Chapter 539 Ancient Magic
The power of the ancient sorcerers was truly extremely strong. Among other things, that powerful sealing magic carved on the wall of the ruins stood as proof of it.
Achieving a similar effect today would be quite a miracle.
In this realm of absolute magical prohibition, any spell would lose its function. Not even the power of the wicked god could be utilised whatsoever.
With such a temple to isolate it from the outside world, there was no way to affect other creatures.
Before the Noumenon arrived, the wicked god couldn't invade minds and spirits, which meant it had lost its only means of attack.
While this held the wicked gods in check, the mechanism outside the ruins and the Mantícora could also block all outsiders.
The ancient sorcerers who built the Temple originally designed it very well, with the intention of forever sealing the statue of the wicked god.
Unfortunately, they probably didn't foresee that a thousand years later, the surrounding environment would undergo such massive changes.
All the ancient wizards who were once strong and powerful became history and disappeared with the evolution of human civilization.
This area had also transformed into a vast swamp, and the entire site had sunk into the depths of the earth. Many places were destroyed as the building sank and naturally weathered. The powerful sealing magic originally engraved on the wall cracked and gradually lost its original function. The potent energy now pervading the chamber was perhaps less than a tenth of what it was at its peak.
The power of the wicked god returned once more, and its statue was brought back by Okegiga to the Centaurs' colony.
All that remained was this temple, silently submerged in the depths of the swamp, along with the senseless caretaker.
Evan's fingers gently slid over the marble, and he could clearly feel the vicissitudes of history after the impressive power represented by the ancient magical words and symbols on the wall.
He walked forward for over ten minutes and did not traverse the entire length of the hallway.
The space within this relic was unimaginable, and it could take several hours to walk from one end to the other.
There was not enough time left as agreed upon by Evan and Caresius, and he couldn't proceed further.
He had planned to record the ancient magic inscriptions carved on the wall and all magical symbols to study them carefully later. Now, it seemed he would have to find time to return again.
He decided to head towards the center, take a look at where the statue of the wicked god was found, and then return.
This exploration allowed him to witness the power of the ancient sorcerers, a force beyond what was known with modern magic.
The more he came into contact with it, the more he realized how insignificant his knowledge of magic was.
It is worth noting that when he first entered school, like other young wizards, he was thrilled for half a day if he successfully cast a spell.
He once thought that the power of Dumbledore and Voldemort was the limit that wizards could achieve.
Later, as he studied magical documents and came into contact with artifacts and magical powers left by the Four Founders and other ancient wizards, Evan gradually realized that the power that once seemed so strong to him might be only the beginning.
As he saw the power of the wicked gods and the ancient sorcerers, a completely new door opened before him.
There were still many mysteries in the world of magic that he didn't understand. There was much knowledge he needed to acquire.
With wonder, Evan crossed the cloister and entered the lush garden.
All the plants in it were unknown to him and, with a touch of magic, they seemed unique.
Looking at a column of purple oaks, he couldn't help but wonder if, like the huge dome plants outside, the surrounding plants had actually been transformed by the magic filling the space, making them so strange.
Climbing plants surrounded the entire garden and took it as a center, spreading upwards.
In the fluorescent orange setting, as he observed the grotesque plants around him, Evan felt as if he were on a strange planet.
He walked forward for a long time until he saw a square stone platform.
The surrounding ground was surrounded by huge and bright rocks, engraved with sophisticated magical symbols.
The stone platform itself was tightly entwined with green plants, concealing its original appearance.
Evan remembered that Okegiga once said that when he discovered the statue of the evil god, it was entangled on a square stone platform with a large number of withered plants.
This should be the place, but without the corrosive power of the evil god, the surrounding plants had come back to life.
This was the heart of the entire reliquary, the place with the greatest magical force in the chamber.
Evan carefully surveyed the surroundings and found nothing different except that the strange magic was unusually rich.
He moved closer and closer, with a strange feeling that something seemed to be drawing him toward the stone platform.
He used all his strength to remove a protected vine and saw an irregular circular cleft in the center of the stone platform.
Originally used to place the statue of the evil god, complex lines of dark golden magic extended around it.
Following these lines, Evan continued pulling away the vines that covered them. He then realized that the magical lines on the stone platform intertwined to form two ancient magical inscriptions.
Evan recognized these two words, which meant "silence".
They certainly appeared in Nicolas Flamel's Pictographic Dictionary.
"Silence!" Evan repeated it with the pronunciation of the ancient magical script. What was the meaning of these two words?
Perhaps it was the name of this powerful magic in the ruins chamber.
His voice had just finished, and The Book of Abraham, which was in his pocket, suddenly flew out on its own!
It glowed with white light, hovering in front of Evan, and its pages quickly flipped through.
Evan was taken aback to see the ancient book in front of him. The last time this happened was in the illusion of the malevolent deity.
At that moment, the book also suddenly flew out, sealing the hideous malevolent spirit at a critical juncture.
What was happening this time?
The Book of Abraham swiftly flipped through the first two parts and paused briefly on the cover of the third part.
There was a mass of ink on it, revealing only the foot of the ancient malevolent god.
Soon, the pages turned back a few pages more and halted immediately.
On the originally blank pages, texts emitting a blue light quickly appeared.
At the top were the two ancient magical words "Silence" that Evan saw on the stone platform. Below were incomprehensible magical symbols and ancient magical characters engraved on the walls of the ruins. Under the influence of an invisible force, they were rapidly transcribed.
Evan felt the entire rest of the room converging here.
He looked up and saw the light shining on the walls around him, whose contents floated in a clear blue mist. With his own location as the core, this light and mist quickly merged to form a huge vortex.
They spun and eventually merged into the Book of Abraham to form the words recorded in it.
Before Evan could grasp what was happening, he heard a faint click on the stone platform.
These dreamy mists suddenly vanished, and the Book of Abraham fell to the ground.
What had occurred? Was everything recorded?
Evan hastily picked up the Book of Abraham, but he could only find a third of it!
