Chapter One: A Night of Frights
The moon shined bright on a dark night in the Pride Lands, and the stars twinkled in the night sky. At Rafiki's tree, the Lion Guard, Bongo—the mischievous baby baboon and Fuli's best friend—Asha, his little sister, Mtoto the young elephant, a young female hare, and a young male rhino, were gathered, listening to a scary story told by Bobo, Bongo's older twin brother.
Asha snuggled close to Bongo, while he sat next to Fuli, who was lying down comfortably. Kion and Bunga sat together, while Ono perched on Beshte's back. The group listened intently as Bobo spun his tale.
Bobo: "There was a hyrax, just minding his own business, chewing on some grubs. But then he heard a sound coming from the bushes." He began.
Everyone leaned closer, captivated by the unfolding story.
Bobo: "The hyrax ignored it at first, but then he heard growling coming from the bushes. The hyrax's heart started beating faster. So, the little hyrax started running for its life." He continued.
Beshte: "Oh no." Beshte murmured, wide-eyed.
Bobo: "He ran and ran, and he didn't look back. He just kept running until he found himself cornered." He nodded.
Ono: "Cornered?" He asked, perched a little higher in curiosity.
Bobo: "Yes. He tried desperately looking for a way out, but he couldn't escape." He said dramatically.
Bongo: "And then?" Bongo asked, leaning forward.
Bobo: "And then, he turned around and saw what was chasing him. It was the most terrifying animal he could ever see." He smiled mysteriously.
Bunga: "What did he see?" Bunga asked, excitement buzzing in his voice.
Bobo: "It was... a hungry hyena!" He revealed with a grin.
Asha: *baby voice* "A h-h-hyena?" Her eyes widened, and she whispered.
Bobo: "Yes. The hyrax was frozen in fear, unable to move or scream. All he could do was stare into the eyes of the hyena, who was smiling at him." He confirmed ominously.
Bunga: "Ooh, this is getting good." Bunga said, bouncing slightly.
Fuli: "Shhh. I want to know how it ends." She whispered with a smile, flicking her tail in amusement.
Bobo: "The hyena crept closer... and closer towards the hyrax until..." He paused, letting the tension build as everyone leaned in.
Bobo: "HE ATE HIM!" He yelled suddenly.
Bongo and Asha: "AHHHHH!" They screamed, jumping up in terror and immediately climbing on top of Fuli.
Bongo clutched her fur while Asha buried her face into Fuli's back.
Fuli: "Hehe." She chuckled softly.
Bobo: "The End." He grinned and leaned back.
Fuli: "You guys okay?" She asked, looking at Bongo and Asha.
Bongo: "Y-y-yeah, I'm fine." He tried to play it cool.
Asha, on the other hand, just shook her head, still too scared to speak.
Kion: "Wow, nice story, Bobo." He praised.
Bobo: "I hope I didn't scare you guys too much." He smirked.
Ono: "Not at all." He said confidently.
Beshte: "I was only a little scared." Beshte admitted.
Despite their brave faces, Bongo, Asha, and the younger animals were all visibly shaking, though Asha seemed the most frightened of all.
Fuli: "Eh, it wasn't that scary." She waved her paw, looking unconvinced.
Bongo: "Are you kidding? I almost peed myself!" He exclaimed, making Fuli smile.
Bunga: "Well, since I'm the bravest, I'm not scared at all." He puffed out his chest.
Asha: *baby voice* "Well, I'm scared." She spoke, still trembling.
Mtoto: "Me too." He agreed, huddling closer to the group.
Rhino: "Now I'm really scared," He admitted, shuffling nervously.
Hare: "You don't have to tell me twice," She added, ears flattened against her head.
Bobo: "Anyone else want to tell a scary story?" He stretched.
Mtoto: "Um, Bobo, I think we've heard enough scary stories for one night." He shook his head.
Hare: "I don't think I can take another one." She nodded vigorously.
Bongo: "Asha's already scared as it is." He agreed, glancing down at Asha curled up next to him.
Rafiki, who had been quietly observing, suddenly spoke up.
Rafiki: "Have I got a scary story to tell?" He smiles mischievously.
Kion: "Really, you do?" He perked up.
Rafiki's eyes twinkled with mystery, his voice lowering.
Rafiki: "Yes, but I must warn you... it is much scarier than Bobo's story." He said this with an air of both excitement and caution, causing a ripple of anticipation among the group.
Bobo: "Pffft, I doubt it. I bet it's not going to scare me." He scoffed playfully.
Rafiki: "Oh, trust me, young one. You will get scared." He raised an eyebrow, his smile deepening.
Bobo: "Bring it on, Rafiki." He puffed out his chest confidently.
Rafiki: "Everyone, gather round." He chuckled softly.
The group huddled together, but Bobo remained defiant, sure he wouldn't be scared. Yet, as Rafiki prepared to tell his story, the night seemed to grow darker, and a chill swept through the air.
