Chapter 638 Learning The Apparition

"I should have thought about it. Dumbledore didn't allow this woman into Hogwarts, but she could still be in the school, listening to so much news, alone..." Hermione said, her voice trembling slightly, and looked at Evan.

"Just what?!" asked Harry, still not comprehending what was going on.

"Harry, Rita Skeeter is an animagus, she can transform into a beetle," said Hermione, her breath quickening. "It must be illegal; there have only been seven registered animagi in the 20th century!"

"You're kidding!" Harry couldn't believe it, staring at the glass jar on the table.

"Hermione is right, she is an illegal animagus," said Evan, vigorously shaking the glass jar, "Rita Skeeter has been flying around since the beginning of the year, gathering material to create a big scandal, relying on not being seen by others."

As Evan shook the glass jar, the beetle inside swung violently. Rita was thrown from one side to another, hitting hard against the glass wall and falling.

The beetle buzzed angrily through the glass and wanted to return to its original form, but the magic in the bottle prevented it.

"What should we do with her now, Evan?" Hermione asked, closely observing the beetle in the bottle.

"I'll entrust you with this jar. Please, keep her safe for a while," said Evan. "If she is not honest, shake the jar vigorously and teach her a lesson to see if she can stop defaming and insulting people."

"No problem, leave it to me," said Hermione calmly, storing the jar in her backpack.

She was concerned about not acting in the best way, but when she thought about Rita Skeeter's behavior and what she had done, she felt that it was really necessary to do something.

That was the lesson Rita Skeeter deserved, so she wouldn't dare to invent defamatory articles about other people's reputations in the future.

Then, the topic shifted from Rita Skeeter to animagi, and Hermione wished to learn this magic. Not to mention Harry, who was jealous of Evan after seeing him transform into the Leaky Cauldron.

Being an animagus is a very advanced form of Transfiguration that allows a wizard to transform into some type of animal.

Animagi can only assume the form of a specific animal. This animal form is not chosen by the wizard, but determined by their personality and internal traits.

Unlike the Patronus that can change, each wizard's animagus will retain the same form throughout their life.

The process of the first transformation is very dangerous and likely to result in disaster. Therefore, the Ministry of Magic strictly controls animagi and requires them to be registered in the Improper Use of Magic Office of the Ministry, along with their animal forms and distinguishing marks.

Whether Harry's father, James, Sirius, Peter Pettigrew, or Evan and Rita Skeeter, all of them were illegal animagi, unregistered with the Ministry of Magic, and could do many things with their animagus at will.

They didn't have to worry about being discovered in their transformed state. This spell was very practical for detecting, hiding, escaping, and reducing the influence of Dementors.

Learning to be an animagus not only requires the necessary knowledge of Transfiguration but also a lot of supporting magic for the first transformation.

Magic was the most challenging obstacle, but for Evan, it had been resolved with the help of the Philosopher's Stone.

With the assistance of Tom Riddle's diary in his first year, Evan also studied the theory of corresponding knowledge clearly.

Helping Harry and Hermione master being an animagus was technically not a problem at all.

Evan took out his research notes and let them familiarize themselves with the spell's principles. Once they mastered them all, he assisted them with their first transformation.

He could also consult Sirius, who had a lot of unique experience in animagus transformation.

With Hermione's learning speed, Evan predicted that by this summer vacation, she would be able to complete the animagus transformation.

Harry might need more time. He had a poor foundation in Transfiguration and would probably have to wait until the next summer vacation to master it.

More than twenty minutes later, when Evan, Harry, and Hermione reached the Shrieking Shack, Sirius was already there!

He looked more tired and dusty than they had seen him before, as if he had just come from a battlefield.

An Auror did not possess the glamour that outsiders imagined, with a great deal of danger and a workload beyond imagination.

"Evans, we'd better hurry. There's much practice to be done," Sirius said gently. "Though you are very skilled, there is no way to hone your abilities and practice Apparition and Disapparition at Hogwarts. I must ensure you have enough skill to pass the test. Otherwise, I won't allow you to use this spell."

Sirius assisted Evans in manipulating the Ministry of Magic tests so that he could use the spell without being of legal age yet and without fear of being monitored by the Ministry. However, he needed to ensure that Evan had the capability to Apparate.

Noting his serious expression, Evan nodded and drew his wand.

Apparition was highly dangerous as it involved bending space.

If he did not master the spell, he would not use it successfully and would be courting death.

Harry and Hermione sat on the steps opposite the Howler and watched Evan and Sirius practice.

"They should have reviewed the key points of Apparition, but I would like to reiterate... Harry and Hermione, please remember this carefully as well!" With a wave of his wand, an ancient-looking wooden hoop appeared on the ground. "The most crucial thing to remember when Apparating are the three Ds. Let's start with Disapparition. Now, please concentrate on the wooden hoop."

Evan gazed at the circular patch of dusty ground bounded by his hoop and concentrated.

The ability to move instantaneously, known as teletransportation, was evident in battle. It allowed the sorcerer to vanish from his position in an instant and reappear elsewhere. Compared to Apparition, teleportation was more immediate and could only be performed within one's line of sight.

Although the magical consumption was relatively low, it demanded precise control of magic and swift reflexes. Similar to Silent Casting, it was an extremely advanced combat skill.

It was easy to comprehend but exceedingly challenging to employ in an actual duel. Many wizards could master Apparition well, yet faltered in using Teleportation in combat.

In a tense battle, a slight distraction could render one vulnerable to the opponent's magic.

It was indisputable that mastering the teleportation spell was immensely beneficial for the wizard. In battle, they wouldn't need to rely clumsily on their physical agility to evade.

With this spell, they could also devise numerous unforeseen tactics.
