EDIT: THIS CHAPTER HAS OUTDATED INFORMATION!
As in a lot of the stuff that I talk about here is just not true. Either I've changed my mind on somethings, edited out a few scenes that make a lot of what I talk about here not true or simply not make sense (Like Sora's 'crush' on Miwa, his sister that was scrapped for obvious reasons.) Essentially this chapter is useless to read, so you can skip it.
However, the reason why I haven't deleted it is because it's a relic of what I once wrote if that makes sense? You can read this intermission chapter as a way to know what I was thinking when I wrote these early chapters, which is why I won't change this chapter or delete it. It's strictly for archival purposes, and is therefore unnecessary for you to read should you want to continue with the main story.
THAT BEING SAID, I do hope that you read this and laugh to yourself over how far I've actually come. The first few chapters (Unedited as of writing) are rough, and obviously when I have time to edit them (Haven't finished Part 1 as of writing yet) they will turn out better, and more in-line with what I had in mind when I first wrote them.
After all, my writing ability has increased over time.
So think of this as a jokey chapter?
Please do not regard anything said here as true. Most of it is outdated information, stuff that doesn't relate to the current story whatsoever. I swear, the second intermission chapter will be much more accurate when it comes out. So no Sora x Miwa romance (Ew, I have no idea what I was thinking when I tried to write that) and the amount of chapters will probably amount to more than 77, so there is that.
Apart from that, I hope you enjoy it!
So, you may be wondering: "What in the hell is this?"
And to that I say that this is the intermission chapter. Just a chapter to really get in my head about the meticulous process of planning and writing this fic centring on the 'prologue' of this fanfic (Chapters 1 through 7) along with some extra goodies like a character profile and answering a few burning questions from fans, along with responding the fan theories that have been sent my way.
This chapter is dedicated to you the reader, so if you don't really care about this fair enough. Just skip on right ahead (Or wait for the next chapter to be released), I'm working hard on it and the entire story so enjoy!
Question 1
How many intermissions will there be?
Three in total, including this one it will be two left unwritten because they will be placed at the end of Part 1, and Part 2 respectively. And of course the final intermission will be the final segment of the final chapter, just to increase it's word count... by a lot.
Question 2
Will there be romance in this fic? If so, will there be Yaoi/Yuri?
Romance will be apart of this fic, just not in the centre of it. If anything, romance will play a role like those old superhero comic books, back in the eighties (Before my parents even met lmao). Romance is a tricky subject as I want it to play an important role without becoming the main focus of arcs, currently it has been hinted that Sora likes his childhood friend Miwa. Will they get together? Who knows.
I've had the one true pairing on my mind for months, with multiple redrafts constantly on how they actually finally get together, so romance fans don't worry you'll get your fix... down the line when they are older of course.
Yaoi/Yuri is an interesting topic, cannon characters will remain in line with their perceived sexuality. Maybe, and I mean maybe someone with little no to no screen time like Koda could come out or something, but it's not a priority for me. However, that does not mean there won't be any yaoi/yuri, just not with Class 1A unless it is revealed in the manga. Non-cannon characters (OC's) will be from the LGBTQ+ community because the world is a big open place.
And no, Sora is not homosexual, he's strictly heterosexual.
Another thing, NO HAREMS!
And no lemons/smut, I cant write that shit when I haven't experienced it for myself yet (Sad life for me, I know).
Question 3
How many chapters will this be in total?
Originally, I had a rough estimate of around 39 chapters (Including the seven currently out) To finish Part 1, but that has been trimmed. Likewise the same for Part 2. Part 3 has always been around 30-40 chapters, the problem is where do I cut them (Either I combine them to make the arc shorter, or split it to make it longer)
The current estimate is 73/74 chapters. Including the intermissions, likely 77 (If we get to 74).
Words estimate? I have no clue to be honest, I'm comfortable at the current rate of 10-12k words per chapter, but the more I write the more it increases. So the total chapters might be shorter than anticipated if I'm writing 30k word chapters.
Question 4
How much will it deviate from cannon?
To be frank with you, Part 1 on the whole is basically the same as the cannon up till the Kai Chisaki/Shie Hassaikai arc which will have a different ending leading to cannon being irreparabily broken beyond repair. Cannon elements will still be in play, just differently (I.E. MVA arc won't happen, the War arc won't happen because of Sora's changes, but the Meta Liberation Army will still exist and be a major player.)
Basically, I'm changing things around because certain characters will be missing/still alive resulting in the changes.
If that still doesn't make sense, it's like playing a sport. The court changes, but the players are the same.
Chapter 5
What inspired me to write this fic?
Many things. Originally this was a Naruto Isekai (SI/OC) but that version has now spiralled into something completely different. No, the main concept comes from a scene not yet released, in fact it won't be happening for a long time.
Other fics that inspired me was my old MHA plans for fics to write. One of them being if Shinso got into 1A, how he'd essentially become a spy for them and die in the end, his child with Nejire existing. It was a cool idea, but I couldn't execute it correctly. The second idea was if Dabi (Touya in this case) would travel back in time, de-aged to kill Class 1A, but instead becomes them and cares for them. The fic would end with a Touya v Dabi situation, with them both accepting each other and combining to make the one true Touya. He then retires with Jiro and has a family with her.
The third idea was actually published a few months ago, in a fic called "Oath Under Snow". The basic premise was that an Izuku who had lost faith in heroics with a monstrous Quirk would become a hero, his mother having died by a massive villain attack years ago. As you can guess from the name, it was heavily inspired by Fate Stay/Night and would have featured an Izuku closer to Shirou Emiya in character. He would have had a friend in his school called Miwa (I'm uninspired, shoot me) who likes Izuku, but gives up on him due to his nature.
The story would have ended with Izuku losing his Quirk, going to a university as he see's Miwa with a boyfriend, showing that she's moved past him, but with Ochako asking him out on a date showing that his life wasn't completely sad.
This was later reworked into a fic I'm still planning and wanting to write, one where Denki Kaminari get's One For All through a series of subversions from cannon. It will be an unwilling hero!Denki trying his best to survive from both being apart of Class 1A, and from the pressure OFA gives him. That is still going to be released, just not before this is finished (Or Ill be slowly writing this and publish every chapter all at once lmao).
All of these ideas bred life into Over The Top in a variety of ways, the Izuku one having Miwa who is now a staple of this fic, completely different and with a different ending. The Shinsou and Dabi/Touya one all fed into the one scene that this fic is crafted in the foundation on, and the Naruto Isekai one is obvious.
Now as to actual series that helped inspire Over The Top?
Gintama.
I'll constantly make references to it, with Sora's tacky wavy light blue/silvery hair, him getting Gintoki's famous Yakuta and more to come. Gintama's parody elements is something I took to heart in this fic, in fact Sora's Quirk was specifically chosen because it allows me to do rip off attacks from other series, something Sora who's very lazy would do, and now does.
Another series is D. Gray-Man, in terms of it's tone and nature it's a splendid underrated series that has significantly helped when writing this.
And finally, One Piece.

