"Alright, start talking," said Eliza who had gone to the mess hall with Jake and Emma where they were sitting at one of the many tables.
"We are no longer in the twenty-first century but nineteen forty three," said Jake.
"And everyone here on the ship is known as a Peculiar," he said.
"None of that even makes sense," said Eliza while looking at him with an expression that said she was not following at all.
"Nothing around her will," said Emma before standing and removing her boots to allow herself to fly up to the ceiling.
"How… how is…?" asked a shocked Eliza.
"It's her peculiarity," said Jake.
"Then what can you do?" asked Eliza as Jake helped Emma down and held onto her shoulders so that she could get her boots back on..
"Same thing grandpa could, I can see our enemies, the Hollows," said Jake.
"They hunt Peculiars to eat them but only two Peculiars have been known to see them," said Emma.
"Then grandpa was not crazy but murdered?" asked a shocked Eliza.
"That's right," said Jake.
"Do your parents know about any of this?" asked Eliza.
"If I had said anything I would have been locked away before I was able to escape back here to meet up with them," said Jake.
"Okay, but how did I get here?" asked Eliza.
"You have activated your peculiarity without knowing," said Miss. Peregrine as she walked into the room.
"Eliza, this is Miss. Peregrine, she's the head of this place," said Jake.
"Nice to meet you ma'am, but did you just say that I have a peculiarity?" asked Eliza as she got up and shook the woman's hand.
"I did," said Miss. Peregrine.
