I do not own…
Quinlan returned to his penthouse after his little meeting with the Ancients. He was irritated at their actions. They should have ended the Rouge Ancients centuries ago but they didn't. His first plan is to track down the human hunter and priestess soon before finding more hunters.
When he entered the living room he stopped in his tracks. The hybrid stood there, waiting for them to make their attack. He had already smelled her scent before he got on the elevator. After waiting a bit Quinlan took a stepback with ease as a large boomerang was thrown towards him. Then a small figure came with quick human speed and started attacking him with a katana. He was able to dodge and block every attack thrown at him with ease before breaking the katana in half.
"Your aim is still a bit off." He said
The boomerang came back and the young woman jumped out of the way and caught it. She wore a black and pink full bodysuit and a mental mouth mask. A tiny cat jumped down from the ceiling and onto her shoulder. This was a very unique cat as it had red amber eyes, a black patch that's shaped like a diamond and four tails. She has been the womans' family pet for many years.
"I can't believe you left without me. I thought we were partners." She glared. "Do you have any idea what we had to do to get here? We had to jump out of a plane because no one is allowed to land anywhere here. I was lucky that Kilala could fly."
"Consider it as part of your training." He said
He took off his coat and placed it on a coat hanger that was by the door. Then he walked over to a table and started to remove all his weapons from his person.
"You are my apprentice. You can't expect me to tell you want to do and coddle you the whole time." He said "You need to learn how to move on your own without my help."
"You just didn't want me to meet the old geezers." She scoffed and crossed her arms.
"Haru." He said with a warning tone.
After taking a deep breath the woman was able to calm down and took off her mask. Haru is a descendant from Sango and Miroku. The family was a mix of both holy monks and hunters but during the years the bloodline had split into two branches, separating them throughout the years. Haru came from the hunting side. Her father was the oldest in the family and inherited their ancestor weapon, Hiraikotsu. When he died he passed it on to her, along with Kilala. The neko always stayed with the hunter side of the family.
Quinlan is an old friend of her father and is Haru's godfather. A few years ago Harus' father and he were on a hunt. It was a lead to the rouge ancient but it turned out to be a trap. Her father got struck by the vampire stinger and the worms got in him. Before ending his life Quinlan promised his friend that he'll look after Haru. He trained the girl well and was one of his best human students. She was talented in combat and weapons but she had a temper that makes her lose her focus at times.
"So is it true? Is he here?" She asked
"Yes." He said "He got injured. He's weak now."
Really? Who did it?" She asked
"It was done by a human named Abraham Setrakian. The ancients brought him in to help them with the rogue one. But he wasn't the only one." He said "There's a Priestess in the city."
This got Harus' attention. She had always thought holy beings had died out years ago. Even her cousins from the other side didn't have any holy abilities anymore.
"Really? Do they know who she is?" She asked
"Kagome Higurashi. That's what they called her." He said
The name made Kilalas' ears perk. Haru had heard the name before but she couldn't remember where. It was something from a story her father used to tell her when she was little.
"So what's the plan, Quinlan?" She asked
"I want to search for the Priestess first before meeting the hunter." He said after removing his last blade. "She's the one that's causing him the most stress. His numbers are low now because of her. He'll try to get rid of her." He then looked out the window and saw the sun coming up. "Get some rest."
Haru nodded and strapped Hiraikotsu behind back. She grabbed her bag and headed off to find herself a room. Quinlan went to stand in front of the window and looked at the city. The states were never to his taste. Never saw the beauty of it. His attention was taken away as he heard Kilala's paws pattering his way. Looking down he saw the little neko sitting next to him and rubbed her head against his leg. Quinlan bent down and scratched her head.
"I noticed your interest when I mentioned the Priestess name." Quinlan said
He knew that the Neko could understand him. She was more intelligent than any creature that he's ever met.
"Do you know who she is?" He asked
Kilala nodded and looked out the window. She hopes that it is the Kagome she knew as it would be nice to see an old friend.

It has been four days since Kagome fell unconscious. She scared everyone when she didn't wake up the next day. Nora had let Shippo move her to her room so she could have some privatess. She would come in every hour to check the priestess pulse and to make sure her other vital signs are okay. Sofia and Zack had stayed by her side ever since. Right now, the two were playing in teams with Souta and Shippo in Go Fish. Shippo and Sofia were winning so far.
"How's it going?" Nora asked
She came into the room with a plate of sandwiches and a bowl of chips for them.
"Shippo's cheating in Go Fish." Souta scoffed
"Am not." Shippo pouted
"Are too." Souta said "You guys won three games."
