Chapter 16 - The Wizengamot Summer Session
The Daily Prophet
Light in the Darkness! Mass-Breakout from Azkaban, Lord Slytherin-Potter saves Diagon Alley from Total Annihilation
The first major attacks of the Second Wizarding War began in earnest yesterday as the Dark Lord staged a massive breakout of over a hundred Azkaban prisoners while also attacking Diagon Alley. While unfortunately, the attacks on both Azkaban and Diagon Alley were successful, with the lives and souls of many being lost, Lord Slytherin-Potter, the Boy-Who-Lived, saved the lives of many, bringing hope in a rousing speech that led to a united Diagon Alley not simply defending themselves from the Death Eaters, but utterly destroying them.
The Death Eaters, while uncountable after the destruction are said to have been numbered at around twenty, began their attack by detonating an Erumpent horn inside Globus Mundi, bringing down the shop from the inside and completely blocking off the street with rubble, killing eleven. This meant no escape via Gringotts Knockturn and Horizont Alley. Shortly before this, however, an Anti-Apparition ward was raised via a magical-core bound runestone, meaning no one could apparate out unless the Death Eater was killed. Total entrapment was achieved via the Floo network also being completely shut down for the better part of an hour, not only meaning that no one in Diagon Alley could escape but also delaying the much-needed swift dispatch of Aurors to Azkaban prison.
The Death Eaters began to cause total mayhem, brutally killing thirty-two more witches and wizards of all ages before the crowd managed to escape in the streets shops, all recently re-warded thanks to Lord Slytherin-Potters revealing of the Dark Lord's return in the last Wizengamot session. This meant the Death Eaters were alone in the street, but what they weren't betting on was that Lord Slytherin-Potter was also in Diagon Alley that day and was hiding in Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour with Heiress Daphne Greengrass, who he seemed to share a romantic connection with. Lord Slytherin-Potter, via a sonorous charm, delivered a speech to the whole alley, giving them hope that he was there fighting with them. He highlighted how many more numbers they had compared to the Death Eaters, and bid them to take the Dark Lord's minions down with cutting curses if they did not lay face down on the ground and threw their wands to the side. If they were to do so, the public was asked to simply stun them. The denizens of the alley then counted down to zero before opening fire. All twenty-plus Death Eaters were killed, though unfortunately one of the Death Eaters managed to shoot some kind of spell into Quality Quidditch Supplies, a cutting curse that constantly rebounded, killing or injuring a further forty-five people.
While Lord Slytherin-Potter's plan saved both the day and many lives in Diagon Alley, the death toll was great. In the absence of Aurors who had been all trying to defend Azkaban, seventy-eight people were killed while others are in St Mungo's several of whom are said to be in life-threatening conditions. We are just grateful that Lord Slytherin-Potter was there, as the number could easily have become much greater. Turn to page two for information on the mass breakout of Azkaban, the first public sighting of You-Know-Who in over a decade. On page three we have a column written by Lord Slytherin himself, submitted before the attacks, on the much-awaited Wizengamot session today as well as on his thoughts about the future of the Wizarding World.
Hope, by Lord Harry Slytherin-Potter
With the upcoming session of the Wizengamot playing on many people's minds, I wanted to talk to you all beforehand, to let you know my thoughts and hopefully bring a few words of hope when I know everyone is very afraid right now.
I've heard that some say that I was reckless in my plan, in the way that I revealed the Dark Lord's return and the identities of some Death Eaters who were present in the Grand Auditorium, but I ask you, what choice did I have? You all know how Dumbledore and I tried to tell Minister Fudge that Voldemort had returned. We tried countless times after I witnessed his resurrection after the Triwizard Tournament. How many times, was I called a liar, both in direct quotes in this paper and in the Wizengamot itself? Many of you may have thought that I was lying, and I don't blame you, it is a scary prospect, but I'd like to think that if you, reader, had been Minister of Magic then you would've been sensible when the Chief Warlock was agreeing with me and maybe order at least some sort of investigation into the matter.
Yet Fudge was vehement in his denial. He wasn't having it. Back when I was just Heir Harry Potter, no one wanted to believe the words of a mere schoolboy and it was much easier to call me a narcissist with delusions of grandeur. But I ask you, how else could I have done it? The Death Eaters being at the session wasn't something I could avoid. If I had brought the device I used to play the location memory in Diagon Alley for the public, Fudge would likely either have declared that the memory was doctored and fake or tried to prosecute me for disturbing the peace, perhaps both.
