Hi everyone! Here's a brand new chapter to get the story flowing again. The aim is to get this story finished by Halloween! There's only a few chapters left so I just might make it! :D

Thanks for reading, and please let me know what you think. :)

Chapter Six

Lightning flashed, thunder rumbled, and the rickety ship reappeared – not on the choppy waters of Audubon Bay, but on a wooden cradle built over the wild grounds of a very spooky ruined castle. Darkwing Duck cautiously peeped through his fingers, watching the last wisps of colored mist fade into the dark and windy night.

"I'm alive…?"

He patted his purple uniform, inspected his dramatic cape, and sighed in deep relief. "Ha! Takes more than a crackling energy monster to terrify Darkwing Duck!"

Leaping up from the cowering crouch he'd huddled into when the Ghost Cat's maw engulfed the ship, Darkwing stormed across the main deck, where the scowling sorceress Morgana Macawber met him glare for glare.

"All right, Morgana, what gives?"

"I could ask you the same thing," the red-clad woman huffed angrily, and pressed a hand to her forehead. "Oh, Dark! All our time together – all we've been through! And you still don't trust me, do you…"

"You think this is about trust!" Darkwing gestured wildly to the ship and its spooky surroundings. "Morgana—"

"Do you deny you were following me?" She towered over him imperiously. "Tracking my movements and location as if…as if I were your criminal quarry!"

"I do deny it!" Darwing said, drawing himself up with a self-righteous snort. "With Gosalyn and Launchpad as my witness, my sole aim in going out tonight was…well… To make a romantic gesture. Which wouldn't have been necessary if you hadn't shut me out and disappeared! As usual…" He crossed his arms in a dark sulk.

Morgana's eyes widened. "Are you saying this intrusion was my fault!"

Darkwing glared. "What was I supposed to do, Morg? Ignore a mysterious ship full of strange coffins and Frankenducks!"

"You could have minded your own business."

"Mysterious happenings are my business!" Darkwing retorted. "I didn't know you had anything to do with it! When I first saw you, up on the deck of this rickety wreck, I thought you might be in trouble!" He harrumphed. "Besides, you weren't answering my messages. Gosalyn thought, if Lauchpad and I took her trick-or-treating, we could stop by your house – as a surprise. But was dark…empty…just like last year. Then, we spotted Megavolt's lightning and—"

He straightened in alarm and stared around the apparently deserted ship. "Hey – where is Megavolt? Where is everyone?"

Morgana clenched her fists and stared up at the overcast sky. "Oh, Dark… Why must you make everything so complicated!"

"Complicated! Me!" Darkwing frowned. "What exactly is going on here, Morgana? Where are Gosalyn and Launchpad? What is inside all those coffins I saw those Frankenducks loading onboard, and what – what – is that malevolent monster of a Ghost Cat that literally swallowed us whole!"

Morgana rolled her eyes and sighed. "Well, since you're here, I suppose I should tell you—"

"You'll do no such thing!" A zombie-looking duck with greenish skin and a dusty top hat stepped out of the shadows by the main mast.

"Father!" Morgana gasped.

"Into the castle, Morgana," Moloculo Macawber ordered, pointing a bony, gloved finger toward the ramp. "You and this purple-clad Normal of yours." He growled. "We can only hope this latest interference from him and his kind hasn't gummed up our whole operation…!"
