We're back with more of "Through the Rough", folks! I'll be the first to say that the School Festival Arc's one of my favorites of the series. Even if the stakes aren't high, the emotions are really there. I hope you're all ready for some surprises with this arc from my end. I've got a lot in store.
Anyways, we'll exclusively keep things to U.A. for the time being with this chapter, so here goes!
THROUGH THE ROUGH
"You're out from making up for classes tonight?" Kyoka inquired of Rebecca as they were walking along the brick walkway outside of school.
"Yep!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user confirmed with a smile, "It's mostly thanks to Momo's help with Mister Ectoplasm's math stuff," she mentioned in admittance, "That said, the others aren't that far behind from catching up," she noted on.
"Indeed," Fumikage chimed in, walking over to be beside the pair, "Granbell has been improving greatly in his students thanks to Yaoyorozu's tutelage," he told them, "From what he told me, she was very determined to make sure he'd succeed," he recalled.
"I wonder why…" Rebecca remarked, sharing a giggle with Kyoka.
"Hey, Rebecca?" the Earphone Jack Quirk user addressed, getting her friend's attention, "Thanks," she gratefully said.
"Huh?" her ash blonde-haired classmate uttered, arching an eyebrow, "For what?" she asked curiously.
"For inspiring me to go through with this whole concert thing," Kyoka replied to her surprise, "I was kinda nervous about doing things at first, but then I remembered what you were saying yesterday about loving music," she told her, "If my music can reach the people that are feeling worried, then we can help everyone at UA," she affirmed confidently, "You know, create a new genesis," she added cheekily. She and Rebecca giggled again. From afar, Katsuki listened to the two of them gushing over their plans.
He wasn't exactly into the idea of a concert, much less one that would help bring the spirits up of everyone in school. Yet he'd have to come to terms with the fact that he'd be involved somehow, since the rest of his class was so eager. He loathed how enthusiastic both girls ahead of him were.
"Hey, did you hear?" a voice from afar inquired, getting his attention as he glanced over. There were a few students from general studies walking by. "Class One-A of the Hero Course is putting a concert together," the male of the two noted aloud.
"Oh great, talk about egotistical…" the girl beside him muttered out, "They think we're dying to see them do some kinda dumb performance?" she wondered aloud.
"Well, yeah," her classmate replied, "We all know they're clueless," he pointed out, "They get attacked by villains, and we all get to suffer their stupid consequences because of that," he mentioned in frustration. Katsuki's narrowed eyes turned into a glare as he trudged onward. If other courses felt the same way as general studies, then that meant everyone was going to be against the hero hopefuls, no matter what they tried. And he wasn't about to let himself or his classmates be badmouthed just because they were the ones attacked by villains.
OPENING
Insert "Fleeting Lullaby" by Ado
A spotlight shines upon a stage, where Kyoka, Rebecca, Momo and Homura are. Kyoka wields her bass, Rebecca's sitting at the drums, Momo readies her hands to play the keyboard, and Homura grips her electric guitar tightly. As Kyoka starts signing, more lights flash on, revealing the rest of Class 1-A as they're about to perform.
We cut to Shoto and Katsuki struggling with the provisional license course as Homura watches on alongside All Might and Endeavor. She glances toward the Flame Hero curiously, while a memory of Valkyrie crosses her mind. In the meantime, we get images of Madame Kurenai with her cronies, Garrot, Baku, and Nino; the latter of which appearing reluctant. There's also a shot of the current Shining Star Heroes, who're standing in front of the safe door found at the Hassaikai headquarters.
There's another scene of the League of Villains lurking in the shadows, with Dabi taking note of a particular news broadcast on a TV. Elsewhere, Shura finds himself being confronted by the Oceans 6. He sneers as he readies his Quirk, but is suddenly stopped when Nero appears behind him and slams his head into the ground. He goes through a flashback of his own where as a young boy, he was crying in the corner.
Next up, we see Izuku and Rebecca hopping around in pursuit of Gentle Criminal and La Brava as they bounce about on the way to U.A. Already there is Eri, who's with Mirio and the others who were a part of the raid mission. They and the rest of Class 1-A are about to perform as they head off to the stage inside Gym Gamma.
