Author's Note: Hello! This'll be an OC/Marvel fic, as you probably already know. My interactions with the characters here are rather limited compared to some people I know, so if anybody has any tips, they'd be appreciated.
I will try to stick to what I know about the characters, but I can't promise anything.
The X-men who appear here will be akin to those of X-Men Evolution. The Avengers will also be making an appearance.
My sources are rather jumbled due to the history of these heroes being so long. Any dates, unless otherwise noted, are completely made up off the top of my head or whatever vague source I could find.
I will try to update continuously, but I can't promise a consistent schedule as with my other two stories, as writing three stories at once can possibly be quite tiresome. But I'll try my best.
If you like this, please review/comment. I read all of them on my other stories and I love them.
Enjoy the chapter!
.
It was a quiet evening in Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and the members of the school ate dinner while chatting amongst themselves.
Near the head of the table sat the professors, Charles Xavier, Ororo Munroe, and Logan, discussing their plans for the students.
Further down the table sat Scott Summers, Jean Gray, Kurt Wagner AKA Nightcrawler, Kitty Pride, Evan Daniels AKA Spike, and Anna Marie AKA Rogue, holding only mild conversation between themselves.
Ororo was just standing to leave when the mansion began to tremble violently, startling everyone inside.
"Professor!" Scott exclaimed. "We're under attack!"
Charles went to agree but paused, Cerebro wasn't sounding any alarms.
"It isn't an attack," He said, confused. "It… It isn't an earthquake either."
The shaking intensified, seemingly crawling toward the dining room where the X-Men sat.
"Are you sure, professor?" Jean half-yelled.
"If it isn't, what is it?" Logan demanded, claws out.
Charles' eyes widened as the shaking centered on the dining room, but not in the walls, floor, or ceiling; the air was trembling.
Ororo noticed it too. "Is… There's something tearing through!"
The X-Men turned to the now centralized shaking at the head of the table, armed and ready when the trembling suddenly stopped.
A moment later, a dark portal opened, cloudy within and impossible to look into.
"What the–" Logan asked as a young woman walked out of the portal.
The woman was tall with reddish-brown hair, round glasses, metal gauntlets, a chest plate, and leggings, leather armor underneath.
The portal closed behind her, something she seemingly didn't notice as she typed away on a holographic screen hovering above her right gauntlet.
"You would think that ride would be smoother," The woman muttered in a low, smooth voice.
"Excuse me?" Charles asked. "May I ask what you're doing here?"
The woman looked up, seemingly unfazed at the X-Men standing there, ready to attack at a moment's notice.
"I'll answer that if you answer two of my questions," The woman replied calmly, "What year is it and do you know who the Hunters are?"
Charles blinked. "It's November 15, 2000, and no, I'm afraid I don't know of these 'Hunters.' Now, may you please tell me what you're doing here?"
The woman shrugged. "I'm a refugee from an alternate universe where my Earth was overtaken by a tyrannical, meta-human hunting government. May I stay here?"
Charles blinked as he felt a mental probe, compelling him to agree and give the young woman in front of her a place to stay.
"Ma'am, while I understand you might do what you need to in order to survive, I will ask you not to use your telepathy on me to do so," Charles stated firmly. "You will not like the outcome."
The young woman raised an eyebrow. "Surprised you felt it, most telepaths can't tell."
Charles offered her a smile. "You will find that I am not most telepaths."
"We really about to offer this girl a home?" Logan asked. "You know she could be lying, right?"
"I'd honestly rather kill you," The woman admitted, much to the shock of everyone there. "And trust me, if I wanted to, there's nothing stopping me from doing so."
She cocked her head somewhat. "Enhanced strength and speed, retractable metal claws, and a healing factor. Quite a kit you've got there."
Logan and Charles tensed, feeling the woman suddenly become a much bigger threat.
Charles cleared his throat. "Do not use telepathy on the people of this mansion, please. There are quite a few countermeasures here."
"Oh, I didn't," The woman told them. "I just scanned him."
"Scan?" Charles asked. "How?"
The woman tapped her glasses. "I understand the meta-human ability of everyone in this room, and trust me when I say that, if I wanted to, I could beat all of you in a fight."
She shrugged. "Only one I'm wary of is the goddess–" She pointed to Ororo. "–And for reasons I won't disclaim."
