Record of Ragnarok Rising Sun

1000 years after the events of the first Ragnarok Showdown between the gods and mankind, humanity has progressed into a new age of peace and prosperity. However, a new threat has emerged and in turn a second Ragnarok has begun. And without sufficient Valkyries to serve as humanities combatant's Volunds, it most certainly seems like curtains for mankind. Or is it?

Chapter 1

Solar Intervention

Council of Valhalla, Parliament Building

The Parliament Building was abuzz with the god's chatter and whispers, unsurprising, since this was their first meeting after their defeat at the hands of humanity 1000 years ago in the first Ragnarok showdown. Some of them gossiped in excitement, while more relished in the opportunity to punish humanity for the humiliation they had subjugated on the gods.

However, they were all silenced by the heavy strike of a gavel, made by a decrepit, frail looking elderly god in a toga. His head is almost bald, save for a spike of hair in the center and his long white beard. His sunken, almost pupiless eyes sweeping across the room of now silent deities. Zeus, Chairman of the Council of Valhalla, Chief God of the Greek Pantheon was ready to begin the conference. "Well, it's nice to see everyone here so lively and ready to begin. It feels like only yesterday that we were all gathered here, ready to annihilate mankind, only to be beaten by them through Ragnarok is it not? So what shall our next course of action be? Have the humans put these past 1000 years to good use? Improving upon themselves and deserving of living another millennia? Or are they still corrupt and cancerous to this earth that they warrant our divine retribution? Show me the will of the gods."

This single comment caused ripples of anger and barely suppressed outrage to pass through a number of the gathered gods, how dare the humans rebel against their creators? How dare they obtain victory over the gods, a chance they only had because of some stupid clause enacted as a mere joke? It was an outrage, a travesty. It was clear to them that humanity had only bought little time through their past victory, this time the gods would destroy mankind for all their transgressions. Yet amongst these few angry immortals, vying for blood, there were others who saw things differently.

"If I may father, I would like to point out that in the past millennia, we have witnessed humanity go through some exceptional improvements, almost every nation is at peace, the natural environment has been gradually improving, and their technology, history and culture has flourished greatly. and it is in my humble opinion that they are deserving of surviving the next 1000 years." All the gods' heads turned to see who had made this statement, they were greeted by Ares, Greek God of war, dressed in his usual attire consisting of a red cape, black loincloth and his signature helmet atop his head.

"As much as i hate to admit it" came a second voice,"he's right, those guys aren't the same stinkers we had a millennia ago. To me, they have improved enough to avoid being wiped out by us this time, so my votes against their destruction as well." This time the source was the Chief god of the Hindu Pantheon and one of the thirteen godly combatants in the first Ragnarok, Shiva, who was lazily lounging on his pillow, stretching his four arms, one of which matched the rest of his Indigo coloured skin, while the other three were made of metal and robotics. Battle scars from his bout with Raiden Tameemon in the fifth round of Ragnarok.

Upon hearing the two gods' reasoning, others began voicing their agreement,"Humanity has indeed changed for the better, and not simply rest upon the laurels of their first victory, becoming more beautiful as a result. So my vote will be for their survival." said Apollo, Greek God of the Sun.

"My votes for them too, the planet has been in the best shape I have seen since my last Peach banquet, the animals live rather harmoniously with mankind, the forests and jungles flourish and bloom, and there hasn't been a single major war in the last one hundred years. They have truly progressed." This time it was the Queen Mother of the West from the Celestial Pantheon who had made her voice heard.

More and More gods who had been silent or unwilling to voice out their support for mankind's survival slowly began to do so, after seeing so many influential deities sharing their views. Soon the Parliament Building, once filled with angry murmurs, now was full of support and grudging respect for humanity. Zeus chuckled lightly at this sudden change of attitude, "Well since you all have voiced out your opinions, let's not waste anymore time and get to the voting shall we? Those in favor of Mankind's continued existence for the next 1000 years, and those in favor of their immediate destruction, raise up your respective signs."

a surge of hands lifted up, with quarter of them showing a red X, while the rest showed a green circle. Humanity had achieved their continued existence for the next millennia by a vote of more than half in their favor. A small groan came from the gods who were still bitter about their previous loss, but a more audible sound of approval and cheer came from the majority of gods.

