The space station loomed in the infinite darkness, a gleaming beacon of humanity's tireless quest for knowledge. It's sleek, metallic exterior braved the harsh void of space, orbiting Earth like a sentinel guarding it's celestial charge. Within its walls, a dedicated group of astronomers and scientists pursued their studies, their eyes ever turned to the heavens.
In the observation chamber, a team of astronomers huddled around the sophisticated array of monitors and holographic displays. The hum of advanced technology filled the air, mingling with distant hum of the station's engines. Dr Amelia Malcovich, a seasoned astronomer with keen eyes and a quick mind, stood at the forefront of the group, her gaze fixed on the data streaming across the screens.
Something was amiss.
Her brow furrowed, and a sense of urgency gripped her heart. The celestial panorama before her displayed the familiar constellations and distant galaxies, but there was an anomaly – a rapidly moving blip speeding through the cosmos with a trajectory that led it straight to Earth.
Her eyes widened, and she turned to her colleagues, her voice filled with concern. "You guys, look at this" she gestured to the screen.
Her colleagues leaned closer, their eyes widening as they beheld the anomaly. A sense of foreboding settled over them.
"What do you think it is?" asked one of the astronomers.
"Don't know" said another "Whatever it is, it's fast."
"Run simulations, chart its trajectory, and calculate its ETA. If that things heading towards Earth, we need to know how long."
Nervous energy permeated the chamber as they sprang into action . Fingers danced across keyboards, holographic models shifted and transformed, and algorithms whirred to life, attempting to make sense of the blip moving across the screen.
"two hours," said one of the astronomers "somewhere over Brazil."
"What do we do?" Asked another.
"We need to warn Earth." replied Dr Malcovich. "Someone contact the Justice League Watch Tower."
Superman and Green Lantern hovered outside the Earth's atmosphere, their eyes fixed on the fast expanse of space before them, The brilliant glow of the sun bathed their forms, lending an otherworldly aura to their presence. The Man of Steel and the Emerald Knight, had both been sent by the Justice League as defenders against an unknown entity.
A hum of anticipation filled the synthetic air in the green bubbled conjured up by the Green Lantern. Though both had abilities that allowed them to survive in the emptiness of space, the two needed a medium for their voices to travel through.
The two were engaged in a friendly conversation as they awaited the unknown object hurtling towards the planet.
"How's the kid?" asked Hal.
"The kid's fine" replied the Man of Steel "He's learning to use his powers. A little too reckless though."
"I would be too. He thinking of dawning the suit?"
"God I hope not" Superman chuckled "At least not anytime soon. How about you? How's Carol."
"She's good... We're working things out."
"Hold up a sec." Clark raised a hand. "Sorry about that. I can see him."
"Him? No ship?"
"Yeah. A Red Lantern. Humanoid."
The Green Lantern, eyes narrowing with suspicion, crossed his arms over his chest. "A Red Lantern, I wonder what business he has coming to Earth."
"We don't know what he wants. Promise me you'll stay calm." Superman's voice carried a measured tone, his eyes reflecting a mixture of resolve and and understanding.
"Whatever this is, it can't be good. Attrocitus has been waging war against all Lantern Corps across the Galaxy." The Green Lantern raised a hand to his chin in thought.
The next few minutes was spent in silence as the two awaited for the Red Lantern to reach them.
Noticing the two Heroes, the Red Lantern decelerated, and came to a halt before them.
The first thing Hal noticed was the scars on the Red Lanterns face, then the lack of half an arm. He knew the description. The Red who had been rampaging across the galaxies doing the bidding of Attrocitus
The two league members exchanged a look, with a nod of agreement the two approached the guest of Earth, their forms exuding a sense of authority and strength. Superman's superhuman abilities granted him unmatched speed and power, while the Green Lantern's ring imbued him with the limitless potential of the emerald light. This gave the two confidence in their ability to handle any situation, should things get ugly.
The Green Lantern extended his bubble to encompass the visitor who could easily be mistaken for a human. Though the two detected no immediate hostility, their guard was up.
"We mean you no harm, we are here to understand your intentions. Can we communicate?" Asked Superman. Hall remained silent.
