Marie rides through the city, heading to the location on the map that showed her where Hellboy was. As Marie got closer, she looked around for any sign of the half-demon man. She was beginning to question whether the job, specifically Hellboy, was worth it or not.

But Marie had to find Hellboy, or she would get a lecture from Manning, the new pain in her ass. She also didn't want to let Broom down. He never gave up on her and gave her a job.

In the corner of her eye, Marie spots the silhouette of someone big, red, and has a tail standing atop a roof. And it wasn't Clifford.

Marie parked her motorcycle by the curb before speaking into her earpiece, "I found him."

She gets off her motorcycle and goes into an alleyway. She spots a fire escape and approaches it before jumping and grabbing the ladder. Marie climbs up the ladder before walking up on the platforms and stairs.

When Marie reaches the rooftop, she sees Hellboy standing near the edge and looking at the people below. She then notices he is holding a six-pack of beer with a few cans gone and one beer in his hand. The doctor in Marie was shaking her head.

"You know you shouldn't be drinking beer after being injured," Marie spoke, making her presence known to Hellboy. The half-demon man turns to her. "The alcohol thins the blood, making you bleed more, and it inhibits the body's healing process."

"Thanks for the medical advice, Mary Poppins," Hellboy said before turning his back to her and taking a sip from his beer.

"No problem, Clifford."

"What are you doing here?"

"My job," Marie replied. She approaches Hellboy and stands beside him. "I told the others I found you. They should be here soon. So, why don't we use this time and talk."

Hellboy doesn't respond. He silently stood there and took another sip of beer. Marie knew that if she was sticking with the job, she had to get Hellboy to trust her. She then decided to tell the half-demon man something that would make him see that they were not so different.

"When I was a teenager, I used to sneak out of the house most nights and do whatever I wanted with my friends. My daddy would catch me as I was leaving or coming home, but he would always go out, find me, and bring me home. And then he would lecutre me," Marie shared. "Broom worries about you just like how my daddy worries about me. My daddy calls me every day. Sometimes, we have breakfast, lunch, or dinner together. Even though I'm a grown woman, he will always see me as the little girl who would chase her shadow. The little girl he promised to protect. Just like how Broom will always see you as the baby he found all those years ago. It's a parent's job to worry about their children, even when they're grown."

Hellboy stands there as Marie's words snuck in. He could tell she understood his relationship with his father despite a few differences. The half-demon man could hear the sincerity in her voice. He also noticed the sadness when Marie mentioned her father. Hellboy wondered if something happened to him.

Hellboy glances down and sees a black sedan and SUV pull up to the curb. The half-demon man recognized the car and knew it belonged to the B.P.R.D.

"Looks like my ride is here."

Marie and Hellboy watch as Broom and Clay exit the sedan while Moss and Quarry exit the SUV. The four men wait by the cars for Hellboy and Marie.

"Come on, let's go," Marie said.

Marie and Hellboy walk over to the fire escape, going down the platforms and stairs. While Marie used the ladder to get down, Hellboy jumped off the final platform. Suddenly, Hellboy winces in pain and falls to his knees. Marie takes hold of his arm and kneels on the ground with him.

"You ok, Red?" Marie worriedly asked, the doctor in her making its way to the surface.

Marie motions for Clay, Moss, and Quarry to run over. She begins looking over Hellboy for injuries when the agents take him from her and help the half-demon up.

"C'mon, champ. You look a little woozy, there," Clay said.

"This- This is nothing," Hellboy weakly responded.

"Okay, Red, let's get you home. Come on."

Marie remains in the alley as she watches Hellboy being escorted to the SUV by the three agents. Seeing Hellboy as he is brings old memories to the surface in Marie's mind. Painful memories of someone she loved.

Moss and Quarry enter the SUV with Hellboy, while Clay enters the sedan with Professor Broom. Marie gets onto her Motorcycle and follows behind the two cars back to B.P.R.D. Headquarters in New Jersey.

After arriving at Headquarters, Hellboy was taken to the B.P.R.D. infirmary. Broom stands next to Hellboy, who lies on a stainless steel exam chair. Abe removed the stinger from the paper bag with forceps before placing it in a stainless steel bowl.

Marie puts her medical degree to use as she peers through a magnifier at Hellboy's wounded arm.

"You were burned by some organic acid," Marie noted.

"Mmm. I'm lucky that way," Hellboy sarcastically said. He grunts in pain when Marie uses a scalpel to probe the gash on his arm.

"I worry about you," Broom voiced, walking around the chair to stand on his son's left side.

"Me?" Hellboy's mind flashes back to his conversation on the rooftop with Marie.

"Well... I won't be around forever, you know," The Professor reminded him.

"Damn!" Hellboy exclaimed in pain before telling Marie, "Could you please be a little careful?"

"Well, I usually like to inflict some pain on my patients, but I'll make an exception in your case," Marie responded before muttering, "Big baby."

"How long was it latched onto you?" Abe asked.

"I dunno. About five seconds," Hellboy responded.

After poking at the depths of the wound, Marie discovered something.

"Professor, Abe," Marie called. The two men move to Marie's side of the table.

"Is it bad?" Hellboy nervously asked, turning his head away, scared to look.

Inside the wound on Hellboy's forearm are three translucent eggs. Marie removes them one by one. She puts the first one in a glass container and the others in a stainless steel bowl.

"It touched you five seconds and laid three eggs," Marie said.

"Didn't even buy me a drink," Hellboy scoffed.

Marie hands the glass in the glass container to Abe. Marie bandages Hellboy's arm while Abe takes the egg to a nearby computer for analysis. After a few minutes, the computer beeps, having finished an analysis. On a monitor, an enlarged color image of one of the throbbing eggs.

"The stinger detaches itself from the tongue and injects the eggs. They are very sensitive to heat and light. They need a humid, dark environment to breed," Abe informed them.

"Did you ever lose track of him down there?" Marie asked Hellboy.

"Well, let's see. There was that moment when I had the train on top of my head," He said.

"We can't risk it," Broom worriedly said with a frown. He turns to his son and tells him, "Tomorrow, you'll go back to the tracks with a group of agents. Search the whole place top to bottom. Find those eggs and destroy them."