I have heard some say that more forethought was needed and that I could have had Aurors there, but this would likely have stopped my plan entirely. Lord Yaxley, one of the Death Eaters killed, was Lady Amelia Bones' second in command in the DMLE, and if there were any suspicion whatsoever he would very likely have gone to Fudge and had me silenced in advance somehow, or told his comrades that something was wrong and they wouldn't have come to the session. Yes, it was dangerous, but such things are necessary in war. On that day not only did we cast off Fudge's ineptitude, but we also revealed the evil hiding in the shadows. Even better, as a result of great courage, several witches and wizards on the right side within the Ministry worked together to make sure that seven - the most powerful magical number - seven of Lord Voldemort's inner circle were captured or killed. We revealed him and devastated him in one day, likely setting back his plans months.
This successful plan is the first step to defeating him. And yes, I do plan to defeat him. You might understand why I have a personal vendetta, and what many do not know is that he has tried to kill me multiple other times than when I was a baby and at the end of the tournament. I will defeat him once and for all, but for me to do this, it can no longer be an I, it must be a we. We are going to have to defeat him and his followers and work as tirelessly toward his defeat as he will be towards the destruction of everything that we hold dear. I firmly believe that if we do this, he will be stopped. "But how?" you ask.
Don't make it easy for his Death Eaters to hurt you or your families.
Train to defend yourselves.
Ward your homes and businesses.
Report suspicious things that you see.
Join the DMLE if you can, or find other ways to help. I will be working alongside them.
The Dark Lord is a being of hate that wants to spread fear. To defeat him, we will need the opposite. We will need love. Our love for our friends, our families, our colleagues, and our Wizarding World is what we will use to stump up the courage to stand up and do what is right.
I'm sure quite a few of you have shuddered when I said his name in this article, but he is just a man. We give him power when we are afraid to say the name.
Say it. Out loud. Right now. I dare you. Voldemort.
See, it sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it? It is stupid, and completely made up. It's actually French for "Flight from death." Ironic really, that the one who inspires so much fear invented a name that describes how terrified he is of dying. He should be afraid. Afraid of all of us, of how we will rise together as one to crush the little not-actually-a-Lord's little coup.
I won't tell you what his real name is, not yet. I'll save that for a future column, but if you've got one, try and find out who he is with a genealogy book. Hint, The clue is in his name. And don't worry, there's no point in him attacking the Daily Prophet, I have paid for the finest goblin-standard wards on everyone's homes and their offices to make sure that I can keep talking to the citizens of our great nation. I wish I could pay for wards for each family in Britain, but alas, I can't afford it.
What I can give you all though, are words of hope and messages of love.
Our love for each other means that we stand together.
The more they fight us, the closer we stand.
Losses he inflicts may cause grief, but what is grief if not love persevering?
Every single loved one he kills will be a martyr to our cause.
Call their names when you fight for them.
Let his Death Eaters feel your fury. If you see them and you cannot run, turn right back around and kill those bastards where they stand.
I don't just fight for my parents, James and Lily. I fight for all of us.
We will beat him. We will fight for each other. And one day in the not-too-distant future when the Dark Lord and his pathetic minions fall at our hands we will know that our job is done. Until then, don't let the Death Eaters hurt you. Let it be them on the run.
Love and Courage to you all,
Harry
Minutes for Wizengamot meeting 02/08/95
Court Scribe: Percy Ignatius Weasley
Chief Warlock: Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore (CWAD)
11:00 - Doors Sealed.
11:00: CWAD calls for Order, over considerable noise in the Grand Auditorium.
11:02: Session begins
CWAD - There's an awful lot for us to get through today, so we will start by discussing the reason for the last session's abrupt end. As this session is merely a requested continuation of the Solstice session and takes place in the annual August Summer Break, this session must last no longer than one hour. As you will all remember Lord Slytherin-Potter's Locus Memoriat showed us the return of the Dark Lord and revealed the identities of some of his Death Eaters, all of whom were in the courtroom. Lord's Avery, Crabbe, Goyle, MacNair, Nott and Yaxley attacked both Lord Slytherin-Potter and several other Wizengamot members, including myself. While all were either captured or killed quite a few of us were injured and Lords Batworthy, Bode, Ogden and Podmore were all killed. It was -
Ld Abbott - It was downright stupid is what it was! Outing Death Eaters like that in a locked room, what did you expect, Lord Slytherin-Potter? For them to sit all nice and quiet and we would cart them off to Azkaban?
