It was a warm day in May and Neville sat outside with Harry in the backyard of the house they shared with Luna. Luna wanted a sunflower garden so that's what they had done. The sandy haired man leaned back from where he sat in the grass, soft soil staining his knees and a patch on his cheek where he had wiped his face. Harry had flopped on the ground next to him, dungarees stained green from grass. Luna had gone in to get some iced tea.
"Do you think sunflowers are enough or do we need something more?" Harry pondered aloud.
Neville smiled at him and plucked a piece of grass from the middle of his hair. He'd be growing it out for the last year and half, saying he was tired of the bird's nest look. Neville and Luna agreed he looked very nice with the longer hair. Especially when he pulled it up in a ponytail, one of the few long hair techniques he knew. Neville liked that it showed his neck, perfect for slipping a kiss to when they passed in the house. Luna likes the baby fine hairs it revealed coming from the back of his head. She insisted the baby hairs were softer than the rest of his hair. She also secretly liked how mature and suave it made him look, but she'd never admit it.
"I'll plant whatever you'd like. Except for mint. It's biological warfare in nature. Maybe eventually in a pot if and if you both agree it has to stay in the pot." Neville said, starting to get a determined look like he was gearing up for a plant dissertation. Before he could get started, Luna returned with a pitcher of green tea with chamomile flowers floating within the glass and three mismatched glasses. Harry sat up and helped Luna get the whole setup and herself to the ground so that they were all the same height.
Luna handed over the glasses full of naturally sweetened tea and hummed.
"Maybe zinnias? For color, they're not as tall so they won't compete with the sunflowers." Harry mused, taking a sip of cold tea.
Luna smiled at him and said," How wonderful! I think the church in town has some out front…"
Nevilled put up a hand. "Moonlight, we can afford to buy you some zinnia seeds. We don't need to do whatever it is you're plotting."
She pouted but nodded.
Nevilled drained the rest of his glass. "Alright so clean up and a trip to the gardening store?"
His sun and moon nodded their heads agreeably.
