Moving on with the story I'll merge the events of Destiny Islands into one chapter that way we can get to Traverse Town and get to my OC. I won't say anything about my character because I don't want to spoil anything, but I'll work him as best I can into the story. And I think I'm gonna skip over doing fights with Tidus, Selphie and Wakka. So, let's move on.
Sora began to wake up once more, this time to the blue skies and to the sound of the waves. He fully regained consciousness and sat up to find himself laying on the beaches of Destiny Islands once more.
The 14-year-old boy let out a big yawn and laid back down, until Kairi loomed over him.
"Whoa!" Sora shot back up, making Kairi giggle.
"Give me a break, Kairi," Sora said.
"Sora, you lazy bum. I knew that I'd find you snoozing down here."
"No, this huge black thing swallowed me up!" Sora explained. "I couldn't breathe, I couldn't..." He felt a jolt of pain in his head before he could finish.
"Are you still dreaming?" Kairi asked.
"It wasn't a dream. Or was it? I don't know." Sora puzzled. "What was that place. So bizarre."
"Yeah, sure," Kairi said walking closer to the water.
"Say, Kairi, what was your hometown like? You know where you grew up." asked Sora.
"I told you before, I don't remember," Kairi replied looking to the horizon.
"Nothing at all?" Sora asked once more.
"Nothing."
"You ever want to go back?"
"Mm, well I'm happy here."
"Really?"
"But you know, I wouldn't mind going to see it."
"I'd like to see it, too. Along with any other worlds out there. I wanna see them all!"
Kairi looked back to Sora. "So, what are we waiting for?"
"Hey!" a third voice came from behind. "Aren't you guys forgetting about me?'
The two turned around to see Riku holding a wooden log.
"So. I guess I'm the only one working on the raft," Riku said approaching Kairi and tossing the log to Sora who collapsed as he barely caught it. "And you're just as lazy as he is."
Kairi giggled. "So, you noticed. Okay, we'll finish it together! I'll race you!"
"Huh?" Sora puzzled.
"What? Are you kidding?" Riku asked.
"Ready? Go!" Kairi yelled.
Sora and Riku quickly jumped to their feet and ran for the raft, with Kairi in the rear, laughing with joy.
A short time later Sora met with Kairi near the seaside shack.
"So, can you gather the rest of the supplies? Sora, are you listening to me?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah, I heard you," Sora replied.
"Okay. Here's what we need: Two logs, one cloth, one rope. Bring everything back here. If you need help just ask."
Sora begun to scavenge for the needed supplies, finding the first log on the shore. He went over to the higher levels, where Tidus was practicing his swings with a red rod and found the rope.
"Hey, Sora! You feel lucky today?" Tidus asked.
Sora moved on and then found the cloth hanging on a wall across from where he found the rope, and then he went to the smaller bit of land where Riku sat and found the second log. Once he found everything, he returned to Kairi with the raft materials.
"Thanks, Sora! I found something today, too. Here, it's yours," Kairi said and gave him an item called a Hi Potion. "Tired? Wanna call it a day?"
"Yeah, let's go home," Sora replied.
"Okay. It's getting late. We'll finish up tomorrow."
A little while later, Sora, Riku and Kairi all sat in the tree watching the sun set over the horizon.
"So, Kairi's home is out there somewhere, right?" Sora asked.
"Could be. We'll never know by staying here," Riku responded.
"But how far could a raft take us?" Sora wondered.
"Who knows? If we have to, we'll think of something else," Riku said once more.
"So, suppose you get to another world. What would you do there?" Kairi asked.
Riku pondered her question. "Well, I haven't really thought about it. It's just I've always wondered why we're here on this island. If there are any other worlds out there, why did we end up on this one? And suppose there are other worlds. Then ours is just a little piece of something much greater. So, we could have just as easily ended up somewhere else, right?"
"I don't know," Sora said laying back in the tree.
"Exactly," Riku stepped forward. "Just sitting here won't change a thing. It's the same old stuff. So, let's go."
"You've been thinking a lot lately, haven't you?" Kairi said to Riku.
"Thanks to you," Riku turned to face her. "If you hadn't come here, I probably would've never thought of any of this. Kairi, thanks."
"You're welcome," Kairi blushed.
The trio then started to leave.
"Sora!" Riku called to his friend and tossed him a yellow star shaped fruit called the paopu fruit. "You wanted one, didn't you?"
"A paopu fruit?" Sora said confused.
