Five thousand years ago
"Atem… save yourself." Shinkan coughed as smoke filled hisl ung's.
"That's not going to happen." Atem said helping Shinkan up and walk out of the pyramid.
"What about Tiberius?" He groaned stopping before the entrance.
"Don't think about that."
Atem walked out of the Pyramid to find it surrounded by Tiberius's army.
"Atem! it's time for you to hand over the items of millennium."
"You've come to destroy my realm and destroy our power…" He pointed toward Tiberius. "I will give thee three days to live!" A dark mist appeared out of his hand and struck Tiberius and his army. The army coughed as they breathed in the mist.
"Retreat!" Tiberius coughed.
"I-I'm sorry." Shinkan said before falling over.
"Shinkan!" Atem yelled.
3 days later
"Tiberius…" A person coughed. "We should begin."
"Atem's not going to kill his own people by making a plague." Tiberius said walking out to his balcony, his face and presumably his body covered in black veins, he held onto the railing as he had a coughing fit.
Looking up he gasped when he saw a black fog heading toward them. "Servant, get the holy items!" He ran inside.
"Yes, my Lord!" The servant ran to get the items, a few seconds later he returned holding Roman artifacts.
"Get out!"
"Yes, my Lord." The servant ran out of the room.
"Let's go into the chamber." He coughed.
Six others acknowledged him, walked into the chamber, and sat in their assigned positions.
"Caius, you are Mercury the messenger of the gods." He placed a staff with two wings attached to the sides in front of him.
"Lucius, you are Saturn the god of harvest and agriculture." He placed a two-foot scythe in front of him.
"Postumius, you are Mars the god of war." He placed a scale with a shield hanging on one side and a sword hanging on the other side in front of him.
"Murria, you are Venus the goddess of love and beauty." He placed a necklace with a rose in the middle holding it together in front of her.
"Titus, you are Janus the god of doors, beginnings and endings." He placed a large key with two heads sticking out on both sides facing opposite of each other in front of him.
"Servious, you are Pluto the god of the underworld, you watch the shadow realm." He placed a cross with a "U" on top of it and a ball that hovered in the middle in front of him.
"Tiberius, Jupiter the king of all gods." He placed an amulet with an eagle holding a thunderbolt in its talons in front of himself.
"Everybody hold hands." Tiberius said, kissing Murria on her hand.
"Goodbye, my love." She said, her voice shook with fear.
"My Lord!" A servant screamed running down the hall toward them but evaporated into a black mist, his screams echoed through the chamber.
"Close the chamber!" A servant yelled running toward them. He too evaporated.
The servants slammed a hammer on a wooden pole breaking it in half causing the door to slam shut, they then blocked it with a boulder before evaporating.
"The seven royals groaned in pain as their skin started turning black and shed off. "Gods, we ask thee to grant us permission to protect thine holy items and infuse them with our souls!" The group screamed in unison.
A bright blue light blinded everyone as they screamed in pain.
Modern day
Grunts were heard inside the room as the boulder scraped on the floor, it soon stopped. "We got through!" A mumbled voice spoke. "How do we open the door?"
Several clicks and thumping's were heard before the door cracked open from the bottom. More grunting's were heard as the personages behind the voices opened the door. A large, dark haired elderly man wearing a satchel walked forward as dust flew around him. "This is amazing!" He looked around. He gasped when he saw the table where seven skeletons sat around holding hands. "Tiberius…" He walked closer, to find six of the skeleton's heads missing. Looking down he was disappointed to see nothing.
"Mr. Hatoshi!" Another archaeologist pointed toward the skeleton at the head of the table.
He gasped and walked toward it. Opening a journal, he flipped through the pages as he looked at the amulet. "The amulet of the Gods."
"Let's grab it?"
"No!" He yelled trying to stop him, but it was too late, the archaeologist grabbed it and was hit with a sudden beam of energy that knocked him into the wall. "Are you okay?" Mr. Hatoshi ran over.
