Snippets of Forever:
So Not... Flippin' The Script.
-x-
Kim hated to admit it - but earlier that night when Ron had referred to Yori as 'my favourite ninja', it sort of made her stomach squirm.
Despite the teen hero being a technical master in more styles of Kung Fu than most even knew existed, it didn't exactly make her a ninja. But over Kim's dead body did any other girl have any right at all to be Ron's favourite anything, especially not a girl as beautiful as Yori who he had admitted to crushing on in the past.
As it turned out, though, her jealous thoughts didn't actually last all that long.
Kim's mind instantly screeched into silent nothingness with the force in which Ron desperately grabbed onto her waist and pressed his mouth to hers in an adoring, grateful, passionate kiss.
Kim's head was spinning as she kissed her boyfriend back just as fiercely. Her limbs still felt stiff from being frozen in stone, but she gripped onto his shoulders as tightly as she could and simply revelled in every sensation of him. It was the same feeling that had flashed ever so fleetingly through her brain the second before she had fallen under the Yono's evil spell.
Before this last notion could truly take a hold of either of them, their moment of being reunited was suddenly interrupted by Hana as she happily jumped in between her brother and his girlfriend.
"Oh, way to go, Han!" Ron exclaimed, "You totally saved the day!"
Kim's brain was still whirling, but she shrugged off the heavy emotions as best she could and took one arm away from Ron to wrap it around Hana.
"And she couldn't have done it without her flippy-lovin' big brother!"
For the first time since the epic conclusion to their battle, Kim and Ron truly locked their expressions with one another. The redhead felt her heart skip a longing beat at the deep sense of relief swimming in the brown pools of her boyfriend's eyes.
There was a million other things he was trying to tell her with just one glance, but Kim couldn't quite grasp it all. She couldn't even recall everything that had happened up until the moment when she had been caught in the Yono's firing line. All she could remember was the short monkey warrior, both Rufus and Master Sensei getting zapped before her, and...
Kim stopped then, eyes wide as she and Ron spun around to dash out of the crumbling temple.
"Um, where's Monkey Fist?"
It was sometime later. The teen heroes were finally on their way back home, nestled together in an emotionally exhausted quiet. And Ron was holding onto Kim's hand - so tightly.
Kim glanced down to where he had a hold of her, staring for a split second before she glanced back up to look straight ahead. A long sigh echoed from the pit of her lungs, but the sound was drowned out by the loud roar of the engine that propelled them through the sky from Asia back to North America.
Wade had arranged for Kim, Ron, Hana and Rufus to jump on a ride with an air carrier heading to the U.S. and the tight-knit team were sitting in one of only two rows of seats usually occupied by the plane's operational crew. Apart from that, the back end of the aircraft was loaded with dozens of tall, wooden crates filled with cargo. The plane had been travelling along at cruising altitude for some time now, and Hana was sleeping peacefully in her seat with Rufus snoozing away just as quietly atop her little tummy.
When her fingers were finally starting to turn numb, Kim looked back to Ron, frowning at the anxiety she could see still brewing behind his eyes.
"Everything okay?" she asked softly.
Ron blinked just once, looking down at Kim and mirroring her confused frown.
"With me?"
"Yes, with you," she repeated, "Ron, what is it?"
His only response was further silence. Kim swayed gently into his side, taking her opposite hand to his chin and tilting his head up to meet her again.
"Ron?"
Her touch almost made him jump. Ron moved quickly then, turning his face away from Kim's and letting go of her as he came to his feet.
"Sorry, can I just - " he started, stopping with an uncertain stutter, "I just, like, need a sec."
Without saying another word, Ron darted up from his seat and marched down to the back of the plane, slipping in between two of the cargo crates. Kim looked on, despondent as she watched him leave.
There was no way she could let him feel whatever he was feeling without her support, despite his insistence on having even a few moments alone. Taking a protective glance down at Hana and sweeping the longer of her black locks out of her sleepy eyes, Kim immediately stood upright and followed after Ron.
The humming of the aeroplane engine was loud, but Kim swore she could almost hear the thoughts drumming in the back of Ron's mind when she approached him. While she couldn't be certain what exactly Ron was dwelling on from the unexpected trauma of their mission, she did know that whatever it was had to be absolutely consuming him at this point.
