"Well, we have 75% complete. We have several pieces left and those are located in two spots. The first one is located in the mountains of Downunda and another set in an enemy base owned by Dr. Starline," Shade said.

"Yes, I wonder if Dr. Starline wanted access to advanced echidna tech," Mina said.
"Indeed, it's very disturbing. My people are the most advanced people this world has ever seen. That type of tech getting in the wrong hands would be a disaster for this planet," Shade said.
"Sonic and Mina, you guys are here," Ray said as he paused his guy for the young man to give Sonic and Mina high fives. "You guys here to help out?" he asked.
"Of course; Ray. We got your backs when we secure those shards," Sonic said.
"I am hoping Mighty would find some clues about his sister Matilda in all this," Ray said.
'Your sister?" Mina asked.
"Oh yeah, any clues about her whereabouts?" Sonic asked.
"It's going pretty slow but I did get a lead that she is sighted in Downunda which fits her appearance before her disappearance over a decade ago," Mighty said.
"Well, hopefully, you can find her Mighty," Mina said.
"Thanks, but we need to get these shards," Mighty said as Knuckles came down from the stairs to be ready.
"Okay guys, I have a plane which can use to take us where we need to go," Knuckles said as they went out of the house to see a plane that Sonic would pilot to take all six of them to Downunda to secure the emerald shards.
Elsewhere Naugus is in a forest in Downunda to meet with a contact who is working for Dr. Starline. "Hey, greybeard I am here," the young woman Surge said as the green hedgehog was beside a tree with Naugus looming over her.
"My dear, you have finally come to me. Did you get what I asked?" Naugus asked as Surge handed him a data disk filled with Echidna records inside.
"This is all the data the doctor has. I did my job and now tell me about my past," Surge said.

"Ever since I worked with the doctor, I don't remember much about my time before I met me. There are huge gaps within my memory and I want to know why," Surge said.

Back with Sonic and Knuckles as they fly over the ocean to head for the mountainous deserts of Downunda. Sonic is piloting the plane with Mina in the co-pilot seat. They can see the Downunda vast desert covered in mountain ranges.
"Alright, we are almost here. I am going to set up a landing point," Sonic said as he began slowly descending to land onto a wide space to land. The plane touches down with them being rocked by the rough landing.

"Those dirty echidnas," Thrash said as he was ready to pounce on them.
"Hey big guy, we don't engage until they gather the shards and we come in to take them all at once," Clove said.
"Screw that, I only came along with the Doctor to kill the remaining Echidnas. His plans for me are not my concern," Thrash said as he rushed for the two.
"Damn it, that moron," Clove said as she wields her energy scythe to assist him.
Mina is running to another piece when she feels an energy signal nearby. "Seems like Sonic, got one already," she thought as she used Hover to allow her to double jump onto the narrow rock peaks to reach an area where the two pieces were located. "Cool," she puts them into her backpack.
"I managed to collect them," Mina said on the radio.
"Good, I am close to one myself," Mighty said as he saw a green glow coming out of a dune. He runs up a rocky wall to gain some height before kicking off it to begin falling towards the dune.
He curls up into an armored ball to perform a Meteor Drop to deliver a powerful slam attack that destroys the dune. Mighty collects the two pieces of the master emerald. "Awesome, Knuckles I found some," he said on the radio.
"Good, we found some here too. I think that is all of them here," Knuckles said as Shade noticed some in the distance.
"You dirty echidnas!" a big wave of sounds slams into Knuckles and Shade for Thrush comes in to punch Shade in the face and send her flying into a wall.
"What the hell?" Knuckles questions this as he gets punched by Thrash but Knuckles stands his ground to clash fist with the unknown fighter. Knuckles and Thrash connect their punches making shockwaves that kick up dust and rubble into the air. "Who are you?" Knuckles is puzzled as the huge Tasmanian Devil unleashes a huge scream using it as a sonic weapon to blow Knuckles away.
"Your Reaper Echidnas," Thrash said as he grabbed Knuckles' head and flung him into a rock wall. Thrash unleashes a sonic scream which blows Knuckles while destroying the rock wall.
"Knuckles," Shade pulls out her shotgun to fire twin flashbang shells to blind the big Mobian. She goes over to check on her lover to see if he is okay. "Good thing you have a hardhead," Shade said lightly.
"Yeah, goodie for me," Knuckles said as he got back up with him and Shade working together to fight the big brute.
Ray looks over to be on top of a cliff to overlook the battle to see a weird shadow going to sneak attack, Mina. "Hey Mina, something is behind you?" Ray warned as Mina hit the shadow with a Hover attack to lift Clove in the air to turn off her cloaking device.
"Damn it," Clove tosses grenades to make break her focus to drop her onto the ground. She rushes at her with her energy scythe as she is swinging her weapon to unleash several energy sickles. Mina is rolling away from the energy attacks.
"Hover," Mina tries to hit her but Clove is avoiding her attacks with her becoming invisible.
"That is not going to work," Clove said as she summons a riot grenade from her cybernetic arm to toss it at Mina. She fires a fireball at it but gets hit by a sticky goo making it very hard to move.
"Mina," Sonic said as he ran towards them with Clove hitting him with riot grenades to hit him with sticky goo which made him immobile.
"Stay out of this," Clove said as Mina burned the goo to free herself for it's the only thing that can get rid of it. She is engaging Mina in close-range combat swinging her scythe and trying to sever her head or limbs.
"Damn it, I can't move," Sonic is unable to do much with Mina trying not to be struck by the riot goo.
"Just die alright," Clove said as Mina noticed something off about her.
"Why are you working with Starline?" Mina asked.
"Why would you care?" Clove asked as Mina noticed unless that big brute Thrash she fought before, she was putting her all into this,
"Enlighten me," Mina said as Clove felt a bit uneasy with this.
'I am doing this to help my little sister. She is very sick and Starline is giving her medicine while I give aid to his cause in exchange," Clove said as Mina saw the younger woman for she has sympathy from one big sister to another.