"Yeah…" He lifted his hand as he felt something move on top, looking at it, his hand started crumbling into ash, looking at Mr. Hatoshi his right side of his body crumbled into ash before the rest of his body joined. Mr. Hatoshi stumbled backwards and fell. Hearing something he looked behind him, his eyes grew wide before screaming.
"Happy birthday to you!"
"Happy birthday to you!"
"Happy birthday dear Yasuha!"
"Happy birthday to you!" His family sang clapping their hands. "Yay!" They cheered as he blew out his candles.
"Happy Birthday big brother!" A six-year-old, pink-haired girl said.
"Thank you!" He hugged her.
"Cake time." His father laughed rubbing his hands together.
Yasuha laughed and grabbed the piece of cake his mom handed him. "Thank you."
"Would you like some ice cream?"
"Not right now, maybe later… thanks." He took a big bite from his cake.
"Sorry I'm late." Mr. Hatoshi said walking through the door.
"Grandpa!" Yasuha ran up and hugged him.
"Oh…" He laughed hugging him. "Happy sixteenth Birthday, kiddo."
"Did you find anything?!"
"Always do." He wrapped his arm around his neck as they walked back to the table. "I even brought you back a birthday present."
"Really! Can I, have it?"
"Not just… yet!"
"Yasuha how about you take your presents to your room…" His father said. "Your mother and I want to talk to your grandpa."
"I want to stay with him!" He whined.
Mr. Hatoshi chuckled. "Listen to your parents, kiddo."
"Go upstairs to." She told his sister.
"Okay…" She jumped off her chair and skipped out of the kitchen.
Yasuha whined as he did as he was told, sneaking back downstairs he heard the three talking. "I don't want Yasuha going into the business." His Father said.
"Why not? I brought you in when you were fifteen." His grandpa defended.
"It's too dangerous." His mother responded.
His grandpa sighed in defeat and looked down. "I'm sorry, Dad…" His father said. "I don't think he's ready, it's gotten more dangerous throughout the years."
"I know." He said, turning his head he saw Yasuha who quickly went up to his room.
"I'm going to talk with him, can I stay over until I leave on my next expedition?"
"When is it?" His mom asked.
"Next week."
"The guest room is yours for a week."
"Thanks, love you." He hugged his son and daughter-in-law.
"Love you to." The two said in unison. Yasuha heard the sound of someone coming up the stairs, grabbing his Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck he jumped on his bed and looked through them.
"Knock!" "Knock!" "Knock!"
"Who is it?" Yasuha asked.
"It's your grandfather."
"Come in."
The door opened and then closed as soon as he walked in. "Your father invented that." He pointed at Yasuha laying on the bed.
Yasuha chuckled and placed his deck on the nightstand before sitting up.
"I guess you heard that?" The Grandpa sighed sitting down.
"What's so dangerous about being an archaeologist?!"
His grandpa sighed. "I…" He sat in thought. "I can't explain it without telling you… trust your parents." He placed his hand on his leg. "Ahh… before I forget I wanted to give you this." He handed him a small package.
"What is it?" Yasuha asked shaking it.
"Open it!" He chuckled.
Yasuha tore the wrapping off and flung the box opened. "What is this?" He asked lifting up the amulet with an eagle holding a thunderbolt in its talons."
"The amulet of Tiberius, the king of all kings."
"Cool, thanks Grandpa."
"Try it on."
"Okay." Yasuha laughed sliding it on his neck. "It's great, thanks grandpa." He hugged him.
"You're welcome, see you in the morning." The Grandpa opened the door and walked out, closing it he smiled as his eyes turned bright red and blood trickled from his eyes down his face, wiping it he looked around and quickly made his way to his room.
Yasuha was awoken by a burning sensation flowing through his back. He tried screaming but something was stopping him, he tried moving but he was frozen. "Please, help me!" He thought as tears formed in his eyes. "Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Help!"
Suddenly he jolted up. Breathing heavily, he looked around as his alarm went off. "Just a nightmare!" He chuckled, getting out ofbed he walked to his dresser and pulled out clean clothes before heading for the bathroom.