We go through several scenes of the class in separate groups, with Katsuki and Eijiro arguing over the special effects as the others sigh, Mina practicing the dancing with the class, especially Shiki as Ochaco watches on with a blank jealous stare, and Kyoka, Momo and Homura tuning their respective instruments. The Earphone Jack Quirk user worriedly looks at the clock, hoping that Izuku and Rebecca can make it in time.
As the opening winds down, we see shots of Deadend Crow, God Acnoella, Poseidon Nero, Saintfire Nox, Elsie Crimson, and finally, Tomura Shigaraki. We also get to see the lineup of the top ten pro heroes of Japan: Eraser, Kamui Woods, Crust, Holy, Mirko, Justice, Edgeshot, Hawks, and Endeavor. As the ceremony goes on, an ominous figure watches on curiously.
The song concludes with Izuku and Rebecca holding hands as they run ahead with smiles on their faces, heading for what they hope is a bright future.
END OPENING
"Alright, we have at least three weeks until the school festival!" Tenya pointed out back at the dorms as the sky was dusking outside, "We need to start planning right away," he advised of his classmates, who were gathered in the common space.
"Let's start by picking out a song!" Toru suggested.
"Isn't a concert more than just one song though?" Minoru chimed in as a question.
"And which ones would we even go with?" Denki inquired on.
"It'd have to be ones most people know, right?" Mina presumed.
"Definitely gotta have a good beat, too," Hanta mentioned.
"And we gotta be able to get down to it!" the Acid Quirk user added excitedly.
"In that case, I think we should go with a hardcore four on the floor club song," Kyoka advised as she finally entered the conversation, "It'll be like a rave meeting a rock show," she mentioned.
"It sounds quite daunting…" Homura admitted in concern.
"EDM is probably the most popular genre for things like this," the Earphone Jack Quirk user pointed out, "but you guys want us to play instruments, right?" she inquired of her classmates. Most of them gave of blank, confused looks. "Anyone know how to play drums, guitar… or anything?" she asked. Silence was her response. "Okay…" she uttered, now a bit anxious, "Normally, the backbone of any band is the drums," she told the group, "I play bass, so my experience with drums is pretty basic…" she confirmed on, "I can't really go teaching anyone percussion while trying to practice with another instrument in just three weeks," she pointed out, "It'd be impossible…" she mentioned grimly.
"Well, lucky for you…" Rebecca began, getting her attention, "I happen to know someone who plays drums," she pointed out, "And he does them pretty well…" she added, nudging Katsuki's left arm with her right elbow.
"…Huh?" he uttered in surprise.
"Whoa, really?!" Mina exclaimed.
"That's a shocker!" Denki remarked.
"How do you know he can do drums?" Toru inquired of the Cat Leaper Quirk user.
"He took music lessons as a kid," she answered with a cheeky grin.
"You little…!" Katsuki growled out, right before being hands a pair of drumsticks from Hanta.
"Go ahead and take a seat, man!" he insisted, "Show us what you got!" he pleaded on.
"Hard pass…" the Explosion Quirk user muttered.
"Guess it's too hard for you…" Hanta assumed, causing Katsuki to come to a halt. Moments later, he showed off his rather exceptional drumming skills.
"Well?" he muttered.
"That… was killer…!" Kyoka gasped out as her eyes sparkled.
"Told ya," Rebecca remarked proudly.
"Hmph," Katsuki scoffed, "If you're expecting me to drum for you idiots, think again," he grumbled out, "Besides, I'm not the only drummer here," he mentioned, pointing at the Cat Leaper Quirk user.
"Huh?" she uttered out.
"Wait… what?!" Kyoka exclaimed.
"You can drum too, Rebecca?!" Mina inquired in shock.
"We took the same music classes as kids," the Explosion Quirk user pointed out, stomping up to the ash blonde-haired girl, "So why the hell didn't you say anything about playing an instrument?" he asked of her. She blinked in surprise, followed by letting off a frown.