"You two just have bad cards." Shippo smirked
"It's Go Fish, there is no such thing as bad cards." Souta glared
He ended up throwing a chip at him and Shippo threw some back.
"How is it that the children are more well behaved than you two?" Nora said
Zack and Sofia just laughed as they ate their sandwich.
"See, I knew you were cheating." Souta glared
He spotted a few cards that were tucked in Shippos' right sleeve. Souta pounced on him and the two ended up wrestling on the ground. Zack was cheering on Souta as he had the upper hand while Nora grabbed the food before they knocked it to the ground. Sofia just sat on the bed and giggled at the scene. They reminded her of how her father and his friend play-fight when they have a disagreement. Her mom told her it's how men bond sometimes. None of them noticed Kagome starting to open her eyes. It was the fighting that woke her up. She was wondering what her brother and son were arguing about this time. All she got was Shippo cheating on a game and Souta was mad about it.
"Souta! Shippo! That's enough!" She shouted
Her yelling got the two to stop their fighting.
"Kagome! You're up!" Sofia smiled and quickly hugged her.
"How do you feel?" Nora asked
"A bit thirsty. And I'm very hungry right now." Kagome said "How long was I out?"
"About four days." Souta said
Shippo quickly got up and gave her a glass of water.
"You pretty much scared everyone." He said
"Did anything happen while I was out?" She asked before taking a sip.
"Well…we lost Reggie. Nora and Zack were attacked by the children of the damned. The old man, Fet, Reggie and I were able to find them and one of them nicked him." Souta explained "I tried to heal him like how you did but…I wasn't strong enough. Abraham put him down before he could turn."
Kagome closed her eyes and said a silent prayer for the man. She didn't know the man very well but the man did try to help them.
"Then for some drama news…we got a new house guest. Nikki. She just arrived yesterday. She's Dutchs' roommate. Dutch and Fet found her hiding in their apartment." Shippo smirked before speaking in japanese. "And seeing how it was a one bedroom apartment they are definitely more than just roommates." After seeing the annoyed look on Kagomes' face he spoke in English again. "Sorry, mom, but back to the story. She sprained her ankle so Dutch brought here and has been staying here since. As for Fet…well he hasn't taken it very well."
"Yeah, he's been kind of…sulky lately. He's been trying to talk to Dutch about their relationship…but she's been asking him for some space." Souta said "I swear it's only like how you and Inuyasha used to get into fights."
He mentally kicked himself for saying that and Shippo glared at him. Inuyasha was still a sore subject for her. There was a bit of sadness in her eyes but Kagome pushed the old memories of him away. After eating a few sandwiches Kagome got up to take a much needed shower. Once she was alone she let out a shuddering sigh. A few tears came out as she remembered how he died. Naraku was destroyed and the Shikon Jewel was hollow now, never to be wished upon again. They were about to head back to the village but Inuyasha quickly came in between her and an arrow that Kikyo shot. The dead priestess had betrayed them once again and tried to kill Kagome out of jealousy. Sango ended up killing the woman while Kagome tried to save Inuyasha. But the arrow had hit his heart and was filled with demon poison.
"Don't die! Please! Inuyasha! Please don't die!" She cried
Inuyasha looked at her with a grim smile and weakly handed her Tessaiga.
"I'm…sorry….Ka-Ka-gome." He whispered
He coughed out blood and relaxed on the ground.
"F-F-For…give…me."
Those were the last words he said before his eyes went dull and his body went limp. Kagome cried more as she buried her face into his chest and called out his name, begging him to come back. Unknowingly she still held Tessaiga in her hand as held him. Kagome was in such a depressed state that had stayed in the modern time permanently. It took a while but her family was able to bring her back to life and did her best to move on. She tried a few dates that her friends had tried to set her up back then. Supernatural or human, none of them ever felt right or worked well. Hell, even her cousin had tried to set her up with someone for her wedding.
Kagome shook her head and scolded herself for crying.
'Inuyasha wouldn't want this. He wouldn't want me to be crying for him. He would tell me to focus on the enemy and find a way to destroy it.' She thought.
A smile was placed on her face as she thought more about him. She knew if he was here he would have had a grand time fighting off these vampire creatures. He would have cut them down in ease with Tessaiga.
'Actually, Tessaiga would be a great help right now.' She mused
She still had the sword. It was kept hidden in her house, along with her Sacred bow.
'I knew I should have taken Sesshomarus' offer in taking his private jet. Then I could have brought it with me.' She sighed
She wished Shippo had thought of bringing it when he came but knew that he wouldn't be able to touch it without getting burned. The barrier was still on it so no other demon could touch it.
When she was done Kagome turned off the water and started drying herself. Once she dried and got dressed the Priestess headed downstairs to meet everyone.
