"What?!" Goten cried, "What do you mean five minutes?!"
"The Quantum Dial is a powerful weapon that could destroy an entire planet," Vegeta explained, though he tried to rush it, "Once it implants itself into the planet's earth, it immediately activates and drills down to the planet's own core, using its own power supply to set up an immense destructive blast. The process takes exactly five minutes, and I've already wasted one explaining it all to you!"
Gohan's eyes widened. "Then… How do we stop this thing?"
"Only one thing to do!" Uub shouted as he shot into the air and cupped his hands to the side, "Ka, me, ha, m-"
"Don't bother!" Vegeta shouted, which distracted Uub and thus forced his attack to fade. "It has a defense shield that absorbs any attack thrown at it. It literally cannot be destroyed!"
"How are we going to stop it then?!" cried Trunks.
At that, everyone suddenly looked up as a shadow passed overhead. A strange UFO had flown by and was floating towards the sky.
"Who's that?" Uub asked.
"I don't know," said Gohan, "But I can't even feel anyone's power level on that thing!"
"Dondoro!" Yamura cried, as she tapped the icon on her left chest plate. "Wait!"
"Why should I?" Dondoro replied via telepathy, "This is my only chance to kill every last Saiyan left… including YOU!"
Yamu's eyes widened. "What..?!"
"You think I took you in out of pity?" Dondoro continued, "You're just as filthy as the brood who destroyed my people! I only kept you around because your strength and abilities were useful. But now that the Prince of all Saiyans is about to be destroyed, I don't need you anymore. Now all my obstacles will have been cleared and I can repopulate my race and renew my society! And with all of Freeza's technology at my disposal, I will recreate the galaxy as I see fit!"
Yamura's eyes widened. All this time, she thought she was helping to destroy what was left of Freeza's empire… She was only helping him become the new galactic tyrant!
What other lies has he told her?! Were Saiyans really that evil? Was her own mother whom she looked up to, respected, and loved the secret tyrant that he claimed she was?!
All she knew at that moment was that he was not going to escape and leave her for dead after what he did!
"RENTATSU RASSHU!" she screamed as she forced her energy and power level to double and she took off to the sky, racing after Dondoro's ship.
The others blinked, confused as to what just happened, but Vegeta quickly grabbed their attention once more. "Get out of the way!" he shouted as he took to the sky. The others followed and got behind him as he burst into Super Saiyan 2. He then pushed his palms forward and powered up. "FINAL FLASH!" he screamed as he shot a powerful wave of energy aimed at the dial.
"Stupid fools," Dondoro muttered as he watched everything unfold from security holograms in the safety of the control room. "Vegeta himself should know that not even a powerful attack like that can stop the Quantum Dial." He then pressed a few buttons on the control panel, and grabbed a level. "Now to set up light speed traveling and get as far away as I possibly c-"
*KER-AAASSSSHH!*
Without warning, the walls burst open, and Dondoro found himself grabbed by a power-up half-Saiyan, half-Ryujin, with aura glowing bright red to go with the bright white eyes.
It was as if the Devil himself came for him.
"Yamura?!" Dondoro cried, "What- what are you- STOP!"
"As we approach the scene, we're finding a group of men, apparently flying in the air, and one of them attacking what looks to be a… giant time dial?"
Pan and Mr. Satan were watching in the safety of the bunker deep below Satan's dojo, along with a handful of servants and caretakers, all closely watching the news broadcast on television. Although she kept saying she was fine, Mr. Satan insisted on keeping Pan swaddled in a blanket to ensure her injuries didn't get to her.
"What the heck is that thing?" he mumbled worriedly as he rocked Pan back and forth like an infant. Pan really wished he'd stop holding her like a baby…
More importantly, she wished she was there with her father and the others to help…
"What are you doing, Father?!" Trunks cried, "You said it yourself! Attacking the dial itself won't do anything! It's just going to leave a gaping canyon at this point!"
"I'm not looking to attack it!" Vegeta shouted back, finally powering down. He rushed downward through the thick smoke and debris. "Follow me!"
The others did as told and floated down after him. They did their best to push past the destruction, and rush downwards, only to stop short of crashing into a massive metallic side.
"Everybody get under it! Hurry!" Vegeta ordered, "Before the drill reaches the core!"
The others went under the dial and took hold of any part of the dial. "Now!" Vegeta shouted, "PUSH!"
The men powered up her ki levels to their highest. Gohan, Goten, and Trunks had to go to Super Saiyan mode, but they just had enough strength to move the Dial from its place and push it upwards. Vegeta's plan was becoming clearer to them now… He wasn't attacking the dial itself, just destroying the earth that it had firmly implanted itself on. But now how do they get rid of it?
"And now!" Vegeta continued as if answering their questions, "Spin! And get ready to throw!"
It was all coming together now. It was like an Olympic Game! Being sure to stay in coordination, the five held tightly onto the Dial and spun it around in a circle, growing as much momentum as they could in a minute, which was all they had left…
"Three… two… one… THROW!" they all screamed as they let go and allowed the DIal to be shot into space.
