Chapter 01
"I would appreciate it if I were to never see your face around here ever again."
She looks up when she hears the voice and searches for the source. Being in a conference room with less than ten Heroes in it, it's not hard to see who the speaker is.
"You're so mean!" Mt. Lady whines, pouting at a man clad in almost all black. Said man is not looking directly at the Hero but she can very clearly see the pissed scowl on his expression, despite half of it is covered by a gray scarf. "Why can't you just say nice things for once?"
"You don't deserve any at the current moment," the man replies instantly.
"YOU'RE SO MEAN!"
"Shut up."
She is surprised that Mt. FatAss has other people who have the ability to tolerate her enough to be with her presence. Though, she doesn't know who the other person is. She had never seen him before, until today. A new Hero perhaps? Or maybe this is the very first time they have ever crossed paths? There are a lot of Heroes in Musutafu, of course, and she doesn't care a whole lot about most of them.
"Ah, Eraserhead."
She doesn't turn to the speaker who is descending down right next to her. She's already very familiar with him.
"Ya know him?" she asks him while keeping her eyes on the man, whose name is Eraserhead, she just finds out.
"Not personally, but his student is interning under me," Hawks answers casually. That causes her to turn towards him, frowning in confusion.
"UA student? Why's a highschool teacher here?"
Did she miss a crucial detail on the memo? No, she did a double check on it. Not once did it mention something akin to a highschool teacher in it.
"He's actually a Hero, an Underground Hero specifically," Hawks points out with a mischievous smirk.
"Oh."
"Yeah, imagine my surprise at the fact that they actually exist."
She turns back towards the Underground Hero, Eraserhead.
Mt. Lady is still at his side. She seems to have mellowed out, no longer crying and pouting. The two seem to have a pleasant conversation, though it's Mt. Lady who does all the talking while Eraserhead stays motionless.
He looks… disinterested, yet Mt. Lady continues to blabber her mouth to him.
"Yo, Eraser!"
She can see Eraserhead visibly twitch when Ms. Joke suddenly shouts, and his scowl somehow deepens.
"Out of all faces I want to see less, the least one came," he says out loud, glaring at the approaching Hero.
"That's why I'm the best at it!" Joke replies, completely unbothered by his words as she has a huge grin on her face.
'Underground Hero, huh?'
She has heard about them, met one back during her Vigilante days (and got an earful from them for being a naughty, mischievous bastard) unlike Hawks who thought they were just a myth for the longest time. The meeting was so quick, so brief and so out of the blue that she has now completely forgotten how the Hero looked like anymore. All she remembers now is a vague memory of the lecture and sore knees from kneeling.
…Maybe the Hero back then was actually Eraserhead?
"YO ERASER!"
This time, she can't stop herself from jumping, startled by that extremely loud noise.
"Mic. Inside voice," she hears Eraserhead hisses as the Voice Hero enthusiastically struts over to him and the two Heroes with him. "And why are you even here in the first place?"
"Whadda mean why? I came here to ya to say HEL- Mrhm! Hrm Sryhm!"
Present Mic's voice thankfully got cut off when Eraserhead grabbed onto his face, covering his mouth entirely.
"I would rain hell upon your sorry excuse of a hair if you don't shut your mouth."
"Plshm dhmph!"
"Do I make myself clear?"
She watches as Present Mic nods his head, movement barely noticeable due to Eraserhead's death grip. It must be quite a grip considering just how red Present Mic's face has turned into.
…Is it her is Eraserhead's eyes glow red or something?
"Not really kind with his words, ain't he?" she mutters out.
"Tsukuyomi said he doesn't give out compliments, like at all," Hawks answers with a shrug. "All he does is criticize and criticize. It hurts much more when he has a tongue sharper than a snake. He has quite high expectations, sometimes almost on an unrealistic scale."
"Yeah, I can tell."
"YOU'RE SO MEAN!"
"MARRY ME!"
"YOO!"
"I am sick of all of you."
She can definitely see veins popping up on his forehead behind the hair, judging by his bulging eyes and ticking eyebrow.
"For someone who is quite an ass, he sure has some pretty loud friends," she can't help but point that one out. For a split moment, she feels sorry for him, having three of the most annoying (well, she doesn't know Present Mic personally, some goes for Joke, but seeing how the duo almost share the same energy as Mt. Lady, they can be labeled together) people in the world screaming directly into his ears.
"Tsukuyomi said his friends pointed that out too," Hawks replies with a cackle. "Wait till you hear his work relationship with All Might."
She almost chokes on her own spit before giving Hawks a wide eyed look.
"All Might? Like the number one Hero All Might?" She asks, feeling a little breathless at the revelation. Hawks turns into a hyena now, cackling up a storm.
"I know! I thought Tsukuyomi was pulling my feathers. Until I visited UA one day and found the Number One kneeling down in front of him sweating bullets. He was so scared!"
"No fuckin' way."
"Fucking way!"
She huffs while shaking her head in disbelief. She finds herself returning her gaze back at the Underground Hero.
Somehow, within that short amount of time without her looking, Eraserhead somehow… cocoons…? the three Heroes in something that shares the same color as his scarf. Hell, it looks like it is coming from his scarf, somehow. The three cocooned squirms on the floor like larvaes.
Someone like him is well acquainted with the number one Hero…
How can someone want to be close to him when his attitude is like that?
