So I ended up rewatching the Sodor Dark Times trilogy and came up with this idea involving Caitlin and Emily. This takes place after Toby is taken in by the LNER. Needless to say this will be rated M for major character death. Enjoy!

That's right...puff away you mongrel... THEY CAN'T HOLD EMILY STERLING!

Somewhere on the LNER... Out of the shadows of a shed come a Sterling Single, looking sad and forlorn. Next to her is another distraught engine. A streamlined B P-7.

Emily sighed. "Henry was my world. My Universe. I miss him beyond words. Beyond feeling. Oh my forlorn heart..."

After some silence, Caitlin replied. "Gordon was mine too, but I can't help but want vengeance. Hell hath no fury than a woman scorned...Alfred may be dead, but those wretched cousins of his are still alive...they are going to pay... THEY'LL PAY!"

"We need a plan dear sister..." Emily replied.

"We'll get them like he got our family... Gunpowder.." Caitlin responded, a sinister grin on her face.

The two looked at each other. They both knew that this would mean returning to Sodor. It would be dangerous, but it also meant avenging their lovers.

"Let's meet Molly at Crewe. We go in together." Caitlin stated bravely.

Emily grew concerned. She knew Molly was far too sensitive for this task. She'd falter and they both knew it, however they knew she had one thing neither Emily nor Caitlin had: Intel. Molly is indeed sensitive and can be emotional, but she's also wise. She used this perceived weakness of hers to take advantage of Alfreds cousins, whom had by now taken over the island. Even they couldn't resist her sad, forlorn look.

Crewe Day 1

Molly arrived shortly after Caitlin and Emily, with a few gunpowder vans in tow.

"You sly dog. You're a genius!" Emily praised Molly.

Molly smiled sheepishly before running off and hiding the gunpowder in a siding. Now would be the time she'd typically go find a shed to hide in and ponder over the lost Edward. She was his rare and radiant maiden much like Emily was to Henry, and Caitlin to Gordon.

Molly returned a short time later. She was understandably sad and she did cry. They all did. Toby, unbeknownst to them, was in a siding nearby and overheard their plan. He too wanted to avenge his friends and knew that his beloved Mavis, was somewhere on that island. Whether she had been picked off or not was a mystery, but he knew that now was the time to find out. Now was the time to fight back. Now was the time to reclaim what was rightfully theirs.

"Hey ladies, mind if I join you guys? Sodor was my home, and I think it's time I go back, besides there's someone there that may or may not be alive. She's very near and dear to my heart." Toby asked curiously.

Emily perked up. "Absolutely Toby. And that special someone, am I correct in assuming that is Mavis?" Emily inquired.

"Why yes, yes it is." Toby smiled. He was still a bit curious though.

"Have any of you heard anything from her? or Henrietta?" Toby began to panic. He needed to know if they were alive. If they were safe.

Emily and Caitlin both sighed, a meek expression on their faces. "No unfortunately. We haven't been back to the island since the railway closed."

Molly chimed in too. "And I haven't been anywhere near Ffarquhar. They have that side of the island heavily guarded. Whatever they have hiding there we need to find out. "

Toby sighed, a frown taking his face. He looked like he was going to cry.

"It's alright Toby. We'll find her if it's the last thing we do." Emily smiled. A sad smile.

Toby smiled, reassured a bit.

The four of them decided to stay in Crewes works sheds for the night as it was nearby. Later in the night, someone else entered the sheds. This awoke Caitlin. She opened her eyes to see none other than The Flying Scotsman himself next to her. She tried to go back to sleep but couldn't. Eventually the A1 spoke.

"You look familiar, yet I've never seen you around here. What's your name?" Scott asked.

"Caitlin." Caitlin replied quietly, not wanting to wake the others.

"Ah. You were Gordon's girlfriend, weren't you?" Scott inquired out of curiosity. whilst he knew his brother well and had heard of Caitlin in passing, he had never actually seen her before.

