Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: Chaos Theory
Act 13: Sailor Cosmos vs. Tuxedo Kamen
By: Sora Kazeno
As the title hints there is going to be a battle between Sailor Cosmos and Tuxedo Kamen this act but is Sailor Cosmos really going to attack Tuxedo Kamen?
Mamoru stopped dead in his tracks when he saw her. There was no mistaking that hairstyle. Her golden hair was tied back in her traditional odango style. Her back was facing him as she walked down the street carefree. His heart sped up as he approached her. He moved cautiously as he closed the gap between them.
"Be careful Mamoru-san," Luna said as her tail twitched. She jumped off of Mamoru's shoulder and kept her distance. She had a feeling she would only hamper his efforts if she remained on his shoulder.
Mamoru only vaguely paid attention to Luna's warning. If there was a chance that this was Usagi he was going to follow her until the ends of the Earth.
Sailor Neptune was relieved when she finally reached the bottom of the staircase. She was in a large room lit by a flaming torch on the wall. She didn't understand why the torch was burning but she was thankful for the light. As she examined the objects in the room she felt a strong power coming from one of the objects. She saw a trident, broach, painting, jeweled necklace, scepter, ring, various other pendants, a cape, piles of fabric, the list was endless. She closed her eyes for a moment concentrating on which object seemed to be generating the strong power she felt. Sailor Neptune opened her eyes again and slowly approached the various artifacts on the table with new confidence.
Mamoru had quickly increased his pace and it didn't take him long to catch up to the girl that looked like Usagi. She was waiting at a street corner for the light to change. Mamoru approached her and thought of what to say to her. He said the first thing that came to his mind. "Usako…" he said softly.
The girl turned around and her eyes lit up when she saw Mamoru. "Mamo-chan!" Usagi exclaimed as she ran into his arms. She hugged him tightly and buried her face in his chest. She began sobbing. Mamoru quickly embraced her. Mamoru was confused by what was happening but he knew it was the real Usagi. The warm and joy she radiated could not be duplicated.
Luna raised an eyebrow at the tender scene before her. She wanted to believe that Usagi was back to normal but it seemed too simple.
Sailor Mercury felt relieved she didn't have to cross another ledge. She was standing in front of giant ruins. She slowly entered the remains of the city and carefully surveyed her surroundings. She headed for a building with parts of several large columns still standing. The building seemed to be in the best condition compared the surrounding buildings.
Sailor Mercury walked inside the building and gasped. She entered a large library that seemed to be in perfect condition. There were tables to the side and rows of bookcases full of books. If she had more time she would gladly sit here and read as many books as she could to learn as much about her heritage as she could. But she had to focus on her mission.
She continued into the library and came to what looked like a librarian's desk. At the desk sat a very old, very small man with glasses. He was semi-transparent.
"Ah Princess Ami!" The spirit said with much joy in his voice. He jumped down from the stool he sat in and walked to the front side of the desk. "I have been expecting you for quite some time. I was starting to wonder if the day would ever come!" He was beaming as he talked to her.
Sailor Mercury looked down at the very short man that was only as tall as her waist. "Hello," she said in a very formal greeting not sure how to respond to the greeting she had received.
"For centuries your mother left something here in my possession. I imagine you are here for that object. Please follow me," he said as he directed her down a long hallway.
Sailor Mercury was hesitant but decided to follow him. She tapped her earring to summon her visor to be on the safe side. She followed silently behind the man.
"As yes, here we are," the old man said as he pushed a heavy mahogany door open. "The rare materials collection," he said as he entered the room. Sailor Mercury followed him in silence.
"Usako, what happened?" Mamoru asked as he tried to make sense of everything. He was ecstatic to see her but he couldn't believe she was back to normal just like that.
"Everything is fine now Mamo-chan. Now that I'm with you," she said smiling up at him with loving eyes. "I have my prince with me. I love you Endymion."
Mamoru stopped hugging Usagi. She rarely called him Endymion unless she was Princess Serenity. It had to be a trap. He put a little space between the two of them and took a few steps back.
Usagi looked at him, confusion written in her eyes. "What's wrong Mamo-chan?"
"You're not the real Usako," he finally said waiting for the person in front of him to make her next move.
Usagi began to laugh evilly at him. "I guess I slipped along the way. But I suggest you go to the park or I'm going to start collecting starseeds," she said with an evil smile as she vanished into a spectrum of rainbow colors.
"It has to be a trap," Luna said as she rushed up to Mamoru.
"But what choice do I have?" Mamoru asked as he looked down at Luna.
Deimos slowly walked next to Sailor Mars as he talked to her. "We are here to guide you on your quest," the crow explained to Sailor Mars. "But we have a long journey ahead of us. The object you seek is at the North Pole.