"Sister stuff, after we take the emerald shards here. We need to go to Starline's base to recover the rest of the shards and her sister Cassia," Mina said as Sonic was suspicious of her.
"Can we trust her?" Sonic asked.
"Did you trust Shadow and Shade before?" Mina asked.
"Good point," Sonic said.
"Besides I know, sisters got to stick together and I can feel that from her," Mina said as Ray watched from afar with Shade and Knuckles getting pushed around by the big brute. Thrash punches Shade to knock her into the air as he grabs her foot to bash her into the ground several times.
Shade gets kicked in the chest to launch her onto the dirt knocking her out. "Why do this?" Knuckle demanded as he began to charge up his fist with lightning to smash onto the ground unleashing a wave of energy to push Thrash back.
"I have lost everything because of the Echidnas. You turned my people into living weapons for your endless wars in the past and now my people are gone because you bastards," Thrash said as he rushed at Knuckles for he felt sorry about this.
"I recently learned about my people's past along with Shade. I am sorry but killing me and Shade will not bring them back," Knuckles said.
"It will bring me peace by killing you both," Thrash said as he didn't care about his words at this point. Mighty kicks Thrash onto the ground to aid his friend Knuckles in defeating him.
"I am not going to let you kill my friends here," Mighty comes in to help Knuckles push back Thrash. The brute punches Mighty but he curls up into an armored ball blocking his hit as Knuckles kicks Thrash to knock him back.
"Don't get in my way," Thrash said as they dodged his incoming blows to leave craters in his wake.
"Gee, this guy just keeps going," Mighty said as Thrash unleashed his sonic scream to knock both fighters backward.
Ray watches to see his friends getting hurt by Thrash. "Guys," Ray glides down towards the fight with Mighty watching this as he is scared for Ray's safety. "Stop it now," Ray dives into Thrash's back to hurt him.
"You little pest," Thrash said as he grabbed Ray to lift him above his head about to crush his body.
Mighty rushes in using his speed to slam his fist into his stomach to knock the wind out of Thrash to make him drop Ray. "Don't you dare hurt Ray!" Mighty delivers a powerful uppercut to launch him high into the air. Mighty curls up into an armored ball as Thrash crashes into a crater getting badly injured.
Knuckles in the other direction to go behind Thrash's back. Mighty performs an armored Spin Dash to throw himself at Thrash to slam into his chest knocking him towards Knucklers.
"Deep Impact," Knuckles connects his punch into his back with enough force to generate explosive power. This strong blow manages to break Thrash's spine to cripple him making him unable to move. "Drop this nonsense about killing the echidnas, it's in the past now," Knuckles said.
"Curse you," Thrash said for he blacked out as Knuckles and Mighty checked Shade and Ray who were injured.
"Thank goodness, they are okay but they need to rest in the plane," Knuckles said.
"Yeah, some healing gel along with some rest will do the trick," Mighty said as Sonic and Mina arrived to see the battle that had torn the place apart.
"Gee, you guys had a hard time," Sonic said.
"Yeah, no thanks to this guy," Knuckles said as he grabbed Shade while Mighty carried Ray. "They need to rest while we go to Starline and finish this. I am taking back the emerald shards from that guy," Knuckles said.
"Right, we need to find Cassia," Mina said as they left Shade and Ray behind in the plane while the four went deeper within Downunda to track down Starline's base to find the last pieces of the Master Emerald.
Elsewhere Surge is in the forest to meet with her partner Kit. "Ma'am, you found what you were looking for?" Kit asked.
"Yep, and that bastard is using us as tools and twisting our memories. I used to live a normal life and now I am a weapon he forged to kill Sonic. Now, this weapon will be aimed right back at him," Surge said.
"I see, well I will help you Surge," Kit said.
"Why are you helping me, you are tied to me via some weird crap?" she asked.
"Because I want to," Kit said as Surge rubbed his head.
"You are alright Kit, come on. Let's visit the good doctor while his goons are gone," Surge said as the two head off to confront Starline with Naugus watching in the shadows.
"This is all too easy," Naugus said as he observed them while the mayhem unfolded before him.