Whilst all this was occuring, above at the topmost stand of the building, a lone figure watched the gods conference and its conclusion with relief and pride. She wore a green jacket over a white shirt with black shorts, her hair was illac coloured and now reached her shoulder levels, with a golden wing-shaped hairpin on the left side of her bangs. This was Göll, the thirteenth and youngest of the surviving Valkyries, and sister of Brunhilde, the person who had originally challenged the gods with the clause of Ragnarok to eventually secure their victory, and their survival. And it seemed that her efforts had not gone to waste, humanity was safe once more from the wrath of the gods.

Göll sighed gently, "Big sis, if only you could see the fruits of your labor now. Gods and humans now respect each other. And another millennia of peace and progress is to come for mankind."

Her train of thoughts were interrupted by another strike of Zeus's gavel,"Well, since we have come to an agreement that humans have proved themselves worthy of living another 1000 years or so. I now pronounce this meeting adjour-"

"BANG!" The chairman was interrupted by the doors to the meeting room bursting open with great force and impact. and through the cloud of smoke produced, the outline of three figures stood in the doorway. The first one on the left was that of a muscular man, his skin though was blue in color, with black face paint covering his eyes, his six pack and chest was partially covered only by a jaguar skinned cape, his bottom half was dressed with a white loincloth and woven sandals on his feet. But perhaps most striking of all, was the strange headdress he wore upon his head, the back of it was a vibrant plumage of green feathers, but the front was the ghastly abnormally large skull of a hummingbird. This was Huitzilopochtli, Chief God of the Aztec Pantheon and its God of the Sun.

His companion on the right side was a beautiful woman, her skin was pale, and her hair white with golden undertones, her eyes a piercing gold. She wore a red kimono with gold accents with woven ropes tied fashionably around it, forming straps across her shoulders and a belt with a knot and bell in the middle of her waist. in her hands she carried a golden ornate mirror with intricate detailing. and slightly above her forehead, a headdress that was shaped as a four pointed star with a lustrous white pearl in its center. This lady was the Chief God of the Shinto Pantheon, and also its Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu.

Finally, in between the two of them, stood a copper skinned man who looked like he was in his fifties. He wasn't as muscular nor tall as Huitzilopochtli, but he was still in great shape. Both his arms wore gold bracers with precious gems engraved in them, he fashioned the usual outfit of an Egyptian pharaoh, a half pleated skirt wound around his body with a pleated section at the front, leopards skin cape placed over a usekh, a broad neck piece worn by ancient Egyptian elites, with the symbol of the Duat placed in the middle. And a lion's tail hanging from his belt, which had the image of a scarab beetle at its center. Atop his head he wore a pharaoh's Nemes, on top of it rested a Uraerus, the stylized upright form of a cobra used as a symbol of sovereignty, royalty and divine authority in Egypt, with the sun-disk inside it. his eyes glowed orange. Around his left eye was a tattoo of the Eye of Ra which completed his look. While compared to his two companions at either side, the man didn't look as impressive, the other gods, even Zeus, in the room immediately went to bow at his presence. For this man was another Chief God and Solar Deity, as well as so much more, he was Ra of the Egyptian pantheon, one of the oldest and powerful gods in all of heaven, and a former Chairman of the Council of Valhalla.

With a lazy wave, Ra dismissed the groveling gods, before slowly making his way towards the center of the room where Zeus was seated, tailed by his two fellow sun gods. Zeus, recovering from the shock of the appearance of Ra, who had not been seen for many a millenia, cleared his throat and spoke, "I-i see that his excellency Lord Ra had graced us with his presence after so long, tell me old friend, what brings you here today?"

Ra, who was now a few feet or so away from where Zeus sat, glanced around the silent room of gods, awaiting his reply with a smirk, before replying in a refined and commanding voice, "My visit here, is for one purpose and ONE purpose only, to restore the honor of the god which you all have so CARELESSLY lost to those insignificant insects ravaging the earth, in that ridiculous bout you all call Ragnarok a millennia ago. However, DO correct me if I misheard, but I'm quite certain I heard most of you vote in FAVOR of their survival, despite the fact that they had so disrespectfully rebelled against and humiliated you all?" Ra's face still retained a calm and collected look, but Zeus could see that his eyes boiled with barely held back fury.

Zeus shifted uncomfortably in his chair before replying slowly, "Lord Ra, with all due respect... Many in the council have seen the potential humans have after all the improvements they have shown in the past years. Hence, we have decided it is best to allow them to continue living on earth... And yes, we did lose Rangnarok, but Humanity put up a commendable display of power, skill and heart that matched our godly strength and was able to turn the tide and earn their victory."

