Chapter 4
Sam had invited Eddy over to help her study for her student pilot course. It was an excellent cover as Eddy truly did need help. She drove her rusted old yellow and black Chevy Nova coup that she dubbed "Bumble Bee" to the drive.
SG-1 was inside the home all in civilian clothing. Jack looked out the window. "Man, she drives a bigger piece of crap than Daniel."
Daniel rolled his eyes.
Jack watched as Eddy existed the car after rolling down the window to open the car door from the outside handle. She then rolled the window back up before closing the door upon gathering her books. She wore civilian clothing of jeans and a flannel. She had her books in hand and noticed the extra vehicle in Sam's driveway. She made her way to the front door.
Before she could ring the door bell, Jack opened the door. He greeted. "Winchester."
"Colonel?" she asked surprised.
"Come on in." he invited her.
She stepped into Sam's home and glanced about. It was nicely decorated and well kept. Sam called. "I'm in the kitchen, Eddy."
Jack motioned. "This way."
Eddy walked behind Jack to the kitchen wondering if she had the wrong day and time. She did not expect others to be at the study session.
She found a board game was laid out on the table. Teal'c and Daniel both milling about. She figured she must have made a mistake. "Um…do I have the right time?"
Sam explained as she gathered some snacks. "We normally get together for a game once a month. The Colonel and I can both go over your airman book with you. I thought you wouldn't mind joining us for a game of Monopoly."
"Sure." she agreed though feeling a bit disappointed. She placed her books down nearby.
Jack picked up the first book. "Ah, I remember reading this."
Eddy admitted. "I'm having some issues with lift, drag, angle of attack and cord lines. It gets kind of confusing."
Jack offered. "I can go over that with ya. I'm good at dumbing things down."
Daniel quipped. "You can say that again, Jack."
He rolled his eyes.
Eddy asked. "You are a pilot too, Daniel?"
"Oh no!" he shook his head. "I'm a linguist and an archeologist. I speak twenty-eight languages and hold a number of degrees."
She sat dumbfounded. "I speak a little Spanish." she winced. She began to feel a bit overwhelmed as she knew she was likely the least educated sitting at the table.
"Oh! What much do you speak?" he wondered.
"Enough to ask basic assessment questions." she told him. She looked to Teal'c. "You are a pilot too?" She noticed the emblem on his head but figured it was none of her business to ask.
"I am capable of piloting many craft." he told her.
"Cool." she replied.
Sam placed a tray of snacks before the Jaffa. His eyes lit up at the sight.
Eddy remarked. "A way to a man's heart is through his stomach."
Daniel agreed. "Actually, there is some research that backs that old saying up. And food is also a center piece of culture and trade."
"Hmm…It's the center piece of a fire department too." she nodded.
Jack sounded. "You guys to the best chicken barbeque."
"You like our chicken barbeque, Colonel?" she asked amused.
"I buy one every year." he proclaimed.
"Thank you! That helps us raise money for new gear." she grinned.
Jack beamed. "You should give out fire truck rides for donations." He liked his idea. He thought it was rather clever.
"You would buy a ticket, Jack?" Daniel smirked at him.
He bragged. "Don't need to, Daniel. The Chief said he would let me drive the engine again."
Daniel sarcastically asked. "Did you dream of being a fireman when you were a little boy, Jack?"
"Cowboy! Back when I was a kid cowboys were in, Daniel." he told him.
Sam asked. "You want anything to drink, Eddy? I got beer, soda. Coffee or tea."
"Ice water would be fine." she stated.
Sam quickly retrieved a glass of water and ice. She placed it down noting that was going to be her best source for the DNA sample.
Jack asked. "You always wanted to be a paramedic, Winchester?"
She shook her head. "No! I was a foster kid growing up. My mom died when I was ten. I dreamed I was a missing princess and my real father would come and get me and take me to a far away castle where I would live a life of luxury and be loved and cared for." She took a sip of water. "Then I grew up and realized that was nothing more than a fairytale. No money, my grades were so-so. I joined the fire department. They provided training and I the guys helped me find an apartment that I could afford."
Daniel asked. "So, never really wanted to be a paramedic growing up?"
She confessed. "Never crossed my mind."
"What about television and movies growing up?" Daniel asked. "You have a favorite?"
She nodded. "Star Wars blew me away."
He had to ask. "You wanted to be Princess Leia?"
"No!" she shook her head. "I thought Darth Vader is cool. The other kids wanted to by Luke Skywalker and I'm like…Vader kicks ass."
Teal'c stated very seriously. "Vader had a false sense of power from the Dark Side." He was a huge fan of the movies and found the idea of the antagonist being cool rather upsetting.