Vegeta once again held out his palms. "FINAL FLASH!" he screamed, releasing another wave of strong energy at the dial, helping to push it along.
Meanwhile, Yamura, still in her Rentatsu Rasshu form, was racing towards the others with Dondoro in a chokehold. In her state, she was able to see the Dial come straight towards her. Had she not doubled her power, she would've been struck by it… But she was able to evade…
And let Dondoro behind to get struck by the DIal. "What?! What's happening?!" he cried, trying to get a sense of his new surroundings. The air around him was rushing, but the thinning oxygen and slight burn to his backside told him he was leaving the atmosphere…
"How am I-?!"
He looked upwards, and finally recognized the material he was riding on. "The QUANTUM DIAL?! No! NO!
He tried to jump off, but a sudden burst of speed forced him in place.
Gohan, Goten, and Uub had combined their Kamehahemas and Trunks his Double Blaster into Vegeta's Final Flash, helping it to push the Dial out the Earth's realm and further into space.
Ten seconds to go…
"SEI KAZE!"
The men were surprised to see a sixth person suddenly arrive, and one of Donroro's soldiers at that, using her own power to help along the Dial.
"Get it! GET IT!" Mr. Satan screamed, nearly shaking all the senses out of Pan as everyone watched the television intensely to learn their fate…
"AAAAIGHHHH! NOOOOOO!" Dondoro screamed in the depths of space, as the last second went by.
*KA-BLAAAAAAM!*
The Quantum DIal was far enough from Earth to prevent its destruction, but the effects were still felt. A bright solar flash swept about the world. Satellite feeds were disrupted. Massive earthquakes shook about. Winds picked up to hurricane levels.
But after only a few moments, everything settled.
Other than those effects, Earth was safe once again.
"YAHOOO!" Chichi and Videl cried out, hugging each other and jumping together.
"THEY DID IT!" Mr. Satan happily threw Pan into the air and caught her several times as the servants and workers around them cheered.
"All right!" the small group of warriors celebrated themselves. Goten and Trunks high fived and squeezed fists affectionately. Gohan clapped Uub on the shoulder. "Nice job!" he said, "My dad would be proud of you."
"Thanks," Uub smiled, "He'd be proud of you, too."
Vegeta then glared over to Yamura, who had finally powered down after having used her technique when she was already exhausted. That move had pushed her past her breaking point and she went completely unconcious, falling straight to the ground.
Normally, Vegeta would let their enemies fall to their death without care, but she did help save the Earth…
And she was his niece, after all…
So he decided to catch her, then lay her gently on the ground.
The others quickly followed. "Hey, what about this one?" asked Uub, motioning to the downed Yamu.
Trunks eyed his father. "What do you want to do, Father?" he asked, "Do we send her away? Or do we…?" He had trouble finishing that sentence. For him, he had trouble killing in cold-blood, regardless of who the person was…
"Leave her," Vegeta spat, surprising everyone.
"Are you sure?" said Gohan, "What if she tries to destroy us again? Or do something else crazy?"
"She won't," Vegeta muttered, "She has enough crap to deal with now. She was lied to and betrayed by the one she thought she could trust. She knows better than to mess with us now."
"Are we really just going to leave her here? Like this?" Goten asked, noticing her exhaustion and the fact that she wasn't even awake.
"If she is indeed part Saiyan," said Vegeta, "on top of which, my niece…" He gave a slight smirk. "She'll be just fine."
"NIECE?!" Trunks cried.
The Saiyan Prince nodded. "Let's go home, son," he said, "Now that there's no more threat to the Earth, I'll have plenty of time to explain everything."
Vegeta took to the skies. Trunks bid farewell to his friends before taking off. The others decided to make rounds across the Earth to make sure Tien, Krillin, Eighteen, and Yamcha did all right, and that there were truly no more of Dondoro's soldiers hanging around.
It was still a celebration in the bunker of Mr. Satan's dojo.
"They did it!" Mr Satan cried tears of joy as he continued to hug Pan tightly, "I can't believe they really did it! I could've sworn we were goners for a minute there."
Pan was silent. She only stared at the television as the broadcast returned and the Laney Los was reporting the good news of the world being saved, and the cameras catching the triumphant heroes taking to the skies and flying away. Tears started swelling in her eyes.
"Aww, don't cry Pan," said Mr. Satan, despite having tears of his own, "Everything's okay now! Your father and the others made sure of it!"
But Pan wasn't crying tears of joy. They were tears of disappointment.
Disappointment in herself. 'I should've been there…"
The world may have been safe once again, but at that moment, Son Pan learned that she had a lot of catching up to do.
NOT THE END.
A/N: Firstly, I apologize if this whole arc seemed rushed. Frankly, I just wanted to get it by quick so that we could get to the REAL meat of the story. Yeah, believe it or not, an Earth Invasion and it nearly blowing up is just a mere INTRODUCTION.
The "Quantum Dial" came from Archie Sonic the Hedgehog #125. It basically works the same way, only it creates black holes instead of simply detonating like a massive bomb. Gotta keep the Earth safe somehow… lol
