Kagome couldn't believe how bad the infection had gotten. 47% of the citizens in the city have been turned into these strange vampire-like creatures. She and her brother were only in the city for their cousin's wedding but before they could leave the outbreak happened. All communications were shut down and no one was allowed to leave. The longer they stayed the more her miko abilities were on high alert as she sensed that their numbers had grown. Even Souta was able to sense them now. One night her cousin's fiance called them from their hotel room, telling them that their cousin never came back. They went to their apartment and saw that he wasn't there. Kagome couldn't sense their auras anywhere. They were one of them now.
Seeing that these creatures need to be stopped, she and Souta have been hunting these creatures down. In her high school years the priestess has been teaching her brother with his own holy magic and archery. He was good at both but he had some trouble placing up barriers and sealing charms. They were able to find some weapons in a hunting store. They got two compound bows, two quivers and arrows, two machetes and a few blades. One night after checking one house Kagome found a beautiful Katana sword that she decided to use.
On one of their hunts the two siblings took down a few vampires when they heard a little girl scream. They hurried over and saw a four year old girl crying and screaming as two vampires advanced on her while three others fed on her parents. Kagome quickly notched her bow and shot two arrows at vampires and they turned into dust. The other three turned towards them as they hissed and growled. Souta shot one of the three vampires that tried to come at them. When it turned into dust too, one of the vampires started to back away while the other one stood up straight and it's eyes glowed.
"It cannot be." It said "Holy beings."
Kagome and Souta side glaced each other for a few seconds as they had never heard these creatures talk before. The priestess wondered if it was the maker that started this. Luckily for them, they wore the samurai masks that their cousin collected to cover their faces.
"It's too late, Priestess. It won't be long till this city is mine." It said "You cannot win."
"We'll see about that." Souta glared "My sister will fry your ass when we find you."
"I've seen your kind before. We'll find your nest soon." Kagome said
The creature growled before releasing its hold on its puppet. Then the vampire let out a screeching roar before taking the two bodies away. After telling Souta to look after the girl, Kagome hurried to save the two but the vampire was too fast and they went underground.
"How is she?" Kagome asked when she came back.
"I think one of those things nicked her." Souta said in japanese.
Kagome kneeled down at the girl with a friendly smile and placed a hand on her head. With her miko ability she can see the worms moving inside the little girl. She couldn't help but wonder if she could save her.
"Sweety, I want you to close your eyes for a minute, okay?" Kagome said softly.
The little girl had stopped crying and looked up at Kagome. She was still scared but the moment the miko had placed her hand on her head, she was now calmed. So she did what Kagome said and closed her eyes. Kagome placed her hand where the stinger hit her and started to heal her from head to toe. The priestess saw the worms being destroyed one by one. After a few seconds the girl was saved.
"There...all better." Kagome said "My name is Kagome and this is my little brother Souta. What's your name?"
The little girl held up her necklace that said Sofia.
"Sofia. That's a beautiful name." Kagome said "Now do you have any family members I can take you to?"
The little girl shook her head.
"Grandparents? Or an aunt? An uncle?" Souta asked
Sofia still shook her head as she started to tear up and embraced Kagome. The priestess believed the attack on her parents had put her in shock.
"Would you like to stay with us tonight?" Kagome asked the little girl.
Sofia just nodded and held on to the Priestess tighter.
"We'll try to find her family tomorrow?" She said in Japanese to her brother.
Souta nodded in understanding.
Kagome picked up the girl and the two headed to their hideout. The two knew that they were being followed but they weren't worried about it. She had placed Sutras around their hideout so they had the barrier to protect them from the monster's. Once a few had tried going through the barrier they turned into ash the moment they touched it.