She tiptoed over to him, halting on the spot and spinning to face him. Ron was leaning up against the largest of the wooden crates, and Kim followed suit, backing into the opposite container.
She took in a long, deep breath.
"I know everything that happened back at Yamanouchi was totally bogus - "
"Bogus?" Ron said, managing a quiet chuckle, "Uh, yeah, that's one word for it."
"Okay, so maybe I'm underselling it," Kim conceded, echoing a small laugh of her own, "But you don't have to undersell your emotions. I know it was scary, Ron, and you're allowed to feel that, but Rufus and Sensei and me - we're all okay now. We're okay because of you and Hana."
"I know," Ron agreed, sort of sharply, "I know all that. It's just, kinda', way too much to try and take in right now."
"What do you mean? What's too much?"
"All of it, Kim," he sniped again, "Yamanouchi, and the Yono, and Hana having these powers, and Monkey Fist..."
He trailed off, running a hand back through his blonde hair before he went on, "Monkey Fist. I know you and me sorta' have a lot of enemies, but Monkey Fist was always, like, my worst enemy."
"Yeah, okay, but being down a worst enemy isn't exactly the most awful thing in the world - "
"Not the point I'm getting at here."
"Then what is it?"
"It's that he wasn't ever going to stop until he took everything away from me! And tonight he almost did," Ron snapped, desperately rambling on, "Yamanouchi has been like a second home to me, and he was going to take it away, and all of the people there who I care about, and my own mystical monkey mojo, and Rufus, and my baby sister, and..."
A shiver shot up Kim's spine when Ron's eyes locked onto hers.
She swallowed back a small chunk of nerves when the realisation hit her. The haunted look resting in Ron's expression made goosebumps pop up over her skin. And the last word that he didn't quite have the courage to speak ultimately told Kim all she needed to know.
Reaching out for his hand again, Kim squeezed with a calming shake of her head. Ron had always been much more emotional than her - but like Kim had said, they were all okay now. She was okay. Surely that was all that mattered.
"Can't get rid of me that easily."
Almost immediately, Ron scoffed at Kim's attempt at a light joke.
"You turned to stone and he pushed you off the roof of a forty-foot temple, Kim," he reminded her harshly, "For a second I thought you were going to smash into a bajillion bits of rubble."
The reality of it all stung in Kim's chest when she finally dropped the half-hearted comedy act and her bottom lip fell open. Here she thought Ron had been shaken by their latest mission in its entirety... but as it turned out, there might have been one particular event more key than all others that was currently rattling him to his core.
From where they were cramped between the huge wooden crates of cargo, Kim affectionately gazed up at Ron.
"But you didn't let that happen."
"Hana didn't let it - "
" - It was both of you. You know she never could have harnessed her powers without you."
"I don't even want her to have these crazy powers. She is the last person in the whole world I want to have any powers."
"But why?"
"Because, it obviously puts a huge target on her back! And if something like tonight ever happens again and I can't protect you both, I - "
When he brought his own words to an abrupt halt, Ron sighed, hesitating. His hand dropped away from Kim's, and he crossed his arms over his stomach instead, twiddling his thumbs.
"If something like this happens again, and I have to choose, I, just..." he repeated, slowly, "I just don't know if I can. Han is literally the only person on the planet I would ever consider choosing over you."
Kim was speechless. Her heart was racing in her chest as she licked her bottom lip.
"On the planet?"
"Well, 'sha, I'd choose you over anybody."
"Even yourself?"
The silence between them was deafening as Ron frowned, staring right through Kim. Finally, he shrugged his shoulders with a small chuckle of soft irony.
"In a freakin' heartbeat."
The sincerity in his brown eyes warmed her soul in a way that Kim didn't even know was possible. Her world seemed frozen under his gaze, but at the exact same time, Kim felt herself being transported back to the moment where she had been freed from the Yono's curse of stone and Ron had wrapped her in his embrace.
The kiss they had shared then and the words he was speaking to her now suddenly all made sense, and Kim found herself drowning in the strongest empathy for all of his panic that she previously hadn't understood. She had never felt more adored in her entire life.
Her eyes had impulsively found her feet, and when she released a timid breath from her core, Kim glanced back up at Ron.