"So," she shrugged. "He still kicked ass."
"I find your lack of judgment disturbing." The Jaffa stated.
"Me too." she had to agreed. She looked over the game. "Who gets the race car?"
SGC
SG-1 gathered with Dr. Janet Frasier and General Hammond for the results of the DNA test that was secretly run on Eddy. Janet sat with a file folder before her. She looked over the curious faces. "I have the DNA results and Eddy is half human, with the Ancient gene from her mother's side. The paternal DNA is mostly Asgard sliced with Nox and an unknown DNA. Possibly Furling. I have no clue but it's not much. Eddy is half human and half a genetic mix of other races. I think we are looking at a bioengineered product."
Jack asked. "Bio engineered product? What does that mean?"
"I think she conceived in a lab." Janet stated frankly. "The mother was human. Whoever did this took her egg and fertilized is with sliced Asgard DNA. She's fifty percent human, forty-five percent Asgard, three percent Nox and two percent something else."
Daniel sat beside himself. "Who would do such a thing? Create a half human hybrid using DNA from other races?"
Sam stated. "Probably the Asgard since they have the technology to do it and she's mostly Asgard and human. Question is why would Thor do something like this behind our backs?"
Daniel suggested. "Either Thor has a secret genetics program that we don't know about or…Some other Asgard did it. Like…Loki." he suggested looking at Jack. "We know Loki can be a loose cannon."
"He stole my ass and made clone." he agreed.
Janet stated. "Either way…we need to bring Thor in on this and have him examine her genetics. Obviously, it's not stable. She has a diabetic issue as a side effect. We don't know what the long term outlook is for her."
Daniel asked. "How do we get her in? Sam already asked her to come in and even suggested joining the Air Force. She declined."
Jack suggested. "Offer her a ride in a jet. She would need a physical for that anyways."
Sam shook her head. "I doubt she will. I think we should just be honest with her. Tell her that we know and tell her we got her DNA and ask if she would like to know the results." She looked at the pondering faces. "We need to get her in base. If there is a rogue Asgard element, they could come and literally take her right out from under our nose. We need to get her secured in base and contact Thor."
"Agreed." Hammond stated.
Teal'c suggested. "Perhaps, she will be more inclined to enter the base if she thinks she is needed."
Jack asked his friend. "T?"
"MajorCarter could pretend to be experiencing a side effect of the healing and EdnaWinchester is requested to come into base to assist." he proposed.
Sam asked. "You mean lie to her and tell her I'm sick or dying and ask her to come in and heal me again?"
"Correct." he nodded. "She sees you as a friend and she had healed you. She assured you that you would be fine. If she thinks you are not fine she will want to know why."
"Sneaky T." Jack agreed.
"Kind of underhanded." Sam winced. "We should just tell her the truth!"
"But that would not ensure her cooperation." Teal'c countered.
Daniel concluded. "If she thinks something is wrong with Sam, she will come in. I only just met her but she does strike me as the type who would come running to help someone."
Janet stated, "We can call her and say Sam is very ill, we don't know why and Sam is requesting her to come in and see her."
Hammond gave permission. "Do it! Get her in here."
Sam felt awful for she knew it was a lie. "Yes sir." she reluctantly replied.
Later that Day
After receiving a phone call from Jack telling her that Sam was suddenly very ill and was requesting she come into base to see her, Eddy found herself riding down the elevator the full twenty eight floors. Sporting her paramedic uniform she came running just like Daniel suggested. She was worried for Sam. Wondered what she could have missed. She stood agitated in the elevator.
The lift came to a stop and the door slid open. There before her in the hallway stood Sam with Jack as they waited for her. Eddy stepped off and looked at Sam. She seemed fine. "You okay?" she asked nearly panicked.
Sam assured. "I'm fine. I'm not ill."
She looked to Jack. "Why did you tell me Sam was sick then?"
"To get you to come in. You are stubborn as a Jaffa." he told her.
"Stubborn as a what?" she asked annoyed. She felt used at that point.
"Jaffa." he smiled as the plan worked perfectly.
Sam spoke up. "We needed you to come in. We took a DNA sample off the glass you drank out of at my house. We need to go over the results with you."
"You got DNA off that glass you gave me?" she asked confused. "Why?"
"You healed me." Sam reminded her. "We wanted to know how you did that. You are only half human. Would you like to know more?" she asked.
She stood in disbelief. "Wait! What? I'm only half human? What do you mean by that?"
Sam pleaded. "If you come with us we can tell you."