In the underground tunnels the Master giant form paced back and forth around his coffin. For the passed few days he had sensed his children being killed off by an unknown source. When he felt it again he saw who it was that was killing them. It wasn't the Jew like before. To his surprise and horror it was two holy beings. He didn't think that they still existed. This could be a problem to his plan. He had to destroy them before they could do anymore damage to the plan. A part of him wished that he had dealt with them sooner as now was not the time. His giant form was damaged due to the sun, no thanks to Abraham Setrakian and his recruited hunters.
"Mein Master." Thomas Eichorst said in German. "You called for me."
"This body…is dying. The Jew has destroyed it. I can not fight the holy beings with such a weak form."
"What can I do, my Master?" Eichorst said
"We must prepare for my revenge and my succession." The Master said "First, have Bolivar reclaim the loam. Then bring me the children."
Eichorst bowed his head as his master walked away.

The next day Kagome was woken up by the sunlight that came from the window. The priestess mently groan but got up regardlessly. They have been hunting since 2am and they would normally sleep till noon. But since they have the little girl with them she left the curtains up a little so the sunlight could wake her up. So the priestess got up and stretched a little as she looked to the side of her bed where the little one slept. Last night she offered the little girl her bed and that she would sleep on the couch but the little girl didn't want to be alone.
"Sofie. Sofie, honey, it's time to wake up." She said, shaking the girl's shoulder a little.
Kagome smiled when the little girl scrunched up her face as she started to wake up. Once she was awake she made some breakfast for the kid and tried to talk to her a little. She still didn't speak for a bit but when Kagome mentioned about taking her home Sofia told her her home address. Sadly she really didn't have family members in the city. Her mom was an only child and her grandparents died, her dad had an older brother but he lives in Ireland along with his parents as well. Phones and internet were still down so the little girl had no one to care for her. Kagome knew what she had to do. Once they were done and ready they headed out to Sofia's house. Kagome didn't wake up her brother as he needed to sleep plus she was prepared in case something happened. Now these days its people that had become looters and let their fear take over were the problem in the day time. They reached Sofia's house and managed to pack a few of her things; clothes, shoes, toothbrush, hair brush and some things to keep her entertained. Kagome didn't like it but food was running so she packed some stuff that was in the cabinets and fridge. She even took some toiletries from the bathroom. When they were done they were gonna head back to the hideout but they were stopped by three vampires that were covered in armor to protect them from the sun. Kagome quickly placed Sofia behind her before unsheathing her katana.
"Stop. We don't mean you harm, holy one." The lead vampire said
"And why should I believe you?" She asked
"Cause if we wanted you dead, we would have shot you already." The Vampire said
"Who are you?" She asked
"My name is Vaun." He said "My lords would like to talk business with you."
Kagome didn't sense hostilagil or hunger from them so she believed these vampires were from a different clan. She sheathed her katana but it didn't mean she was dropping her guard.

Abraham Setrakian had gone back to the place where the Master was. The event was still baffling to him as he was sure the sun would kill him but it didn't. He tried to follow the path where the Master had run off and it led him to another building where was met with the vampire Vaun. He and a few others that were armed and covered in sunproof gear took Setrakians' sword and covered his head as they took him to their layer.
"I'm removing the bag now." Vaun said "Any sudden moves and I'll kill you. Nod if you understand."
Abraham nodded, so Vaun took the sack off his head. The old man looked around and saw Vaun, two guard vampires in the back, Kagome with Sofia to her side and someone else he didn't expect to see. Gus, the younger brother of the junkie that stole his clock from the pawn shop.
"Wha…" Gus said in surprised "I know this guy."
"Give me my cane." Abraham growled
He tried to grab the cane from Gus but he was faster.
"No way, old man." Gus said and checked out the cane and saw that it was a silver sword. "He owns a pawn shop in my neighborhood in Harlem. He's not a threat."
"You're the idiot brother of the man-child who stole my clock." Abraham glared
"I brought you your clock back." Gus chuckled
Having enough Vaun told them to shut up and to follow him underground.
"You work for this filth?" Abraham asked Gus as they walked down the staircase.
