RAW is WAR: 1/6/1998
RAW is WAR was live at Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, Illinois. After the elimination match between The New Age Outlaws & Triple H against D'Lo Brown, The Rock & Owen Hart, followed by Vince McMahon found talking to Paul Bearer and Kane in the locker room, the next match was the second King of the Ring qualifying match with Jeff Jarrett against an unknown opponent.
In the ring, Tennessee Lee has cleaned up the Godwinns and turned them into "Southern Justice". They look like some villains on Walker Texas Ranger. Jarret's theme dies down as Lee and Southern Justice stand at ringside.
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
"Oh no!" Jerry flinched at the sound of the wolf howl.
"Oh, here we go!" JR said with enthusiasm.
The Devil's Wolf played to a loud cheer from the fans as the lights switched to the sinister blood red and dark blue before the Bladewolf walked out with the WWF Intercontinental Championship around his waist. Bladewolf stood at the entrance and adjusted his right elbow pad before he made his way towards the ring, where Jarret had a pale expression on his face upon seeing who he was facing.
"And his opponent, from Death Valley, weighing 310 lbs, he is the World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion... THE BLADEWOLF!" Tony Chimel announced.
"The Bladewolf, fresh off from retaining his title last night against the Rock." JR said. "And now, he's in the King of the Ring tournament."
Bladewolf makes it to the ring, climbing onto the apron and stepping over the top rope. He stares down Jarrett with his dark eyes as the lights shroud the eyeholes of his mask in total darkness. His theme dies down as the lights return to normal, and Bladewolf goes to hand his Intercontinental Championship to someone when Jarrett grabs a microphone.
"Hold on, now." He said, gaining everyone's attention. "I ain't gonna face against that Demon from hell. But seeing that gold around your waist gave me an idea. I'll face you right now, if you put your Intercontinntal title on the line. Not only will I beat this Demon Dog and make my way further to being king of the world, but I'll be the king with gold as I become a 3-time Intercontinental Champion. What do you say?"
"Is he serious?" JR asked with disbelief.
"Smart!" Jerry nodded. "This way, he can not only win to go on to become King of the Ring, he'll be Intercontinental Champion when he does!"
JR shook his head. "The Bladewolf already defended his title last night and..." He trails off as the Bladewolf nods his head. "He's accepting the terms! He's putting his title on the line."
Bladewolf hands his title to the referee without taking his eyes off the smug Jarrett. The referee holds the title up, showing it's on the line, then hands it to someone at ringside before calling for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
"So here we go." JR said.
Jarrett wastes no time and runs, leaping at the Bladewolf... ONLY TO GET CAUGHT ON HIS SHOULDERS!
"Jarrett's caught! He's caught!" JR exclaimed.
"No!" Jerry shouted.
Bladewolf... HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF! He gets to a knee and placed a hand on Jarrett's chest for the cover.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three! Ring the bell!" The referee shouted.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
"That's it?" Jerry's eyes widened.
"it's over in just a few seconds." JR shook his head in disbelief as Bladewolf's theme plays and he grabs his title. "That was quite possibly the shortest title match in WWF history."
"I'm still trying to grasp this... what?" Jerry shook his head.
JR shrugs. "Well, this means the Bladewolf advances in the King of the Ring tournament."
Bladewolf leaves the ring as the lights dim to the sinister blood red and dark blue, and he makes his way to the back with the Intercontinental Championship draped over his right shoulder.
And that's it for this chapter, people. Was a bit short, I know but... hey, we need one of those short matches every now and then.
