Chapter 2

October 30th, 1988

Tokyo Metropolitan Matsuzawa Hospital

It was a dark and stormy night. Thunder roars loudly as a car drives through with its headlights on in the darkness. Anything can barely be seen as the car continues driving down the dark road with many twists and turns.

In the car was a young man in his mid 30's who was known as Dr. Hatori Sohma. Driving the car was a young nurse with purple hair tied in pigtails. Her name was Kagami Hiiragi. She reaches for something in the car and puts it in her mouth, chewing on some gum. They sit in silence as Kagami continues to drive as the rain continues to pour down.

Hatori looks to Kagami by his said and asked, "Tell me, Ms. Hiiragi, have you handled a patient like this before?"

"Only with minimum security," Kagami replied. "Most patients I've dealt with were hardly that dangerous."

"I see," Hatori said, as he looked back in front of the car.

It was silent again for a few seconds before they appeared right in front of a gate and made another turn on the road.

"Over there," Hatori pointed. "The driveway is a few hundred yards up your right."

Kagami nodded as she followed the doctor's instructions. "The thing that has me nervous are the rumors that I heard about him. They just gossip on how inhuman he is."

"You don't have anything to worry about," Hatori assured her. "Unlike most patients, he won't talk. He hasn't talked in the last 15 years. He can speak, he just chooses not to."

"Anything I should know about how to handle him?" Kagami asked.

"Just don't go easy on him," Hatori advised. "He may seem like he'll come quietly, but don't be fooled. The last time he tried something it took 10 guards to overpower him and finally sedate him."

Kagami gulped a bit from hearing that story from Hatori. "What do I give him in front of the judge?"

"Thorazine," Hatori recommended.

Kagami raised an eyebrow and thought Thorazine seemed a bit overkill. "Don't you think he'll barely be able to stand up if I give it to him?"

"Yes," Hatori replied. "In fact, that's the whole point of it. I've worked too hard to finally get him locked up in maximum security. After this, he'll be locked away for the rest of his life and I won't have to deal with him anymore."

Kagami could tell that Hatori was serious about it. "So you really don't want him to get out?"

"Never," Hatori answered, honestly. "If you knew him as well as I do, you'd want him to stay locked up too. He acts normally and reasonably to others, but deep down something dark lurks beneath him."

As more thunder roared, they saw something through the darkness. The headlights revealed what appeared to be the mental patients, dressed in their white gowns.

Caught off guard, Kagami said, "Wait a second, what are all the patients doing here? Are they allowed to be wandering around like this?"

Knowing something was off about this, Hatori gave her stern instructions. "Pull up the main gate!"

"But shouldn't we put…"

"Go on, move!" Hatori ordered her.

Kagami turns the car, passing by more patients that were outside behind the gate as lightning flashes through the sky. They finally made it to the main gate.

"Should we go on up to the hospital and…"

"Wait!" Hatori told her firmly.

Hatori got out of the car as Kagami stayed put. She watched as Hatori went up to the main gate to make a phone call to contact those in charge of the front gate to inform them of the situation with the patients wandering around loose.

As Kagami waited, a person jumped onto the back of the car and crawled on top. It was Bakura. Kagami felt the car shaking, not realizing Bakura had just jumped on top and rolled down the window, thinking she could convince him to get down.

Rolling down the window was a bad idea. All of a sudden, Bakura had reached in the window, trying to grab Kagami by the beck as she screams, trying to keep Bakura's hand off her to keep him from strangling her. Her foot stepped on the pedal, losing control of the car.

With the car moving, Kagami managed to break loose from Bakura. She regains control of the car and manages to put the brakes on. Kagami scrambled into the seat as she backed away from the open window, painting with fear.

All of a sudden, Bakura's hand smacks against the window behind her head, causing it to shatter. Kagami rushes away to the driver's seat door and opens the door as she falls to the ground and rushes away as she slips on the wet ground, getting away as fast as she could.

Bakura jumped down from the top of the car and quickly got inside. He closed the door as he turned off the brakes to the car and began to drive away from the hospital.

From what Hatori found out, somehow Bakura managed to overpower and kill some of the guards one by one, opened up all the doors to the patient's room to create chaos. Hatori realized he was waiting for them through all this chaos in order to use this opportunity to escape. Now he was loose to kill again.

Running up to Kagami, who was shaking with fear, Hatori asked, "Are you alright?"

Kagami nodded. "Yes, I'm fine."

Hatori watched as Bakura disappeared with the car into the darkness. He said to himself, "That was very well played Bakura. But I know exactly where you are headed."

Running straight towards the hospital to inform the staff of Bakura's escape, Hatori vowed to himself to find him before he kills again. He knew drastic measures had to be taken to capture Bakura, even if that meant killing Bakura himself.