CWAD - Not the way that I would've worded it, but I will let the question stand.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - Absolutely not, Lord Abbott, I expected the Death Eaters to put up a fight.
Ld Parkinson - So you knew you were putting us all in danger.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - I knew there would be a fight, but I didn't think that so few of you would assist us in taking them down.
Ldy Marchbanks - You expect us to just fight Death Eaters?
Ld Black - Of course, he did. I too didn't expect you all to be such cowards.
Ld Macmillan - How dare you! They would've killed us all!
Chief Warlock calls for Order after several members get to their feet and shout towards Lord Black. Order is achieved at 11:05
Ld Black - Come off it MacMillan. How many of us were in this room? Against seven Death Eaters. If you hadn't all been a bunch of cowards and hid or ran away we'd have had them all taken care of in a matter of seconds.
Ldy Longbottom - He's right. I've been thinking about it for weeks, My son, if he were here would've fought, and my daughter-in-law. Merlin, even my grandson. I'm ashamed of the way I just got down behind my chair and hid like a scared child.
CWAD - We are getting off-topic here, the question is whether or not Lord Slytherin-Potter put the Wizengamot in danger in the way he revealed the Dark Lord's rebirth.
Ld Greengrass - I don't think Lord Slytherin is in danger of putting any of you in danger at all. He expected us all to act with honour and defend what was right. Isn't that what we're all here to do, act for the good of the wizarding world? Aren't we meant to be the example?
Ld Boot - How can you say that? You nearly died!
Ld Greengrass - And Lord Slytherin-Potter wouldn't have had to save my life if it weren't for the fact that barely anyone else rightfully came to his aid.
Ld Diggory - He's right, my son wouldn't have wanted us to roll over for the Death Eaters. I'm on Lord Slytherin-Potter's side. After yesterday, he proved once again he is a man of honour.
DMLE Bones - I don't think the question is whether or not Lord Slytherin-Potter put us in danger. Unbeknownst to us, we were already at war and the consequences dealt a severe blow to the Dark Lord's war efforts. If not for his revealing, we wouldn't have sanctioned Ministry-sponsored re-warding on the shops of the main Diagon Alley strip. Many more would've died yesterday.
Minister Fudge - You mean when Lord Slytherin-Potter incited mass murder, you all heard what he did yesterday. He is dangerous.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - What happened yesterday Fudge, was while Azkaban was under attack Death Eaters locked nearly three hundred people in the middle of the street, with no way to escape killed over thirty people before proceeding to start trying to break into the shops that everyone had hidden in. The wards were breaking on one, so I acted. I gave hope to the wizarding world. Yes, I told them to send cutters at the bastards if they were standing, but if the Death Eaters surrendered they were to lie on the ground and if they did so the public was only to send stunners. I guess the Death Eaters weren't as cowardly as you when you spent the best part of three months denying you know who's return, were they?"
Madame Umbridge - How dare you?
Ld Black - Actually, yes, let's get that part out of the way first, as it seems we are struggling to agree on whether the Dark Lord's revealing was too dangerous and I think this is something that most of us can come to a consensus on.
Since the Dark Lord's return Minister Fudge's denial, his refusal to attempt any cohesive investigation into the matter whatsoever even though he was advised by our chief warlock himself, his slandering in the paper of both the Chief Warlock and Lord Slytherin-Potter has been despicable and beyond contempt. The behaviour shows me that Minister Fudge, who we all know had Death Eater Lucius Malfoy as his advisor either knew the Dark Lord was back and was assisting him, or was such an inept and incompetent coward that he buried his head in the sand, giving the Dark Lord a massive head start in his war effort. Merlin, if Lord Slytherin-Potter hadn't ascended, we might even have had him denying it all year long! Now because I know what happened to his family in the last war I don't think Fudge would ever join the Dark Lord but we cannot afford to do nothing about this. We cannot have a coward as Minister for Magic during wartime. I therefore move for a vote of no confidence for Minister Fudge."
Ld Slytherin-Potter seconded the motion.
Minister Fudge - Now just hang on for one second.
CWAD - The motion has already been passed, Minister. It is customary to cast an immediate vote. Lumos please, to vote no confidence.
Vote percentage after adjustment for Houses of varying noble standing - 92% for, 8% against.
