Wild's POV
Two little girls flew out of the house at high trajectory, startling me into Twilight's side.
Twilight took a step back as well.
Link laughed and hugged the girls. Now that they were still, I could see that they were twins.
They were identical. They had raven black hair, shining grey eyes (although one twin had darker grey eyes and the other's was silver), and tan skin from working in the sun all day.
"Link? Is that you?" A woman's voice came from through the door. "Come inside!"
Link struggled to walk inside with the two girls clinging to him. He waved for us to follow.
I took in a deep breath, Twilight's hand on my shoulder. I steeled myself and walked through the door, not at all ready for what lies on the other side.
The inside of the house is exactly like it is gonna be one hundred years in the future, when it's mine and Zelda's.
The living room/kitchen/dining room took up most of the house. The kitchenette was tucked into the corner with a sink, oven, cabinet space, and a counter top.
The table was set for seven, Link must've sent a letter ahead, telling his family he was bringing Twilight and I.
A warm fire was crackling merrily in the fireplace, in the wall where I put my melee weapons/Champions weapons.
A couch and coffee table were put directly in front of the fire. Two armchairs sat to the right and left of the low table.
A staircase led to a loft, where I'm amusing Link's parents sleep. But later becomes mine and Zelda's room.
I saw a door on the other side of the stairs, where the kids must live. Zelda and I use it for a guest room/dump for random stuff we find on our travels.
We clean it up the best we can when we're back in my Hyrule and the others need a place to sleep. That's also why we got two more beds.
A dark-skinned woman was standing at the kitchenette. She had long black hair tied back into many braids that were all in a ponytail to keep the e braids out of her face. Beads and small, faux gold rings were intertwined into her braids.
She had on a apron stained white with flour. Her eyes were hidden by a pair of dark sunglasses.
She smiled kindly when she turned around. "Link?"
"Yes, Mama." Link said, reaching out a hand for her. "I brought some friends."
His mother smiled. "Hello, there. If you're Link's friends, you're our friends. What're your names?"
"Twilight."
"Wild."
She smiled again. "My name is Ukesa."
"That sounds like a Gerudo nameā¦" I said quietly.
Ukesa nodded. "My mother was a Gerudo, my father a Hylian. But I'm still Link's step-mother."
"They are the heroes of Hyrule's past and future." Link said, causing both of us to blush in embarrassment.
"Interestingā¦" Ukesa said.
I flinched. Footsteps were coming from the loft.
Twilight laughed kindly as I jumped into him again. But he was used to me looking to him for comfort and shielding from strangers.
"Link!" The second woman said joyously.
She looked the most like Link than the others. She had short, pixie cut blonde hair. Her eyes were sapphire blue. She had tan skin like the twins. She shared Link's chin and nose.
"Hi there," she greeted kindly. "My name is Cevi. Who are you?"
"Wild and Twilight." Ukesa answered for us. "They're Hyrule's heroes of the past and future."
"Past." Twi raised his hand. "Hero of Twilight."
"Future." I said quietly. "Hero of the Wilds. Probably Link's descendant."
Link blushed again, even though I know that's not true.
"I'm Link's birth mother." Cevi said. "After his father died in battle, I remarried Ukesa, here, and we adopted the twins a year later."
I smiled tensely, looking out at her from through Twilight's pelt.
"I won't bite, I promise." Cevi laughed. Causing me to blush, but I still didn't move.
"Dinner's ready!" Ukesa said, pulling a turkey from the oven. "Link sent a letter ahead, so we have enough food. Hopefully, I don't know how much you eat."
"He eats like a wolf." I said, trying to pry myself from Twilight.
The Hero of Twilight glared half-heartedly at me, as everyone started laughing.
I made sure to sit beside Twilight, but the oldest twin, now identified as Zarna, sat on my other side. I tried to stealthily scoot over an inch, due to my insane fear of strangers and my past.
The other twin, Phaliath (Pronounced Philly), sat across from Zarna. Ukesa was on her right side, and Cevi sat at the end of the table. Link was beside Ukesa.
The food was delicious. Twilight and I stuck to the vegetarian options. We didn't want to offend Ukesa, but once she realized we don't eat meat, she assured it was fine.
For desert, we had some cinnamon bread with butter or jam. I made a sandwich with two slices and both toppings.
Twilight looked at me crazy from around his plain slice. I stuck my tongue out at him jokingly.
The mood was light.
Conversations caused laughter and we kept talking long after the twins had been sent to bed after Phalaith fell asleep and almost spilled her glass of milk.
But the conversation came to a screeching halt once Link spoke up.
"Hey Wild, how exactly did you get those scars?"
