The Island Challenge
The next morning after Lincoln wakes up, he heads for the dining room and has breakfast with Kahuna Hala and Hau.
"That was an amazing battle we had last night, Lincoln." said Hau.
"Yeah, it was pretty close." said Lincoln.
"Lincoln; remember when you asked if you could do the Island Challenge?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"Yes, sir." said Lincoln as he takes a bite of food.
"After your impressive performance last night, I believe that you are capable of doing the Island Challenge." said Kahuna Hala.
"Really?" replied Lincoln. Kahuna Hala nods as he takes out some sort of an amulet that had a charm with four different colored triangles on it, along with matching beads on the wrist band of it.
"This is an Island Challenge Amulet, Lincoln." said Kahuna Hala. "It's something that trainers have to identify themselves as Island Challengers. Lincoln takes the amulet and puts it around his wrist.
"Thanks." said Lincoln.
"You'll also need a Trainer's Passport in order to travel from island to island." said Kahuna Hala.
"Where can I get one?" asked Lincoln.
"You can get one from Professor Kukui." said Kahuna Hala.
"I'll ask him tomorrow at school." said Lincoln.
"Very well." said Kahuna Hala. After everyone finishes eating and cleans their dishes, Lincoln heads to Hau'oli City to hang out for a while. As he walks around, he sees Mallow, Lillie, Alola Lana, Sophocles, and Kiawe walking down a sidewalk.
"Alola, everyone!" said Lincoln, getting their attention.
"Alola, Lincoln!" said Mallow as she and the others run over to him.
"How are you doing this morning?" asked Lillie.
"Good so far." said Lincoln. As Kiawe looks at Lincoln, he notices his Island Challenge Amulet.
"You're doing the Island Challenge?" asked Kiawe.
"Yeah." said Lincoln with excitement. "I just got my amulet from Kahuna Hala a few minutes ago."
"Are you sure you're ready for it?" asked Kiawe. "The trials can be pretty tough."
"I won't know until I try." said Lincoln.
"Well, I guess it's your decision." said Kiawe.
"Maybe you should train up your Pokemon a bit more before trying?" suggested Sophocles.
"Yeah, maybe that would be a good idea." said Lincoln.
"One of the trials is north of here in a place called Verdant Cavern." said Mallow.
"Maybe I'll check it out next weekend." said Lincoln. "I can train up my Pokemon some more in the meantime, plus I still have school to focus on."
"Okay then." said Sophocles. Lincoln and his friends spent a large part of the day just hanging out on the beach. Right now, Lincoln was riding across the ocean on the back of a Sharpedo that had a riding saddle on its back.
"This is so awesome!" said Lincoln. He has the Sharpedo take him underwater after a while so he can see the beautiful sights that were down there for as long as he could hold his breath. He soon returns to the dock where the lady who he got the Sharpedo from was waiting for him.
"Did you enjoy yourself?" asked the lady.
"You bet I did!" said Lincoln.
"I'm glad to hear that." said the lady. "Come back if you want to do it again."
"Thanks, ma'am; thanks, Sharpedo." said Lincoln, making Sharpedo grin at him. Lincoln then goes back to where his friends were currently at on the beach and grabs his towel to dry himself off with. Mallow was wearing a light green, two-piece, swimsuit with orange floral designs, Alola Lana was wearing a dark blue, one-piece swimsuit with the image of a blue fish on it, Lillie was wearing a light blue, two-piece swimsuit with white seashell braids, Sophocles was wearing a white and green striped bathing suit, and Kiawe was wearing orange and white swim trunks.
"You looked like you were having a lot of fun out on that Sharpedo, Lincoln." said Alola Lana.
"Yeah, it was so much fun!" said Lincoln.
"We're glad you're experiencing new things, son." Lynn Sr's voice calls out, surprising Lincoln.
"Dad?!" Lincoln replied as he looks around, but then notices his Rotom Phone was floating near him with his family on the screen.
"Yeah, they called while you were heading over to the docks to where that Sharpedo Riding business was at, so I answered." explained Mallow.
"How did they get my number?" asked Lincoln.
"Actually, your device's number is still the same as it was before that Rotom modified it." explained Lisa.
"Oh." said Lincoln.
"That Sharpedo Riding looked like a lot of fun!" said Lana Loud.
"I wish I was there to try it out myself." said Lynn Jr.
"I just want to hang out on the beach there and do some shopping there." said Lori.
"Totes." said Leni.
"Same here." said Lola. Lincoln then sees that Lori, Leni, and Lola were wearing the accessories he bought at Alola Sunrise yesterday.
"I see you all got the things I got for you." said Lincoln.
"Yes; thanks again for buying them for us." said Lori.
"And thanks for paying for next day delivery." said Lola.
"So, what else have you been up to, Lincoln?" asked Rita. Lincoln tells them about the Island Challenge, the Alola League, and his plans to participate in them.
"Sounds like you'll be plenty busy with school and all that other stuff." said Lynn Sr.
"Make sure you enjoy yourself while doing that Island Challenge thing, Lincoln." said Rita.
"Okay, Mom." said Lincoln. They all talk for a while longer until Lincoln decides to end the call. As he lies back onto his towel, he hears Mallow whistling to him, getting his attention.
"Lincoln?" says Mallow as she holds out a bottle of sunscreen. "Would you mind rubbing some of this on my back?" Lincoln's entire face turns bright red.
"S-S-Sure." Lincoln stutters as he reaches for the bottle of sunscreen, making Mallow giggle, and everyone else chuckle. After spending time at the beach, Lincoln says goodbye to his friends and makes his way back to Iki Town, looking forward to the next day when he gets a Trainer's Passport from Professor Kukui at the Pokemon School so he can do the Island Challenge so he can earn the right to compete in the Alola League.