"I guess… it's because I'm probably one of the biggest causes of the other courses' stress…" she responded honestly, causing everyone around to give off worried looks to her, "You and me were kidnapped by the villains, so we're both not looked at nicely by everyone else…" she noted on, "If it wasn't for that, then maybe the dorms wouldn't have to be here…" she mentioned as an inference.
"Rebecca…" Kyoka uttered out.
"Who cares what some rejects think?" Katsuki inquired after a moment, making the Cat Leaper Quirk user blink in shock, "We're not the ones who asked to get attacked by villains," he pointed out, "Why should we have to be the ones to relieve their stress when they're all mad at us in the first place?" he questioned on.
"Kacchan…" Rebecca uttered out.
"I suppose… he does have a point…" Tenya admitted.
"But he didn't want to help us decide on this event!" Minoru argued.
"Yeah, why should we just ignore how all the other classes feel?!" Toru questioned angrily.
"He's got a point," the Cat Leaper Quirk user suddenly said, much to everyone's surprise, "Villains are the ones attacking us, so why are we getting blamed?" she asked rhetorically, "Aren't we just doing what we can to protect ourselves?" she inquired on, balling her hands into fists.
"Rebecca…" Mina and Toru uttered out.
"So you get it, huh?" Katsuki assumed, turning to the Cat Leaper Quirk user.
"Yeah," she replied with a nod. The Explosion Quirk user handed her the drumsticks.
"Then you better kill it up on those drums, Rebecca," he insisted of her, causing her to blink in surprise.
"Did… Bakugo just…?" Denki tried to ask, trembling in shock. Taking a firm grip on the drumsticks, the Cat Leaper Quirk user walked over to the drums, sitting down at the stool. She took a deep breath, ready to play as she raised her arms.
And when she played, a wave of awe washed over the entirety of those still in the common space, save for Katsuki. She played so fluently, spinning her drumsticks around and pressing her foot against the bass pedal. Kyoka was amazed. Not only at how good the Cat Leaper Quirk user, but also with the song she played. As a matter of fact…
'That's from… Ado's…' she started to realize, letting her eyes shake with disbelief. After hitting the cymbals, Rebecca finished her performance, letting out deep, slow breaths.
"Well, how was that?" she inquired.
"Absolutely amazing!" Rikido complimented with his fists clenched in excitement.
"Guess we got ourselves a drummer and a backup in case one of you wants it!" Mina remarked, glancing back over to Katsuki, who huffed.
"She can take the drums," he muttered out, "I'll do whatever else that doesn't make me look ridiculous," he grumbled on.
"What a party pooper…" Toru mumbled under her breath.
"At least we got the band's backbone!" Hanta noted with a wide grin.
"Yeah!" Mina agreed excitedly, "Isn't that great, Jiro?" she inquired of the Earphone Jack Quirk user.
"Uh, yeah, it is…" she stammered in response. The fact that Rebecca ended up being the band's drummer seemed almost too good to be true. But she was happy that it wound up being her. More than happy, in fact. "We're gonna do our best," she promised.
X
"During my classical education, I learned how to play the piano from when I was only little," Momo pointed out to her classmates later that evening, "I'd be happy to play in the band if you need me to," she affirmed.
"Yeah, Momo'll totally rock those keyboards!" Mina assured confidently.
"We are gonna need someone on synth for everyone to dance," Kyoka pointed out, "I think you're perfect for the part," she proclaimed.
"Then I'll do my best!" the Creation Quirk user declared with clenched fists.
"Aw, and I was hoping we could get all the girls together for a big ol' choreo number…" Mina whined a little.
"Sorry, Mina…" Rebecca apologized.
"Nah, it's all good!" the Acid Quirk user assured while smiling, "Besides, the three of you are gonna kill it together!" she exclaimed.
"You're still missing a piece or two, right?" Weisz inquired as he approached, "I'd be happy to help with—"
"Oh yeah, special effects!" Mina realized, interjecting the Machina Maker Quirk user as he blinked in surprise.
"Huh?" he uttered. Going over to a nearby laptop, the Acid Quirk user showed her classmates the types of things used during concerts to add a bit of flair to the venues. Whether it was streamers, sparks, lights, or disco balls, it all looked pretty enticing.
