Last Battle with the First Friend

Location: Lanakila Summit

I stood outside the Pokémon Center. The snow was thankfully somewhat light today, so as long as I wrapped up, I would be fine.

"So," I thought. "Whose waiting for me?"

At that moment, the elevator started whirring up.

"Thizz muzzt be them. Roto."

The figure revealed himself. It was…

"HAU!" I said.

"Hey buddy!" Hau replied. We gave each other a bro hug. "Professor Kukui told me you would be here, so I decided to take a break from my training and come up here." He looked at the Pokémon League. "The Professor's childhood dream, finally becoming a reality." He then looked towards me again. "Anyway, I came up here for a particular reason; a battle!"

"Sounds great!" I replied. "My last battle before the League!"

Elliott Vs. Hau

"Go Raichu!" Hau shouted. Out came his Electric Type.

"And I'll use Lunala!" I shouted back. I had the advantage here. It was also hailing, so we needed to take that into account.

"Thunderbolt!" Raichu shot lightning at Lunala. It was a direct hit that also paralyzed Lunala.

"Moongeist Beam!" Lunala shot a powerful beam at Raichu that knocked it out in one shot.

"Okay then. Go Noivern!" The next Pokémon was black and purple with large wings.

Although it has a violent disposition, if you give it a nice ripe fruit that it loves, Noivern will suddenly become tame.

I recalled Lunala and sent out Slowbro. "Bring it on!" I shouted.

"Noivern, Dark Pulse!" Noivern shot black energy at Slowbro, doing Super Effective damage.

"Come back with Ice Punch!" Slowbro punched Noivern with its cold fist. This did quite a bit to Noivern. I knew Noivern would be going down next turn because of the Hail.

"Now use Dragon Pulse!" Noivern then shot some Dragon energy at Slowbro. This was a Critical Hit that knocked it out, though Noivern did succumb to the Hail.

"Two down! Mismagius, I choose you!" I shouted.

"And I'm using Vaporeon!" Hau replied.

"Shock Wave!" Mismagius fired electricity at Vaporeon.

"Come back with Shadow Ball!" Vaporeon fired a dark ball at Mismagius for lots of damage.

"Mismagius, Confuse Ray!" Mismagius fired a weird ray at Vaporeon, confusing it. It hurt itself that turn. "Shock Wave again!" Another bolt of electricity was getting Vaporeon closer to fainting.

"Shadow Ball!" This time Vaporeon actually managed to get in a move that defeated Mismagus.

"Thanks," I told Mismagius. "Snorlax, I choose you!" I had to rely on Snorlax's high HP to beat it.

"Vaporeon, Hydro Pump!" Vaporeon blasted water at Snorlax.

"Come back with Giga Impact!" Snorlax charged into Vaporeon with all its might, knocking out the Eeveelution.

"My next Pokémon is Crabominable!" Hau shouted. An Ice and Fighting Type? Not the right one for Snorlax.

"Hariyama, you're next!" I shouted. "Use Fake Out!" Hariyama made Crabominable flinch. "And now use Close Combat!" Hariyama then punched Crabominable multiple times, almost finishing it.

"Use Ice Hammer!" Crabominable brought its frosty claw down onto Hariyama. The Defense drop meant that it did quite a bit.

"Reversal!" Hariyama then punched Crabominable, defeating it.

"Yeah! Now this is what I call a battle! Go Tauros!" A Normal Type against a Fighting Type? What did I have to fear? Well, actually quite a lot. "Zen Headbutt!" Tauros' head started to glow, and it hit Hariyama with its head. This also caused Hariyama to flinch. It almost went down, but the Hail finished Hariyama off.

"No!" I shouted. "Okay Lunala, you're next!" However, I remembered that Lunala was still paralyzed.

"Use Earthquake!" Tauros made the ground shake though Lunala stood its ground.

"Use Night Daze!" Lunala let out a burst of blackness which Tauros got caught in, almost defeating it.

"Now use Iron Head!" Tauros' head turned to steel, and it charged towards Lunala, but it missed.

"Night Daze!" One more finished off Tauros.

"Well, in that case, you know what it's time for. Decidueye!" There it was, Hau's partner. "And now, let's do this!" Hau put his arms out. "It's time to get spooky! SINISTER ARROW RAID!" Decidueye flew up and summoned a lot of its feather-arrow things. They surrounded Decidueye, then it flew down and fired all of them at Lunala, knocking it out. "Wow! We actually defeated a Legendary!"

I recalled Lunala. "Well, now let's use my partner! Incineroar!" There it was, the Pokémon to knock out Decidueye. We surrounded ourselves in Z-Energy. "You're not the only one who can use exclusive Z-moves! Get a load of this! MALICIOUS MOONSAULT!" A wrestling ring appeared around Decidueye. Incineroar jumped onto Decidueye, causing an explosion. It took down Decidueye at once.

"Wow! You have got stronger!"

Hau smiled. "I tell you what, battle like that, and the honour of first Champion is as good as yours!"

I looked back at the League. "Thanks Hau."

At that point, we heard the Elevator whir from the elevator. Professor Kukui arrived. "Oh, so I missed the match."

"Sorry," I said. "We got a bit… excited."

Professor Kukui laughed. "You know, ever since my journey to Kanto, I always wanted Alola to follow suit. Keep the Trials intact but make it part of League customs. We have an Elite Four, but now we need a Champion. And all that falls on you Elliott. I can't think of anyone more deserving of it. You completed the Trials AND saved Alola!"

"I second that!" Hau said.

"I third that! Roto! Doezz that work?"

"Tomorrow my friend, you will be in for the matches of a lifetime. Get some rest and go in with a clear mind."

"Don't you mean a Calm Mind? Roto?"

"That works!" the Professor said.

"Hey," Hau said, holding out his hand. "If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be as strong as I am now."

I shook his hand. "I'll make you and Hala proud."

"You better," he said.

Tomorrow, my destiny begins.

Rotom's Move Dex!

Well, okay you know what? Roto? Inzztead of Typezz, I'll juzzt say the following move because I brought it up.

Calm Mind.

It'zz a move that… raizzezz Sp. Attack and Sp. Defenzze? Sorry, I'm nervouzz. Zzt zzt.

Pokémon like Alakazam, Lucario and Oranguru can learn it.
