Justin trampled the floor in a trance like state, his unextinguishable energy working at full force as he repeatedly lapped the waiting room. Back and forth, over and over he covered every diameter of the room, Jerry watched his eldest whilst sat embracing his fragile wife. Theresa rested her head on to his shoulder and securely into the crick of his neck, despite the few tears escaping from the corner of her eyes, she felt comforted in his presence. Jerry however teetered on the edge, as Justin passed him once again his footsteps rattled along the floor breaking the silence. Jerry felt his jaw clench as he heard the steps again, and then again. A small snapping sound alerted him, Jerry peered closely at his son who was now nibbling ferociously at his fingernails, jamming them into his mouth as if he were a chipmunk trying to break a nut.

"Justin!" He finally barked causing his son to come to a sudden halt, "knock it off!"

Justin sheepishly placed his hand back into the pocket of his jeans, "sorry…"

"Jerry I can't stop thinking about Alex!" Theresa announced lifting her head, "do you really think she'd be able to find Crumbs in Costa Rica all by herself? Where would she even begin to look!"

"Theresa," Jerry pulled her back into his embrace, "this is Alex we're talking about. She'll be okay, besides knowing her she'll be able to find her way to Crumbs easy!"

"With no powers, or any way of contacting anyone from Wizard World? I doubt it," the Doctor sneered to herself.

"What if she did turn into a wolf?" Mason piped up from his seat, "Is there not another I.P.P to take us to the same place as her, or can somebody flash us there? She can't be on her own if she did change, it won't be safe."

"Mason, she's having a baby!" Harper exclaimed, "she can't be on her own at all!"

"I could flash us there," Justin declared, "but I can't guarantee we'd end up in the same area as Alex did."

"Then we need another I.P.P, before Alex ends up giving birth in the middle of the jungle!"

The Doctor wavered her hands around, "unfortunately there's no other I.P.P, budget cuts have limited our resources this year."

Nurse Janice dithered behind Dr Butcher, she listened intently to the conversation and edged closer to the group.

"Well, what now then?" Harper asked.

"If Justin flashes us to Costa Rica, I could fly around and look for Alex," Juliet suggested.

Mason rolled his eyes, "and how long will that bloody take?"

Nurse Janice remained outside of the group, taking a deep breath she feebly raised her hand, "excuse me…"

The group continued to chatter, and Janice's soft voice become swept away in their harsh tones, "hello, excuse me?" Biting down on to her bottom lip Janice watched on as the debate intensified, their voices growing with each suggestion.

"Mom, have you still got the name of that resort we all went?" Max asked, "we could book a room there and take shifts looking for Alex. I could probably book a flight for tomorrow."

"Max, this isn't a vacation! We're not going to a resort!"

"I'm just trying to make the best out of a bad situation!"

Janice clenched her fists and strained her voice, "excuse me, Dr Butcher?" But she remained unheard, "DR. BUTCHER!"

Silence shrouded the room. Everyone stopped in their tracks and cautiously turned their heads to look at Janice, she smiled sweetly at them as she used her shaky hands to fumble with the belt attached to her blue uniform.

"Dr. Butcher," Janice started again in a soft tone, "I'm sorry but I think you're forgetting something. What about the master I.P.P in your office?"

One by one each one of the family members faces crumpled, and their heads snapped towards the doctor. "That's for emergencies only," the Doctor told Janice through gritted teeth.

Harper placed her hands firmly on to her hips, "I think this would class as an emergency, don't you?"

"Fine!" The Doctor groaned loudly, "but you won't be covered on our insurance, so if any accidents happen it's all on you! I'll take you to it, but only three people maximum can use it."

Justin stepped forward into the group, "I think we can all agree it'd be safer for everyone if only someone with powers went. So, it'll probably be better if just me and Juliet go."

Mason gave a small chuckle, "what?" His face contorted as he spoke, "don't I get a say in this?"

"Why would you?"

"Seriously?" Mason pouted, "I'm Alex's boyfriend, and the baby's father!"

"And if you were watching her when you should have been, then she'd probably still be here. So, I don't think it really matters if you're the baby daddy or not."

"Justin, that's not fair!" Harper interrupted, "Mason was getting the Doctor to help Alex. He wasn't to know she was going to do this, any one of us would have done exactly the same!"

A puff of air escaped Justin's lips and he ragged his fingers through his dark locks, "you're right. Mason I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap. But maybe it would be better if you stayed here, you know, in case she comes back…"

Mason's eyes narrowed, "and what are the odds of that happening?"

"Like Dad said, it's Alex! Who knows what she'll come up with next! But I just thought it might be quicker if just Juliet and I-"

"Seriously?" Mason exclaimed, "Her? Over everyone else here, you choose her?"

"But she's my girlfriend, and she's a vampire…"

"What does that matter? I'm sorry, but I don't care if she's your girlfriend. And I don't want her at the birth of my baby, especially if there's a chance I won't be there!"

"Hey!" shouted Juliet, "Alex is my friend! I would never do anything to hurt her!"

"That's not the point though, it should be me with her not you!"

"Right that's enough," Jerry intervened stepping in between Mason and Juliet, "you can both go with Justin to find Alex. You guys both have qualities that can help find her faster, so use them. Then we can get her home where she is safe, and as soon as possible, preferably before it's time for her to have the baby."

