Inuyasha felt himself falling and tried to catch himself but couldn't. He fell onto what felt like a wooden table in shock. It broke to the floor, and he scrambled to get up. As he looked around, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He began to hyperventilate and become extremely dizzy. "No…" His chest began to hurt, "No no no no…"

She was cruel. "Why!?" He shouted just before his youki began to explode. He drew Tetsuaiga and began to use every skill he'd ever added to it. "WHY!?" He screamed as tears ran down his face.

Servants and guards alike were sent running for their lives as he began to rampage. "WHY WOULD YOU SEND ME BACK!?" He roared as he continued to destroy everything in sight. "WHY!?" He continued to scream and shout. Using everything at his disposal to tear down the walls of his prison.

Sesshomaru could feel the distress and terror, but he wasn't nearby, so no one had the strength to stop him as he rampaged. "WHY HERE!?" He howled, "WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST KILL ME!?" With every windscar more and more was destroyed. "AAAAHHHHH!" He roared as he became one with all his being. Then the worst of it began. A storm began to rage like no other. Tornados touching down and destroying even more. "WHY ME!? WHY ME!? WHY DO I HAVE TO SUFFER?! HAVE I NOT DONE ENOUGH!?" He snarled as he continued to attack no one and everything all at once. "WHY!?"

He continued to rampage, any who tried to stop him swiftly met their end. "WHAT WAS THE POINT!?" He continued to rage and rampage throughout the castle. Destroying a good majority of it. Those who were fortunate enough to escape finally realized that this hanyou wanted nothing to do with their lord. That he felt like a prisoner here. It was a tough pill for many to swallow but why else would this be happening.

The Earth began to shake under their feet as Inuyasha continued to rampage and ask the gods what he did to deserve this. His eyes were red with youki, unfocused and shaking. His markings were prominent across his face. As he attacked with the sword and his natural abilities, he'd even managed to harm himself though it didn't seem like he noticed. Lighting would strike the ground between the various tornadoes "WHY!?" He screamed. "WWWWHHHHHYYYYYYYYYY!?" His youki continued to lash out against his surroundings but none could get close enough to stop this.

None had ever heard a being sound as distraught as the hanyou did. The guards did the best they could to save the inhabitants and use their natural talents to try and protect everyone, but it was clear this hanyou wasn't like the hanyou they'd encountered in the past. "PLEASE!" He cried. "PLEASE!" He choked on his words as his throat began to close. He fell to his knees as the tornadoes disappeared and the sky began to clear, "…why am I being punished…?" He questioned on his knees, "…why…?" Was the last thing he said before collapsing from complete exhaustion. He had no physical, mental, or youki energy left. He lay passed out in the middle of all the destruction and that was what Sesshomaru had arrived to.

Guards and generals giving orders to rescue those who were trapped under rubble. Sesshomaru was given a rundown by a general and was shocked. He'd been searching so long for the hanyou and for him to just be dropped in. He wondered where the hanyou had gone. As they explained everything that occurred, he wanted to sigh at the state of the fortress. Inuyasha was lying on the ground with his eyes rolled to the back of his head. "Inuyasha." He tried shaking him, but it stirred nothing. He was completely exhausted.

As they were rescued, the servants were crying and being treated. Temporary tents had been set up and Sesshomaru sat in one looking at his mate whom he hadn't seen in over a month. Masane was bandaging up the worst of his self-inflicted wounds but said nothing before going and assisting others. The youkai lord just sat there staring at him for a while before those who still lived were done being rescued. When they were done, he gathered everyone.

They were injured and wondering what their lord was going to say. "Please try to forgive him. He behaves like this because of my mistakes. He is still young and unused to his own youkai. I apologize for causing you all so much trouble." He would have to adequately compensate those who couldn't be resurrected's families. He was tired. His youkai was happy to have Inuyasha back but, this wasn't good. He'd never seen the hanyou exhausted like this, even after the battle with Naraku.

He sighed softly as he returned. The hanyou was still sleeping so he posted guards and saw to the beginning of the repairs. He decided, that since it was already all destroyed, it would be a good opportunity to remake it entirely. The area could use a fresh start.

As the repairs began, Sesshomaru moved Inuyasha to temporary housing. He didn't seem like he'd be waking up anytime soon. Masane continued to check on him but even a week later he hadn't opened his eyes. Sesshomaru shared his youki with him, but it wasn't making a difference. Even weeks later, when the fortress had been rebuilt bigger and better, the hanyou remained asleep. Picking out a nice room, he was brought there, his sword by his side to prevent his youkai from taking over.

