Title: One simple rule

Summary: Padma just has one rule for her office: no dating.

WC: 391

The Ministry for Magic did not always have the best of reputations. Padma Patil, newly appointed Head of Cultural Affairs, in the newly created Cultural Affairs department, wanted her brand new department to be an exception to the rule. Therefore, she had one simple rule: NO DATING.

Strictly no romance between co-workers!

And there you go, it was as simple as that. Everything went smoothly most of the time. It was a rule she strictly enforced. She even had a reward system for informants, who would snitch on others when romance seemed to form. It was her belief that any sort of romantic drama was the root cause of all evil.

For instance, she had recently been tipped off that something might be happening between her newest employees, Scorpius Malfoy and Rose Weasley-Granger, though that did seem really strange to her.

But, one was never too sure.

Padma wondered her way down the corridor to Rose's office, narrowly avoiding one of the many paper air planes zooming about.

The door was closed. Hmm. Suspicious. She preferred it when her employees kept the doors open: it allowed for a better flow of communication.

She paused in front of the door and put her ear to the door. She couldn't hear anything. Hmm. Very, very suspicious. The rooms were extremely poorly sound-proofed. There should have been the sound of a typewriter or something.

First option: Rose was late. But that was probably not the case. She was one of their stellar employees: always on time, if not early, reports always perfectly done and all that. She was very much life her mother in that matter-which is why it surprised Padma when she heard Rose might be breaking the one and only rule in the office.

Second option: Rose had purposefully put a sound-proofing spell on her door, so that no one could hear what was happening inside.

Goodness gracious! What on earth was happening in there?

Padma threw the door open.

And lo and behold, it was none other than Rose Weasley-Granger, her star employee, snogging her other star employee, Scorpius Malfoy. They jumped apart when they saw her.

"NO DATING!" Padma screeched.

The two of them sheepishly murmured excuses, which Padma would hear none of. For some reason, she had a feeling the two of them would be breaking her rule again...