"Well look whos' up. Morning Sleeping Beauty." Fet said
"You gave us quite a scare, Kagome." Dutch said and hugged her.
"I'm sorry about that." Kagome smiled
Abraham, who was sitting in the kitchen eating, looked at her with worry.
"Are you alright?" He asked
"Yes…I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to worry everyone." Kagome said
"It would be best for you to not overdo it again. You're a valuable member to us. We're gonna need you when we face the Master." He said
"Come on, Setrakian, there's no need to put more pressure on her." Dutch said
Setrakian ignored her comment and asked Kagome if she was up for looking into one of the warehouses Palmer owned. Despite Nora and Dutchs' concern, Kagome agreed and left to get her gear. It was hard to leave as Sofia latched onto her leg, begging her not to go. The Priestess knew her being unconscious for four days must have scared the little girl more. So Kagome doubled pinky-promised her that she would come back and that she'll spend the whole day with her tomorrow. What sealed the deal was giving the hollow Shikon Jewel for her to hold on to.
"This is called Shikon Jewel. This means a lot to me. It belonged to my family for many years." She said as she placed the necklace on the little girl. "I want you to hang on to this for me. This here is my promise that I'll come back. Do you believe me?"
The little girl looked at the hollow jewel and fiddled with it a bit. Looking back up, Sofia nodded before hugging the Priestess.
"Please be careful, Kagome." She whispered
"I promise." Kagome smiled
She kissed the little girl's head and headed off with Shippo, Fet and Abraham.

They were able to get to the old warehouse while the sun was still up. When they got out of the bread truck Kagome couldn't help but keep looking around. She had a feeling that they were being followed and it wasn't by the rogue vampires. One aura was human, the other felt like a vampires' but it was different and there was a demonic aura. She almost stopped when it felt familiar but couldn't remember who it was from.
"You sense them too, right?" Shippo asked in Japanese.
"Yeah, but they don't feel threatening. They could be scouts for the Ancients." Kagome said
"Actually…I might know who this one is." Shippo whispered
They reached the fenced up gate and Fet took out fence clippers.
"She's dealing with so much now." Fet muttered what Dutch told him before they left. "Dealing with what? Leaving her apartment closet? What? A twisted ankle?"
"Mr. Fet, your romantic worries have no relevance at this moment. None at all." Abraham said
"I think what Mr. Setrakian means is that we should focus on the task for now." Kagome said
"She's right. The vampire stench is all over the place." Shippo said as he hopped over the fence with ease. "We need your head in the game here, buddy."
Fet nodded and clipped the last part of the fence.
"So I was right. Something bad has happened here." Abraham said
"Well, let's have a closer look." Fet said and pulled the fence away. "Ladies first."
Shippo had to hold back a growl as Fet tried to give Kagome a flirty smile. Fet has become a friend to him but he wasn't gonna let the man use his mother to get back at Dutch. Kagome saw this too and decided to ignore it for now as she went through the fence. When they got closer to the building Shippo spotted a school bus parked inside. They looked inside and Fet found out that it was a bus for a school of blind kids. Shippo took a sniff and their scent was about a week old.
"I trust you all came prepared?" Abraham asked
"I'm always prepared." Fet said
Kagome nodded by looking to the side as she sensed the three auras were closer now.
Watching closely a security guard had spotted the group and was about to call for backup. Quinlan had stopped him and knocked the man out with a few blows. They have been following the group for a while. The vampire was surprised to see Shippo in the city and that he was hanging around with a bunch of humans. He met the fox demon about three hundred years ago and has considered the creature an ally and a friend. Quinlan looked at the rest of the group and his eyes landed on Kagome. He had to admit that she was beautiful and it was her eyes that drew him to her. He's been to Japan a couple of times but has never met one with beautiful Sapphire blue eyes. The vampire looked away from her and tried to focus back on why they were there. They watched as the group followed Kagome. The Priestess followed the aura of where the vampires were and it led them to an underground place that had a pool that was filled with dirt. Both Kagome and Abraham unsheathed their swords as they entered the place. There were a few children's bodies on the floor, dead.
"These critters. Dead." Fet stated "Neck snapped."
"Culled from the herd." Abraham said
"Getting rid of the weak. Lovely." Shippo scoffed
"What is this, like a mass grave?" Fet asked as he looked at the pool filled with dirt.
Kagome looked at the kid's bodies in sadness. This was wrong. The Master was sounding like Naraku every day.
"No. It's a nursery." She said
Fet looked at the canes and understood what she meant.
"Blind kids. That just ain't right." Fet muttered
With his hearing Shippo was the first to warn them.
