Kuri was in the middle of True Cross Town, when a boy was struck down by some kind of monster. The boy was her age, with black hair and striking blue eyes. Oh, That was Rin Okumura! She'd seen him around.
Kuri grabbed him and pulled him away from the monster, panting. "Ouch. You ok?"
Rin groaned. "Y-Yea. What about you?"
"I-I think so…" Kuri picked up a sword wrapped in a red bag. "It fell off your back."
"Oh! Thanks." Rin took it from her. "You're not hurt?"
"I-I don't think so." Kuri checked herself. "It barely missed me."
Suddenly the demon struck out at them, but then recoiled after scratching Kuri, and flailed, trying to get the blood off itself.
Kuri wiped the blood off her arm. It was silver. "What the…"
Rin unsheathed the sword and got in front of Kuri. "Hey! Leave her alone!"
"No! Don't do that! Rin! That monster will kill you!"
Rin paused. "You…think that's a monster?"
"I…I…" Kuri edged back, afraid. "Rin…It…he hurt me. That's why he's a monster. I don't care what he looks like. He's a monster because of the choice he made."
Rin sadly unsheathed his sword and transformed into his demon form, attacking the demon.
Kuri watched the demon coming behind Rin for a surprise attack. "Rin look out!" Her hands flew out and she blasted the demon with silver energy. "Rin! Are you ok?" She hugged him. "I was so scared!"
Rin hugged her and then held her at arms length. "Kuri?! Did you just? How did you do that?"
"I'm a priestess." Kuri explained. "I've never used my power like that before. By the way. You make an awesome mon—demon. Is that right? You're a demon?"
"Yes." Rin nodded. "I'm a demon. Not a monster."