Ororo looked at her quizzically. "How did you know I was once worshipped as a goddess? Do your glasses tell you such information as well?"
The woman blinked. "Oh, no. You're just gorgeous and have weather powers so, uhh, it isn't hard to make the connection. I was going to ask if these–" She gestured to the X-Men. "–were your worshippers."
Ororo's lips twitched. "No, I've left that life behind me quite some time ago."
The woman gave a hefty sigh. "Shame, I was going to ask for a pamphlet."
Charles cleared his throat, suddenly realizing how at ease this woman, who had just said she could kill them, made them feel and wondered if it was her mutant ability.
'It isn't telepathy, I can't detect anything,' He wondered. 'Telepathy and a calming field? Quite a powerful combination. Her tech is advanced; whoever she is, she isn't one to be taken lightly.'
"Excuse me, but may I ask your name?" He asked, putting his mental shields on max, just in case.
The woman's lips twitched, and she nodded. "You may."
"Relax, relax," She said as Charles went to respond. "It's Ercasi Mikrai. Pleased to meet you."
Ercasi gave a small bow, winking at Ororo as she stood, much to her amusement.
"Well, I'm Ororo Munroe, also known as Storm," Ororo introduced herself. "I'm a teacher here at this school."
Ercasi's immediate pun on Storm's name stopped in her throat as Ororo mentioned it was a school.
"This is a school?" She asked, looking around and up. "Seems kind of… over the top, don't you think?"
She paused, biting her lip. "Eh, well. Don't really have room to talk," She shrugged. "I was taught by monks at a temple."
Ercasi looked back at Logan and Charles and gestured to them with her pointer and middle finger.
"Those two teachers too?" She asked Ororo.
"I'm Charles Xavier, head of this school," Charles told her. "This is Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters."
Ercasi paused. "Well, that makes you sound fifty," She said before turning and pointing at Logan. "What about that one?"
"He's also a teacher here," Charles said. "He teaches physical education and hand-to-hand combat."
"Hm, cool," Ercasi replied before vaguely gesturing to the X-Men. "Students?"
"Quite capable ones, yes," Charles told her with a nod.
Ercasi looked vaguely amused at that but said nothing about it.
"So, does that mean I can stay here?" She asked, somewhat pointedly. "I don't have anywhere else to go."
"You gonna cause another shaking like earlier?" Logan asked.
Ercasi raised an eyebrow. "Shaking?"
"The rather violent trembling that happened right before you arrived," Charles explained. "It caught us quite off guard, and we'd prefer if you didn't do it again."
Ercasi's brows furrowed. "Trembl– OH, this?"
She tapped her screen, filled with symbols only she could understand, and pointed it at the space where the last portal had been.
The trembling began again and died a moment later as Ercasi tapped her screen, frowning.
She sighed. "Sorry about that. I didn't realize the outer aspects of my portal were wonky. I'll fix it when I can."
"If I could ask, where does that portal lead?" Charles asked, somewhat curious.
"Oh, Negative Zone," Ercasi replied. "Got trapped in there after some shenanigans, made this thing–" She gestured to her armor and gauntlet. "–to move around and such."
"You made a portable portal to the Negative Zone?" Charles asked, his eyebrows shooting up. Reed Richards would love to see that.
"Yeah?" Ercasi half-asked as a reply. "Isn't the best I've made, but I only had stolen scraps to work with for most of it."
She shrugged. "So, now that we've insured I don't cause any trembling, can I stay?"
Charles noted the Negative Zone part in the back of his mind for later. Reed would probably love to meet the woman.
He nodded. "You may. All our students are enrolled in the local high school, Bayville High, and we can enroll you there quite quickly."
"Yeah… hell no," Ercasi replied blandly. "I graduated high school at 5 in my old world. I'm not doing it again."
"Very well," Charles replied. "You may stay here at the mansion as long as you do some work around for food and lodge."
Ercasi blinked. "I can teach basically anything, and I mean that. I can improve your tech, suits, weaponry, and so on. Doesn't matter how good you think it is, I can make it better."
Charles raised an eyebrow. "That's… quite a prideful statement."
"And I can back it up," Ercasi replied, crossing her arms. "Gimme a piece of tech, anything. Like, right now, and watch."
