Blossom Becomes a Feminist
It was dinner time at the Powerpuff Girls' house. The three sisters sat at the table, waiting for Professor Utonium to serve his famous Whopass Stew.
"Fighting that monster sure was fun," said Bubbles.
"It was fun, but way too easy. We didn't even break a sweat," added Buttercup.
"Exactly! I'm so glad we can do this—all thanks to feminism!" said Blossom proudly.
Buttercup was silent for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. "What does feminism have to do with us? We didn't become superheroes because some 'constantly triggered bunch' made banners."
"How can you say that? Don't you realize what they've done for us?" asked Blossom.
"Like what?" said Buttercup, raising an eyebrow.
"Everything! Don't you know your history?"
"Sure. Decades ago, they fought for good causes, but they weren't the only reason things changed. And lately, they haven't exactly done anything noteworthy. That movement doesn't mean much to me now," replied Buttercup.
"So you don't even realize that you're oppressed?" Blossom asked, her tone incredulous.
"How am I oppressed? Name a single law that disadvantages me."
"Don't use those meninist tactics on me!" shouted Blossom.
"Whatever. Where's dinner? I'm starving," Buttercup groaned, rolling her eyes.
"I can't believe you're so ignorant of our ongoing sisterhood struggle. You need to be educated!" said an obviously annoyed Blossom.
"Oh, come on! We've got better things to do than listen to a bunch of preachy, self-proclaimed victims who spend all day looking for things that offend them," replied Buttercup.
"And besides," added Bubbles, "we have to save the city all the time and keep up with kindergarten. We barely have any free time as it is—we don't need an ideology taking up the little fun we have!"
Blossom frowned, her face turning red as she began tapping furiously on her smartphone.
The professor, overhearing the conversation, came into the room to calm things down. "Now, Blossom, it's great that you care about important issues. But you also need to respect your sisters' opinions, and remember that 'no' means 'no.'"
"Professor, I know you mean well, but I don't appreciate being mansplained on this topic. And just so you know, I've signed us all up for a summer school feminism course."
"You did what?" shouted Bubbles and Buttercup in unison.
"I signed us up for the course. We'll get proper education during the summer!"
Buttercup slammed her hand on the table. "No way. Professor, she can't do this to us!"
"Blossom, I disapprove of you forcing your views on your sisters. I didn't raise you like this," said the professor firmly.
"Really? Then I guess you wouldn't mind if I shared how you're keeping your superhero daughters from attending a feminism course. I'm sure that won't have any negative impact on your career or everyday life," Blossom said smugly.
The professor's eyes widened. "Are you seriously trying to blackmail your own father?"
"You leave me no other choice. And besides, we could use some female influence while we grow up. Maybe you should have thought of that before you accidentally added Chemical X to our creation."
"Forget it! You can't force me!" yelled Buttercup.
Blossom smiled smugly. "Oh, yes, I can. The course contract says you either attend for the first two weeks or cover the organizers' living costs for a year."
"WHAT?!" screamed Buttercup.
"If you don't believe me, read the fine print at the bottom," said Blossom, handing her phone to her sisters.
Bubbles and Buttercup read the text. Their faces changed, shifting from confusion to frowns, and then to a deep red as the realization set in.
"You're evil!" yelled Buttercup, while Bubbles silently looked on, clearly upset.
"Evil? I'm just doing the right thing," Blossom replied firmly.
"We'll get back at you!" proclaimed Buttercup.
"Oh, really? What are you going to do?" Blossom replied with a grin.
Beyond pissed, Buttercup grabbed Blossom's phone and smashed it against the ground, reducing it to pieces.
Blossom gasped. "What did you do to my phone?! Professor, she can't do that!"
The professor's face was stern. "Buttercup, I'm glad you restrained yourself, given everything that's happened. Please keep it together for these two weeks—we'll get through this somehow. Bubbles, same goes for you. As for you, Blossom… the tactics you're using would make even HIM jealous. I don't know what's gotten into you, but this isn't how you treat family just because they disagree with you."
Blossom, temporarily forgetting about her phone, smiled. Meanwhile, her sisters glared at her. They knew the upcoming two weeks were going to feel very long.