Minutes later he screamed and ran out breathing heavily. "Grandpa!" He ran out of his room and into his grandpa's room before slamming it shut. "Grandpa!"
"What's going on, kiddo?"
"My back." He pointed toward his back.
His grandpa raised an eyebrow.
"I'm not lying." Yasuha turned around revealing his back.
Grandpa was left in shock as he looked at his back, which had tattoos scattered across his back. "Yasuha, do you know what these are?"
"No?" He asked.
His grandpa grabbed his journal and opened it up. "Do you know what these are?" He asked showing him drawings, one of the drawings showed a pair of wings, another, a scythe with the handle that curved underneath it. Another showed a scale with a shield hanging on one side and a sword hanging on the other side, another showed a blooming rose bud. Another showed a key with two heads sticking out on both sides facing opposite of each other, another showed a cross with a "U" on top of it and ball that hovered in the middle, the last showed the eagle holding a thunderbolt in its talons.
"No." He shook his head.
"These are cleansing runes. Long ago Egyptian kings and Roman emperors fought with these ancient relics."
"Can you explain why I woke up being branded with these symbols?"
"I don't know, it must have come from the amulet."
"He's smart, He's also lying." A voice in Yasuha's head laughed.
Yasuha turned his head quickly looking around.
"What's wrong?" His Grandpa asked.
"Did you hear that?"
"No, why?"
"It must be, Nothing."
"Nothing… I am Tiberius, ruler of the Gods, you will treat me with the respect I deserve!"
"Who is that?" Yasuha asked.
"What are you hearing?"
"A voice in my head… calling himself Tiberius, ruler of the Gods."
His grandpa's eyes grew wide. "It is true!"
"What do you mean it's true! You knew this was going to happen!"
"No… I wanted to see if it were true."
"You put a dead guy in me!"
"Yasuha you're going to be late for school." His mom yelled.
"I can't believe you did this!" He walked out of the room and slammed the door shut.
The Grandpa chuckled, his eyes turning red, and blood trickled down his face.
Yasuha grumbled as he walked down the stairs trying to take off the Amulet.
"You're stuck with me, kid!" Tiberius said.
"Get out of my head!"
"Wish I could, you don't understand how it feels to be stuck inside a prison!"
"You don't understand how it is to have a voice stuck inside your head!" He mumbled angrily walking toward the kitchen.
"There you are… You're going to be late for school."
"I know, sorry."
"It's okay…" She hugged him. "Is this the present Grandpa gave you?"
"Yeah." He mumbled.
"Okay…" She ran her finger through his hair. "Eat before we have to leave."
"Okay… Love you."
"Love you."
A loud bell rang around the campus informing the students to get to class. "Love you!" He waved at his mom as he ran out of the car. "Love you!" His mom called out as he ran inside the school.
Science class
"Hello class, today I don't want to teach, so today were going to watch a documentary on plants."
The class gasped in excitement.
"Calm down, calm down." The teacher laughed, starting the documentary.
"What is this advanced technology?" Tiberius asked.
"Go away." He froze when he noticed his classmates looking at him. He smiled and waved his fingers at them.
"I can tell you how to make a laxative using these plants."
"What would…" He bent down as kids looked at him. "What would a laxative do for this situation?" He whispered. "Stop bothering me."
30 minutes later
"I'm bored." Tiberius said.
Yasuha sighed in defeat. "Is there anything you can tell me about this amulet?"
"Yes, but why should I tell you?"
"Because fate wanted me to be stuck with your gloomy butt."
"Fine."
"Well… what is it?"
"I can't remember."
"How can you not remember?"
"Shush!" A student said behind him. "Weirdo!"
"How about you get stuck in an amulet for 5000 years."
Yasuha was about to reply when the bell interrupted him. "Thank you, class, will see you tomorrow." The teacher spoke as they quickly walked out of the class.

4 hours later/Lunch
"At lunch, me and my friends usually play Yu-Gi-Oh! during this class."
"Yu-Gi-Oh!?"Tiberius asked.
"What! Do you remember anything?" He asked walking into the library.