"You know, Steiner's actually perfect for special effects," Mashirao noted, causing Weisz to flinch, "He can use his Quirk to adjust and remodel settings to help change things up," he pointed out.
"H-Hey…" he stammered out, "What if—?"
"And if he can make those effects work super well with whatever other plans are in mind, then we'll have quite the show aside from the dancing and music!" Toru affirmed on, interjecting the Machina Maker Quirk user.
"So we're decided!" Mina confirmed, "Weisz Steiner'll lead our special effects team!" she announced, pointing at her blonde-haired classmate, who slouched with defeat.
"Okay, fine…" he mumbled out, "So… what about guitars and vocals?" he asked curiously, lifting his head up to look to Kyoka.
"Well…" she started to reply. Just then, the doors opened up.
"Hey guys!" Eijiro greeted, entering alongside Izuku, Ochaco, Tsuyu, and Shiki.
"Sorry we're showing up so late," the One For All inheritor apologized, only to wind up greeted with a kiss to his lips from his girlfriend as she skipped up to him.
"No worries, Izu," she assured with a giggle as he blushed, "We got a lot taken care of pretty quick!" she pointed out, "I'm gonna be the class drummer!" she announced excitedly.
"Whoa, really?!" Ochaco exclaimed in question.
"That's awesome!" Shiki complimented with his fists clenched.
"Thanks!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user replied gratefully, "What surprised me the most about it was that Kacchan gave up the spot for me," she mentioned.
"K-Kacchan did?" her boyfriend stammered in surprise, looking over to his rival. He merely scoffed, looking away. Moments later, the rest of the work study students were filled in on the details in regards to the performance.
"So Steiner's leading special effects, Mina'll take on choreography, and Kyoka's the star of the band, right?" Ochaco listed off in question.
"Uh, I wouldn't call myself a star, but—"
"Yep, that's totally the deal so far!" Toru exclaimed, interrupting the Earphone Jack Quirk user, making her blush.
"Speaking of special effects," Weisz began, "which of you guys are gonna join in with me?" he asked of his classmates.
"I'll take the offer!" Hanta yelled in response.
"I'd be glad to help, too…" Koji chimed in.
"Bakugo, I think you and I would excel in special effects," Shoto pointed out to the Explosion Quirk user, who growled.
"Oh, I can handle making sparks fly, Icy Hot!" he proclaimed fiercely.
"Yeah, sure," the Half-Cold, Half-Hot Quirk user replied.
"So who's gonna be singing?" Tsuyu questioned curiously, "Isn't that the most important part?" she inquired on.
"Well, we haven't really figured that out yet…" Kyoka admitted.
"Wait, you're not gonna sing?" Rebecca inquired of the Earphone Jack Quirk user, who blinked in surprise as she blushed.
"Well… I… uh…" she stammered.
"I can do singing!" Eijiro proclaimed.
"Lead singers get all the chicks!" Minoru added excitedly, "I could do it!" he affirmed.
"Just imagine a singing disco ball!" Yuga suggested. Unfortunately, none of the three were even close to being good. Eijiro was singing the wrong genre, Minoru was just yelling, and Yuga had a falsetto.
"I'm with Rebecca; it's gotta be you, Kyoka!" Toru insisted of the Earphone Jack Quirk user, "When you were teaching us music, your singing voice was so cool!" she pointed out.
"C-Come on…" Kyoka stammered out, "It… wasn't that great…" she mumbled nervously, only for a microphone upon a stand to be placed in front of her by Rebecca, "R-REBECCA?!" she exclaimed in shock, blushing a bright red.
"If we're giving it our all, we need someone who's got the best pipes in the house!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user insisted, "I got no doubt that's you, Kyoka!" she affirmed confidently.
"Rebecca…" her classmate uttered in surprise with shaking eyes. After a moment, everyone gathered around, giving her enough space. She opened her mouth as her cheeks remained a rosy red and…
You know everyone~…
Wants to sparkle~…
Like the stars in the… night sky~…
In this wondrous place~…
Filled with all… the dreams~…
I've been wishing for~
Waiting for… the chance~…
"My ears are so happy!" Toru exclaimed afterwards.