"Ron - "
And suddenly, he was right there.
Before she could even bring life to her next thoughts, Ron took his hands to Kim's waist and plummeted his lips against hers. Kim didn't stop to think when she pressed herself into him and instantly kissed Ron back.
She could feel the profound sigh of relief that he breathed out through his nose as he opened his mouth to hers and commanded entry. She granted him access without question, clawing one hand to the fabric of his black shirt and the other to the back of his neck.
Their lips came together again and again, and Kim shuddered in delight when she felt Ron's tongue brush against her own. His gloved hand fell to her hip and he clutched tightly at the skin under her purple shirt. The moment was intense, and it was near enough sucking every last breath out of Kim when she finally had to pull back for air.
The two stayed close, their foreheads touching and their eyes closed as they panted in unexpected exhaustion. Kim dared to peak her eyes back open, staring up at her boyfriend under the hood of her long eyelashes. Ron met his vision with her own as they skidded into a hesitant quiet.
But as they instantly read each other's mind - Kim whispered Ron's name under her breath and sprung towards him.
Ron caught Kim in his arms, his hands slipping seductively around the curve of her backside as her legs tangled themselves around his waist. She grunted out loud when he took a step to back her into the large crate, pinning her body against the wood and kissing her all over again.
Ron's actions erred on the side of desperate and heated and sloppy as he fought to quell the terror that had previously consumed him and reassure himself that Kim was here, and she was okay, and she was all his. Kim held onto Ron just as fiercely, and she gasped with a high pitch when she felt his teeth nibble their way down her neck and sink into her skin, leaving behind what she imagined to be the smallest possible mark of reds and purples.
The noise that left her was all-too encouraging for Ron. Her legs were still coiled around him, and with only the shortest second of indecision, he moved in an upward motion to thrust his hips into hers. Kim smirked into his kiss, murmuring slightly as each movement was much firmer than the last. She tried her best to mimic him, but it was difficult to move when her body was trapped by his own. Instead, the redhead bit down on her bottom lip and simply surrendered herself to the sensation of the ever-growing lump in her boyfriend's pants rubbing against her.
"Ron..." she whispered with a fast breath, "Pants..."
"Hurting?"
"Mm-mm, no," she muttered, shaking her head, "Lose them."
Her command was sharp in his ear and Ron nearly crumbled at the contact from Kim when her hand flew down to latch itself around the buckle of his belt, pulling off her gloves at the same time. Nothing about their latest encounter had been slow so far - it was passionate and sudden and needing, and Kim had every lustful intention of keeping that going when she slid her hand into Ron's pants and grabbed onto his erection.
The teenage boy groaned in pleasant surprise and melted at the caress of his girlfriend when she began to pump up and down his length. His knees were starting to shake, from both the sensation of Kim's touch, but also from the weight of holding her off the ground for so long. But Ron was determined and persistent, and as he pressed another intrusive kiss to her mouth, he ripped his thick, black gloves from his hands and reached for the fly of her own pants. She was quick to join him, and together they worked to expose just the right amount of necessary skin.
Kim squeaked under her breath, her thoughts clouded and her heart racing in anticipation at the thought of Ron plunging up and into her. His hands roamed over every single one of her soft curves, kneading her skin between his fingers when her panties somehow slipped down in their awkward position.
The tip of his cock pressed into her abdomen, way down past her belly button. And then the plane began to violently shake with a bout of turbulence.
The teen heroes both gasped, their eyes widening in shock as Ron tried his best to keep Kim in his arms. The aircraft was rattling and rumbling as it harshly rolled through the sky. One of Kim's legs dropped back to the floor, and she cringed with a murmur at the slightly painful change in position. Ron cursed below the loud noises of the plane, stopping to ask if she was okay. But before she could answer, they both jumped at the familiar sound of a wailing cry back towards the main cabin.
Kim and Ron stopped to stare at each other, and then snapped their necks around as they spoke in unison.
"Hana!"
Ron dropped Kim's second leg, but despite their impulse to run and check on the distressed baby girl, the young couple were frozen, facing one another again.
The aeroplane finally settled back in its place in sky as the sudden turbulence came to an end. Quickly realising the position they were still in, Ron abruptly stepped backwards, adjusting himself back into his underwear and fumbling over his fly.