"If two people share one, their destinies become intertwined. They'll remain a part of each other's lives. No matter what," Riku said walking past Sora. "Come on. I know you want to try it."
"What are you talking..." Sora said as Riku ran off with a chuckle.
Sora tossed the fruit away and chased after Riku as they all headed to their boats and return to the mainland.
In a different world, there was a giant white castle with blue towers, known as Disney Castle.
The castle's royal court magician, Donald Duck walked through the halls, passed several walking brooms, carrying buckets of water.
He stopped at a giant light purple door and cleared his throat and knocked a few times, before entering through a smaller door. Inside there was a long red carpet that led all the way up to the throne, which was in between two tall statues.
"Good morning, your Majesty! It's nice to see you this morn-" Donald looked to the throne to find nobody there. "What?!"
From behind the throne stepped out King Mickey's loyal dog, Pluto, holding a letter with the King's seal in his mouth.
Pluto gave Donald the letter who looked over it and quickly ran out of the throne room, squawking frantically and hysterically.
He went out to the courtyard, where the captain of the King's knights Goofy was sound asleep.
"Wake up, Goofy! Wake up!" Donald exclaimed. "This is serious!"
But Goofy still remained asleep snoring heavily.
Donald then raised a hand into the air, conjuring a bolt of lightning, which struck Goofy and woke him instantly.
Goofy recovered from his drowsy state. "Hey there, Donald. Good morning."
"We've got a problem, Goofy! But don't tell anyone."
"Queen Minnie?" Goofy said puzzled.
"Not even the queen," Donald said.
"Daisy?"
"NO! It's top secret!" Donald exclaimed.
"Good morning, ladies," Goofy said looking behind Donald.
"What?" Donald turned around to see both the queen and Daisy, who had apparently heard the whole thing. Donald chuckled nervously, knowing he had some explaining to do.
The following day on the Destiny Islands, Sora rowed out to the islands to help with the finishing touches on the raft. He made his way over to the cove where Riku stood.
"Hey, Sora our raft still needs a name. Let's see, how about Highwind? What would you call it?"
"Me? Well, hmmm. Excalibur!"
"Hey, how about..."
"The usual."
"Let's do it!" Riku agreed.
Kairi made her way along the wooden platforms to see the two boys bickering. "You guys at it again? All right, I'll be the judge. The usual rules apply: Take any route you want." She then gestured over towards a small tree with a large star at the top. "First one to tag that tree and make it back here wins."
"If I win, uh I'm captain," Sora said. "And if you win..."
"I get to share the paopu with Kairi," Riku finished.
"Huh?" Sora said confused.
"Deal? The winner gets to share a paopu with Kairi."
"Wait a minute," Sora said all of a sudden confused.
"Okay. On my count!" Kairi announced as Sora and Riku readied themselves. "3,2,1. Go!"
The two boys ran for it with Riku jumping from the platforms to get to the hang glider, while Sora was able to do a faster route by moving from the beach to the hill leading up to the tree. As soon as he tagged said tree, he jumped from the tops of the palm trees and back to the platforms, making it back to Kairi first.
"Yes! Now the score's 1 to 0," Sora cheered in victory.
"Hey, man lighten up. It's only a name after all," Riku said to which he earned a glare from Sora.
Sora then made his way to the raft, where Kairi stood waiting for him.
"Today we collect provisions for our trip," Kairi said. "Let's see, Sora, you're looking for one seagull egg, three mushrooms, two coconuts, three fish. And fill this up with drinking water," she said and gave him an empty bottle. "But not from the ocean! Bring everything back here. If you need any help, just ask."
Sora began his scavenge for the provisions. He'd found the first mushroom over by the raft, hidden behind a large rock in a hole in the wall. The second mushroom he found over at the bottom of the hang glider. Underneath the wooden platforms there was a small waterfall to fill the bottle with. He continued onto the beaches to find the rest of the items. He found three fish swimming close to the shore and collected them. On top of a palm tree in front of the seaside shack resided a seagull egg, and by striking several of the palm trees he found the needed coconuts.
Sora went over to a hole and entered a cavern called the secret place behind a blanket of leaves near the island waterfall. Inside there were rocky walls that they would draw on, and there was also a strange door with no handles, or any way to open it as it seemed. But by that door, Sora found the third mushroom.