Sakura had survived and was assigned to take care of him since she was a familiar face. She would care for him day and night, talking to him about the things happening around the castle and even the new staff. She had nothing else to do so she talked. The night he changed though, she'd been completely frightened, especially when Sesshomaru came slamming into the room thinking his mate had disappeared once again. When he saw Inuyasha's form he was shocked. He knew it happened to hanyou he just didn't know the effect it would have on their mating. He let her know that if she ever spoke a word of this to anyone she would be executed.

It seemed to be enough for her. She was relieved when he turned back to normal in the morning though. Sesshomaru had waited for it to happen as well. Many of the servants would gossip, saying they were worried about the mate of the lord. Who remained asleep. They were also worried about the king who spent most of his time waiting for the hanyou to wake.

Many thought he never would but one day it began to rain. It was unexpected but the quiet downpour left a somber atmosphere. Sesshomaru, who hadn't been feeling anything from his mate felt him stir, he slowly walked to him. Wondering if he was awake and if he would avoid him. However, Inuyasha stayed where he was. He was feeling…despair? There was nothing else, no anxiety, no fear, no anger. Just despair. At least that was the only thing Sesshomaru could equate it to. When he opened the door, he could see Inuyasha sitting up and quietly looking at Sakura who was cheerfully asking him if he needed anything, if he was hungry at all. She poured him water and told him she was happy he was alright. That she'd been worried about him but the hanyou didn't respond. In fact, he looked like he hadn't even heard her as he blinked looking at her.

"Here milord, drink this." He slowly took the water she offered and drank it. She smiled happily, "I shall go get you a nice porridge." She bowed to him but bowed again when she saw Sesshomaru. Inuyasha watched her leave and then his attention was on Sesshomaru. He just blinked at him without saying anything.

He didn't flinch or try to run away when Sesshomaru approached, nor were there any feelings of anxiety. The youkai found this uncomfortable. He grabbed a chair and sat next to him. He expected Inuyasha to say something, anything but he just stared at him. "What happened? How did you end up in the middle of the castle?" It was really the only two things he could think to ask.

Inuyasha didn't respond and just continued to stare at him. It was unnerving. He went to the door and told a guard to go retrieve Masane. She came quickly and began checking him over. Inuyasha didn't fuss and let her handle him with ease. She then used her magic to check his body with her eyes. "Milord, please give me your hands." Inuyasha offered her his hand. She checked his pulse. From what she could tell, he was fine, and she told the king this.

"Then why…is he like this…?"

Masane checked his eyes. They dilated properly. "He's not in shock. I'm not sure what's going on. Milord. Inuyasha. Are you feeling, okay?" Well, as okay as he could be given the circumstances.

He didn't respond or even look like he wanted to respond. He just looked at her before Sakura knocked and entered with a serving of porridge. She greeted Masane. "Milord, it's tasty." She began to explain what was in the food like she'd done for him before. "You should eat as much as you can. You've been asleep for a long time."

Inuyasha accepted the food with no fuss and slowly began to eat it. Sakura seemed happy about it and began to tidy up. Sesshomaru pursed his lips, he didn't know what to do with this. His youkai was urging him to comfort him, to do anything but the youkai wasn't even sure what this was. The hanyou watched the pouring rain as he ate the hot porridge slowly. "Inuyasha."

The hanyou blinked and turned to look at him. Sesshomaru wasn't sure what to say to him. When he didn't speak after a while the hanyou turned back to the window and watched the rain again. His eyebrows knit together, and he could only wonder what he'd done to the hanyou.

It continued to rain everyday while Inuyasha was awake. Sesshomaru realized that he was causing it because of it. It was an extremely rare trait…that only manifested…under extreme duress. The fact that he hadn't manifested it earlier in his life was shocking. The only emotion he'd felt from him since waking was despair and when he and Masane left the room when he'd first woken, she brought him to her chambers and looked at him. "He's likely given up."

"What do you mean?"

"On everything. He's given up. He's not gonna fight you or anyone or anything else. He's given up." Sesshomaru couldn't be happy about that. "He needs to be monitored at all times for now."

"Why?"

"Because he might kill himself." She explained.

Sesshomaru felt his blood run cold and his youkai begin to flip out. If it wasn't one thing it was another. Her words were shocking but he really needed him to learn to stop the rain before the country suffered more than it already had. When the hanyou was asleep he'd already tried commanding it but he wasn't sure if it would work. When he made it to his rooms, he was standing up and looking at Sakura. She was pulling him along to the small dining table in his chambers and leaving him in a chair as she then went to change his bedding. She continued to chatter at him with a smile, but he gave her no reaction. She bowed when she saw him, but Inuyasha didn't acknowledge him until he called his name, at which point the hanyou looked at him quietly.

He came and joined him at the table, "I'm not expecting you to know how to do so immediately but if you aren't yet aware you are causing the downpour. You need to stop it. It's a rare trait but I'm certain you can figure it out. You could cause a famine." He explained. Inuyasha only blinked at him. He continued to stare at the youkai without talking or any changes to his emotions. His youkai whined within him, and he pushed it down. The youkai held in a sigh before he began watching Sakura complete her task and continue cleaning. Inuyasha began watching her too. They sat in silence like that.