Curious, Ororo took out her phone and handed it to Ercasi, who grinned.
"Oh, piece of cake," She muttered before tapping her holographic screen.
A few seconds passed of Ercasi typing on her holographic screen, and then on Ororo's phone, muttering to herself.
She laid the phone flat over her screen, and another screen appeared above the phone which Ercasi quickly typed into.
"There," She said, handing the phone back to Ororo with an eager grin. "Try it."
Ororo blinked in surprise as she went through her phone. The device was incredibly quick now, apparently had ten times the storage, and was somehow fully charged when it hadn't been before.
"Tap the screen while it's flat on your palm," Ercasi suggested.
Ororo did so, doing a double take as a 3D holograph appeared above her phone, and her eyebrows shot up as she realized it was fully interactive.
"You did this in a few seconds?" Ororo asked in astonishment.
Ercasi grinned. "Told you. I got a PhD in computer engineering at 9 under a fake name. I know what I'm doing."
Charles looked on, intrigued by Ercasi's capabilities. An engineer of that caliber would certainly help ensure the students' safety when out on the field.
Ororo tapped the phone again, watching as the hologram phased back into the phone.
"I'm intrigued by how you charged it," She said, looking over the phone. "I didn't see a cable."
Ercasi flushed a little. "Well, that wasn't really me charging it. I just switched out the battery for one of my own. It'll last longer than the old one."
"Oh?" Ororo raised an eyebrow. "How long?"
"About a month," Ercasi replied honestly. "It'll charge from 0 to 100 in about five minutes, give or take ten seconds. It's pretty efficient."
Charles, Ororo and even Logan looked surprised at that, and several of the teens wondered if they could get Ercasi to upgrade their phones too.
"That's rather impressive, Miss Mikrai," Charles praised. "You are welcome here as long as you wish. Though, I do have to ask you something."
"Shoot," Ercasi replied.
"Would you be willing to join our X-Men?" Charles asked, gesturing to Ororo, Logan, and the students.
"And that is?" Ercasi raised an eyebrow.
"A group I have put together to fight the growing mutant issue," Charles explained. "More and more mutants are on the rise and sentiments against them with it. The X-Men fight to keep the peace between mutants and non-mutants, to ensure a future of peace between the groups."
"Hm," Ercasi replied, her eyes scanning the X-Men. "Is anyone forced to join?"
"No, all of the X-Men join under their free will," Charles replied.
Ercasi made a noise of recognition. "How old are your child soldiers?"
Charles stiffened, but Ercasi waved him off.
"I don't have an issue with them, I was one," Ercasi told him. "Me and my brother."
She quickly explained a bit about the Hunters, how they persecuted meta-humans to experiment on them and turn them into mindless soldiers, and how she and her brother were among the last surviving meta-humans in the world who hadn't been captured or killed.
Logan watched Ercasi with newfound respect. He knew the look in her eyes, it was the look of a soldier, of someone who'd killed and watched people be killed, and of someone who could do it again.
'She's young,' He thought as Ercasi spoke. 'Doesn't look much older than Summers and Gray, but she definitely sounds it. No kid wet behind the ears speaks and stands like she does.'
As Ercasi finished speaking, Charles nodded. This was perfect; Ercasi had fought against terrorism and meta-human erasure before, so she already knew their mission and agreed with it.
Her method, though, of killing instead of capture, was concerning. Charles could see why, of course, being hunted like that with nobody to help drove people to some horrible things. But he hoped he could teach Ercasi that things weren't like that here and that she didn't need to take lives.
Ercasi, meanwhile, was keenly watching them as she spoke.
Apart from Ororo and Logan, everyone seemed somewhat queasy at her mention of killing, including Charles.
That worried her. It was good to be hopeful and all, but trying to preserve one's idea of moral superiority by not killing only led to more destruction if one didn't know where to draw the line.
If Charles knew that or had taught his students to recognize the difference, Ercasi would gladly join up in full. But if he didn't and hadn't, Ercasi would teach them herself or leave once she'd gathered her bearings– no matter how beautiful Ororo was.
Ororo eventually led Ercasi up to her new room, chatting idly about random things until they entered the hall meant for female teachers.
"You mentioned a brother," Ororo said as they walked. "Where is he?"
