabbed another's foot as he tried to kick before flipping him over another one, and then he spin-kicked two in different directions away in quick succession.

Then he spun and kicked another back, before being punched but he punched that one back as well, and then kicked another down, before blocking the strikes of two of them simultaneously and punching them both down in quick succession, after which Danny slid on the ground and kicked another one's feet from underneath him.

Then Danny got up and elbowed one away, and blocking another's strike, spun and elbowed him back before leaping and kicking another one away.

He then ran up to one more and punched him twice before kicking him away so hard he flew up and fell down. Turning around, Danny ran to another one and spin-kicked him twice right to the ground.

Then he saw some of them picking out weapons from the armory, and because of that, he lit up his Iron Fist, before punching it on the ground lightly, causing a shockwave to go about which made all the Ninjas fly up and fall down as huge cracks were formed all over the place and some rubble fell down here and there.

Colleen, who was walking nearby to clear her own head, looked up to see the window of the apartment getting blown out, and knew it was Danny fighting The Hand.

Satisfied that he'd won this fight, Danny leapt out of the window and slid and jumped down via the ledges.

After that, he began to walk off, the cool air of the night on his face, still thinking of Colleen's confession. Footsteps sounded behind him, light and hesitant, but he didn't turn around immediately. He knew it was her. He could feel her presence, the tension in the air shifting as she drew nearer. When she stopped a few feet away, he finally glanced over his shoulder. Colleen stood there, her expression determined but tinged with uncertainty, her arms wrapped tightly around herself as if she was trying to hold everything inside from spilling out.

"Danny..." she began, her voice barely carrying over the night air. "I couldn't let it end like that. I had to find you, to try again."

He sighed, turning away from her, the shadows casting deep lines across his face. "Why, Colleen?" he asked, his tone weary. "What else is there to say? You lied to me. You were with them, all this time, and you didn't tell me until now. How am I supposed to just... look past that?"

Colleen took a step closer, her hands trembling as she tried to find the right words. "I left The Hand for you, Danny. I fought for you. But I can't make you trust me—I just need you to understand why I did what I did."

Danny finally turned to face her fully, taking in the pain etched across her face. His own hurt softened for a moment, a flicker of the closeness they used to share shining through, but it faded just as quickly. He shook his head, running a hand through his hair as he struggled to voice the turmoil inside him.

"I want to believe you, Colleen," he said, his voice low, almost broken. "I want to believe that you're on my side, that you're the same person I thought you were. But right now, I don't know who I can trust. Everything feels like a lie. How am I supposed to know what's real anymore?"

Colleen's face crumpled, and she took another step toward him, desperation slipping into her tone. "I never meant to hurt you, Danny. I was so confused—about everything, about what The Hand was really doing, about what you were fighting for. When I realized the truth, it was too late. I thought I could make things right, that I could... prove myself to you, somehow."

Her words hung in the air, and Danny's expression softened slightly, but the hurt remained. He could see the sincerity in her eyes, but he couldn't ignore the tight knot of betrayal in his chest. He looked down, his voice barely a whisper. "You should have told me sooner, Colleen. You should have trusted me, trusted that I would understand. Now, I just don't know if I can believe anything you say."

Colleen blinked back tears, her voice cracking as she replied, "I was scared. Scared of what you'd think of me, of losing you. And now... now I've lost you anyway, haven't I?"

Danny glanced up at her, and for a moment, he hesitated. He could see how much she was hurting, and it tugged at him, the urge to reach out, to comfort her. But he couldn't find it in himself to close the distance. Instead, he shook his head, his expression conflicted. "I don't know, Colleen. I don't know what's left between us. Maybe I just need time. Maybe we both do."

Colleen's shoulders sagged, and she took a shaky breath, trying to hold back the tears threatening to spill. "I'm sorry, Danny. I really am. I wish I could go back and change everything... but I can't." Her voice softened to a whisper. "I just hope that, someday, you'll be able to see that I'm still the same person you cared about."

Danny didn't respond right away. He turned his gaze back to the darkened park, staring into the shadows. He wanted to find hope in her words, but all he felt was a lingering emptiness. "Maybe," he said finally, though even he didn't sound convinced.

Colleen watched him for a moment longer, then turned away, her steps heavy as she walked back into the night. She didn't look back, knowing that seeing the distance in his eyes would only make the ache in her chest worse. Danny listened as her footsteps faded into the background noise of the city, feeling a pang of regret settle in his gut.

He stayed there long after she was gone, standing alone beneath the dim park lights, wondering if this could be salvaged, or if it would remain the way it was.

With that, he walked into an alley, his mind still heavy due to her confession, and the portal which was still opening up slowly, and he wondered what to do about either situation.

That was when he sensed something, and looked ahead in the alley to see a figure hidden in the shadows.

Sensing a danger, Danny clutched his fists, ready to fight, but did not change his stance, hoping to not alert the person about the fact that he'd sensed danger from him.

"You don't deserve the power of the Iron Fist, Danny. You never did. I'm here to take it back."

Danny's eyes widened his horror and his breath was caught in his throat as he recognized the person to whom this very voice belonged.

The figure stepped out of the shadows, glaring at Danny, his own fists clutched, as he toom a fighting stance, ready to fight Danny.

Davos had a cold look on his face, yet also resentful and determined at the same time, wanting to fight Danny to get the Iron Fist for himself as he believed it to belong to him by rights.

"Davos?" Danny cried out in shock and surprise. "What are you doing here? How did you get out of K'un-Lun?!"

"The same way you did", Davos snarled, still in his fighting stance. "And I'm here to claim what is rightfully mine- the Iron Fist! Fight me!"

Danny continued to look at him in shock, then slowly, reluctantly, he took his own fighting stance, the two men, warriors from K'un-Lun, and former friends prepared to fight.

Ending credits play.

A shorter one this time but after all the action in the last chapter, we needed room to breathe, so here we go, this will be one of the shorter episodes if this was an actual show, since the episodes always slightly varied in length in these Netflix MCU shows.

Colleen has confessed to Danny, and you can see he didn't react well, though he can't be fully blamed either.

Meanwhile, Joy has found something interesting while looking through old transactions, and will look into it.

The two fight scenes were from Jackie Chan's films 'Police Story 2' and 'Armour of God'.

Danny could sense the Ninjas but he didn't become Daredevil or anything. They weren't that far from him, and he has honed senses of a warrior, plus chi, so he could sense they were close.

And finally- Davos has come!

Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
