Chapter 5.

Emily was falling down and down, she could see the light of Heaven getting further and further away, she tried desperately to flap her wings, but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't gain any height, she just kept falling.

As Emily got closer and closer to Hell she could feel herself heating up, at first it felt as if she was standing out in the sunlight on a hot day, but soon it became hotter, soon she felt as if her skin was on fire, it was like being dunked into lava.

And then, Emily really did catch fire, she became an angel shaped fireball as she entered Hell, Emily screamed as she fell further and further down, she was in so much pain, she'd never even felt pain before, pain didn't exist in Heaven, but now she was feeling more pain than most humans would in their entire lives.

Emily was coming down hard on Pentagram City, she didn't know where she was going to land, she wasn't even looking, she had her eyes closed, trying to ignore the horrible burning all over her body.

Unfortunately, Emily didn't have a happy landing, she hit the edge of a building, breaking off a good chunk of bricks as she bounced off, from there Emily fell and hit the side of the next building and she fell down into an alley.

Emily lay there on the ground of the alley, she was shaking and crying, she wasn't even sure if she was crying from the pain she was feeling all over her body or the betrayal she felt in her heart.

It took a couple of minutes for Emily to push herself into a sitting position, when she did she got a look at where she was, the alley that she was in was filthy, there was a couple of overflowing dumpsters, there was broken alcohol bottles and drug needles on the floor, and there was a puddle of foul smelling liquid that Emily couldn't identify.

This place was disgusting, it was completely unlike anything that Emily had ever seen in Heaven, the mere smell alone was enough to make her feel sick.

Emily grabbed one of the dumpsters and used it to pull herself to her feet, as she did so she felt a sharp pain in one of her wings that made her shriek, Emily's grip on the dumpster tightened as she tried to process everything that was happening.

Emily carefully moved her wings one by one and found that her middle left wing hurt so much it brought tears to her eyes, with another shriek of pain Emily was able to retract her wings into her body, at least this way they wouldn't be damaged any further and they would have a chance to heal.

On shaking legs and using the wall as support, Emily made her way out of the alley and into the street, and what she saw wasn't present.

She could see people attacking each other in the streets, they was literally tearing each other to bloody pieces, she could see prostitutes selling themselves on the street corners, dressed in outfits that would be outlawed in Heaven.

But the thing that disturbed Emily the most was the protesters, there was a mob of sinners going down the street, they was brandishing angelic weapons and signs that said things like, Down with Heaven, and, Death to the angels, the sight of this sent shivers down Emily's spine.

The protesters moved down the street and closer to Emily, Emily froze in fear when some of the mob looked straight at her, but to both Emily's surprise and relief, they walked straight passed her without a second glance.

Emily was confused, if the mob was against the angels why had they just walked passed her like that, as Emily staggered her way down the street she caught sight of her reflection in a nearby shop window and received her answer.

After her fall from Heaven Emily didn't exactly look angelic, her once pure white dress was burned black and torn, her hair was covered in ash and soot to the point that it looked grey, and her face was covered in a thin layer of filth, add to the fact that she no longer had a halo and that her wings was currently retracted, she just looked like a homeless sinner.

Emily looked away from her reflection, seeing herself like that made her want to jump into a nice hot bath, but she supposed that this wasn't a good time to be recognised as an angel.

Emily continued down the street, as she passed a prostitute smoking a cigarette she realised that she had no idea what to do or where to go, she was an angel in Hell, a place that she had never been to before, a place that clearly didn't like angels.

A tear formed in Emily's eye as her fear returned, what was she supposed to do, she didn't know what to do, she didn't know where to go, she didn't even know where she could go, she was alone, she didn't have anyone who could help her.

No, she did know someone, there was someone down here that she knew, Charlie, but Emily didn't know how to find Charlie.

Emily leaned against a street light as she tried to think, she supposed that Charlie would most likely be at her hotel, but she still didn't know where that was.

Emily turned to the prostitute that she had just passed, "Er, excuse me Ms" she said in a timid voice, the prostitute looked at Emily and took a drag of her cigarette, "It's $50 if you want your pussy licked, anything more than that costs extra" she said.

Emily's face turned bright red at the mere suggestion, "N-No, no, I don't want anything like that, I was just wondering if you could give me directions, I don't know where to go" said Emily very quickly.

The prostitute wasn't impressed, "What do I look like, a tour guide, go and find it yourself" she snapped as she turned away, Emily felt her heart sink, how was she supposed to find her way now.

Emily had only taken a few steps away from the prostitute when another sinner stepped in front of her, he was rather large, he looked like walrus and he stank of booze, "Hey pretty face, I can help you find your way, if you give me a little something first" he said as he looked Emily up and down and licked his lips.

This guy was enough to make Emily feel sick, she might have spent her entire life in Heaven, but she wasn't naive enough to trust this guy, "Er, no thanks, I'll find my own way" said Emily as she tried to skirt around him.

But the sinner wasn't about to let Emily go so easily, and he grabbed her arm, "I insist, this is no place for a sweet girl like you" he breathed, "Hey, let me go" said Emily her voice becoming scared.

"Hey, girl" shouted the prostitute who had been watching from her spot on the street, the walrus sinner stopped pulling on Emily, his concentration momently split, "The Hazbin Hotel is on the north part of the city, it's the largest building, you can't miss it" said the prostitute.

Emily quickly pulled her arm out of the walrus sinner's grip, "Thank you" she called back to the prostitute as she ran down the street as fast as her legs could carry her, the walrus sinner glared at the prostitute in rage, "Bitch" he called her as he walked down an alleyway.

Emily was running through the city, she didn't care that her legs was aching or that she was exhausted, after what had just happened she had no intension of stopping until she reached the hotel.

As she ran, Emily ignored all of the horrible things around her, she didn't want to see all of this blood, and sex, and cannibalism.

After what felt like hours, Emily arrived at a huge building, Emily felt relief at seeing the words Hazbin Hotel, it was like a sign screaming safety.

Even as she ran to the door, Emily thought that the hotel was far bigger and grander than she had imagined, she wasn't sure why there was a statue of a dragon out front but she had to admit that it did make the place look even grandiose.

Now puffing and panting Emily leaned against the front door as she knocked, she hoped that someone would come quickly, she wasn't sure how much longer she could stay standing.

The wait was only about 3 minutes, but for Emily it felt like 30, the door opened and Charlie appeared with a welcoming smile, "Welcome to the Haz... Emily?".

That was the last thing Emily heard before her strength finally gave out and she fell forwards.