"Such a sultry voice!" Mina added, while Eijiro, Minoru and Yuga were completely knocked down by the Earphone Jack Quirk user's tremendous vocals.
"I'd say it's unanimous now!" Rebecca affirmed, shooting Kyoka a wink. Her face burned a bright red still.
"Okay… setting that aside…" she mumbled out in embarrassment, "We need guitarists!" she declared, "I'm thinking maybe two!" she added. Many wanted to get the chance to strum and shred. A couple of guitars were already present, with Denki and Fumikage showing how they could play.
"Sounds like we have guitarists all set, too!" Momo noted with a clap of her hands.
"Hmm… I dunno…" Kyoka admitted as she put her left hand onto her chin, "Sure, those two are good," she pointed out, "but we really need someone who can shred the roof off," she confirmed to her current bandmates. As if on cue, someone was riffing out on one of the guitars. The girls turned and widened their eyes in disbelief. Playing rather ferociously on the instrument was none other than Homura, whose shredding skills put Denki and Fumikage to shame as their jaws dropped.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Rebecca exclaimed in question, causing the Soul Blade Quirk user to stop upon overhearing.
"Is… something wrong?" she inquired of her shocked classmates.
"That was… incredible!" Kyoka complimented, "Since when could you play guitar?!" she questioned emphatically.
"My teacher suggested that I take up a hobby aside from training all day, so I picked this," Homura replied, holding the guitar up, "It was difficult, especially with that accursed F chord that always seemed to best me…" she recalled, "Still, I triumphed over it and have ingrained the basics into my mind," she confirmed. Her bandmates were all still shell-shocked.
"…Okay, we only need her on guitar," Kyoka confirmed, much to the dismay of the others vying for a spot in the band.
"So an all-girl ensemble, huh?" Eijiro noted, "Sounds like a first!" he pointed out.
"I hope it's not going to draw more ire from the other courses…" Mezo chimed in worriedly.
"Don't sweat it!" Rebecca remarked, gathering with Momo, Homura, and Kyoka, "The four of us'll take whatever they throw at us and dish it back out with some awesome beats!" she vowed with a thumbs-up and a wink.
"Yeah," the Earphone Jack Quirk user agreed, "We'll be UA's new genesis," she vowed.
"Hey, that's a great name!" Toru chimed in excitedly, "Class 1-A's New Genesis!" she proclaimed, "It's the perfect name for a new era of awesome hero hopefuls!" she yelled out.
"Totally!" Ochaco agreed as she pumped her fists. Luckily for the class, it was just before midnight once all roles were decided. Weisz was leading the special effects team with Shoto, Katsuki, Hanta, Koji, Denki, and Eijiro. Kyoka had helm over the band with Rebecca, Momo, and Homura. And everyone else would be dancing, while Yuga would be between both special effects and performing. Everything was all in place. And a new era was on the horizon…
X
"So, a live concert?" All Might inquired of both Izuku and Rebecca in the teacher's lounge the next morning.
"Pretty much!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user responded before sipping on her tea, "We have the gym for an hour, so we figured we'd make it a full-on concert," she told him.
"And we'll have a dance team for some of the songs for people to join in on," her boyfriend mentioned.
"Just some?" the former pro inquired of the pair.
"Here," Rebecca offered, showing him a picture on her phone, "That's the album of songs we're gonna be covering," she pointed out, "Some aren't really ones to dance to…" she mentioned.
"Ado, huh?" All Might read aloud, "That name takes me back…" he admitted, "It sounds like the class has quite the stardom to live up to," he pointed out.
"We'll figure it out for sure," the Cat Leaper Quirk user promised.
"So now…" the former pro continued, turning his attention toward Izuku, "why did you wanna meet today?" he asked curiously. Blinking in surprise for a moment, his successor lowered his head.
"During our work study…" he began, "I was able to fight using twenty-five percent of One For All," he pointed out, "It took a toll on my body though, and I was only able to use it for so long," he mentioned.
"Izu…" his girlfriend uttered worriedly.