She stood before the pair. She was half tempted to turn around, get back on the lift and leave. She took a deep breath to sooth herself. She then gave a nod. "Alright."
"This way." Sam motioned.
Eddy began to walk with Jack and Sam down the hallway.
Sam spoke, "I want to apologize for lying about my health to get you into base. It wasn't my idea."
"Whose idea was it?" she asked and glanced at Jack.
Jack stated. "Teal'c came up with it."
"Teal'c?" she asked surprised.
"The Darth Vader of the Jaffa." he teased.
"Darth Vader?" she gave a unbelieving look.
Jack shrugged. "But he thinks he's Luke Skywalker."
"Um…okay…" she wasn't sure what he was speaking about.
Eddy found she was led to an large briefing room with a large wooden table in the center. She recognized Daniel and Teal'c sitting at the table. At the end of the table sat Dr. Frasier and standing at the head of the table was General Hammond.
Hammond welcomed her. "Thank you for coming in, Miss Winchester." He motioned for her to sit. "Have a seat."
"You are General Hammond?" she assessed as she sat down.
"I am." he confirmed.
"Thank you for that huge fruit basket you sent to the fire station." she graciously stated. "The boys loved it."
"My pleasure." he gave a warm smile.
Janet spoke. "I'm Chef Medical Officer Janet Frasier. I would like to thank you for what you did for Sam personally. She a very good friend of mine. You did save her life."
"Welcome." she replied. She wondered what was in store for her. Would they let her leave? Perhaps, study here and place her in a cell or maybe worse?
Jack and Sam both sat down at the table as General Hammond placed a non disclosure agreement before Eddy.
She looked at the paper. "What is this?"
"Standard non disclosure agreement." he told her. "You need to sign it. You will be receiving highly classified information."
"About my DNA test?" she asked confused.
"Yes!" he nodded.
Daniel soothed. "We all signed it."
She figured she was way in over head and had nothing to lose. She signed it and handed it back to Hammond. "Here."
"Excellent." he took the paper. "Dr. Frasier." he gave her a nod.
Janet started. "Your genetics are high unusual. You are half human. From your mother's side. But you don't really have a paternal side. Instead, you have spliced DNA from different sources. You are half human, forty-five percent Asgard, three percent Nox and two percent something that we cannot identify. Possibly Furling."
Eddy asked. "Asgard? My mother told me that my father was named Thor of the Asgard. Like in Norse mythology. Everyone thought she was nuts."
Daniel spoke. "The Asgard are an alien race. So are the Nox." he told her.
"Aliens?" she asked shocked. "You mean my crazy mother was right? She really was taken by aliens and I'm some genetic Frankenstein?"
Sam assured. "You are not a genetic Frankenstein. Your ability to heal is a side effect of the genetic splicing. We want you to meet Thor of the Asgard. We have sent him a message and he's on his way to meet you. He will be at the rendezvous point in three days."
She sat beside herself. "Holy shit man!" She shook her head in total disbelief. "My screw up of a guardian angel is real."
Daniel cocked his head. "What?"
"I see this vision all time. He's says his name is Thor and he's my father and I have to come to the mountain and find this star gate thing and shit like that. No one ever sees him. Just me."
Curious Daniel asked. "What does Thor look like in your visions?"
"About fix foot tall, long white hair and a beard. Carries this hammer." she described.
Sam winced. "That's not what Thor looks like."
"It not?" she asked.
Janet spoke up. "I want to scan you brain to see if there is any implants." The vision was alarming for sure.
Jack remarked. "A vision of Thor told you about the Stargate?"
She asked. "That thing is real?"
Hammond gave a nod and instructions. "Take a look out that window, Miss Winchester."
All eyes were on Eddy as she stood up and walked over to the window. Most would stand in awe, captivated by the ring below. But, Eddy was nearly half Asgard and not easily impressed. "Oh…" she soured. "That thing. I would dream about it."
Daniel noted. "Not your average reaction."
Sam came to Eddy's side. "How would you like to go through it and work as a paramedic here in the S.G.C.?"
She looked back at Sam. "You go through that?"
She nodded with a grin. "We do! We're called SG One. Star Gate One. Were go off world and explore other planets."
She looked back at the Gate. "I don't know. We got some much weird shit here as it is."
Sam pinched her lips tight for a moment.
Jack stated. "Her father better not be Loki."
Daniel asked amused. "Why do you say that, Jack?"
"She's not as smooth as Thor." he concluded.
Sam defended. "She's nearly half Asgard. They are all like that. Thor just puts up with our crap better than most."
Eddy blinked. "I'm afraid to ask who Loki is."