CWAD - The majority percentage stands at ninety-two percent. Minister Cornelius Oswald Fudge, you are hereby relieved of your position as Minister of Magic. Madam Undersecretary, you are to resume your old post in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. We thank you both for your service. Lord Fudge, please take a seat in the main assembly. Madam Umbridge, please vacate the premises.
Ld Fudge - No, I'm not having it, this is all Lord Slytherin-Potter's fault. He's bad news I tell you. I heard he was using parseltongue yesterday.
Ld Scrimgeour - My nephew was there in Fortescue's with Lord Slytherin-Potter yesterday, Fudge. He used a parseltongue healing spell to heal a child's broken leg.
Ld Fudge - You're lying. He's clearly a dark wizard. Why he's - he's confounded you all.
Ldy Longbottom - Fudge, there are several of us versed in the old ways that understand the origins of parseltongue being in healing magic, it is why the symbol of St. Mungo's hospital is the rod of Asclepius, the Greek god of healing, a rod entwined with two snakes. It's only the Dark Lord's use of Parseltongue that has brought many to associate it with Dark Magic.
Ld Runcorn - And Slytherin was dark as well.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - No, he wasn't. I will prove it at some point, but I need to work out which of several of his diaries that I possess aren't written in parseltongue and would be safe from any family magic-based protection spells before I donate them for study,
Ld Black - See Fudge, you haven't got a leg to stand on, now bugger off will you?
Ld Fudge - No. You can't get rid of me this easily. I've been a great Minister. I've helped make many of you rich, you owe me.
CWAD - Amelia, can you please open the door?
11:20 am - Doors Unsealed
CWAD - Lord Cornelius Fudge, you are in contempt of this court. Either leave or take your seat, though I'm sure Lord Slytherin-Potter will follow through on his plan to sue you for slander. Your choice.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - I might be lenient if you go now.
Ld Fudge - No! I'm not going anywhere, let him then! I don't give a damn. This is ridiculous, how dare you.
CWAD - Lord Fudge I have changed my mind. If you do not immediately leave I will have Aurors escort you to a holding cell. Leave. Now.
Lord Fudge and Madame Dolores Umbridge vacate the Grand Auditorium
Doors Resealed
CWAD repeatedly calls for Order, achieved at 11:22 am.
CWAD - As we are now in wartime, Amelia Bones, Head of the DMLE will be interim Minister until an election in the last session of the year a week before the Winter Solstice. Nominations for those wishing to run for Minister will be received by her and will be announced in the Daily Prophet. Now, onto the events of yesterday, beginning with the events of Diagon Alley -
Ld Abbott - No, hang on, we haven't voted on whether what Lord Slytherin-Potter was dangerous.
Ld Greengrass - Are we voting for whether it was dangerous? Or are we voting on whether or not you were too cowardly to get up and get involved in a fight that should've been seven vs nearly two hundred?
Interim-Minister Bones - And are we going to take into the fact that apart from yesterday, there hasn't been a single successful Death Eater attack since?
Ld Abbott - Fine.
CWAD - As I was saying. The situation in Diagon Alley I believe was extenuating circumstances but we can't have people killing Death Eaters indiscriminately.
Ld Slytherin Potter - Why not? They wear the cloak, the mask, they deserve to die.
Ld Parkinson - And what if those behind the cloak were imperiused?
Ld Black - Ah yes, of course, you would bring up the Imperius curse, Parkinson. I wonder how long it will be before you're imperiused again and go on another one of your killing sprees?
Ld Parkinson - How dare you? I should sue you for slander!
Ld Diggory - He didn't slander you and didn't refute your claim of being previously imperiused. He just pointed out that you were previously susceptible to it.
Ld Parkinson - No he didn't. You know what he implied.
More disruption in the courtroom, but this is quickly brought back to order.
CWAD - Regardless of accusations or implications, Lord Parkinson was tried in this very courtroom and we will have no further discussion presented on the topic without evidence. As for whether or not the killed Death Eaters may have been imperiused, due to their annihilation, we will never know, they should all simply have been stunned.
Ld Greengrass - That doesn't work. Avery got right back up when he fought here because he was reennervated.
Ld Shacklebolt - Plus it doesn't matter, imperiused or not they were in immediate danger.
Ld Abbott - But yesterday if all of them had been stunned at once, like they were all killed at once, there would've been no one to wake them up.
