After walking through the forest for a while, we eventually found a clearing that seemed suitable to stay in for a while. It was relatively open, with enough space for all of us to keep watch without being completely exposed. The ground was soft but dry, a good enough spot to set up a temporary camp. I paused, scanning the area once more before I moved to gather firewood. It wasn't a matter of necessity for me, but for the others, fire would help keep the cold at bay—and the darkness.

I moved swiftly through the trees, collecting large branches and dead wood. It didn't take long before I returned, my arms loaded with more than enough to last us the night. I dropped the pile of firewood near the center of the clearing and straightened up.

Claire looked at the stack and raised an eyebrow, impressed. "That's… a lot. I didn't think you'd be so resourceful."

I said nothing, just glanced at the firewood, my calm expression unchanged. "Fire will keep away some of the things lurking in the dark. It's practical," I said, my voice still cold and detached.

Chris began arranging the wood, getting ready to start a fire. "Good call. We need something to keep warm and keep the area lit."

Leon leaned back against a tree, arms crossed, watching the fire preparation with an almost casual demeanor. "Looks like we're setting up camp for the night."

As the fire was lit, the flames casting flickering shadows around the clearing, I stood a short distance away, surveying the area for any threats. The forest was quiet, but I knew that quiet never lasted.