"We got company coming." He said
A few kid vampires came crawling on all fours from the shadows. They hissed at them and tried to attack the group. Fet shot a few rounds at them but they were too fast. When one came close to Kagome the creature jumped out of the way when a large tiger came out of nowhere and pounced at it.
'Is that…' She thought
Kilala shot some of her fire at the creature and it screeched from the pain. The Neko demon stood in front of the Priestess, protecting her old companion. All the kid vampires backed away more when they sensed two more in the room. Kagome saw that it was the vampire that had been following her and a girl that looked almost like Sango but had Mirokus' eyes.
"Shippo, do you know who they are?" Kagome whispered
"Quinlan? Is that you?" Shippo asked
"It's been away, Shippo." Quinlan said
He walked down the staircase as he looked at the group of hunters. They had some potential in them. Though he couldn't help but linger a bit longer on Kagome. Being this close he nearly shutter at the raw power that he could sense from her. He could see the Ancients and the Master feared her.
Haru followed behind her master but looked over at Kagome. She was worried when Kilala just ran off and showed her true form to a bunch of strangers. She never saw Kilala act like that before, only towards her and her family. Now she wonders who this woman is.
A kid vampire climbed on the wall and landed in front of Quinlan. It tried to attack him but Quinlan was fast and ended up backhanding the creature. He grabbed another creature that was nearby and killed it with his sword. Another jumped on the edge of the pool and tried to hit him with its stinger. The vampire grabbed ahold of it and pulled the whole thing out, killing it. Haru quickly used her Hiraikotsu on one that tried to attack her master from behind. The boomerang weapon cut the child vampire in half but it didn't kill it. The creature backed away and tried crawling back to the pool. Haru caught Hiraikotsu when it came back and stepped on its intestines before it could dive into the dirt. She ended up stabbing it with her weapon. As more were crawling on the wall, she picked up Hiraikotsu again and swung it at them. She hit them all in one throw and they fell to the ground, dead.
"She's definitely Sangos' descendant." Shippo whistled
After the two were sure all the child vampires were gone they composed themselves and sheathed their weapons.
"Hello Professor and Ms Hirguashi." Quinlan said, looking at the old man.
Abraham looked at the new creature with wonder and amazement. Quinlan walked over to the pool and picked one of the white worms that tried to wiggle back into the dirt.
"The Ancients gave me your names." He said "Professor Setrakain and Kagome Higurashi. I followed you here."
"But…who are you?" Abraham asked
"My name is Quinlan. Just as Shippo mentioned. This is my human apprentice Haru. And the neko is her companion, Kilala." Quinlan said before glancing at Kagome. "Though I have a feeling you two already know each other." Then he looked back at the older hunter. "And you and I have something very much in common."
"And what is that?" Abraham asked
"We are both hunting the Master." Quinlan said
"You know the Ancients?" Kagome asked
"Hold on. What are the Ancients?" Fet asked as he still had his gun pointed at Quinlan. "What the hell is this guy?"
"If you discharge that weapon in my direction or my companions I shall come over there and tear you apart." Quinlan glared
Fet tried to be smartass and gesture for him to try anything so Kagome came into between them.
"Enough. If he wanted to kill us, he would have done it by now." She said
"And you believe he won't because?" Fet asked
"Shippo knows him. He would never befriend anyone that's evil." She said
Seeing that he was hesitating, Kagome gave him her best pleading look that always worked on Inuyasha and grandfather. Fet tried to look away but he was trapped and finally lowered the gun down.
"I see you've been hunting the Master for some time." Quinlan said
"Most of my life. You?" Abraham asked
"All of mine." Quinlan stated
Then he looked down at the sword the older hunter held. He remembered that sword hundreds of years ago. It was in 1873, Gorrim, Albania. He had heard the rumors of the Giant possessed by a demon and knew it was the Masters doing. He found the sword in the underground of the castle where the Master left behind village children that he turned. In the end he killed them with the sword itself.
"You know of this cane?" Abraham asked, "The Sardu legend."
"That cane is proof that it is not a legend." Quinlan said as he walked down the steps of the pool. "There are no myths, Professor. Only exaggerations."
"Or hidden truth. Like the Ancients." Abraham said
"So what did they tell you?" Kagome asked
"They told me about a mortal and a holy being who'd succeeded in hunting down. One that has cut his army down a bit while the other wounded the Master." Quinlan said "The Dark Lord has taken on various forms over the centuries, but always by choice. No one has ever forced him to transform. Until now."
He bowed his head in gratitude.
"He has taken on a new form?" Abraham said in worried
"And yet your first victory is a minor one compared to this." Quinlan said
"What's that?" Abraham asked
"You have led me to his nesting place." Quinlan said
