Dick stared at the ceiling for what felt like days. He didn't see Bruce anymore, instead an old man brought him his meals.

The man Alfred, was kind but never stayed for long. Dick noticed every time he would wake up from sleep more of his stuff from the circus would end up in his room. He has few belongings, the perks of traveling a lot. But he would be lying if he said he wasn't grateful when Zitka arrived in his room.

Finally, on the (fifth?) day Dick was clutching his toy elephant when the door opened. He turned fully expecting Alfred and was surprised when he saw none other than Bruce Wayne at the door. Bruce offered him a small smile.

"Well, chum, I think it's time you come out of your room huh?" Dick narrowed his eyes at the nickname but not wanting to pass up the opportunity got out of bed. Dick walked over to the door and peeked at Bruce wondering if this was some cruel trick but was encouraged by Bruce who pushed him out the door. Dick blinked his eyes, the house looked huge.

"Well, Dick you have free reign of the house except for the locked doors," Bruce said.

"The only rules I have for you are to try not to escape and you have to sit at the table with me for our meals."

"Our meals?!" Dick asked incredulously.

"Whenever I'm not working" Bruce clarified not realizing dicks tone or ignoring it. As they stood there awkwardly Bruce waved him off and walked away. Dick was in shock. He couldn't believe his luck! Free reign of the house with surely plenty of ways to escape. Bruce must be an idiot he thought gleefully. That was his first mistake, underestimating Bruce would be his downfall.
