Greetings to all! I have returned after several commitments and after a few days of vacation. Here ReaderandWriter9000 with a new chapter of this great story. We have begun a beautiful stage in history where the two most adorable guppies of the group have become engaged to be married. However, they will have to deal with certain situations to reach that beautiful moment.

Today we begin a very interesting little arc. For now I can only tell you that we will explore a little the past of a guppy very dear to us. Without wasting any more time, let's delve into one more story.

Bubble Guppies Adult Years

Chapter 23: Tournament of Honor (Part 1)

There is good news at BubbleTucky. Finally, Oona and Nonny are engaged. That's right, they would be the next guppies to get married. Unlike the previous times, not even his relatives or the guppies had any idea about the proposal plan. That news was extremely surprising for both of them (even though it was obvious to some, it was still surprising because no one expected it at that precise moment). In addition, for this plan, the couple already thought that they wanted a more...private wedding. Both Oona and Nonny wanted their celebration to be special and wanted to choose only the people closest to them as guests at the ceremony. Well, it was better not to attract too much attention. So, it was evident that the planning was more finicky than others. Well, they wanted something simple, special and with the ideal people. With this context, we can relate an important event that occurred while the future couple was planning their special day.

It all started on a quiet morning. We can see an institute well known as "Big BubbleCity University", where several people study and do their best to become professionals in their chosen careers. This renowned institution has on its staff a very excellent professor for being relatively young. At that time, he was teaching one of his scheduled classes.

"...And for the specific case of this exercise, the result should be a logarithmic function together with another exponential function. And due to the properties of this particular exercise, we cannot simplify the result any further. And therefore, the result is this way. It is very complicated at the beginning, but after applying theorems and rules of mathematical logic we can reach a simpler result. This is only achieved if you study and practice regularly. These complicated exercises can only be mastered with practice…." It was Nonny, or rather, Professor Nonny! He was teaching a complex Calculus class. And it is surprising that, being a young teacher, he could explain intelligently and clearly to his students.

RIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!

"...Well, that's all for today's class. I remind you that there is an optional review class where I will be answering questions this weekend only in the morning. Don't forget to start practicing for the next test. Have a nice morning" Nonny said politely. He bid farewell to his students in a cordial manner. Many returned the gesture. Some girls said goodbye in a flirtatious way, but luckily Nonny always remained stoic as he always is. At that moment, a crab man with short black hair in a green uniform entered the room to greet his work colleague.

"Mr. Pirruccello, I finally found you" The man greeted him.

"My apologies, Mr. Wells. I was teaching my classes. You know that on Tuesdays I teach classes in the morning" Nonny answered quietly.

"Yes, I see that you attract a lot of attention among teachers and students. Literally at your age you should be taking classes, not teaching them. That would explain why some students girls try to flirt with you" The man laughed a bit.

"Ironic...In high school I was always the weird nerdy boy that no girl wanted...But in college, it seems like I caused some attraction...Hmmmm anyway, I only care about one woman" Nonny said thinking about his new fiancee.

"For someone so young, you're old school. That pleases me. Anyway, I just came to remind you that you need to present your thesis to the council soon. You know you have to convince them if you want to finally graduate as a paleontologist" Mr. Wells explained.

"Oh right, my thesis. I only need a few details to finally present my work: The Theory of Nonny" He replied.

"Oh yes, "Nonny's Theory of Genetic Variety and Prehistoric Biodiversity." I admit that your project is not bad, but you must present powerful arguments to defend your thesis before the council of the School of Paleontology. And you know well that they are not easy to convince" The professor warned him.

"I am very aware of this, Mr. Wells...I just have to inform the school that I will have to present the thesis later. In addition to the fact that it is a complex unfinished job, I must postpone the date due to...personal commitments" Nonny said that when he had the possible date of his wedding in his mind.

"I understand. Remember that you have the right to three postponements of dates. You've done one before and if you do this one, it would be two. Use those deferrals wisely" His professor reminded him.

"I know, I haven't forgotten... (sigh) Very well, for today I'm done with my day" The glasses-wearing guppy decided to take his things and left in a polite and courteous manner. In college, he was too formal (more than he is). Normally, he would have to work on academic reports if he was not teaching. But for that day, he took the rest of the day off to attend an important activity.

Meanwhile, we can see how another of our beloved guppies was working. In a special room we can see one of the guppies talking to someone else.

"...Don't know. I think I've always gotten used to abuse. For me it has always been something common and I never considered it bad" A snail woman said quietly.