"Um..."
Kim's expression was just as red with embarrassment as her boyfriend's was when she fixed her own clothes, "I've got her," she spoke, clearly flustered, "I can check on her."
Ron nodded his head, reaching out to touch Kim on the arm, "Okay, but, are you - "
"It's fine."
And then as suddenly as the heat of the moment had snuck up on them, Kim swiftly twisted her body out of Ron's grip, disappearing around the corner and away from the stacks of crates to check on Hana.
Ron stood with his shoulders slumped, trying to process exactly what the heck had just happened. He squeezed his eyes shut, running a hand down his face with an aggravated groan. As his heart rate slowed back to normal and his flow of blood fled his centre to return to the rest of his body, the teenage boy kicked the wooden box with all the angry disappointment he was feeling and collapsed down to the floor to sit against it.
With his knees to his chest and his head in his lap, Ron sensed the smut-filled haze that had moments ago been clouding his thoughts and his judgment finally dissipate.
Ron had just come too agonisingly close to rushing into having sex with Kim.
What the hell was he thinking?
As he blew out a long sigh and tried for even a second to not be so mad with himself, Ron climbed back to his feet and went off in search of his girlfriend and sister.
Kim, meanwhile, had gotten to Hana just in time and was now working on rocking the sweet, little girl back to sleep. She focused all of her attention on the black-haired bundle in her arms, attempting to wrap her head around what did - or didn't - almost just happen with Ron.
She cringed a little, but hastily shook her head, trying to ease out the unnecessary feelings of humiliation. So, they might have almost gone just a step too far. It wasn't like Kim didn't want it. Did she? Maybe she didn't exactly know for sure - but one thing she did know was that she wouldn't have ever regretted any quote-unquote 'mistake' she may or may not have made that night, as long as it was all with Ron.
She only hoped that he felt the same way. And that he didn't say anything that would tell her otherwise.
Just as she shot a smile down at Rufus where he was now awake and patting Hana's head, Kim looked back up at the sound of Ron re-joining them.
The blonde boy shuffled along the floor of the aircraft, keeping his balance as best he could. He stopped short of where Kim was sitting, falling to an awkward silence as he scrunched his gloves up into a ball and shoved them in his pocket.
"She okay?"
Kim nodded in response, "Just a little spooked from the turbulence."
The relief that filled him was instant, but it still didn't quite overpower the nerves that coursed through his veins.
Ron cleared his throat.
"Look, about back there, I'm, um... I'm sorry."
Kim's heart skipped a beat. An apology. An expression of... regret?
She closed her eyes for a second, huffing out a considered sigh.
"Why would you be sorry about that?"
Ron's cheeks paled when he immediately read the subtext in Kim's sharp question.
"Oh, no. No, no, I don't mean sorry about what almost happened," he spoke in a panic, finally taking his place in the seat beside her, "I just mean sorry about the when and the where."
Kim narrowed her eyes, still uncertain, but coaxing Ron to go on. He wanted to open his mouth to speak again, but was suddenly mesmerized by the image of Kim bouncing Hana to sleep in her lap. It made his heart melt and an intense wave of affection washed over him, telling him that he needed to be very careful about how he phrased his next words.
"I know how much our first time means to you. It means a lot to me, too, it's super important to me. And I want it to be, like, I dunno'... special," he spoke sweetly, "I don't know about you, but thirty-five thousand feet in the air cramped in the back of a cargo plane after another totally gorchy monkey mission is not exactly the way I want to lose my virginity."
He punctuated the final word with an awkward kind of chuckle, hoping he wasn't pushing his luck. But, of course, Kim could only smile.
"Okay, I might be inclined to agree with you," she admitted softly.
Ron returned her grin, daring to place an adoring hand on her knee, "And, li-like, I know it's not going to be completely perfect, and I don't even want it to be totally perfect, but I do want it to be as perfect as it can be for you, because you deserve the most perfect, romantic, amazing - "
"Are you trying to sweet talk me back into it?"
As she cut off her boyfriend's ramblings with a teasing raise of her eyebrow, Rufus coughed and sputtered in disgust as he crossed in arms in front of his tiny body. Ron sensed the faintest tinge of a red blush creep back into his face, "Um, no?"