Caitlin gasped. "Y-you're the Flying Scotsman!"

"Indeed I am. You can call me Scott. Gordon has told me all about you." Scott smiled. He then sighed, recalling the heartbreak of losing his only surviving brother.

"The hero of Sodor, and...the love of my life..." Caitlin sighed.

"Indeed..."Scott sighed. He paused to collect his thoughts before he continued.

"I'd like to join you guys on your journey back to Sodor. Gordon was my only brother. He's a hero, but he shouldn't have had to do what he did. I'd like to finish the job." Scott spoke.

Caitlin agreed. They'd discuss further in the morning with the others.

Crewe Day 2

The engines awoke early that morning. They were delighted to see Scott again. Nevertheless, they devised a plan.

"If we fill up on coal and water now, we should be able to make it to Barrow by sunset." Toby chimed in.

"Where should we put the gunpowder? We don't want it in the station in case something bad happens..." Asked Molly worriedly.

"I know just the spot. They'll hopefully be safe there." Toby added.

"For everyone's safety should all go together so we don't lose one another. We definitely will need each other." Stated Scott.

"Caitlin should be up front to avoid her from messing up her skirt." Remarked Emily, recalling the time she saved Caitlin from a nasty accident when her brakes failed in Ulfstead.

"I'll be in the back." Emily volunteered. The back of the cavalcade would be the closest to the gunpwder vans, but Emily was brave. She was willing to sacrifice her life for the others.

"I know some engines in Barrow. Hopefully they'll have a shed for us to stay in." Added Scott.

And with that, they left the sheds together, filled up with coal and water, and headed off toward Barrow-In-Furness.

Barrow-In-Furness Day 1

The engines filed into the station in the early hours of the evening. Several B12s caught their attention, but Scott reassured everyone that they were friendly unlike their brother, in fact they resented Alfred and all he had done. All the innocent lives taken in his reign of terror.

After some negotiation with Scott, the 3 B12s and a C1 Atlantic agreed to let the four engines stay the night in their sheds.

"So,you guys are Sudrian right?" One asked as they bedded down for the night.

"Yes..." Stated Emily, still weary of the B12s.

"We were assigned tasks on the mainland during the time...you know..." Caitlin added.

"Ah. A true tragedy it was...not only for you guys but Us too. Alfred has cast a shadow upon our entire class. No one wants us, in fact most railways would rather scrap us than deal with the shame." Another one added.

"By the way, my name is Dmitri." One stated.

"And I'm Isaac." Another added.

"This here is Blight. He hasn't talked much since Alfreds bombing spree. We think he might have PTSD." Dmitri explained.

"He lost two of his best friends, Cecil and Alaric in the attacks." Isaac explained.

Blight stood there, looking as if he was on the verge of tears.

"Its getting late, we aught to get some rest." Scott observed.

And with that they all went to sleep.

Barrow-In-Furness Day 2

The engines awoke early in the moment to re-evaluate their plan.

"If they see you guys they'll suspect something is up so I think its best if we go in one at a time. I'll go first so they don't suspect anything." Explained Molly.

"I'm quite nervous about us going in one at a time..." Scott voiced his concern.

"From what I've gathered, a majority of them are on the west side of the Island. They're hiding something in Ffarquahr, they obviously want to keep Knapford, Wellsworth, and Tidmouth guarded because those are their biggest sheds and stations, and I suspect Brendam is where they get most of their gunpowder." Molly explained.

"So if we meet at Vicarstown we should be safe?" Asked Emily.

"Yes. We should be. If everything goes to plan." Molly assured.

"So, Molly is going in first. Who goes next?" inquired Scott.

"I will." Volunteered Toby.

"Alright, I'll go in after Toby, and that leaves Emily and Caitlin to go in last. That's settled then." Finished Scott.

Little did they know Blight overheard the entire plan, and he had a plan of his own.