When she was done, she asked, "Milord, would you like to take a bath? It'll feel good. You should take your time and relax." She smiled and went to draw a bath. Inuyasha didn't respond to her but did as she said when she returned. Sesshomaru followed him because he wanted to watch his strange behavior for longer. He didn't even acknowledge that he was watching. He stripped down in front of them both and slowly cleaned himself. "Shall I wash your hair milord?" Sakura asked.

Sesshomaru waved her off and decided to wash his hair himself. Inuyasha made no move to avoid his touch or anything. He simply stared fixedly ahead as the youkai washed his hair. He was careful, making sure no water went into his ear canal. His short hair had grown out a bit by now. No where near the length it had been before, but it framed his face better now. "Close your eyes Inuyasha." The hanyou did as he was told and Sesshomaru rinsed his hair. Moments later the hanyou was sitting in the hot bath quietly, staring at the wall in front of him.

Sakura helped him dress and the hanyou laid down in the bed and closed his eyes. Sesshomaru frowned and took a towel to better dry his hair. Inuyasha said nothing and let him do what he wanted as he drifted off. The youkai sighed looking down at him. He didn't know how to fix this. The rain stopped a few days later, but so did the one emotion he was getting from the hanyou. He wasn't feeling anything anymore. It had startled him at first and he was worried. Inuyasha seemed even more sluggish than before. He still hadn't spoken since he woke up and quietly did as asked everyday. Sesshomaru told Sakura to take him outside at least once a day. It wasn't good to be indoors all day. The first time, the youkai brought him outside himself. He was holding the hanyou's hand and slowly pulling him along. He sat him under a tree and did work from a short table nearby.

Inuyasha didn't move, he didn't wander, he didn't seem to have any interest in where the youkai had brought him. He stayed where he was put, stared fixedly ahead, and didn't do anything until it was time to return. He had a small meal before he went to sleep again. It was very concerning. Life was very quiet again with Inuyasha as he was.

Many were speaking about it, some worried, others relieved. There were only 4 people who would come to visit. Sesshomaru, Masane, Sakura, and Hiroshi. The last youkai couldn't believe what had been done to the hanyou. He was empty… the youkai would just speak at him about the daily happenings of the fortress and the new buildings. He talked about maybe one day sparring with the hanyou when he was better but the hanyou would only stare at him as he spoke.

Masane could only attend to him each day, hoping to bring him out of this state. Nothing was working. With Sesshomaru's permission and presence she decided to use the salts again. To elicit any reaction out of him, he wouldn't even respond to pain. He didn't react to Tetsuaiga being set aside and then the salts were used. His eyes changed and his youkai took over it curled in on itself as if to protect itself.

The only emotion it felt was despair, and it began to rain again. His youkai didn't look at them, didn't move, it barely acknowledged that they were in the same room. Sesshomaru sat on the bed next to him, angling his head to meet his eyes. "Mate, what's wrong." He had no clue what could have happened to him while he was away and to see him so defeated was extremely uncomfortable.

The youkai said nothing, only reaching to remove the youkai's hand from its face. Sesshomaru pressed their foreheads together and asked, "What happened while you were away mate?" It still didn't respond, and only continued trying to remove his hand. Sesshomaru was getting very frustrated with it. He pulled it into his lap and just stared at it. "I cannot assist you without knowing what occurred."

It didn't speak or do anything, it just continued to stare at him now that he wasn't holding its face any longer. Sesshomaru held in a frustrated sigh. Did he really do this to the hanyou? Then he watched it happen again, his eyes flashed that deep brown for a moment before returning to the red hue. However, in the hanyou's mind there wasn't much going on. It didn't understand what was happening, but it didn't want to fight. It didn't care what happened to it anymore. Being here again with its mean mate had defeated it. It didn't understand what its mate wanted. It wasn't hurting anyone, and it wasn't trying to escape anymore, so why was he upset with it? Its other half was even more silent and cowed.

It blinked a few times before leaning forward and kissing the youkai, thinking that's what he wanted. Its body. Sesshomaru was put off because of this, "Stop." He mumbled against lips and pulled away. "Why are you doing this?" He asked.

Inuyasha's youkai didn't respond and continued to stare at him as Sesshomaru felt his confusion begin to grow. The youkai lord held back a sigh. "Lie down, rest." Inuyasha did as he was told. Eventually it passed out. Sesshomaru found this frustrating.

Many would see Inuyasha on the walks Sakura would bring him on. If she wasn't pulling him along, he would just stand and stare ahead. She would serve him snack in the gardens and talk about the various plants and flowers. Inuyasha would just stare at her and sometimes Sesshomaru would come and sit near him doing work. Most servants were elated to see this because to them it looked like the mates finally getting along.