"Fine," they both mumbled in unison.

They both glared at each other, their piercing eyes burning into the other. Juliet gnarled her fangs and hissed at Mason, he smirked in response to her pathetic attempt before curling up his top lip and letting out a deep growl.

"Guys," Justin warned, "if we're doing this, we've got to be serious! Okay, so here's the plan," he snapped his fingers and a black backpack appeared on top of the coffee table in between them. Justin immediately crouched down to get it, "in here I have a piece of Alex's clothing, some of my old monster kit, and I'll pack some of these textbooks and the potion. Juliet can track her scent using her clothes, and then when we find Alex we can give her the potion."

"Well, I can track Alex," offered Mason, "werewolves have a better sense of smell and besides I think I know Alex's scent better than anyone."

"Actually Mason," Juliet leered, "Vampires have the better sense of smell. It's how we find our prey."

"Actually Juliet," said Mason imitating Juliet's criticising tone, "that's not true, if it was then you'd be able to notice that disgusting dead animal and vanilla smell you have."

"Oh, so does that mean you've noticed that wet dog smell you have?"

Mason released another growl, his mouth trembling as his eyes become slightly glazed in a light tint. Juliet recognised the red mist and stood her ground, puffing out her chest and widening her mouth two small fangs began to descend from her gums.

Justin sprinted in between the two of them, "guys!" He yelled furiously, "quit it! We're supposed to be helping Alex, so stop fighting with each other or neither of you are coming to look for her!" Justin collapsed his head in his hands and groaned, "Doctor, can we please use your I.P.P, before I have to banish them to the monster hunting cells?"

"Yeah, sure. I'll lead the way, but I must warn you. It's not been used in a while, so it'll be a bumpy ride!"

After bidding farewell to the others, the three of them followed the doctor on route to her office. It was an eerily silent walk, Justin didn't have the energy to attempt a conversation with Juliet or Mason, instead he felt an immense pressure building as he repeatedly recapped his plan in his head.

'Go to Costa Rica, get Alex, give the potion and come back. Go to Costa Rica, get Alex, give the potion and come back. Go to Costa Rica, get Alex, give the potion and come back.'

Enclosed in his own bubble of thought, Justin followed the Doctor mindlessly into her office, he dragged his feet as he walked in with his head hung low as he remained focused. 'Go to Costa Rica, get Alex, give the potion and come back. Go to Costa Rica, get Alex, give the potion and come back. Go to Costa Rica, get Alex, give the-"

A flick of the light switch interrupted Justin's train of thought as his eyes clamped together to defend against the offensive lighting. "Well, here we are," Doctor Butcher announced before yanking open her desk drawer. An erratic rustling caused Justin to peep through the slits of his eyes whilst they adjusted to the lighting. Dr Butcher rifled violently through the drawer, tossing paper and garbage behind her as she dug deeper into her desk. "I know it's in here," she muttered through gritted teeth. "Ah ha! Gotcha!"

In her hand she produced a golden remote, its chrome casing was chipped and the Doctor grimaced as she traced her finger along a deep crack, "oops…"

Smiling meekly, she passed the remote over to Justin. It felt lighter than he remembered, he could practically bounce the thing around in his palm. "Now remember," the Doctor began as Justin inspected the dial in the centre of the remote, "it hasn't been used in a long time. So, it'll be a rough ride."

Justin nodded robotically, slowly his finger travelled over the dial and pushed it gently. Then suddenly a clatter erupted from overhead, everyone jolted back and watched on as a dark portal descended above them. It clanged and spluttered as it extended downwards, and a mirage of muted pastel tones swirled in the darkness above them.

Mason and Juliet stared in awe at the spectacle, and over the overwhelming whirring sound exploding from the machine the Doctor shouted across to Justin, "Can you take it from here Professor?"

Justin gave a weak nod, "Just remember," Dr Butcher continued, "stand directly under the portal when you hit the dial. Hopefully Alex wouldn't have wandered very far, and once you get to where it took her, then you should be able to catch up to her."

"But what if there is a chance Alex might have used her I.P.P to move on to somewhere else?"

The doctor shook her head, "the new location would show up on our remote if she had. Whenever it's in use there's always an alert."

Juliet peered at the object in Justin's hand curiously, "why do you even have this in here?"

"We use the hospital I.P.P to travel to get foreign ingredients for our potions. But I have this one in here because, well, because I got the big fancy office so I get the big I.P.P too." Her lips curled up as she joked to Justin, "perks of being the boss, right Professor."

Justin glanced upwards and slowly adjusted the dial, "okay guys, come on. We need to go and save Alex."

The three of them huddled together and glanced nervously upwards as intensifying pressure descended on to them. Justin gulped as his finger pressed the dial inwards, and he stared up at the dark mouth of the machine. The pressure grew and he could feel himself becoming lighter as his body gradually lifted.

"Now remember," the Doctor continued to speak, but Justin found the rest of her words quickly became lost within the growing dull tones of the I.P.P. As were all pulled up towards the machine, the growling intensified. Justin reached out to halt his exit, helplessly clawing at random objects to stop himself. But the tightness of his body condensed his movements, the pressure crushed his body as he lifted away and up in to the machine, along with Juliet and Mason.

The Doctor sighed to herself as she watched the three of them slip away, "it'll be a rough landing…"