"I will travel as far as I need to in order to help the Princess," Sailor Mars said with determination in her voice.
Phobos nodded his head at Sailor Mars' response. The three remained silent as they headed further north.
Sailor Pluto slowly walked along the twisted paths. A clang sound grabbed her attention and a gust of wind appeared. She ducked just in time as a large blade flew down the hall. It was a trap. She was beginning to doubt her decision to go this way. She wasn't sure if she could find her way back even if she tried. She knew she needed to press forward. She waited a few minutes to make sure nothing else would be thrown at her before she continued on again.
She stopped at a drawing on wall. It stated the tomb to Chronos lies ahead. She froze when she read the sign. Chronos was the original King of Pluto and his wife was the first Sailor Pluto.
Sailor Pluto slowly continued her journey forward. She frowned when she game across a walk blocking her path. How could the tomb lie ahead when the passage way was blocked? She brushed her hand again the wall and removed some the dirt. She noticed an indentation in the wall that seemed to be the same size at the crown of her staff. She thought it over for a moment and slowly detached the crown from the base of the staff. She placed the crown into the wall and the garnet orb began to glow. She heard a loud rumbling sound as the door slowly slid to the right. The door revealed another set of stairs. Sailor Pluto removed the crown from the wall and returned it to its rightful place on top of her staff.
Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne were in the middle of terrorizing individuals in the park. "It is a waste to go after their starseeds," Sailor Lethe said as they fled from her. "I know that they don't have pure starseeds and theirs will only turn black."
"Leave them alone," said Tuxedo Kamen as he seemed to step out from behind the trees. He wasn't quite sure what to expect but he knew he had to be on guard.
"Now that a pure starseed has appeared, I will take yours," threatened Sailor Lethe as she raised her two bracelets in front of her chest. A few seconds later Sailor Lethe released energy from her bracelet directed at Tuxedo Kamen.
Tuxedo Kamen ducked Sailor Lethe's attack only to be hit by Sailor Mnemosyne's attack. He was able to avoid the blunt of the attack but part of it hit his right shoulder. The pain stung. He pulled out his cane hoping it would help him deflect the next attack.
"That stick isn't going to save you!" Sailor Lethe taunted as she fired more golden energy at Tuxedo Kamen. A blur of white appeared before Tuxedo Kamen. The golden energy that Sailor Lethe fired at him dispersed. Sailor Cosmos stood in front of him. She protected him. Tuxedo Kamen was stunned. He was even more surprised by Sailor Cosmos' next action.
Sailor Cosmos walked away from Tuxedo Kamen and quickly closed the distance between herself and Sailor Lethe. "Tuxedo Kamen is my prey," she said in a menacing tone. Sailor Cosmos turned to Sailor Mnemosyne with an outstretched arm. "You're sister will pay the price." The bracelets on Sailor Mnemosyne glowed for a moment and then disappeared.
Sailor Mnemosyne dropped to her knees as felt the energy leave her body.
"No!" Sailor Lethe exclaimed as she rushed to Sailor Mnemosyne's side. Tears were in her eyes. Within a few moments Sailor Mnemosyne vanished. Sailor Lethe sat there for a moment as if she was frozen.
"You are dismissed," said Sailor Cosmos will a wave of her hand.
Sailor Lethe looked up at Sailor Cosmos as she narrowed her eyes. She didn't respond but disappeared.
Sailor Cosmos redirected her attention to a shocked Tuxedo Kamen. "Now where were we?" She asked with an evil smile.
"This isn't you Usako," said Tuxedo Kamen as he tried to help Usagi break through Chaos' control.
Sailor Cosmos glared at him. "You keep saying that yet you don't realize that I have freed Usagi. She had always been weighted down and now she isn't." Sailor Cosmos raised her staff as it began to glow. She fired one shot at Tuxedo Kamen.
Tuxedo Kamen easily dodged the attack. He couldn't believe he was actually going to have to fight her. "I don't want to fight you Usako." Tuxedo Kamen said with a lot of hurt in his voice.
"That's funny because I want to fight you!" Sailor Cosmos said as she blasted him again. "Do you have any idea how much pain you put Usagi through? Not having your memories… not once but twice! Breaking up with her because your future self said so! Not spending time with her unless she pulled her grades up and the best one yet was to abandon her and go to another country! How can you expect her to not be angry? She would never take her frustrations out on you though," said Sailor Cosmos at she glared at the man in front of her. "Good thing I'm not her!" Sailor Cosmos was about to attack again but she paused for a moment.
Usagi tried to escape the prison cell. She shook the bars trying to get out but they did not budge. Tears streamed down her face. "Leave Mamo-chan alone!" Usagi cried out even though she knew no one would hear her. The crescent moon symbol blazed on her forehead.