"I see...Very good, Mrs. Gomez...I can see that you think your marriage is normal because of the experience you had with your parents. But you should know that what you are experiencing is called family violence. You have been used to the abuse you saw from your father towards your mother that now you think that what your husband does to you is normal. I can tell you that he is not. You are a special and valuable person. That is something you must learn and accept" It was Oona. Or rather: Doctor Oona Shaskan. She was giving therapy to one of her patients most in need.

"That is very difficult. I always thought it was normal. I always thought that I only served to serve my husband" Mrs. Gomez commented sadly.

"Of course not. You can also do many more things than just doing chores around the house. And your husband should not choose over your life. What I see is that your past torments you. And that's something you have to face. Maybe you can't change it, but you can improve your present for a better future. Do it for yourself, and also for your children. You can influence their future and if you want the best for them... You must start fixing many things little by little" Oona said quietly and with a comforting tone of voice.

"(sigh) Thanks, Miss Shaskan….Although I admit that I am afraid. If my husband finds out…" She said nervously.

"Don't worry. If you wish, I can also help you in case you decide to make a complaint...I know people who can help you...But only you should make that decision" The purple-haired guppy advised her.

"I'll think about it well. Thank you very much, Miss Oona. Your sessions have helped me a lot" Mrs. Gomez admitted.

"You´re welcome, Mrs. Gomez. I just do my job well. We can schedule the next appointment in a couple of weeks. Do not forget. It is always important to have someone you trust in these difficult times" Oona said with a smile.

"I will keep it in mind. Good bye!" The client said before she left her consulting room.

"See you soon!" The therapy session had ended and Oona began to organize her office before leaving. There she arrived at the reception where she spoke to someone.

"And good? How did it go with Mrs. Gomez this time?" A crab woman with green short hair asked her.

"You know what she is like, Ann. She is a kind woman, but she is afraid of making decisions and authority. I don't blame her, she's been through a lot. I hope I can help her more" Oona answered. Ann was the office secretary. She was in charge of helping Oona and other psychologists in administrative and reception matters.

"That's what you're here for. To help the people. You are one of the few psychologists I know who really cares about their patients" Ann flattered her..

"Hehe, thanks. For today I will end my shift early. There are no more patients today and besides, I already have plans with my fiancé... (giggle) It's still hard for me to accept that I'm already engaged" Oona said, preparing to leave the place.

"It's true! Congratulations, Oona. I hope you do well with that boy Nonny. Take care of yourself" The crab said kindly.

"You too. See you soon!"

After all this, we can assume that the engaged couple already had plans to meet somewhere together. But, what is it about? Well, it turns out that they both wanted to go to a different place. They decided to meet in a unique place. A cultural plaza where there were many restaurants serving traditional foods from different Asian cultures such as Indian, Chinese, Thai, Filipino, and of course Japanese cuisine, among many others. For this particular date, Oona and Nonny were not the only ones present. Surprisingly, Molly and Gil were there when they were on their date.

"Guys! What a surprise to see you here" Oona commented happily.

"I'm glad to see you both. Hey, I don't want to interrupt your date. I was just looking at the restaurants here to learn about Asian cultures. It is a topic that I must teach my students next week" Molly explained her reason for being in the same place.

"Don't worry. You didn't interrupt us at all" Nonny calmed her.

"It's a relief to hear that. Hey, I don't want to be nosy but...Have you guys started planning your wedding? Because we want to help, like you have done with my wedding and with Goby and Deema's" Molly asked them.

"Well, at the moment we don't have anything clear. We are just selecting possible dates, places, guests and we start saving. These events are usually expensive...and even if we want something simple" Oona explained.

"There is too much investment in weddings, whether small or large" Nonny added.

"Hey guys, have you noticed that there are more people here than usual?" Gil asked confusedly, because he noticed a lot of people together. As if all the people were focusing on something important.

"I don't think it's that important" Molly didn't give much importance to other people.

"I´m gonna check" The blue haired boy said curiously before he went to check what it was about.

"(sigh) Gilly, He is always so curious..." Molly rolled her eyes funnily.

"He's always been like that. Does it surprise you?" Oona asked with a small laugh.

"Furthermore, add that he developed a police instinct" Nonny commented too. It didn't take long for the hyperactive guppy to return with great news.

"GUYS! LOOK! LOOK!" The young turbocharged guppy showed them a poster about something that looked interesting.

"Hmmmm let's see...A martial arts tournament?" Nonny raised his eyebrow.