Firstly:
Sora being related to Oboro (Aizawa's dead friend). It's an interesting theory, and I'll admit I too believed that Sora could be related to Oboro, but then I realised I'm the author and know what I've planned.
SO I'll neither confirm nor deny it.
Secondly:

C'mon, can't you guys get more creative? Really? I was sent the same PM more then ten times asking if Sora is related to Oboro, honestly it's very fun but like... no other theories?

Just answering to some reviews.
Aizawa being in more?
This honestly surprised me, the amount of people being interested in Aizawa is staggering. Over and over, you Aizawa fans have been pestering me about his reaction to Sora and I delivered part of it the previous chapter, now you'll have to wait for the rest.
Sora being overpowered?
Eh, I can understand why you would think that. As of now, he beats Izuku pre Full Cowling, but after Full Cowling it'll be a stomp. Sora is creative (Or lazy depending on if you ask someone back on his world) with his Quirk, with the amount of animanga attacks he has on offer, it'll be interesting to see how he can use them. But, there is a caveat to this - You just don't know it yet.
Jokes aren't funny?
That's surprisingly the point. Sora isn't supposed to be a funny character, maybe he'll make a good joke once in the blue moon, but on the whole he's the type of guy that laughs at his own jokes, cause to him "No one gets them".
More of Jiro the OC?
Uhm... you do know Jiro isn't an OC, she's Kyoka Jiro from cannon - You know headphone jack, girl that liked music? Her name is Jiro, both in the anime and Viz translated manga that I physically own it's read as Jiro... so why the confusion?
And that wraps this segment up!
Now, as to the reasons I particularly focised on OC's for the prologue.
I've explained it before, but I'm going to say it again. You can not like them, overall sure they might not progress the plot but they have helped to develop Sora as a character, they are important to him. Without them, and the growth he has achieved because of them, he would be the most generic SI/OC, only interested in themselves, cannon characters and perserving the time line.
And I don't want that to be Sora, I want him to make changes as he sees the OC's as more important than the cannon characters, like the world he is in is the real world. That's what I was trying to achieve all they way back in chapter 1, with each chapter showing him progress in learning to make up for his mistakes, and forgiving himself.
That doesn't mean he won't grow anymore, don't worry Sora will grow a lot by the end, just in a different way. Sora now at least understands that he shouldn't have treated his classmates in disgust as they don't change the story, that they aren't important because now they are important to him. He will be challanged more and more as this goes on, how far will he sacrifice to save those important people?

Surprisingly, a very small number of people have mentioned on the mysterious figure in Chapter 4, and I've made sure not to answer any questions or theories about them. For good reason, I have plans regarding them. Who they are, and what they actually want is very interesting, not to mention why they are here and not in cannon. Everything has a cause, and you'll understand soon.