The crescent moon symbol flickered on Sailor Cosmo's forehead for a moment. She shook her head as if trying to clear her thoughts. The crescent moon was replaced by the ten pointed star. "Why you still struggle so much is beyond me," murmured Sailor Cosmos. "You're that afraid you're going to hurt him?" She laughed and turned her attention back to Tuxedo Kamen. "You have a starseed I wish to collect." She raised the bracelets on her wrists and fired energy from them at Tuxedo Kamen.
The attack never reached him since it was deflected by an aqua colored ball of energy.
Sailor Saturn walked through the graveyard. She stopped when she realized she wasn't alone anymore. Ahead of her looked like someone that could be the grim reaper. It was someone in a black hooded cloth with a scythe in its left boney hand. Sailor Saturn found it appropriate due to the nature of her powers.
"You are here because your powers have always focused on death," the hooded figure said. "You have to find an object that is associated with rebirth to obtain the power you seek." The hooded figured point to the left with its scythe. The figured disappeared from sight which left Sailor Saturn very confused.
She began to head in the direction the hooded figure had pointed. She racked her brain as she tried to think of an object she should look for that could symbol rebirth which had to do with the final part of her powers. She thought about her past. She died defeating Pharaoh 90 and was reborn due to Sailor Moon saving her. She died against Galaxia but Galaxia later returned her starseed. Sailor Saturn wonder for the first time if she should be reborn herself without the aid of Sailor Moon.
Sailor Saturn continued her journey on which led her out of the cemetery.
Sailor Venus looked around the shrine in awe. It was dedicated to the goddess of love, Venus. They were statues and parts of tapestries hanging on the walls. It looked as if he has been a while since anyone had been here. She remembered being here as a young child with her mother. She stopped when she saw a sign that declared everyone must bath before going into the shrine. Sailor Venus shrugged her shoulders and headed to a large room. She was shocked to find a large pool with crystal clear water that seemed to be sparkling. She remembered this pool as a young girl and thought about the custom. To not bath was to violate these ancient grounds and she was looking for something to help her unlock the rest of her powers. She didn't want to do anything to jeopardize it. She lowered herself to the pool and took one of her gloves off. The pool water was nice and warm. She thought the whole thing to be a bit strange but she had encountered a lot of bizarre things. What was one more?
A few cherry blossoms blew across the air. "The deep sea planet is my guardian deity, solider of embrace, Sailor Neptune!" Sailor Neptune stood there in a new sailor fuku. Her new fuku resembled Eternal Sailor Moon's. She wore long white boots that fell just below the knee. They were trimmed with an aqua accent and a golden star on the top band. She wore a pale aqua underskirt and a darker aqua over skirt. Her back bow color matched her underskirt and sleeve. Two long strains of aqua ribbon peaked out from up her back bow. She wore long white gloves trimmed with the same dark aqua color of her top skirt and sailor collar. She had two ribbon bands around her waist the same colors as her skirts. A golden star lied where the ribbons met in front of the bodice. She still had a navy blue bow on her chest. Her broach was now star shaped in teal. Her choker and sailor collar remained the same. Her tiara was replaced with the symbol of Neptune on her forehead.
Sailor Cosmos stared at Sailor Neptune's new uniform. After a moment she laughed. "Am I supposed to be intimidated by your style of clothing?" Sailor Cosmos asked as she narrowed her eyes at the new comer. "But I don't see how you can defeat me with new clothing."
Sailor Neptune smiled at the challenge Sailor Cosmos presented. Along with her new uniform she felt a new power and she was not afraid to use it. She raised her left index finger. "Neptune," she said softly as the symbol of her planet hovered over her index finger for a moment before it was consumed by water which expanded outward. The water swirled around her left hand and quickly took the shape of a violin. She placed the violin made of water on her shoulder and began to play with a bow made of water. A ball of water began to swirl where the strings touched the bow. The sphere quickly began to grow. "Violin Tide!" She exclaimed as the glowing sphere sped toward Sailor Cosmos.
Sailor Cosmos did her best to dodge Sailor Neptune's attack. Sailor Cosmos underestimated the power of Sailor Neptune's new attack. The teal colored ball hit Sailor Cosmos' left leg hard. It knocked her to ground. She cried out in pain. She placed her left hand on her leg and it began to emit a soft golden glow. The pain in her leg subsided as she healed herself. Her face was full of anger as she slowly rose to her feet. Her staff began to glow as she prepared her own attack to use against Sailor Neptune and Tuxedo Kamen. A few seconds later the collected energy left her staff.
Another blast of golden energy from the side hit the attack and dispersed the energy. Sailor Cosmos turned her attention to the side and saw the Golden Senshi, Sailor Galaxia. She took a few steps toward Sailor Cosmos.