"And it's not just any martial arts tournament. Just look at the prize for the champion. A luxury trip to Japan with a hotel, hot springs and many other things included...Trip for a couple all paid!" Gil said excitedly. This surprised those present.

"That is! Oona, you should participate!" Molly commented with great excitement.

"M-M-Me?!" Oona asked surprisedly.

"Of course. Think about it, that all-paid trip as a couple would be perfect for your honeymoon. Look, you two helped me and Goby and Deema with our weddings. And you also gave resources. It's only fair that you have help of that kind. With this, you two only have to think about the wedding. Besides, Oona is the best fighter I know...I trust you could win the tournament" Molly explained her new plan. The purple haired girl thought about it again.

"Hmmm…I don´t know….I have only fought for self-defense and defense of my loved ones...Also, I…" Oona tried to say something more.

"Anyway, if you're not going to participate...Then I will. You trained me well and I think I can win the prize" Molly said confidently.

"Whoah….I didn't expect that from you" Gil was surprised a bit.

"What? You have to take advantage of the opportunity, right?" Molly smiled confidently.

"Mmm...If you're going to participate, then me too" Oona decided to join her.

"Girls, I don't want to ruin your moment, but...According to this poster, one of the requirements to participate in the tournament is to be part of a dojo or a martial arts academy...I don't think you are in one, or is it?" Nonny analyzed the information.

"Owww" Molly said sadly.

"Well, I guess it will be another time. Even if I had participated, I don't think I would have had a chance" Oona commented.

"Oona, Oona, my little cherry blossom...Even after the years, do you still distrust your potential?" The four guppies got a little worried when they heard that voice. For Molly and Gil, he was someone completely unknown. But for Oona, that person was important.

"Huh? No…U-U-Uncle Toki!?" She could recognize him immediately. He was a middle-aged adult guppy. He was bald and had a few wrinkles on his face. His eyes were similar to Oona's, both in shape and color. The thing about that guppy was the same colors and pattern as Oona's, but with darker tones. He owned a white yukata with purple cherry blossom petals.

"Uncle?!" Molly and Gil asked shocked.

"Oh….Hello, Toki-sensei…" Nonny greeted him respectfully, making a Japanese bow.

"Do you know him?" Gil asked Nonny.

"He is a close relative of Oona. Obviously I must know him" He answered him.

"Uncleeeee!" Oona hugged him tightly. At first glance, he seemed to be someone serious and emotionless. But he received his niece with great affection.

"Ohhh my beautiful Oona! A lot of time has passed. Tell me how are you? How is everything?" Toki asked her. The two of them talked for a few minutes to catch up. Shortly after, Molly and Gil found out that he is the famous uncle who taught Oona combat skills. Nonny already knew him, but not much because Toki didn't usually stay long when he visited. It was at that moment that Oona's curiosity brought up an important question.

"...It's not common to see you here. Any special occasion?" The niece asked innocently.

"Actually, yes. You all already know about the martial arts tournament, right? Well, that event is directed by the Martial Arts Academies Committee. And well, all the dojo leaders are included...Therefore, I am involved" Toki explained.

"Wow! Then you are a wise martial arts master! That's awesome!" Gil said excitedly.

"Yes, I run a dojo...And Oona was part of it" Oona´s uncle confirmed.

"W-W-WHAT?!" Molly and Gil were shocked. Even Nonny although he didn't say any word.

"That happened at the time when the Bubble Guppies separated after kindergarten...I was away from BubbleTucky for a while...Mom and I stayed with Uncle Toki...And well I trained in his dojo" Oona explained a bit without many details.

"That's how it is. I am the master of the Sakura Leaf dojo. We are a small but humble academy. Oona, do you remember Sakura Leaf's motto?" Toki asked her.

"(giggle) I could never forget it even if I wanted to" Oona approached her uncle and both made a gesture of reverence and respect before saying the motto.

"I will stand firm like the mountain

Even though the storm hits me

My peace of mind will dominate over aggression

Like the mountain immovable before the wind

Light as a petal, but strong as a warrior

Seek peace, not war

Exercise justice, not revenge

This is the path of the Sakura Leaf"

That sentence was said by Oona and her uncle at the same time. It was the sacred oath for the members of the Sakura Leaf dojo. This surprised the rest of the guppies present.

"Wow!" Gil said excitedly.

"So everything you know about fighting...you learned from him. Sir, I must say that your niece is very talented. She trained me at a time where I needed" Molly said to him.

"So my niece passed on her knowledge to you...Hehe, not bad. The only bad thing is that Oona did not finish her full training, unlike her brother Ichiro" Toki explained a bit.

