Chapter 28: A Love Story (2):
Dr. Domyoji's POV:
"Let me stress again," I said, "we cannot go against our conscience. Please think it over. All living beings have always fought for survival. But love never changes. Do you know why? It's because love is stronger than hatred. Love enables life to carry on into posterity. Love is a pillar of support for human beings. If you are hesitant about letting others watch the tape and you are reluctant to bring harm upon your friends, then it proves love never dies. And that also shows the spread of hatred will stop."
Sadako's POV:
Everywhere, everyone was getting rid of their tapes. This was making me angry! And I know who to take it out on...
Hiroshi's POV:
"Chisuzu," I said, "we will let Mom and Dad watch the tape. You will play the tape." She refuses. "Chisuzu! You gave me your word. You said you would listen to me."
"No," says Chisuzu. She then starts walking.
"Chisuzu," I said.
"If Mom and Dad watch that tape, it will kill them," says Chisuzu.
"If they don't, you will die," I said.
"I don't want Mom and Dad to die," says Chisuzu.
"Listen..."
"No!" She then runs out.
"Chisuzu," I said.
...
Chisuzu and I were at the hospital. She was in a bed when Dr. Domyoji came in. "Hiroshi..." says Chisuzu.
"I'm not going anywhere," I said. I looked and saw Mayako, laying on another bed.
I looked at the clock. Then Sadako came in. "Pity," says Sadako, "I was hoping to make you pay, but I see you're already suffering. Oh well. At least my curse is doing this!"
Dr. Domyoji tries to call security, but Sadako hits her.
"Sadako," I said, "I'm begging you... don't..."
"Don't what," asks Sadako, "kill your baby sister or your deluded friend?"
"Sadako, if you find it..."
"How many times do I have to tell you," asks Sadako, "I don't want your love! Love is nothing but a waste of time!"
"You were in love before," I said.
"I had a working heart back then," says Sadako, "and do you know what that love got me! Because I visited the man I loved, some doctor tried to take me for himself! And now I'm dead! Love gets you nothing but trouble!"
"Sadako..." I said.
"Just say your goodbye to them," says Sadako. She then looks at Dr. Domyoji. "I heard your speech and you're about to be proven wrong!"
"You're the one who's wrong," says Dr. Domyoji, "do you know why Hiroshi's parents didn't watch the tape? Because Chisuzu refused to let them! Because she loved them so much, she was willing to take her own life!"
"And now she's going to die," says Sadako.
"Their deaths has nothing to do with love," says Dr. Domyoji, "this is all because of a tape you cursed with your hatred! You are nothing but a horrible, despicable, vile abomination! I bet you were just like this when you were alive! I bet you deserved dea..."
Sadako's about to kill Dr. Domyoji...
"Wait," I said, "Sadako, at least take my hand!"
Sadako walked towards me. "Very well," says Sadako, "only because I can rip it off for defying my curse!"
She then took my hand, and it looked like she was starting to feel something. We then shared a kiss. When we stopped, Sadako disappeared.
I then checked on Chisuzu while Dr. Domyoji checked on Mayako. Chisuzu's finger started to move. "Hiroshi..."
"Chisuzu..."
Mayako started to wake up. "Mayako," says Dr. Domyoji.
"Doctor..." says Mayako.
They were both alive! I started to cry...
...
"Was it the vaccine," I asked.
"Not just that," says Dr. Domyoji, "I think it was the love Sadako realized she had for you, mixed with the vaccine! Like I said, love was stronger than hatred!"
...
The curse is now broken. Everyone's disposing of the tapes. Friendships are being restored. Ryūji got to see Mai one last time before he moved on. And as for me... well, the truth is, nobody really approves of my new relationship with Sadako, but in their defense, she did try to kill us all! It's a working progress. That's life.
The End