"Even then, I couldn't win," he noted, "In fact, if it weren't for Eri's help along with Rebecca's Overdrive…" he continued, "I probably would've been dead," he admitted grimly.
"Stop thinking like that!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user reprimanded, bonking him atop the head with her left fist as he flinched, "You helped save the day in the end, that should be all there is to it!" she vehemently pointed out.
"Well, he's not wrong to critique himself," All Might chimed in, much to her surprise, "Young Midoriya?" he said, prompting his successor to keep speaking.
"In the end, I couldn't do a thing against Chisaki's long-distance attacks," he told his teacher, "I've tried to think of a solution," he kept going, "but it won't help since I'm not able to use a hundred percent of my strength," he said, "I have to figure out something new," he stated on.
"Sounds like you're at a bit of a dead end," the former pro concluded, "In which case, there's only one thing I can suggest for you…" he continued, causing the two teens before him to blink in surprise, "you need your own long-distance attacks," he told his successor.
"Well… I wish I could harness enough power to use moves like you could, but…" Izuku started to reply, muttering a little under his breath with anxiety.
"What about your Delaware Smash?" his girlfriend inquired, "If you can find a way to make a long-distance move out of that without hurting yourself, I'm sure it could work," she pointed out.
"Yeah, but I use that at a hundred percent…" the One For All inheritor mentioned as a retort.
"Well, I've been thinking about your progress thus far…" All Might chimed in, "Both yours and Young Bluegarden's," he added, "I have an idea," he confirmed, "Let's take this outside," he advised of the pair. Moments later, the couple was dressed in their gym clothes, out in the woods beyond the school.
"So… what's the plan here?" Rebecca inquired of the former pro.
"Young Midoriya, I want you to go Full Cowling at twenty-five percent just like you said," he advised of his successor, much to his surprise.
"B-But my body won't—"
"Who cares?!" his teacher shouted, "Just go on and give it a shot!" he insisted firmly. Flinching in surprise, Izuku decided not to question him and wound up activating his Quirk at his maximum limit for the moment. Green bio-electricity crackled around him as the air swelled, causing his girlfriend to shield her eyes with her arms.
"So… what exactly is the plan here, All Might?" she asked of him, noticing the strain in her boyfriend's face.
"Now stay at that level and attack as if an enemy was in front of you!" he instructed of Izuku. He did as he was told, leaping and swinging his right leg out as if to kick someone. But as he did, a burst of pressurized air shot out and tore through the trees.
'The wind pressure…' he inwardly uttered in realization. As it turned out, All Might planned to teach his successor how to use long-distance attacks once his successor's Full Cowling was raised to 15% without him needing to think about it. From all that Izuku had gathered during his time at U.A., he now had the ability, but just needed to apply it.
That meant being able to use the 25% he had control over for a split-second at one part of his body. The ones he could use with the most precision were his fingers, and he demonstrated the potential of such a move with a just a flick taking down a tree. Rebecca smiled, knowing that he was really getting somewhere with his latest ability.
"Would you like to partake in a lesson with us, Young Bluegarden?" All Might inquired of her.
"Oh, that's okay," she replied, "Izuku's the one with One For All right now," she pointed out, "And besides, he can teach me a thing or two if the time calls for it," she confirmed, "Right now, I gotta get to practicing for the concert," she noted, jogging off, "See ya, Izu! See ya, All Might!" she remarked in farewell as she waved.
"Yeah, I'll catch up with later, Rebecca!" her boyfriend promised. The former pro chuckled.
"So, shall we get back to it?" he inquired of his successor.
"Yes, sir!" he responded, eager to continue training.
X
Later that afternoon as classes had finally finished, Rebecca set down her drumsticks as she leaned back in her stool exhaustedly. Practicing for the concert had gone on for a couple of hours, giving her and her bandmates time to focus on their studies afterward. She looked over to see that Homura, Momo and Kyoka were all tired, but seemed to be happy. They had their work cut out for them, not only needing to put on a spectacular performance for the whole school, but also mastering each of the songs they were planning on doing.
"So we've got our own original song on the table, along with a few of Ado's," the Earphone Jack Quirk user noted aloud, "I feel like we can cut out a few that aren't as… fast, I guess…" she confirmed to the others.