After collecting it, Sora looked to all the drawings he and his friends had made on the walls and looked to two in particular: Drawings of him and Kairi. He thought back to about 10 years ago, when he and Kairi were both very little, they were in the secret place and had drawn each other on the walls.
Sora sat on the ground and picked up a rock to add something new to the drawing. Which was him and Kairi sharing a paopu fruit.
He stopped as he heard something from behind. "Who's there?"
Standing around the corner was a person dressed in a brown cloak.
"I've come to see the door to this world."
"Huh?" Sora said confused.
"This world has been connected," the man explained.
"What are you talking about?"
"Tied to the darkness. Soon to be completely eclipsed."
"Well, whoever you are, stop freaking me out like this. Huh? Where did you come from?"
"You do not yet know what lies beyond the door."
"So, you're from another world!" Sora realized.
"There is so very much to learn. You understand so little."
"Oh, yeah? Well, you'll see. I'm gonna get out and learn what's out there!" Sora declared.
"A meaningless effort. One who knows nothing can understand nothing."
Sora looked away from the strange man and to the door, but when he looked back over the man was gone. Afterwards he left the secret place and went back to meet Kairi on the raft to hand over the provisions. When he saw her stringing something together, he couldn't help but ask.
"This? I'm making a necklace out of thalassa shells. In the old days sailors always wore thalassa shells. They were supposed to ensure a safe voyage." Then Kairi held out a pink and yellow flower shaped charm with a face on it. "See this? It's a charm to help us find each other if we ever get separated. The three of us will always be together."
Sora gave her the provisions. "Thanks, Sora! I found something today, too. Here, it's yours." Kairi said once again giving him a Hi Potion. "Tired? Want to call it a day?"
"Yeah, let's go home."
"Okay, tomorrow's the big day. We should rest up!"
Later on, Sora and Kairi sat on the docks watching the sunset once more.
"You know, Riku has changed," Kairi spoke up.
"What do you mean?" Sora asked.
"Well..." Kairi began.
"You okay?" Sora asked once more.
"Sora, let's take the raft and go. Just the two of us!" Kairi exclaimed.
"Huh?" Sora said confused.
Kairi giggled at his reaction. "Just kidding."
"What's gotten into you?" Sora asked with a chuckle. "You're the one that's changed, Kairi."
"Maybe. You know I was a little afraid at first, but now I'm ready," Kairi said with some excitement in her voice. "No matter where I go or what I see, I know I can always come back here. Right?"
"Yeah, of course!"
"That's good. Sora, don't ever change." Kairi said getting to her feet. "I just can't wait. Once we set sail, it'll be great."
Back at Disney Castle, in the library everyone had reviewed the king's letter.
Donald. Sorry to rush off without sayin' goodbye but there's big trouble bewin'. Not sure why, but the stars have been blinkin' out, one by one. And that means disaster can't be far behind. I hate to leave you all but I've gotta go check into it. There's someone with a 'key' the key to our survival. So, I need you and Goofy to find him and stick with him. Got it? We need that key, or we're doomed! So, go to Traverse Town and find Leon. He'll point you in the right direction.
PS: Would ya apologize to Minnie for me? Thanks, pal.
"Oh, dear! What could this mean?" Daisy asked worriedly.
"It means we'll just have to trust the king," Queen Minnie responded.
"Gawrsh, I sure hope he's all right," Goofy said in a concerned tone.
"Your Highness don't worry. We'll find the king and this 'key,'" Donald said.
Minnie turned to them with a smile of hopefulness. "Thank you. Both of you." She said gratefully.
"Daisy, can you take care of-"
"Of course. You be careful now. Both of you."
"Oh, and to chronicle your travels, he will accompany you," Minnie said gesturing to the desk.
Donald and Goofy saw no one, until they took a closer look.
"Over here!" said a small and very nicely dressed cricket. "Cricket's the name. Jiminy Cricket, at your service."
"We hope for your safe return. Please help the king," Minnie said once more as she and Daisy, along with Goofy who saluted saw him off.
"You're coming, too!" Donald dragged Goofy along.
The royal court magician, the king's captain and the cricket began to make their way down a long and winding staircase.
"Gawrsh, Jiminy, your world disappeared, too?" Goofy asked.
"It was terrible. We were scattered," said Jiminy who sat on top of his helmet. "And as far as I can see, I'm the only one who made it to this castle."
"Goofy?" Donald spoke up.
"Oh, right. I gotcha. You mean while we're in other worlds, we can't let on where we're from. We gotta protect the world border."