Ercasi's eyes turned stony for a moment, and much to her shock, Ororo could hear the crash of thunder outside.
Ercasi shook her head. "Sorry about that. I forgot that happens," She said and the brewing storm calmed.
"You have the same powers as I?!" Ororo asked, both shocked and elated to potentially have someone to relate to.
"Ehh, not exactly," Ercasi said, looking away.
She sighed. "I can mimic meta-human abilities. The more I understand them, the stronger the mimic."
Ororo looked at her curiously. "We have a student like that. Her name is Rouge."
"The one who can absorb powers through touch?" Ercasi asked, getting a nod. "Well, it's not exactly that. I don't drain anybody, or absorb memories or life force. I'm essentially like a mirror to put it simply."
"That's quite interesting," Ororo said, head somewhat tilted. "Is that why you have your glasses?"
"Yeah," Ercasi lied easily. "Helps me learn what powers to mimic. It's pretty useful."
They arrived at a room down the hall from Ororo's, which was empty except for a bed left of the door, a small rug, and a dresser.
It was quite spacious, with a large window on the wall opposite to the bed and a small walk-in closet on the wall opposite to the door.
"This is where you'll be staying," Ororo told her. "You can decorate it as you wish as long as you don't disturb anybody else doing so. My room is down the hall."
"Am I allowed to visit?" Ercasi asked with a lopsided grin.
Ororo's lips twitched. "Depends. We'll see."
"That isn't a no," Ercasi told her, much to Ororo's amusement.
Ororo left Ercasi in her room, walking back to hers with quiet amusement.
It was only after she was getting ready to go to bed that she realized that Ercasi hadn't answered anything about her brother.
.
Author's Note: And that's the first chapter! I tried to make it good based on my vague memories of X-Men evolution; I hope I did it justice.
Those who've read my MHA story will be familiar with Marvin Mikrai, Ercasi's brother. Ercasi is called Rinai there, as that was Marvin's nickname for her; they're the same person, though.
This story will be Ercasi/Storm, as you can see. But that'll be later.
For those wondering about Ercasi's abilities/stats, I'll leave them here.
Name: Ercasi Marlene Mikrai
Age: 20 years
Birthday: April 13th
Hair color: Reddish-brown
Eye color: Golden brown
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 165lbs
Mutant Classification: Omega
Ercasi Mikrai is a mutant from Earth-01172024 in the year 2020. Her abilities include omniscience, technomancy, power mimicry, and enhanced healing.
Intelligence: 7
Strength: 4
Speed: 5
Durability: 4
Energy Projection: 6
Fighting Skill: 7
Ercasi holds the capacity to become omniscient when fully rested or calm. Outside of that, Ercasi was the smartest person in her home world, could control any piece of technology in existence, hack into anywhere, and invent technologies that break the laws of physics.
The battery she put into Ororo's phone is an example of this; it's an anti-matter battery that should explode the moment it touches matter, but it doesn't thanks to Ercasi's skill.
Ercasi can also mimic the powers of those she sees and understands. She fully understands how to use the power once mimicked. The mimicked ability will not hold the same capacity as the original, nor will it be fully like the original.
Her mimicking Ororo's power means she can create small storms and summon lightning bolts, but not to the degree Ororo can.
She's also mimicked Marvin's Dominance Factor (Those from my MHA story will understand) but changed it to calm people down instead of scaring them.
Ercasi also has mimicked several other powers, including telepathy, healing, super strength, and speed.
Ercasi is also her world's best combatant, only rivaled by her brother, Marvin. She created her own martial art called Mirror Fist.
Mirror Fist copies an opponent's moves exactly and then reverses them, resulting in the opponent hitting themselves whenever they attack. If you've watched One Punch Man, it's essentially Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist, but more aggressive.
There's more to Ercasi's abilities; she can mix her technomancy and omniscience to hack into the very universe and change the laws of reality, for example. But if I sat here and explained everything she could do, this AN would be over 2k words long.
I know cause I have a separate Google doc with all of her stats, weaknesses, and so on, that's 2.5k words long, and that's not including the bits about her personality and whatnot.
Is she technically OP as shit? Yeah, yeah, she is. Especially for the time period in which I've set her, but she has a few crippling weaknesses that'll become apparent as the story moves forward, which will balance it out some.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'll see you in the next one!
