He looked away from her and toward the road as he crossed his arms. "I never insulted your child. Your child was a half demon. Your blood was running in his veins. If your child was alive, I would have taken him as well. If you are pregnant now, I'll adopt the child as my own, even if it doesn't inherit your hair and eye colors." He said.
They didn't say anything to one another as Chizuru was not willing to fight.
Even though Kazama said what he said simply, he was wondering if Chizuru was really pregnant now.
He looked at Chizuru's stomach from the corner of his eyes.
He closed his eyes, thinking. No matter how long it takes her to accept this life and accept the death of her human husband, her life was not comparable to the life of so many human women and what awaits them as the war is just starting. Even if he brought her more pain, he is still doing her a favor. What he gives her is no way comparable to how he hurts her in return.
Although he knew that he had hurt her, he didn't feel like he had done her any harm, considering what other women had to go through now and the dark near future that awaits them. He, however, accepts that she needs time for now.
He didn't dwell much on his current relationship with Chizuru. He had more things to take care of, especially with the war just beginning. As for now, he just had to take her to the Kazama clan to be kept and guarded there so she would not escape and even if they had to hold the wedding as soon as they arrive to the Kazama village the time he will have to spend with her will most likely be very short as he will have to the leave the village again. However, for now, he could feel some comfort beside her. At least he didn't hate her, and he found her appealing. Her faithfulness to her dead husband, despite knowing he was not going to be able to give her what he gives her as a clan leader, was a good thing, and he admired that. It meant she was not a shallow woman, and she was not materialistic.