Molly left Mid-morning without a hunch, Toby took off in the early afternoon, Scott later in the afternoon, Emily in the early evening, and by late evening Caitlin idled in the station. Caitlin was preparing to leave when she felt someone buffer up and couple to her. Caught off guard, she looked back to see a familiar B12 with the gunpowder vans they left in the siding on their first day in Barrow.

"Blight! What are you doing here?" Caitlin exclaimed. She was understandably annoyed but also anxious. Not only did this throw a wrench in the plan, but she knew he was vulnerable. He had no voice.

Blight smiled, a sweet and charming smile, yet also a brave one. It reminded her of Gordon and how brave he was. This reassured Caitlin that he knew what he was doing.

Caitlin smiled, feeling ready. "Alright, if you insist. Are you ready to go fast?" Caitlin asked the tan B12.

Blights' smile grew wider. He was excited. The two soon embarked for Vicarstown.

Sodor Day 1: Vicarstown

Blight and Caitlin pulled into Vicarstown sheds around 8 o'clock that night. They found Emily facing the back wall of the shed which felt odd, until Caitlin saw what she was looking at.

A picture of a familiar green engine hung on the wall. It was a beautiful photograph of Henry, a warm smug smile on his face. Candles were gathered on the floor. This was the place Henry was brought in an attempt to save his life, unfortunately to no avail as he was gone almost instantly.

Emily was of course in tears. She quietly let her emotoins out.

To everyones surprise, Caitlins' driver jumped down from her cab and made her way over to Emily. He jumped up onto her front runner board and gently wiped away her tears. He nuzzled up close to her like he had seen her do with Henry many times. This calmed Emily. "Th-thank you..." She whimpered.

Caitlins' driver smiled. "He's within our hearts. Always."

Eventually the engines once again fell asleep.

Emily drifted into a dream.

It was bright. Very bright. She saw Henry, her beloved boyfriend. She wanted so desperately for him to be real.

He then spoke with a gentle smile. "Emily, oh Emily, my beautiful Emily, Fight for me, my dear one, fight for us. Now is our time. I'll see you soon, my emerald angel."

Caitlin too, had drifted into a dream. Similar to Emilys' dream, It was incredibly bright. She then saw her beloved Gordon, the one who loved her for who she was, despite her high strung nature and endless energy.

"Caitlin, my love, be brave, be strong, take back our home, and follow your heart. I love you endlessly." The big blue A1 said sweetly.

Molly had the same dream. Bright and heavenly as if she was no longer here on this earth.

Edward appeared out of the light.

"Molly, my beautiful ray of sunshine, you have been so courageous my dear, and I am so incredibly proud of you my love. Keep fighting for me. For us." The old wise sage smiled as he too faded.

Scott also had this dream.

Out of the brightness came none other than his brother. "Brother, I am so proud of you. You're not only fast, but brave and courageous too. I'm sorry I never saw that in you during my time on earth. Watch over Caitlin for me." Gordon smiled.

Blight too had this dream. Out of the light came his two best friends Alaric and Cecil.

"Keep fighting. I'm proud of you buddy." Alaric said.

"Go get em' Blight!" Cecil encouraged.

Sodor Day 2: Vicarstown

"So where do we go from here?" Asked an incredibly anxious Toby.

"We can try for Wellsworth, but Brendam is probably our safest option, for today at least so we can scope things out." Replied Molly.

"Can we go together?" Asked Caitlin, who by now had a bit of separation anxiety.

"Yes. In fact I think this time it's safe for us to go as one long cavalcade again. Blight, are you up to carrying the gunpowder?" Molly asked.

Blight smiled a confident smile as to say he was ready and up to the task given to him.

The six left Vicarstown station in the late morning.

Sodor Day 2: Brendam Docks

They made it to Brendam Docks by the early evening. Thankfully the weather cooperated and it wasn't too rainy or windy as the sheds at Brendam had no walls. The engines found themselves surrounded by many gunpowder vans. Blight ran off to find somewhere to put the gunpowder vans he had behind him.