Sailor Cosmos narrowed her eyes at the new comer, "now you want to ruin my fun." She said as tried to play off the weakness she felt from healing herself and the recent attack. In reality she needed to rest. Like Sailor Saturn, healing someone took a lot of energy. She looked at her opponents. She could not defeat the three at this time. She turned her back to them and disappeared as she walked away.
Sailor Galaxia took a moment to examine Sailor Neptune's new sailor fuku. "I am amazed you were able to unlock your power so quickly," she said. "You are the first senshi to return." Sailor Galaxia then turned her attention to Tuxedo Kamen. "We have been looking for you but had not way to contact you. Sailor Cosmos appeared yesterday and attacked us as well. I would like it to discuss in more. I think we should all return to the apartment of the Three Lights."
Sailor Uranus stood on the steps of the castle and looked up at the enormous structure. She brushed off some of the snow that had collected on her sailor collar, skirt and sleeves. She was surprised by how easy the decent down was. She drew in a deep breath and slowly pushed the door open. She was met with a lot of resistance as if she was trying to open a wind tunnel. She smirked at the obstacle that stood before her since she has been called the solider of wind. The air was cold and strong. She continued to struggle forward and forced her way in. She was finally able to pry the door open enough to squeeze inside. She then began to close the door shut. The wind helped her efforts and she was able to quickly close the door. After the door was completely shut the cold air began to feel like a soft breeze on an autumn night. Sailor Uranus raised her eyebrow in confusion. "I guess it can't be helped," she said as she continued down the hallway. The further she walked into the castle the less the wind gusted.
Galaxia was dressed in a pale orange dress as she led Mamoru, Michiru and Luna to a high rise building in the Juuban district. She knocked on the door. She heard a rustling sound as Taiki opened the door. He gasped when he saw whom Galaxia's companions where. He moved to the side to allow them into the apartment.
"Michiru-san?" Yaten said in surprise as he saw her. "It's good to see you. We need all the help we can get," he added at the last minute.
Michiru smiled at his remarks. "It is good to be back. Galaxia had mentioned you were attacked the other day? What happened?"
Taiki quickly explained their encounter with Sailor Cosmos yesterday, leaving out what Seiya had actually said to her. He summarized Seiya tried to talk to Sailor Cosmos to snap out of it and it seemed to work temporarily. He was attacked by Sailor Chi and Sailor Cosmos eliminated Sailor Chi, healed Seiya and left.
Galaxia noticed the crystal pendant Michiru wore around her neck. She felt a strong power coming from the aqua crystal. Galaxia moved closer to Michiru and asked her, "is the crystal your new source of power?"
"Yes," said Michiru as she placed a hand on the crystal. It was a small aqua crystal with the symbol of Neptune in gold in the center of the crystal.
"I sense a great power emitting from it," Galaxia said as she continued to stare at the crystal. "From what I saw your powers seemed to have increased greatly which make sense after I examined your pendant. It has star fragments within the crystal. They are very small though."
"It must be Queen Serenity's doing," Luna spoke up for the first time. "I would imagine she would have created safe guards in case something like this ever happened."
Galaxia nodded her. "Perhaps if everyone were to combine their powers against Chaos it might stop it. But we still have to find Sailor Moon's starseed."
A door opened in the back and Princess Kakyuu entered the room accompanied by Seiya. Everyone turned their attention to the duo.
"How are you feeling?" Galaxia asked Seiya as he sat down to join the conversation.
"I'm okay," Seiya said. He redirected the conversation to focus on their biggest challenge, "it seems that Chaos does not have complete control. I almost feel like she is trying to help us since she eliminated the strongest animate."
"I agree," Mamoru said. "I'm glad Sailor Mnemosyne will no longer be an issue for us anymore as well. But I'm worried how much longer Usako will be able to hold Chaos back. It seemed like Chaos was in control today more than in the past."
"As long as Chaos does not have complete control we still have a chance," Princess Kakyuu said with a small smile. "We still have hope. We must find a way to draw Sailor Moon back out into the light."
Minako was still questioning her decision about whether to partake in the ritual but felt relief now that she was in the hot springs. She had forgotten how soothing the water felt against her skin. She knew she couldn't stay in much longer and needed to continue on her journey. She slowly began to stand up and her foot brushed against an object at the bottom on the pool. She held her breath and went under the water for a moment. After a moment she reappeared on the surface of the water holding chain attached to a small orange crystal.
More senshi are finding the missing source for their new eternal powers. I will not be describing each outfit since they are essentially their eternal forms accept for the tiaras. I thought it was only fitting for them to lose their tiaras as well. The battle against Sailor Cosmos is going to heat up on May 4th! Act 14: Four Planets Lose Their Light
