Author's Note:
Although I don't spend time with him as much, I think it's only right to dedicate this story to Ryan Volkmuth, who used to attend Audubon Elementary School before passing away on September 2006.
When I first set foot inside Bowditch Middle School, I didn't know what to expect, thinking that it won't be the same as it was in Foster City School.
But after everything that's happening, from making friends with the Eds, the Lunch Bunch, and my aide, Odette, to saving Bowditch from the Crust Cousins, I gradually found myself feeling at home.
Pretty soon, the school year went by fast, with word spreading around that Odette and Prince Daniel were getting married.
Following that announcement, I've been seeing Odette less and less, for she and Daniel were busy with the wedding preparations.
I felt lonely at times, but thankfully, I had my other friends around to keep me company, especially the Eds, who comforted me one day when Odette went to the office to meet up with Daniel.
"Do you think there'll be a reception?" asked Ed.
On the last day of school, we all met outside Room 42 for the wedding. Even my friends; the Imaginaries, Captain Amelia Smollett, Dr. Delbert Doppler, Mr. Arrow, and John Silver, were here, congratulating me for making it past my first year inside Bowditch.
I stood beside Daniel as his best man, watching as Odette's father, the baker, walked her daughter, dressed in a pink & blue swan dress and wearing a matching tiara, by the row of chairs.
Daniel took Odette's hand, where he placed a ring on her finger. Odette did the same with Daniel's hand.
Once they were pronounced married by the minister, Daniel and Odette shared their first kiss as husband and wife.
I stood proudly watching them while everyone else cheered and cried tears of joy.
As Ed had predicted, a reception followed, complete with cake, courtesy of Odette's father, treats, and a photo-op, where my friends and I had many pictures taken together.
After our last group photo was taken, it was time to get ready to leave school for summer vacation.
To me, that also meant parting ways with Odette now that she was married, which was the hardest thing to do, but deep down, I knew that this was right.