Sesshomaru was trying to figure out what to do but a part of him didn't want to fix this. It was better if Inuyasha never spoke again. It was better if he stayed like this for the rest of their lives. He would shake that thought away though and continued working hard on a solution.

One day, he was sitting with the hanyou in one of the new gardens quietly. He'd begun to nod off where he sat. One thing about the state Inuyasha was in was that he wouldn't do anything unless prompted. His youkai would act but nothing too serious. If Sakura stopped bringing him food, he wouldn't eat. If she didn't suggest taking a bath, he wouldn't have one, he would just sit in bed all day and sleep. Sometimes he would watch the world from the window.

Using his fur, he wrapped it around the hanyou telling him to rest a while if he was tired. A few of his advisers approached as he was lying down. He was staring at them as they spoke to Sesshomaru. They greeted them both with a bow and began to go over things.

Kotono, the youkai Inuyasha had once killed, was looking at Inuyasha as he slowly blinked at him. He pursed his lips as he examined the stony hanyou with the lifeless eyes. The slow blinking soon stopped as sleep consumed him. "Lower your voices." Sesshomaru said coldly, when his mate had finally drifted off. Their voices dropped to whispers as Inuyasha slept.

Kotono noticed that he wasn't the only one who would look at the hanyou. There was one adviser that was from the time of Lord Touga. He was wise but he continued to look at the hanyou, taking in his features. Kotono found the behavior to be distasteful. Especially when it came to some of the questions, he felt the need to ask whenever the topic of Inuyasha came up.

They were curious about what ailed the mate of the king, but none were bold enough to question him about it. The only thing he told them was that the rampage was enough to shock him and his youkai, and he was currently recovering and unable to speak. One adviser had died during his rampage and had yet to be replaced, which is what they were discussing. "The council as well, is suggesting that Lord Inuyasha begin governing lessons."

"Deny them." Sesshomaru looked at his sleeping mate. He was in no state to do anything other than what he'd already been doing.

He was able to complete quite a bit of work before Inuyasha woke again and sat up slowly. His short hair was messy, but he made no move to fix it as he stared at the advisers. Sesshomaru reached and fixed his hair without a word and continued to work. There was always so much to do. Sakura brought him food and water a short while later. Inuyasha ate slowly and the advisers would periodically look at him. Most were just a bit afraid of the unpredictable mate of their lord.

At one point, Sesshomaru paused and watched his mate eat for a bit. He really wanted the hanyou to talk. When he finished, Sakura cleared everything. It was getting late so Sesshomaru dismissed the advisers and escorted Inuyasha back to his rooms.

Inuyasha bathed and was put to bed. Sesshomaru's youkai was pleased to be caring for him, but it was still worried about his state. Sesshomaru went to his office to complete more work. He worked for a while but because he hadn't been feeling any emotion from the hanyou when he felt that barely noticeable confusion, he was worried.

He hurried to his mate's chambers as quickly as he could go and growled. Inuyasha was sitting up in his bed but Yuushou, one of his advisers was being held down by Kotono. "What occurred?" He questioned, going to his mate and checking him over.

"A remark he made, concerned me so I followed him. He waited for the servant to leave before using his authority to enter." Kotono said quickly. Sesshomaru didn't even give Yuushou a chance to explain and decapitated him without a word. The blood made a mess and Inuyasha was just staring at them all. That same slight confusion.

"Come here Inuyasha." The hanyou slowly stood but Sesshomaru went to him before he stepped into the blood that was spreading on the floor. He picked him up and left the room. Walking through the halls the confusion disappeared and was replaced with its usual nothingness. He brought him to his own rooms and set him down on his bed. "You may sleep here until your rooms have been cleaned. My apologies for the unsightly scene." He murmured as he practically tucked the hanyou in. He needed to go deal with the adviser, he was going to resurrect him and torture him. His advisers had no reason to seek his mate. He clenched his hands, the old youkai was a fool. The first person he questioned was Kotono who told him what he'd observed earlier in the day and what he'd seen later that day. When he'd entered the room, the youkai had Inuyasha by the throat and was removing his clothing. It infuriated the lord's youkai so much that he ordered for him to be tortured for the next 20 years before being killed again. To touch what was his was to beg for death. He let every guard in the castle know that none were to approach his mate aside from Sakura and Masane or they'd be tried for treason and conspiracy.

When he finally returned to his room, Inuyasha was asleep. He could see that his clothes were in disarray and frowned. Had he been in his right mind he would've killed the youkai himself. Sesshomaru changed his clothing and climbed into bed behind him, spooning him tightly and taking in his scent. "I'm sorry Inuyasha." He mumbled as he allowed sleep to finally claim him.