"Oh really? Why?" Molly asked caused an awkward silence from everyone.

"Wait…..Did Oona never tell you why she didn't continue training?" He asked surprisedly. But before they could continue talking, Oona abruptly interrupted him.

"That's not important. There are more important things...for example, the tournament…" She decided to change the topic immediately. That confused everyone else. Although Oona's move turned out well because she managed to distract attention.

"But according to the tournament description, you cannot register unless you are part of an academy" Nonny reminded her.

"So that's the problem? Well I can help you with that. Do you two want to participate in the tournament? Because you could represent my dojo, since none of my students came here" Toki proposed to them. That sounded perfect. Thanks to the help of Oona's uncle, they would have no problems participating in the tournament. Molly is happy and accepts his offer. However, Oona thinks about it some more.

"Come on, Oona. It will be fun to become "sisters in arms." We will be in this together" Molly tried to convince her. Nonny decided to put his hand on his fiancée's shoulder.

"Hey, if you don't want to do it, no one will force you" Nonny calmed her. Anyway, our purple haired guppy gave a small smile and made her decision.

"Very good...I will participate with Molly...I think it would be a good idea to resume my skills a little" Oona decided confidently.

"I'm glad to hear that. Because tomorrow we must start training. The tournament will be in a month. The sooner we start, the better" Toki said happily about their decision. It seems that now Oona and Molly are going to have a mission together: Win the tournament!

Over the next few days, Oona and Molly began training together under the tutelage of Toki Shaskan, their new sensei. The teacher decided that they should train in an area far from the city to be closer to nature. At the beginning, the training was simple, as it was things that both girls already knew but it was necessary to resume the knowledge and practice. We can see that both were still talented as we remember. Despite that, Toki wasn't very impressed, but that didn't mean he wasn't happy to see both girls so talented. Molly was very thoughtful about her friend. Why didn't Oona complete her training if she wasn't far from finishing her training in the past? And when she wanted to bring up the subject, her friend was very evasive on the subject. What she knew is that Toki knew, but he respects his niece's secret. On the other hand, Oona felt slightly uncomfortable about training her combat skills just for a tournament. Normally, she only fought for self-defense or defense of her loved ones (since she has also fought in life or death situations). But those feelings were reduced since she trained with one of her best friends and also spent time with her maternal uncle. Toki was very kind even though his face seemed to be very serious. And for him to be their mentor, he was quite skilled in martial arts. For the last training session, Molly and Oona were wearing their training clothes in front of Toki.

"You two are quite skilled. The improvement is noticeable and I think you are ready for the tournament. However, I want to see what you guys are capable of in the final test. To start, you two must face each other. I want to see a clean fight that adheres to the rules of the tournament" Toki explained the new instructions. Both girls decided to prepare to fight. Molly and Oona locked eyes and bowed before getting into position "Hajimeru!"

Molly vs. Oona. Both girls faced each other to complete the training with the final test. They both gave everything in that fight. The two applied everything they knew and learned. There were several exchanges of punches and blows with fins. Despite that, neither managed to gain an advantage over the other. It was a very even fight until one fell due to carelessness.

"Are you okay?" Molly asked after she defeated Oona. She had fallen from the allowed zone, giving the victory to her friend.

"I'm fine...Hmmm...It was just an oversight" Oona managed to get up, but the battle was lost for her.

"Very good job, Molly. And Oona, those distractions could cost you dearly in the tournament. But don't worry, I think you two are ready for the tournament. Take a break. In a few days the tournament will be and they must be rested and at one hundred percent" Toki said calmly. The girls caught their breath before resting and heading home. Not before talking to each other. Molly was surprised that she beat Oona. But the Asian girl told her that she was not bothered by the defeat and she was happy for Molly's improvement. The pink-haired girl left and the uncle met up with his niece.

"Is something wrong, Uncle Toki?" Oona asked him.

"Oona, are you really convinced that you want to participate in the tournament? I have seen you training these days and I still notice that you are still afraid of using your true potential. Listen, if you don't want to participate..." He tried to empathize with her.

"I...I'm still going to participate. I thought about it well and I want to win that award...Not for me, but for Nonny" Oona explained her real reason.

"For Nonny, your fiance?" He raised his eyebrow.

"Nonny has invested a lot of money helping our friends. I just want to help him too, he deserves it. Although I don't like the idea of fighting at all... At least it's in an environment with honor" The purple-haired girl answered.