At this, Amaterasu let out a scoff, and in a soft yet condescending voice spoke, "you managed to LOSE to those feeble weaklings, and instead of feeling shame and begging for Lord Ra's forgiveness, you talk about how their supposed "skills" can match the gods? your mind must be addled Zeus, were it not for those meddling Valkyries and their Volunds." At this point, she tilted her head to scowl at Göll, who was not too long ago sure of and relieved of mankind's continued survival, was now anxiously watching the scene below unfold. "The humans would have ABSOLUTELY no way of even touching our levels of power, much less KILL seven of us."

Huitzilopochtli let out a cocky guffaw at this, "Oh PLEASE Amy, the humans could wipe the FLOOR with you, even if they were unarmed and butt naked considering how weak you are, I'm willing to bet that you wouldn't even last a MINUTE in there." At this insult from her companion, and the laughter of the other gods in the room.

Amaterasu's face scrunched up in fury as she glared at the unapologetic aztec god who gave a cheeky sneer at her in turn. "Do forgive my colleagues barbaric nature, "she replied, turning around to face Zeus once again, "he is rather insecure and will insult anyone since muscles is ALL he has, his brain is so miniscule that he wouldn't KNOW a good insult if it slapped him in the face and halfway across the earth."

Her retort led to more laughter from the gods, as Hutzilopochtli opened his mouth in fury, about to fire back at the Shinto goddess. Before Ra's booming voice echoed throughout the room breaking up their squabble. "SILENCE! I do not keep the two of you around me to hear you embarrass yourselves whilst arguing like toddlers!" At this both the arguing sun gods decided to shut up.

Ra turn back around to face Zeus, "Do not try to feed me MANURE as an answer Zeus, Humanity may have ' LEARNT ' their so called lesson this time, but eventually they WILL revert to their old ways, they will once again be violent, ignorant and disrespectful to their world and the gods. They will wage wars with one another, they will engage in sins and vices, they will abuse and take the rewards reaped for them by past generations for will NEVER truly change, the one and only solution is to eradicate them once and for ALL." Ra finished with a fiery glare.

Zeus now twitched in annoyance, Ra may be one of the oldest gods there was, but he would not take the level of disrespect the former Chairman was showing him. "Well, if that is indeed how you feel, perhaps you should wait for the next meeting, to use that same argument to get your point across. For as you can see, we have already reached a consensus, and seeing that you are no LONGER Chairman of the Council, you will have to learn to RESPECT the council's authority as one of its members."

Ra lips formed a small smirk, as he now walked even closer to Zeus, till he was looming over the Chairman, "i don't think you understood me clearly, Zeus, i was not making an argument... I was simply INFORMING you of what is to come, but since you will not HEED my warning..." And before Zeus could even respond, Ra's arm shot out as quickly as a serpent, grabbing hold of his neck and hurling him across the room. And with a heavy "CRASH!" the mighty Zeus slammed roughly on one side of the room, leaving a spider web of cracks on the wall. Before falling down to the floor, knocked out for the count."

Seeing this, many of the gods gasped in shock, before fearfully turning to look at the Egyptian Sun God, who hadn't even broken sweat and was now staring at them all, his expression challenging any of them to dare try and question his authority like Zeus did. as the other Greek Gods in the room rushed to their leaders aid, Ra lowered himself upon the Chairman's seat, watching as Ares gently lifted his fathers unconscious body off the ground and hurrying off to the closest infirmary, followed by Hermes, Apollo, Aphrodite and a number of other greek gods, none of them daring to turn and meet his gaze.

Ra then turned to the crowd of gods, who were now awaiting his next words in fear and awe, he allowed them a few moments for the shock to wear off before speaking, "Seeing as the Chairman is in such a critical condition right now, i shall step in and take emergency control over his position, any questions?" He asked his audience, the gods all fearfully nodded their heads.

"Very good to see that we are in agreement. Now my first act as the chairman of the council would be to INSTANTLY carry out the eradication of every single human in existence. However..." Ra paused, Göll and the other gods waited for his next words with bated breath. "I feel that we should give the humans one last fighting chance, and I myself would like to see the so-called grit that humans possess. Hence I decree that a SECOND Ragnarok shall be held next week. And once mankind loses, they shall finally be WIPED off the face of this world. "With that he looked up at Göll who had a look of horror plastered on her face. before cruelly sneering, "l wish your side all the best, little Valkyrie."
