A few days later Skye was on a run near the compound. Since being home she had been feeling more and more overwhelmed with everything going on and was at a point where she just didn't know how to deal with her emotions other than to keep busy to keep her mind off of everything. She ran until she couldn't physically run anymore before she sat down on a bench to catch her breath.

She looked up when a teenage boy sat down next to her. She was surprised at who it was.

"Been a while," Tucker said.

"Yeah," Skye said. "Last I heard you were in juvie."

"I was, but I got out a few weeks ago," Tucker said.

"I didn't sell you out," Skye said.

"I know. I know who did, but I don't blame them," Tucker said.

"So, was finding me a coincidence or are you stalking me?" Skye asked.

"Coincidence. What are you doing around here? It's not your usual neck of the woods," Tucker said.

"Do you really not know? I figured your cousin would have told you," Skye said.

"What cousin?" Tucker asked.

"Carly," Skye said.

"You know Carly?" Tucker said.

"I can't tell if you are fucking with me or not," Skye said.

"Why would I fuck with you?" Tucker asked.

"I don't know, but recent events have made me more on guard with everyone, even people I thought I knew really well," Skye said.

"Well, I'm not trying to mess with you. I have no idea how you know Carly, but I'd like to know," Tucker said.

"I go to the same school as her," Skye said. "She somehow figured out my connection to you and for some reason thought I was the one to sell you out to the police."

Tucker rolled his eyes. "I might have mentioned your name in passing, and she figured out that somehow you ended up not going to juvie while the rest of us did."

"I got lucky," Skye said. "And, admittedly, I gave up some names. But I promise you, I didn't give up your name."

Tucker nodded. "I believe you. Like I've mentioned, I know who gave me up."

Skye nodded.

"But got lucky?" Tucker asked.

"Remember the internship I started with Steve Rogers?" Skye asked.

"Yeah," Tucker said.

"One of the stipulations of it was I stay out of trouble, and he made sure that if I got picked up by the police that he would be called. So that night he was called. He convinced the police to give me one more chance, and I was forced to give the names of the others who were there. So I got out of legal trouble, but I learned the hard way that he wouldn't let me get away with it. Not long after that, he found out I was being abused in my group home. And, around that time he and I both found out that he is my biological father. Eventually, he got custody of me, so I'm living with him now. Oh, and the way I ended up with the internship is he and one of the other Avengers saw me using super strength and tracked me down. The internship was kind of a cover to help me learn to control my abilities. You seriously didn't hear about Steve Rogers finding out about a daughter he didn't know about?" Skye asked.

Tucker was surprised. "Well, yeah, I did, but didn't know it was you. Being in Juvie I missed the major points of the story."

Skye nodded.

"That explains why you are in the same school as Carly," Tucker said.

"Yeah, there have been threats, and even attempts made to hurt me," Skye said.

Tucker nodded.

"And there has been at least one person who I thought was my friend who turned on me, which is why I don't know if I fully trust you're not trying to mess with me," Skye said.

Tucker nodded. "I promise you, I'm not. But I can tell you have changed."

"You've changed, too. I don't think I can remember the last time I saw you and you weren't high, or smoking something," Skye said.

He chuckled, "Yeah, juvie was a rude awakening."

Skye nodded.

"So, you have superpowers?" Tucker asked.

"I refer to them more as super abilities, but yeah, same ones Captain America has," Skye said.

"You actually fight with them yet?" Tucker asked.

"Once," Skye said.

"Was it awesome?" Tucker asked.

"It was, until I ended up getting knocked unconscious and ended up pretty badly hurt," Skye said.

Tucker nodded.

"I attempted to go at the bad guys alone. It didn't end the way I had thought it would," Skye said.

He nodded again. "The person who turned their back on you? Do I know them?"

Skye nodded. "Kate. She is currently sitting in jail facing big-time charges."

"She was like your sister," Tucker said.

"She was the closest thing I had to a sister, yeah," Skye said. "She got involved with a group that is hell-bent on bringing down the Avengers. Kate was planning on luring me in to get my DNA. They think if they get my DNA they will have a better chance of duplicating the super serum," Skye said.

"Damn," Tucker said. "I get why you're hesitant to trust me, or anyone for that matter."

Skye nodded. "Enough about me. How are you?"

"I'm okay, trying to get my life back on track," Tucker said.

"Any ideas how you're doing it?" Skye asked.

"Outside of staying out of trouble, no," Tucker said.

Skye nodded. "That's harder than you think."

"Yup, especially when everyone you used to be friends with are still doing the things you don't want to," Tucker said.

Skye nodded. "Yeah. I'm pretty lucky that my dad came with a family and built-in friends. And a new school with people who didn't know my past, so they were willing to be my friends."

