"We shall always remember the day"
"When new life came to Nibel"
Swallow's Nest was a home residing within in the Forest of Nibel. It was elevated on a plateau-like place, with a cave residing near the center as its main hideout. Near the edge of the place was a little glowing white creature known as a "spirit," an abundant species in the Forest that was once endangered before. The name of this spirit is Ori, and he had a dramatic adventure prior to where he is now.
Ori was sitting on a ledge, gazing from afar at his birthplace, the Spirit Tree, a large power source-like tree that stands tall within the center of the Forest of Nibel. He was reflecting upon his previous adventure that only happened maybe one or two days ago, where he was initially separated from the tree, adopted by a new mother, and allegedly put himself on a quest to save Nibel from the effects of Kuro. It turned out in the end, Kuro was a vastly misunderstood mother herself, but it resulted in her sacrificing her life to save Nibel anyways. Even after the many times Kuro tried to end Ori's life, Ori still mourned for Kuro's death, because now, Ori would have the duty to raise Kuro's new child.
"Ori! Orrriiiii!"
Ori heard a familiar voice that interrupted his reflection. He looked left, towards the sound of the voice. He knew the voice, it was Gumo's voice, the enemy-turned-ally after Ori changed his heart too. Ori stood up and ran back to the Cave in Swallow's Nest to see the news.
"We named her Ku"
When Ori arrived at the cave, he saw his mother, Naru, smiling, and cradling the newborn owl in her arms. Ori would walk up as Gumo guided him to the baby Ku. Behold, the child. Naru gave Ku to Ori, the spirit now cradling the owl with his own arms. Then Ori snuggled with Ku. The warmth Ori felt from holding Ku was nothing short of love.
As time passed, the family of Ori, Naru, and Gumo was busy in raising Ku. While not being birds themselves, the three creatures taught Ku various skills, such as what food to harvest and eat, what to do in the free time, and interestingly enough, how to fly. Ku had grown to be a little bigger than Ori now, large enough for Ori to ride on her.
"The sky was called to her"
"Gumo and Naru heard it too"
However, the flight lessons for Ku did not go as planned, as one of her wings was damaged prior to her birth. It might have been caused by burning fire from when Nibel was last in shambles.
After one test flight, Ku stumbled and face-planted on the ground. When she got back up, she simply looked at her broken wing and shook her head. Ku then went to a random boardwalk by a lake to unwind. Ori, seeing her sadness, followed her to sit by the boardwalk. It was nighttime, and the moon was well-lit. Suddenly, a memory bounced back in Ori's mind.
"The answer lay in the past"
"Her mother's final gift"
There was a treasure chest Ori remembered, somewhere placed safely in the vicinity of Swallow's Nest. Ori headed there now. When Ori opened the chest, he fumbled around to find what he was looking for. Bingo, Kuro's feather he had acquired on his last adventure, the feather of Ku's biological mother. Ori returned to Ku with the feather. To Ku's surprise, the feather was the perfect size to cover her broken wing. But, it was nighttime, so the two should get some rest before they head to Gumo to repair Ku's wing.
Next morning, both Ori and Ku woke up way too early. They were just too excited to fly. They found Gumo was sleeping on a wooden bed, under his tent. Ori used Kuro's feather to wake him up, and he did. Gumo took a look at Ku's broken wing, then looked at the feather. Nothing a few strings can't fix, so Gumo did so. Ku's wing was now ready. To Ori's excitement, he climbed onto Ku's back. It was time to fly.
Ku leaped forward from the ledge with Ori on her back of Swallow's Nest, initially almost tumbling down, frightening Gumo, who was watching their test flight. Thankfully, Ku regained control and flew upwards, becoming the bird she always wanted to be. Naru watched from afar, from a peephole in a tree hideout.
While flying, Ku took Ori to the skies around memorable points in the Forest. They flew by the Spirit Tree, Ori's biological father. They flew by the Ginso Tree, a place Ori had restored on his last adventure. They flew through the Forlorn Ruins, where the winds were well blowing. They flew by the Sunstone, a fiery artifact that helped Ori back at Mount Horu. And then, Ku and Ori would fly across the border of Nibel, exiting the Forest and across a vast body of water, a mini ocean perhaps. Ku then took formation with some birds that were flying on their own pace.
Suddenly, as Ku was flying, Ori spotted in the distance a new landmass. This would be a new Forest called "Niwen."
Crossing the border of that, Ku and Ori would enter through thunderstorm near land. In the distance, Ori caught sight of a withered and decayed Spirit Tree. It looked much different from the Spirit Tree back on Nibel. There was also a lot of purple color around the Forest too. No, it can't be the Decay again, can it? As the storm was getting stronger, rain started to pour down and lightning began striking. Wind became stronger, so strong that it started to throw Ku off balance while flying. Then, the wind blew Kuro's feather off of Ku's wing, causing the owl to spiral out of control in midair, while Ori lost grip on Ku's back. Both would plunge down to the Forest below, with Kuro's feather flying elsewhere.