"Wow. This must be where they're getting their munitions from!" Caitlin stated. She had never seen that much gunpowder in one place before.

"Yeah. And it looks like they might be planning something big." Emily speculated.

"Emily may be right..." Molly worried.

Suddenly an unfamiliar whistle was heard in the distance. They were in danger of being caught. Emily and Molly froze in fear, whilst Blight seemingly knew exactly what to do.

The brave B12 quickly but gently buffered up to a single gunpowder van and booked it up the main line. He returned 15 minutes later as a large blast was heard. He smiled and winked at Caitlin. She was quite impressed. Meanwhile Emily and Molly could breathe a sigh of relief.

The six of them chatted about their lovers and family they had lost. The ones they were doing this for. Eventually, they fell asleep.

Sodor Day 3: Brendam Docks

Molly roused and rallied the engines early in the morning and laid out a plan for getting through to Wellsworth.

"Alright, so Blight, Caitlin, and I will go in first with a few gunpowder vans, then Scott, Toby, and Emily will follow close behind. We must be careful, as we are close to their grounds." Molly instructed.

Blight wore a solemn look on his face, as if he were preparing for something. He then put on a brave face.

"Emily, Toby, and Scott will need to stay out of sight as we near the sheds to avoid capture." Molly continued.

"Are we ready?" Asked Molly.

Blight put on a brave scowl as to say he was as ready as he'd ever be.

"Absolutely." Smiled Caitlin.

"I'm ready." Molly took a deep breath.

The three formed up and got one final word in.

"When you hear my whistle up the line, that's your queue to take off from here." Molly instructed.

And with that, they left.

Sodor Day 3: Wellsworth

All went well as Blight, Caitlin, as Molly arrived at the sheds in the early hours of the afternoon until Blight began to tug on Mollys' coupling indicating he wanted to be uncoupled.

"Blight, what are you doing?" Molly asked.

Blight responded with a stern and brave look before he backed down and switched tracks. He returned a short time later, facing the 4 black engines in the shed.

"Ah look! It's one of our own! How ya doing chap?" One of them asked warmly.

Blight responded with a content look.

"I see you've brought company..." Another gave a sinister smile.

Blight perked up, an angry look on his face as the turntable lined up to his track. He ran back quickly to find another turntable and returned a short time later and eased slowly onto the turntable and into a berth of the shed, right in front of one of the mysterious black engines.

"What is this? A gift?" One of them asked.

"Blight, please, what are you doing?" Caitlin, who was in the front of the cavalcade, began to panic.

Emily, Toby, and Scott arrived as this was all taking place. They quickly and quietly hid on a siding out of the way, but within eyesight of the shed.

Blight once again tugged at the coupling between him and the gunpowder vans, as he wanted to be uncoupled. His crew uncoupled him and he slowly rolled towards Caitlin.

"Blight...I-" She was interrupted by his lips pressing to hers. Then it happened. Blight reversed quickly into the gunpowder vans, and they ignited, taking himself, the mysterious engines, and the shed with him.

"BLIGHT! NO!" Caitlin cried.

Caitlin was distraught. The brave, quiet engine, the one whose lips somehow tasted like Gordons, was gone.

"Caitlin! Caitlin...we have to go." Said an emotional Molly.

"Let's reconvene at Knapford station." Molly said as loud as she could through tears.

They all took their leave, respectfully quiet, except for Caitlin, who sobbed and screamed. She practically had to be pulled out of there by Molly

Sodor Day 3: Knapford

The five engines arrived at Knapford in the early hours of the evening. The sun was setting, casting a beautiful, calming glow over the island.

By the time they had arrived, Caitlin had managed to calm down slightly. She was no longer screaming, but still cried. Her footplate was soaked, and her eyelids were red. Several crews were with her to help attempt and soothe her.

Emily gently approached her and gently wheeshed some steam in an effort to soothe the distraught President P-7. "Shhhhhh its okay. Breathe with me. I'm right here."