She stares at him across the table. The ice in her carrot juice is slowly melting away and diluting her drink, while his mug of coffee is slowly cooling away. He is leaning back against the bench, eyes closed and chin tucks into the scarf that he can always be found wearing no matter the occasion.
She doesn't know what he is currently thinking, what he is currently feeling. She had been told that he is not too keen with crowds, and the restaurant they are in suddenly gets bustling with many customers. Thank fuck she wears a disguise enough to hide her identity, meanwhile Aizawa doesn't change much because barely anyone recognize him. Still, she pulls the Gatsby hat down, making sure her ears are hidden.
She had tried to find a place with very few people yet decent enough for a date. She still remembers just how much of a disaster the first date she had set up; everything literally went to shit and up ablaze. Nothing went according to plan, and to make matters worse, she could clearly tell Aizawa wasn't having a great time. She had thought to herself that that was it. Her chance had completely slipped away and he would sneer at the thought of a second date with her.
Yet, here they are now, on their second date. It is much calmer than their first one (then again, anything is calmer when compared to their first date). He didn't condemn her for the first date, didn't avoid the topic of a second date even. Hell, he didn't even hesitate for a single second to accept the invitation.
She had thought he would flap his sharp tongue at her for her mismanagement and poor planning… but she didn't get any. All she got were a mix of reassurance of "It's fine", "Nothing to worry" and "It's our first time, nothing will always go to plan" and stuff like that. He's… surprisingly lenient.
He reacted the opposite way of the things she had heard about him.
He's… surprisingly very forgiving.
"Got a place in mind after this?" She decides to throw out.
"I'm fine with anything," he replies without opening his eyes, just as she expects.
He doesn't really say a lot.
Well, he does say a lot, a whole lot of words that would wither weak hearts in a second.
He just… doesn't say a lot when it comes to himself.
And he only speaks when needed. More often than not, she carries the conversation and he would give only one or two words in. It's frustrating for her, and disheartening, because he sounds so disinterested. She would've thought that this relationship wouldn't make it if it wasn't for the fact that he listened to everything and remembered every single detail she had said.
There's also the fact that he agreed to go on a second date with her.
"Wanna go bungee jumpin'?"
"Not that."
She finds herself cackling.
He's… quite the mysterious man, hard to read.
Being someone who is hard to read like Aizawa can be disheartening, but the fact that he keeps coming back to her…
It makes her want to know him more.
"Babe, I need yer opinion," she calls out over her shoulder while keeping her eyes on the phone in her hand.
She hears him approaching from behind, hearing the shuffling of his feet, a telltale that he has just woken up and is still sleepy. Then, she feels his head drop onto her shoulder with a deep sigh, snuggling into her neck for a moment. Instinctively, she reaches up with her free hand and runs her fingers through his hair over his scalp.
"What is it, Ru?" he asks, voice muffled by her skin.
"I asked around if they had a place in mind for a date," she says, keeping her hand moving. "Tsu suggested this place, said it's exactly what you want while also good enough for us together." She turns the screen towards him, showing him, and feels his head moving to look.
"Hm," he hums in approval. "She knows me the best in class. What seems to be the problem?"
"Well, Eri wants us to go to this place." She swipes the screen up with her thumb, showing a different picture. "Because… well, it's Eri."
"Anyone else chimed in?" he asks dryly.
"Ya can say everyone put in their own two cents. Izu said a fine diner and he has a place in mind, Kats said the park, Ejirou said a wrestling match, Kyo said the Meshuggah tribute band live performance that will happen in a week time and even sent us the tickets… The most surprisin' one is Momo, said Shouto brought her to the local supermarket to watch lobsters fight in the tank and she said it was the most romantic thing she had ever experienced."
"The kid has his way sometimes, no matter how questionable."
"Well, he learned from the best."
"I've never stooped that low."
"Ya once called me over just so we could watch two stray kittens playing outside yer home."
"…"
"And ya almost cried watching them."
"…"
"And then we fucked for the first time after that."
"Let's get back to the topic at hand," he quickly says. She can't help but snort. Still, she returns her attention to her phone, specifically the two locations she had narrowed down for their date. "What would you choose?" he asks her as he reaches out and scrolls the screen up and down, probably comparing the two suggestions.
The gold ring around his finger catches her attention.
She tries not to let the goofy smile let loose on her lips.
She tries not to think about what those fingers did to her last night.
She can't help but squeeze her thighs together though.
"I'm tempted to go with Eri. Her suggestion is not half-bad actually. But I don't know, Tsu sounds a little bit better," she tells him, frowning at her phone. "That's why I ask ya which one you would prefer."
"I'm fine either way," he answers as he retracts his hand back. She groans and rolls her eyes.
"Sho, come on."
"Fine… I prefer what Tsuyu suggested."
"That's my husband."
"Hm."
He buries his face back into her neck.
"You always know what to do, Ru."
"Pft, ya handle paperwork much better than I can in a million years."
"Not when it comes to this stuff."
"Yeah ye're always terrible when it comes to romance. Makes me wonder just why I would eagerly spread my legs for yo- GAH!"
She yelps when he suddenly yanks her up out of the couch. She quickly finds herself in his arms, leaning into his chest.
"I can show you romance," she feels him saying as she wraps her arms around his neck. She cackles before dropping kisses along his jawline.
"Oh I know it intimately," she purrs.