"That's your reason, huh? Not bad, but I feel like you need to be focused. You have been very distracted in the last few training sessions..." Her uncle started to think about something else "Oona….Tell me the truth...Are you still scared by what happened years ago?" He knew about a possible event that could be the answer. Oona was silent again.

"Please…..I don't want to talk about it...Never again" Oona said seriously. That was surprising coming from Oona. Toki never looked surprised. Not wanting to continue bothering her with questions and questions, he decided to leave her alone about that topic. After all, there was something more important at that time: The tournament.

The moment of truth had arrived. The day of the tournament arrived. The event hall they chose was ideal for a martial arts tournament. Many trainers arrived very early to prepare the combat arenas and the stands. Some people started arriving early. Molly and Oona arrived early with their mentor Toki. The two girls wore white martial arts uniforms (keikogi) with cherry blossom petals being the characteristic design of the Sakura Leaf dojo. Both received advice from the sensei before the start of the tournament. The other guppies came to them to support them in the competition.

"I'm glad you could come, guys" Oona commented happily.

"We wouldn't miss this at all" Goby said.

"It's the perfect opportunity to see our "Fighting Guppies!" Deema said funnily, imitating the punches and kicks. The rest giggled.

"I've always wanted to see a live martial arts tournament" Urchin said curiously.

"I believe that you will reach the final" Zooli added.

"If that were the case, you two would fight each other, right?" Gil asked nervously.

"...Assuming they won't face each other a few rounds before" Nonny thought about that possibility.

"According to the matchup rules, members of the same dojo should not face each other unless they advance to the final round. Surely you two wouldn't face each other until the final. But don't think about that, first focus on reaching the final to start" Toki reminded them.

"Oona, let's make a promise. You and I will beat all our opponents so we can fight each other in the final. No matter who wins, we'll still be friends. Promise?" Molly extended her hand with a smile.

"Promise!" Oona said that before both girls touched their pinkies as a gesture of promise.

"Awwww how adorable. You two believe you will go far in this tournament. What a pity you two give me" It was a new female voice.

That surprised everyone present and they turned to see who said that rude comment. That comment came from a light-skinned mysterious guppy girl. She had very short brown hair with a one-piece purple tail with irregular yellow stripes. Her eyes were similar to Oona's, but were a darker brown. And instead of showing kindness, she showed intimidation. She was not alone. She was accompanied by a guppy boy with long upward black hair and her fin was orange with small red flames. Furthermore, there were two girls who were very similar to each other. They seemed to be sisters. They both had short gray hair with black fins with yellow fragments in the shape of thin diamonds. What differentiated the two were their bangs. One of them had her left eye covered with her bangs while her partner had her right eye covered with her bangs. Behind them they were supervised by a locust man with a black mustache. They all wore the same clothing: A black keikogi with a golden scorpion logo on their backs. Everyone was surprised to see them. They looked intimidating. But unlike the others, Oona was the one who looked the most uncomfortable. She felt a sense of dread when she saw the main girl who looked like Oona. The girl noticed Oona and simply approached with a murky smile.

"I'm glad to see you after so many years, my dear cousin….."

What a start, isn't it? What a way to start the arc than with the revelation of certain characters who seem to be connected to Oona's past. What is Oona hiding and why is she so afraid of this new girl? The answers will be revealed soon.

I'm sorry for the delay with this story and the others. Lately I have been burdened with issues in my personal life. Likewise, I try not to neglect my works that are important to me. Likewise, don't forget to leave your reviews and I will be aware of them.

In fact, let's move on to answering the reviews from the previous chapter.

RainbowFoxy1987: Hello there! It was actually very clever of Nonny to set up a distraction for his girlfriend to hide the surprise party. The entire party was beautiful and the proposal was simply the final detail that was so sublime. Unfortunately, we will see that there are going to be certain complications. But I am sure that our protagonists will be able to get out of this.

mermaidf: Hi there! I'm sure Avi and Sharon took advantage of all the time between Teen and Adult Years to develop their relationship. Don't miss the details that will appear in this new stage of the story.

PrimroseRaspberry: Hello! These little treasure hunt adventures are definitely fun, and Nonny took advantage of it wisely. The fact that Oona and Nonny finally had their dance after losing it to the villains was beautiful. And the marriage proposal only made everything better. So we'll see how the path develops for the calmer guppies to celebrate their wedding.

GojiRaptor06: Hi there, dude! The previous chapter is the beginning of a very interesting arc. From this chapter we can see that there are still many surprises to see. Always be attentive to what is coming.