"But Carly isn't one of them?" Tucker asked.

"No, she didn't like me from day one. I don't know exactly how she knew who I was right off the bat like that, but she did. And before the end of the year there was a confrontation," Skye said.

"How bad?" Tucker asked.

"Well, the Dean intervened before it got too far," Skye said.

"Yeah, she has never learned how to play nice with people outside of her close friend group," Tucker said.

"Not surprising," Skye said. "But she seemed very protective of you."

"Yeah, I don't know why she thinks she needs to," Tucker said. "I will talk to her."

"No, it's okay. We agreed to be civil," Skye said.

Tucker nodded.

"I don't need you to get involved and cause there to be another issue this year. I just want a peaceful year," Skye said.

"Okay, I'll stay out of it," Tucker said.

Skye nodded. "Give me your phone."

Tucker did so, and Skye put her number in. "If you are fucking with me, I promise it won't end well for you. But, if not, you have my number. We should hang out sometime."

Tucker chuckled and nodded. "Understood."

"I should go. I'm sure someone will come looking for me if I'm not home soon," Skye said.

"It was good seeing you, Skye," Tucker said.

"Good seeing you too, Tuck," she said before she got up and walked back home. When she got inside. she went to the kitchen and got a bottle of water from the fridge. She started to chug it while standing with the fridge open.

"Get what you need and close the door," Nat told her as she came into the kitchen.

Skye moved away and let the door close behind her.

"How was your run?" Nat asked.

"Good," Skye said.

"How far did you run?" Nat asked.

"Couple miles each way," Skye said.

"That's pretty intense for someone who doesn't run often," Nat said.

Skye shrugged. "I ran til I couldn't run anymore and then took a break before coming back."

Nat nodded. "You have been keeping yourself busy since you got home."

"Yeah, well, I want to enjoy the little bit of summer I have left," Skye said.

"You sure that's the only reason?" Nat said.

"What other reason do you think it is?" Skye asked.

"You trying to keep your mind busy so you don't have to deal with your feelings," Nat said.

"Nope," Skye said, lying.

"Okay, if you say so," Nat said.

"Hey, you know how to hack into things, right?" Skye asked.

"I do," Nat said cautiously.

"If I give you a name, can you look into him and make sure he isn't somehow connected with Civicmax or Hydra?" Skye asked.

"Who he is?" Nat asked.

"Someone I used to know in foster care. His name is Tucker. That night that my dad picked me up from the police station when I gave up names, he was involved but his was the only name I didn't give up. Someone else did. Anyway, I ran into him today when I was taking a break from my run, and we talked for a while. I gave him my number. I just want to make sure I'm not walking into some trap," Skye said.

Nat nodded. "Give me his full name. I will look into him."

"Tucker Nelson," Skye said.

"Okay, I'll look into it," Nat said.

Skye thanked Nat, took her water, and went to her room.

Nat went and started to look into this boy.

The next day Skye was in the gym punching at a punching bag. She had earbuds in her ear and was listening to music, so she hadn't heard someone else come into the room.

Dr. Banner went into the room and saw the girl going at a punching bag like it had personally attacked her. He decided to leave her be. He started to run on the treadmill in the room.

Skye continued to punch until she tired herself out. She went and grabbed her water bottle from a bench on the side of the room and took a drink. She noticed Dr. Banner and took out one of her earbuds and said hello.

"Hi Skye," he said as he got off the treadmill.

"Can I ask you something?" Skye asked.

Bruce nodded. "Of course."

"You tend to turn into the Hulk when you are angry, right?" Skye asked.

"Yeah, although I'm able to control it more now than I could in the beginning," Bruce said.

"How do you control it?" Skye asked.

"You mean my anger or my turning into the Hulk?" He asked.

"The anger," Skye said.

"Meditation is a big help, why?" Bruce asked.

"I've just been so overwhelmed with everything going on, and I'm tired of feeling certain feelings," Skye said.

"Skye, feeling your feelings isn't a bad thing, I have to be careful only because of what it can cause me to do," Dr. Banner said.

"Well, if I don't do something I'm going to snap. I might not turn in a big green guy, but that doesn't mean I won't do something I shouldn't," Skye admitted.

Bruce nodded. "I'm impressed that you are realizing it before you do something."

Skye nodded.

"Or have you already done something?" Banner asked.

Skye smiled. "No."

"Good, I can teach you how to meditate if you would like," Bruce said.

Skye nodded. "Please."

"Okay, tomorrow morning," Banner said.

"Okay, thank you. I'll let you get back to what you were doing," she said before she left the room and went upstairs.