"Kidding, Ron."
"Oh, y-yeah, I knew that," he stammered. The atmosphere surrounding them was certainly a level or two more mild than it had been less than five minutes ago. It almost felt like the whole intense moment had been an out-of-body experience. Sure, Ron knew he that he was crazy attracted to Kim (because, hello?), but the lack of self-control that had overtaken him in such a carnal manner once she was in his arms was kind of intimidating.
It wasn't totally undefinable, though. Ron realised exactly why he had reacted that way. It was because he had been so sickeningly terrified of losing her.
"But I still kinda' feel, like," he said, stopping himself short of apologising again, "I mean, I know it all happened super quickly, but I don't want it to be that way. I don't ever want to pile on the pressure with these things and make you rush to do anything you don't - "
"Whoa, hold the phone, what is up with all the harshing on yourself?" Kim interjected again, placing her hand on top of Ron's, "Nothing about what we just did was a solo decision, for either of us, nothing ever has been. Building the site, going on missions, when we started dating. We made all those decisions together, and we always will, forever."
The tone of her promise was a weight off Ron's shoulders as Kim went on.
"You're not a manipulative, sex-obsessed jerk, Ron, I think I know you a bit better than that," she concluded firmly. Though in the next second, Kim's smirk turned up into something a little more suggestive, "Besides, there's a major diff between acting forceful and acting on desire. And I didn't say I didn't like it."
Ron felt his blood pressure spike in the most enticing way as he tried to resist the way Kim's touch lingered against his own, "Heh, oh, okay. Okay, great, so no pressure for next time..." he mumbled sarcastically, tugging on his collar. Kim scrunched up her nose at him as he ignored all her teasing and pressed on, remaining serious, "All's I'm trying to say is that I think I got a little lost in the heat of the moment. And I don't want to just forget about all those talks we've had."
His eyes had fallen down to his lap, but when he looked back up to find her doting gaze on him, Ron's chest sped up all over again. He couldn't even begin to imagine a world where that smile of Kim's didn't exist anymore.
"I'm just... so happy you're safe."
"I know. And ditto."
"And we're okay?"
"Of course we are," Kim exclaimed. She adjusted her hand in his so she could finally tug him towards her and into a much more innocent kiss. Ron smiled at the contact, and kept the same expression directed at his sister when Kim passed her to him.
The tiny ninja-in-training was back to sleeping soundly, and Ron hugged her close to him for a second before lying her across his lap. He was so caring and protective and gentle, and the thought of it all pulled at Kim's heartstrings. That was the Ron she knew so well and cared for so deeply.
But that wasn't to say that she wasn't even the teeniest bit excited to be properly reacquainted with his alter ego she had come nose-to-nose with between the cargo crates. Tonight certainly hadn't been the right time or the right place... though it all may have been a little closer than either of them thought.
"But, next time - so long as we take things a little slower, and maybe communicate a little better, and, ya' know, make sure we're in a bed and not in the back of a plane," she spoke with a giggle, "I guess whatever happens... happens."
Her head fell down to rest on his shoulder, and she wrapped her hug around his free arm, squeezing tightly.
Ron's stomach simply soared with the sensation of a million butterflies tumbling through him. He glanced down at his girlfriend's head of red hair and swallowed, hard.
The culmination of her near-demise, and their passionate encounter, and these last words from her had finally made something in Ron's brain click. It wasn't exactly an Earth-shattering realisation - not in the least, but it was one that he hadn't been brave enough to properly comprehend for himself until this very moment.
"Does that sound okay?"
Ron smiled. He was so in love with her.
"Totally okay."
When I telllll you that three years ago in August 2019 when I first published this story and already had this chapter planned out in my head, and it feels so good to finally write it... wow :)
Hello friends! I hope you enjoyed reading this snippet as much as I enjoyed writing it. It's been a long time coming, and that goes for what I have planned next up as well, FYI ;) Yono if definitely one of my fave episodes of S4, and Ron's comment about being scared of Kim shattering when Monkey Fist pushed her off the roof is coming from my personal experience of seeing that ep for the first time, by the way!
I would love to hear what you all thought here, and I cannot waitttt to come back again with my next update soon :)
Hope you are all keeping happy, healthy, and safe x