"Hey! look at the sunset! Isn't it beautiful?" Emily asked softly.

Her crew had retrieved a cloth and some cold water and were now resting a wet cloth on the top of her face.

The newly rebuilt Knapford station had been turned into a living memorial of sorts. All around the first platform, nearest to the office, stood lots of lit candles. A large picture adorned the wall of the station. In it were Thomas, Edward, Henry, James, Percy, and Toby. It had an inscription at the bottom in gold lettering, reading

"The courageous engines of the Northwestern railway"

Not far from that picture was another, adorned with a proudly smiling Gordon. The inscription read

"Gordon, the hero of Sodor"

The moment of peace was interrupted by a panicked Toby. "Mavis... Henrietta... We need to go...We need to go to Ffarquahr. Before they kill both of them."

This jolted molly. "God you're right Toby!"

"Everyone, to Ffarquahr quarry! We'll meet there!" Molly panicked.

Sodor Day 3: Ffarquahr quarry

It was dark by the time everyone arrived at Ffarquahr. The remains of two tank engines lay nearby. It was clear who they were. They knew at that moment that Bill and Ben were dead. Toby shuttered.

A noise came from the work shed directly in front of them. "Driver! I heard something come from that shed!" Toby exclaimed softly, just in case anyone was there hiding wishing harm on them.

Tobys' driver carefully hopped down and carefully opened the shed door. There in front of him, were Mavis and Henrietta. A bit dusty and covered in cobwebs, but otherwise unhurt.

"MAVIS!" Toby shouted.

"TOBY!" Mavis replied.

Toby raced forward and embraced Mavis in a nice, long, sweet kiss.

Unfortunately their moment was interrupted by the sound of another engine and Emilys' scream. She had been captured.

"Shit! After them!" Shouted Molly.

Toby was quickly coupled up to Mavis and Henrietta and raced off after them.

Eventually they wound up at Tidmouth sheds.

Sodor Day 4: Tidmouth

Emily fought them every chance she got. She braked so hard to the point her wheels flatted.

"You won't get away with this. You're all dead! DEAD I TELL YOU!" Emily fumed.

The others were nearby, attempting to gather a plan.

Emily was shunted into the middle berth. Six other mysterious engines occupied the berths around her. Little did they know, they were the only remaining cousins of Alfred that were alive.

"Any last words?" The engine who shunted her in chuckled misheviosly.

Emily said nothing. She was too angry and upset.

"What...Puffing away like a coward are ya?" Emily sighed angrily.

The puffing of another engine was getting louder and louder. It was going fast.

"Yea thats right. Puff away you mongrel... THEY CAN'T HOLD EMILY STERLING!" Emily shouted as the engine and four loaded gunpowder vans crashed into the shed, which then exploded.

"EMILY!" The others cried out.

The sun had begun to rise, casting am orange pink glow over the island once more.

Caitlin and Molly wept, Toby, Henriatta and Mavis stood there in shock. Scott remained respectfully silent.

The puffing of two more engines caught the emotional engines off guard. They were joined by two more solemn engines. The sight of two familiar B12s came into view.

"We heard and came too late as well..." Dmitri said solemnly, trying not to cry himself. They mourned their lost brave brother along with the others.

"They're heroes they are, took out the rest of his line for good." Isaac said.

After multiple moments of silence, Dmitri spoke again.

"We can help you rebuild and restore this railway to its former glory. It's the least we could do. For the brave fleet of locomotives that took back their home, known as The Survivor Sisters."

In the months following, Wellsworth and Tidmouth sheds were rebuilt and the damage done by Alfreds' cousins was repaired. A bronze statue of Blight wearing a brave face with four gunpowder vans in tow sands outside Wellsworth station, a plaque honoring him and his crew also adorns the walls of the newly rebuilt Wellsworth sheds. A statue of Henry and Emily facing eachother and smiling now stands in his forest by the line to honor and commemorate them too. The heroes shall forever be remembered.