"You must be the Kryptonian" the visitor replied "and you must be one of the Green Lanterns of Earth."
"We're the Justice League." said Superman. "We protect Earth".
"That's great, because Earth is in danger. I hope I'm not too late"
"Too late for what?" Hal asked, his distrust not hidden.
"A threat from my world" the visitor looked towards the Earth. "Two organisms designed only for killing. My name is Gohan. I'm from Earth. A different Earth. It's a long story."
"We're listening" said Superman.
"There was this tear, in the fabric that separate universes. Somehow I came through it and ended up here."
"So you're human?" asked the Man of Steel.
"Half human. But that's beside the point. I didn't know this at the time, but when I came here, those monsters ended up here with me. We have to find them."
"These… Monsters, What do they look like?" asked Hal, suspecting that he already knew the answer.
"Like you and me. Ordinary people. One male, one female. One blonde, the other has black hair."
The two defenders of Earth exchanged a glance. They were unsure about how much information to give.
"I know who you are" said Hal, deciding to take a different approach. "The Red ring, that arm, it's a dead giveaway."
"I'm sure you've heard about me. But this has nothing to do with that. Your world is in danger. We have to find these things now."
"Those two are not what you think..." Superman tried to interject.
"The only danger here is you? I've seen the way you 'save' planets, the destruction you've wrought across the galaxy. Worlds left in ruins. I think we're good." Hal said
"I didn't come here to fight you or argue. I came here to help. These monsters..."
"We don't need your help" Hal interrupted "You sink into the depths of uncontrolled rage. Every now and then you liberate a planet from the Sinestro corps but not before leaving it in ruins. The last thing the Earth needs is your help. You're an errand boy for a madman."
"Hal stop" Superman said.
Gohan felt the rage begin to bubble up inside. "You have no idea what you're dealing." he replied, the weight of tragedy and loss beginning to manifest in his voice.
"These androids, destroyed my world, massacred everyone" the synthetic air began to feel heavy, "They were relentless, unstoppable. Cities crumbled, There was nothing I could do then, but now… I have the strength to stop them before they can do the same to your world. I have the power to make them pay for what they did. Help me find them and I will destroy them for you."
"Look" Superman began "These Androids aren't what you think they are. They're just kids who had a bad..."
"Androids?" Gohan interrupted.
a spark of electricity crackled inside the bubble.
"You already know of them?"
The two League members looked at each other and shifted their guard up a level.
"We do" said Superman.
"They're under our protection, and there's no way in hell we'd" Hal began before Gohan closed the distance and seized him by the neck, fingers digging deep into the vulnerable flesh. Hal desperately tried to pry his ironclad fingers from his throat.
"Your protection? Didn't you hear anything I just said?" Gohan asked as his face contorted with rage.
A giant green hammer swung down full force but was shattered as the Man of Steel caught it. The atmosphere inside the green bubble crackled with power as Superman held Gohans forearm in an iron grip.
"You're protecting these monsters, and you call yourselves the justice league?"
Superman's grip tightened, his fingers digging into Gohans forearm, feeling the sinewy muscles beneath his grasp. He had slowly been increasing his grip. Gohan held onto Green Lantern as he finished his thought. "Give them to me!"
Gohan eased his grip as Hal tried to speak.
"There's no way in hell you're touching a hair on those kids heads you Red Lapdog" Hal said through a strained throat. Rage driven, Gohan moved to squeeze the life out of the Emeral Knight..
With a shift in his stance, superman unleashed a surge of additional strength, his arm muscles bulging as he slowly increased his grip. This Red Lantern was definitely strong.
Gohan let go.
Superman released.
Hal grabbed his neck and began to cough.
"II think we got off on the wrong foot. If you'll just hear us out, we can explain" Superman started.
"I heard enough." Gohan said, trying his best to calm down.
The Red Lantern closed his eyes and let his senses travel to Earth, feeling the various energy levels on the planet, finally finding some calmness, at the realization that the Earth was teeming with life. He opened his eyes.
"Listen to me carefully." he began "I'll be back in two days for those Androids. You need to hand them over to me."
"Or what?" Hal retorted.
Gohan smirked.
"I will take them from you either way."
The Red Lantern turned his back and headed into the vastness of space.