"I remember…"Several flashbacks quickly flowed in front of him." Fighting the Egyptians with… Ka."
"Ka?"
"Happy birthday!" Four people said in unison, startling him.
He jumped and held his chest. "Thanks, Yugi, Téa, Joey, Tristen." He smiled.
"You're welcome, I baked you a cake." Téa said.
"Jeez, how did you fit a cake in your bag, Téa?" Tristen asked.
"She didn't do that!" Joey put him in a headlock.
Yasuha chuckled "Did you bring plates?"
"Yeah, here." Téa said passing out the plates.
"Kaiba did you want some?" She asked him as he read a book while sitting at the table.
"I'll take a piece to my brother." Kaiba growled.
"Here you go." Yasuha said.
"Kaiba."
"What!" Kaiba growled.
"Never mind."
"Good!"
"Let's eat this and play some cards." Yugi said.
"Great."
"Who's going to die?" Tiberius asked.
Yasuha choked on the piece a cake he was eating.
"Are you okay?" Téa asked.
"Yeah…" He wheezed, grabbing his water bottle he drank down the piece.
"Cool necklace." Tristan interrupted.
"Oh…" He grabbed it and looked at it. "Thanks, I got it for my birthday."
"Awesome, what is it?" Joey asked.
"It's just an amulet."
"Just an Amulet!" Tiberius growled. "You're just a skin suit."
Yasuha shook his head in confusion. "Who's up first?"
"Yugi and joey should go first." Téa suggested.
40 minutes later
Yasuha yawned as he stood up and stretched. "Everything okay?" Yugi asked.
"Yeah… just tired, I had a restless night sleep." He twisted his back, popping it.
"Did you want to duel against Yugi next?" Téa asked.
"Maybe next time, I'm going to stretch my legs around the library."
"Oh… okay."
Yasuha slid his chair under the table before walking around. Looking through the books he saw something in the corner of his eye. Walking toward it he heard the door from behind him slam shut. Startled he jumped around. "What was that?" He asked.
"Hey, Yasuha!" Yugi called.
Shaking his head he looked at him. "Yeah!"
"We're going to Grandpa's card shop after school, did you want to come?"
"Oh… um. Not today, thanks."
"You're welcome, see you next time."
8 hours later
Yasuha was walking through town. "I can't believe Grandpa would do this!" He grumbled. "I thought I trusted him!"
"Hey!" Yasuha heard yelling across the street causing him to look up to see Yugi and their friends running down the street.
"Hey, Yugi!" He ran after them. "What's going on?"
"Kaiba has my grandpa!" Yugi said in a panic.
"Is he okay?"
"I don't know!' Yugi said running into a building with his friends following.
Breathing heavily the team got into the elevator, going up felt like an eternity. "Come on, come on!" Yugi said.
The door opened allowing Yugi to run out. "Grandpa!" He gasped as his grandfathers' body lay on the ground.
"Yugi." Solomon groaned. "I failed, I wanted to teach that boy kaiba a lesson about the heart of the cards, but I lost."
"Oh!" Solomon groaned in pain.
"Grandpa!" Yugi gasped.
A door hissed opened revealing Kaiba standing at the entrance. "How's the old man feeling, hmm?"
"Kaiba, you sleaze what have you done to him?" Joey asked.
"We had a duel that's all, with each of us putting up our most valuable card as the prize, but I guess playing against a champion like myself was just too much stimulation for the old fool." Kaiba chuckled.
"Kaiba you should be ashamed of yourself!" Téa said sternly.
"It was fair…" He revealed Blue-eyes white dragon from his pocket. "And look at the sweet prize I won." Kaiba said before tearing it in half.
"Grandpa's most treasured card!" Yugi gasped.
"Yes, the blue eyes white dragon is a rare and powerful card, and this one will never be used against me."
"My blue eyes white dragon, my treasure." Solomon grunted.
"Grandpa hold on…" Yugi said. "How could you do such a thing?!"
"Yugi here, take this." Solomon grunted handing Yugi a deck.
"Huh…" Yugi placed his hand on him. "Grandpa?"