"Are we still planning to do 'Tot Musica'?" Homura inquired curiously.
"Hmm… that's maybe a little too intense…" Momo inferred out of concern.
"Yeah, and the lyrics aren't easy to master…" Kyoka mentioned in admittance, "So that leaves 'Backlight', 'Fleeting Lullaby', 'I'm Invincible', and 'New Genesis'…" she listed off.
"Don't forget that special sixth song!" Rebecca chimed in.
"Oh, how could I forget?" the Earphone Jack Quirk user remarked, sharing a giggle with the drummer. Just then, the doors opened, getting their attentions.
"Sorry to interrupt your practicing," Shota apologized as he approached, "but I wanted to make sure I got this little one well-associated with the campus before finishing here," he noted. Rebecca widened her eyes and smiled. Standing with her teacher and wearing a sleeveless, magenta dress with a pink heart was none other than Pino.
"Hello there, everyone!" she greeted with a wave.
"Pino!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user exclaimed. Meanwhile, her bandmates blinked in confusion.
"Pino?" they repeated.
ENDING
Insert "Shikisai" by Yama
Opens with Rebecca waking up for the day in her dorm room, tiredly crawling out of her bed. She makes it to the bathroom, only to widen her eyes with terror at the sight of how messy her hair is. Luckily, a comb is passed to her from Tsuyu, who she thanks.
Later that morning, Rebecca enjoys her breakfast before being given a cup of tea made by Momo. What follows is her going over to play a video game with Mina and Toru on the Switch before they have to go class. It rains on the way, though Rebecca forgot her umbrella. Thankfully, Mezo comes over, using his patagia to shield her from raindrops.
In the classroom, she talks with both Tenya and Shoto about studying, asking them for pointers. As Shota walks in to start class, she scurries back to her seat, only to find a note there. She opens it up and smiles to see that it's from Izuku, who she shoots a smile toward.
In the afternoon during lunch, Kyoka saves her a seat in the cafeteria. She's also kind enough to shoo away a pesky Minoru, though he was only making sure Rebecca didn't touch a piece of gum left under the table. As the class returns from lunch, the Cat Leaper Quirk user trips by accident, only to end up caught by Mashirao's tail. The two of them share a smile and then a laugh.
During hero training, Rebecca gets the chance to spar against Ochaco, Hanta, and Homura. She weaves past the Zero Gravity Quirk user, evades the tape of Hanta, and then closes in to land a kick on the crossed blades of Homura, who cracks a grin. The four of them continue as All Might, Witch and Shota watch on.
Yuga later offers Rebecca some cheese as a snack, which she happily accepts. She also goes the development studio with Weisz and Denki, as the three of them are met with an explosion as a dirtied Mei laughs sheepishly. With a long day nearly done, Rebecca returns to the dorms to find Koji there with his bunny in hand, allowing her to pet it warmly. She then goes over to Rikido, asking him about a favor.
Once dinner's over, Rebecca puts on an apron and starts baking, whisking eggs and mixing flour with water. Fumikage and Eijiro watch on curiously with intrigue, followed by Katsuki approaching. He takes a taste of the batter to Rebecca's shock and anger, only for her to realize that she almost missed adding some vanilla. After a little while, she pulls out a baking sheet from the oven with several cookies upon it, decorating them for Halloween.
As the class goes ahead and partakes in her baked goods, the Cat Leaper Quirk goes over and offers Izuku a treat in the shape of a heart. He smiles and blushes, eagerly eating it. Afterwards, the whole class gets themselves ready for a movie night. Shiki floats over with a bowl of popcorn and other snacks, landing on the couch between Ochaco and Momo. With the remote in her hand, Rebecca presses the play button… and the screen goes black.
END ENDING
And Pino's finally arrived at U.A.! Eri isn't too far behind, rest assured. The next chapter's going to focus on Pino's time at U.A. while everyone's prepping for the festival concert. It'll be quite the blast and a nice slice-of-life chapter before some of the other stuff that'll go down this season.
But that's about it! Thanks for reading, everyone!