Ld Diggory - And what would we have done with them then? Take them to Azkaban? Oh yeah, we can't because now all the Dementors are gone and there's a whacking great big hole in it.
Ld Runcorn - That doesn't make it right, they could be been innocent.
Ldy Longbottom - That's just part of war. It was in the last war. It took so long for us to realise some were being imperiused that those that had been had done so much damage regardless and now we have no room left to hold them.
Ld Bulstrode - So what, if we're imperiused and put in Death Eater robes then tough? Is it okay just to kill us?
Interim-Minister Bones - This is a war. It is kill or be killed, my family was killed in the last war and Lord Slytherin-Potter was right to do what he did. He gave the Death Eaters a choice. You all have high-quality wards, you have the ability to protect yourselves and it is your responsibility to keep yourself safe from the Imperius Curse. In fact, As Interim Minister I am allowing the use of lethal force against Death Eaters for all of my Aurors and I move that we allow our citizens to use lethal force as well, as long as their attackers are unable to escape, whether that being attacked in their own homes or the street. We will not have a group of vigilantes, but for defence, we will put them down hard.
Ldy Longbottom seconded the motion.
Ldy Longbottom - Seconded, I read Lord Slytherin-Potter's article this morning. We need to stand up for our country and fight. To the last man if we have to.
CWAD - Very well. Vote to allow lethal force in defence of inescapable life-threatening attacks from Death Eaters.
Vote percentage after adjustment for Houses of varying noble standing - 68% for, 32% against.
CWAD - Motion passed
CWAD - Now, we don't have too much time left. We must discuss yesterday's events at Azkaban and make a plan. Minister Bones, as you were head of the DMLE when it happened, please report.
Interim-Minister Bones - Yesterday at 11:30 am, the Dark Lord along with a large number of Death Eaters descended on Azkaban via boat. The Floo network was then sealed, but luckily one of the Prison Guards sent a house elf to DMLE Headquarters to inform us of the attack. We sent eighty Aurors, including myself and Lord Shacklebolt, however, we ended up having to apparate to the coast side nearest the island and use the boats to arrive. Upon our arrival, the high-security level had been completely emptied, and there was a large hole from which many were escaping. We attempted to intervene as the Dark Lord began to access the lower levels, but the Dementors had taken the Dark Lord's side. In the end, we lost twenty Aurors. 11 killed and nine kissed before we were able to pin down the Dark Lord with the arrival of the Chief Warlock, at which time the Dark Lord left himself. In total, over a hundred criminals escaped, including Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, Macnair, Dolohov, Rookwood and the three Lestranges.
Repeated calls for order
Ld Boot - But how was the Floo Network closed?
Interim-Minister Bones - We did manage to capture several Death Eaters, one of whom revealed that Madam Lillian Edgecombe, daughter of our own Lady Edgecombe was stunned and polyjuiced. As head of the Floo Network authority she ordered the network to be closed "For Maintenance" and when questioned by Aurors the fake Madame Lillian Edgecombe told them at the time that there was a problem with the network that needed to be fixed now as it was a danger to the public. The real Lillian Edgecombe's location is still unknown.
Ld Blackwood - But what can we do about this? It could easily be done again.
Interim-Minister Bones - I have already met with the Goblins, who will be assisting us in creating an authentication seal-type device so that a person's magic must be used to close the Floo network in future.
Ld Macmillan - Excellent solution Minister. What I want to know is - the attack on Diagon Alley was obviously sent as a diversion, to split our forces, but the Diagon Alley attack happened at 11:40 am, ten minutes later. Do we know what happened?
Interim-Minister Bones - We do. One of the Death Eaters involved in the Diagon Alley attack was meant to retrieve a device that the Dark Lord had placed in his vault that would overload the wards in Diagon Alley to leave the shops defenceless, but there were very long queues all day and only three carts being operated.
Ld Higgs - Lord Black, why are you laughing?
Ld Slytherin-Potter - Oh you can thank me for that. I gave Gringotts six million galleons of work on the condition they got it done in one day. They had to shut down most of the bank.
Ld Diggory - That is insanely lucky.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - You're welcome!
Laughter in the courtroom and a minute of chatter until the session is brought back to order.
Ld Shacklebolt - Azkaban will need to be repaired. Do we know how long it will take?
Interim-Minister Bones - We can have the minimum security levels available in a few weeks, but I'm afraid we're looking at up to six months before the high-security level is fit for use, and we don't yet have a replacement for the dementors.