"I built this deck, I put my soul in thesecards, and I taught you everything I know, Yugi, take them, take my cards and teach him respect, teach kaiba respect for the heart of the cards Yugi."
"But grandpa you need help, I've got to get you to a doctor."
"Sounds like an excuse, your friends can care for your grandfather while you and I duel, Unlessyou'reafraid." Kaiba replied.
"Take him Yugi." Joeysaid.
"Huh." He turned to look at his friends.
"We can take care of your grandpa, while you take care of creepy kaiba, teach that rich spoiled brat what a real duel's all about."
"For your grandpa Yugi." Téa said.
"I don't know." Yugi said.
"Trust me, you're like the best player I've everseen, and you got the millennium puzzle..." Joey said. "You can do this Yugi; I know you can."
"We all do." Téa said.
Yugi grabbed the deck. "Ok grandpa, I'll do it."
"Iknowyou will, my boy."
"Everyone put your hands together and I'll mark us with a special sign."
"Leave me out!" Yasuha said with his hands raised in the air.
"Huh? what gives Téa?" Tristan asked, as she drew a smiley face on their combined hands.
"It's a symbol of our friendship, so when Yugi's dueling no matter how tough it gets, he'll know that he's not alone we're all right there with him."
"Hmm." Yugi nodded.
Joey, Tristan, and Téa ran out with Tristan carrying Solomon.
Yugi, Kaiba, and Yasuha walked through the doors that Kaiba stood in front of.
"Wow!" Yasuha said in amazement as they entered into a large dueling stadium.
Yugi and Kaiba walked up some stairs and onto a yellow platform. "I designed this virtual stadium myself, impressive, hmm? I think you'll agree it adds a bit more life to the game."
"We each begin with 2000 life points…" The yellow platforms started moving. "First player to hit zero loses…" The platforms stopped in the middle of the room standing in the air. "Are you ready to play, runt?"
"Play time is over, Kaiba!"
Yasuha was stunned in amazement but was ripped out of it when he felt energy all around the room. Looking up he saw Yugi, who morphed into something else… someone else.
Yasuha felt his heartbeat grow faster, the sharp pains in his back came back as he winced in pain, his legs gave out as he fell to one knee. Clenching his chest, he felt the amulet moving rapidly across his chest. Grabbing it he gasped, his grip grew stronger and stronger until the pendant went through his skin and blood dripped onto the floor, suddenly he lost consciousness, but regained it, seconds later.
Breathing heavily, he opened his eyes and found himself in a dark room. "Where am I?" he asked.
"You'rein my head, now!"Tiberiuslaughed.
"What? how is that possible? let me out!"
"It's good to finally breathe again."Tiberius took a deep breath. He looked over to see Atem playing a duel."Atem!"He growled."Atem!"He shouted.
"Huh!" Atem looked over to find a shadowy figure floating where Yasuha stood, it's eyes burning red along with a mouth that cracked open as a black mist-like substance flowed down and covered the floor.
"I will kill you!"It yelled.
Yasuha fell on the ground as the darkness overpowered him. "No… you… don't!" He shouted standing up.
"No!"Tiberius shouted as he was absorbed back into his prison."
Yasuha gained consciousness, breathing heavily, and shaking profusely. Looking at Yugi and then at his amulet he ran out of the arena. "Yasuha!" Joey shouted.
Yasuha ran out of Kaiba's tower, and down the street pushing people over and out of his way. "Get off!" He shouted trying to take off the amulet, stopping at a bridge over water. "Get off!" He tried again.
"You and I are stuck together!"Tiberius said.
"Shut up!" He shouted before tripping and falling over the bridge. A hand reached over the bridge and caught him, looking up he saw Joey.
"Let me go, Joey!"
"No way, man. You've been acting weird ever since you got that necklace, and I ain't gonna let you commit suicide." He groaned pulling Yasuha up on the bridge.
"Are you okay?" Yugi asked.
Hearing Yugi's distorted voice made him go in and out of consciousness. "Atem…" He mumbled, looking at Yugi's blurred silhouette he lost consciousness.