"You know what they say. You gotta stay on top of the food chain, OG." Gus said
"You and five strigoi. Not very smart." Abraham said before looking at Kagome. "And you, What brings you here?"
"Have no idea. All my brother and I've been doing is killing those vampires out there for a couple of weeks now." Kagome said "I could only guess this clan wants an alliance if they're against the one that started this outbreak."
"Your hunter?" Abraham asked
"Silence. You will approach with all due respect." Vaun warned "The little girl should stay here."
Sofia held on to Kagome tight as she didn't want to separate from Kagome. Seeing how the girl was scared Gus volunteered to stay with her. Normally Kagome wouldn't want to separate from her but after sensing the three ancient creatures in the other room she believed it was for the best. They walked into a room where there were three elder vampires standing in the middle of the place. Abraham looked at them with awe and fear as he knew who they were. For Kagome, she had spent so much time with Sesshomaru that she had learned to control her facial expression. But she didn't drop her guard at all.
"They exist." He whispered "The Ancients."
"They're sleeping now, but they can hear and understand everything. I speak for them. What do you know of the seventh one of their kind?" Vaun said
"The-The seventh?" Abraham asked
"The one you call the Master…you injured him." Vaun said
"How do you know this?" Abraham asked
"The seven share a common mind. But the seventh has the power to disrupt thought." Vaun said "When you injured him, he lost control. So they saw you fighting."
"And now he has recovered enough to shield himself from you once again." Abraham replied "What do you want?"
"They want to make an alliance with you two. Sometimes great enemies become allies so they can fight a common foe." Vaun explained
"Do they know how to kill him?" Abraham asked
"I think, for obvious reasons, they won't answer that question." Vaun said
"Then I don't see how they can help me." Abraham said
"No. You're here to help them. Over the millennia they have gathered vast resources that could help you in your hunt." Vaun said
"A legend has passed down through the centuries concerning a book…an ancient tome of uncertain provenance and some say divine inspiration." Abraham said "The Occido Lumen."
The moment he said that the three ancient creatures started to grunt and twitch in their sleeping stance. Kagome could sense that they were angry and worried about what he said.
"And what do you know of this book?" Vaun asked
"I now have proof that it exists." Abraham said
They grunted and twitched again.
"What are they saying?" Kagome asked
"They're trying to decide whether he should live. And now that you have heard this, you as well." Vaun said
"You and all them know I could kill without such a thing." Kagome said in Japanese.
"Indeed. But still." Vaun said
"I vowed to hunt the Master until the day I died." Abraham stated "If today is that day, then so be it."
They grunted again.
"All right. Here's the bargain. They'll let you two live, but you must guarantee that when you find the Master, you will alert us." Vaun said
"Fair enough." Abraham nodded
The three ancients grunted and twitched again but this time it was different. They started to move upward.
"They're waking now. Yeah." Vaun said "We'd best leave. They're gonna be hungry."
By that two vampire guards came in as they dragged a chain man to the center of the three ancients. The man was begging for help and Kagome almost moved to do so but Vaun must have known she would and held out a hand to stop her. The three ancients got up and shot out their stingers at the man for a few minutes before circling him and slashing his side before pricing him with their stingers again and draining him down.
"As you walk on in the daylight, never forget this." Abraham said to Kagome.
Kagome wasn't affected by this as she had seen worse and gruesomeness from demons. She hurried back to find Sofia and mentally sigh in relief that she was safe and had her headphones on, listening to music.
"Thank you, for watching her." Kagome said
Gus nodded.
"Come on, Sofia, let's get going." She said
She took the little hand and walked back up the staircase.
"Don't mind us. I know where the exit is. And Sir, you might want to follow us or you could have them show you the way out blind folded again." Kagome said
Gus, Abraham and Vaun couldn't help but watch her leave.
"Is she part of your group, OG?" Gus asked
"No. But I guess now she is." Abraham said before following her.