"Order!" Donald corrected.
"Right. World order," Goofy said with a chuckle, earning an irritated sigh from Donald. "I guess we'll need new duds when we get there."
Down in the hangar, a red and yellow rocket called the Gummi Ship resided, which was Donald and Goofy's vessel to travel to other worlds.
"Hello up there?" Donald said into the speakerphone. "Donald Duck to launch crew! Anytime you're ready."
In the control area, the launch crew were the gopher twins, Chip and Dale. Chip saluted while Dale pulled a lever, which activated two mechanical hands that picked up Donald and Goofy, putting them into the ship. Pluto ran over and then jumped onto the platform where the ship resided.
Queen Minnie and Daisy had come into the hangar to see them off. Daisy looked up to Donald in the cockpit, and Donald looked back down to her with a thumbs up.
The hangar door opened, and the ship's engines powered up readying for takeoff.
"Blast off!" Donald exclaimed and readied to blast out of the hangar, only for a downwards arrow to appear and instead send the ship falling into the floor.
Outside of the world, the ship dropped from the bottom and then took off through interspace to Traverse Town.
Back in his world, at his house Sora lay in bed, looking up to a boat hanging from the ceiling with two dolls inside of it.
"I just can't wait," Kairi's voice echoed in his mind. "Once we set sail. It'll be great."
Sora looked to his left out to the islands and saw a storm starting to occur. "A storm? Oh, no! The raft!" Sora shot up.
A short while later Sora's mom called up to him. "Sora, dinner's ready. Come on down. Sora?" She called but was oblivious to the fact that Sora had snuck out.
Sora rowed out to the islands to make sure the raft was still in one piece, but as soon as he docked, he looked up to the sky to see a large purple portal of sorts.
"What's that?" He asked himself and looked to see two more boats at the dock. "Riku's boat. And Kairi's!"
And then Sora looked straight ahead to see the same shadow creatures from his dream appear in front of him. His expression became completely and utterly shocked as he tried to fight them with his wooden toy sword, but it proved to be completely ineffective. With no other choice, Sora ran to the island where the paopu fruit tree resided and saw Riku just standing there.
"Where's Kairi? I thought she was with you!" Sora said frantically.
"The door has opened," Riku said.
"What?"
"The door has opened, Sora!" Riku turned to his friend. "Now we can go to the outside world!"
"What are you talking about? We've gotta find Kairi!"
"Kairi's coming with us!"
Sora looked at Riku confused.
"Once we step through, we might not be able to come back. We may never see our parents again. There's no turning back," Riku looked up to the dark portal in the sky. "But this may be our only chance. We can't let fear stop us. I'm not afraid of the darkness!"
Riku stepped forward and held his right hand out to Sora.
"Riku..." Sora said completely confused.
And then a dark portal opened underneath Riku, with shadows starting to pull him in. Sora quickly ran to Riku and tried to take his hand, but this proved to be difficult with the shadows starting to consume them both. In seconds, everything became pitch dark. But then a bright light cut through the darkness and Sora found himself back on the island, wielding some sort of large key shaped weapon.
Keyblade... Keyblade.
Soon afterwards, the shadow creatures began to return, and with his new weapon Sora fought them off and made his way to the secret place, which now had a door like the one in the station of awakening in front of it. He made his way through the door and into the secret place, where he found Kairi standing in front of the door.
"Kairi!" Sora called out.
Kairi turned to face him, looking like she was about to collapse. "Sora." She said weakly and held out her hand. The door then flew open with a burst of strong winds. Said winds blew Kairi forward towards Sora. Sora attempted to catch her, but as he was about to do so, Kairi had vanished into thin air and the winds from the door blew him out of the secret place.
Sora was blown onto the beaches, but as he recovered, he saw that the islands were now a ruin, and he was standing on a remnant of what was left, as everything began to get sucked up into the dark portal. And then from behind Sora, he saw the same giant monster from the dream: Darkside. And he readied to fight this creature once more.
After beating it back again, the gusts from the portal got even stronger and pulled Darkside into the portal.
Sora hung onto a board of wood for dear life, but the strong gusts eventually caused him to lose his grip and get sucked into the portal as well.
And that ends this chapter. As I've said before next chapter will finally bring in my OC and begins the journey with him in it. I'll do the chapters with each separate world, figuring this out as I go. Anyhow I hope you liked this chapter. I'll have the next one up as soon as possible. Until then, please read, review and enjoy.