Ld Caplan - We need more Aurors.
Interim-Minister Bones - We don't have the money. We could potentially source the equipment and uniforms cheaper but with the cost of rebuilding Azkaban, we just don't have the money to pay the wages of more staff.
Ld Black - How much do you need? Not just to hire some more staff but to take down Voldemort.
Interim-Minister Bones - Realistically, we're looking at at least ten million galleons to recruit and train new Aurors, train existing Aurors to lead teams of their own, give them all good enough equipment and pay for them.
Lord Slytherin-Potter - I'll loan it to the Ministry, that's not a problem.
Ld Bulstrode - You can't do that, you'd essentially own the law.
Ld Greengrass - He's right we have laws against that. We can donate, but only in amounts up to a hundred thousand galleons per calendar year, and there are several of us who do not have liquidated funds to afford even that.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - well what can we get together?
CWAD opens up the floor for declaration of donations, after ten minutes, the donation pot stands at 4.2 million galleons.
Interim-Minister Bones - Thank you all, it is a very good start. I will have invoices owled to your addresses in the coming days.
Ld Black - As much as I am pleased with how generous people have been, we all know how slow it can be to pass every single decision through this Wizengamot. We found out yesterday how quickly things can change. We need a new department to handle the war effort. It can be temporary and not a new tradition, but I think it is necessary to allow the Ministry to react and be proactive to changes in the war effort.
Ldy Longbottom - And what would you have this new department do?
Ld Black - Manage the war effort. Handle war-wide budgeting, and security within the ministry both with manpower and things like warding, coordinating a fast rebuild of Azkaban and finding suitable replacements for the Dementors, planning with the DMLE, assisting the main magical communities in defensive capabilities in the event of attacks, creating of propaganda to release to the public.
Ld Parkinson - Haven't you just heard, Black? We don't have the money.
Ld Black - No laws are preventing the funding of necessary new departments, it just isn't done because it's so expensive.
CWAD - He's right.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - I'd put in five million galleons.
Ld Black - I'd match it.
Ld Slytherin-Potter - And I would also be happy to help with propaganda. The public worked with me very well yesterday, my influence may make it more effective.
Ld Runcorn - A bit full of ourselves aren't we today, Lord Slytherin-Potter
Ld Slytherin-Potter - Absolutely. I have every right to be.
Ld Runcorn - Says you.
Ld Boot - A bit miffed about Lord Slytherin-Potters success yesterday are you Runcorn, were any of those Death Eaters your friends, by any chance?
Ld Runcorn - How dare you insinuate such a thing.
The chief warlock reestablished order and called for a prospective and then opened the floor for prospective donations - after ten minutes, the prospective donation pot stood at 37.5 million galleons.
Ld Selwyn - This is ridiculous, this will be the highest-funded department in the Ministry!
Ld Black - It will mean the DMLE and the war effort will get the funding it needs.
Ld Diggory - But who will head it? I nominate Lord Slytherin-Potter
Ld Slytherin-Potter - I'm flattered, Lord Diggory, but I cannot. I am happy to correspond and attend some meetings, I still need to attend Hogwarts and in between classes, I will be spending the majority of my time training to defeat the Dark Lord.
Ld Bulstrode - You can't possibly think you can defeat him.
Ld Black - I've been training him for weeks and he can already beat me now two times out of three. He could give most of us in this room a run for our money and he will be much further along than that by Yule.
Ld Bulstrode - I see.
Interim-Minister Bones - If you like, Lord Slytherin-Potter, you may use the Auror training arena and I'm sure quite a few of them would like to duel you for themselves.
Lord Slytherin-Potter - That's a generous offer, Minister, and I will take you up on that.
Lord Diggory - Still, who will lead the War Department, if that is what it will be called?
CWAD - As good a name as any. As per Ministry regulations, I and the Minister will hold interviews for the lead positions. We shall hold them in a week if the Department is agreed on as well as prepare various documents relating to the department's various jurisdictions to be presented in the September session. Now I'm afraid we've run out of time, so we will hold a vote now, those for the creation of the War Department, cast Lumos.
Vote percentage after adjustment for Houses of varying noble standing - 74% for, 26% against.
CWAD - Excellent, the War Department is hereby founded. The next wizengamot session will be held on the third of September, attendance is not compulsory but proxies must be seated. I wish you a good day and keep yourselves safe.
Wizengamot session ends at 12:08
